We read this book aloud while also studying some of the art of Winslow Homer over this past term in our homeschool. We all enjoyed it, and I learned a great deal about Winslow Homer. The final page of the biography was a fascinating correlation to stage of life spirituality works I've read by Richard Rohr and others. It was such a surprise to see his life mapped out in just that way in a children's book. I passed the page on to my husband after reading it to the family, and he felt the same. That page will be what I most remember about Winslow Homer and this book. My children will most remember the signs that Homer posted for his father and others when he did not want to be disturbed.
