When truths are revealed, there’s no more hiding in the shadows.
Ishanti Phillips knows that love is out there for her, but the one she wants… she believes he is off limits. A cruise shows Ishanti that her heart’s desire may not be as out of reach as she thought.
Gian Turner is a man with a plan. The time for hanging back and living without his love has ended. He’s coming for his girl, and nothing will stand in his way of getting her.
Ishanti and Gian have been friends for years. What happens when a friend turns into a lover?
The way this book started broke my heart. It must feel horrible being in love with someone knowing they are in love with their best friend. How could you even maintain a relationship with someone while pining after your best friend? Candice deserved better. I really tried to enjoy this story more but it fell flat. I had a hard time believing in the connection of the best friends due to the story not having any backstory or fleshed out information. They didn't even have an in depth conversation about the text message or the feelings they harbored for years. I wanted to see that. Then, having the ex show up on the cruise was weird. She left him and didn't argue or fuss so seeing her on some psycho stuff just didn't add up to me. it seemed unusual. I feel this story would've benefited being a tad bit longer for more details
I'm unsure where the line was drawn between the couple and the friendship. The pair showed others the real deal for years. I love this trope... And another thing. In my Columbo's voice- I'm also not sure who the cover represented since we were told Ishanti was thicker than the girl on the cover. But other than that, I enjoyed Ishanti and Gian moving away from their self-imposed friendship shields and being authentic.
Ms. Erika B came through with this friend-to-lovers book. I will always always reiterate how a solid friendship as a foundation makes the best relationship. Ishanti proved that when she told Gian, that they don't need to learn anything else about each other however what will be a learning curve will be the intimate details. She was right they knew each other inside and out. They were practically a couple without the title. It broke my heart 💔 when Candice had the hard realization that Gian was in love with Ishanti. Candice had even noticed how Gian looked at Ishanti compared to her. It was a hard truth but needed to be brought to the forefront. Two loving people needed to be fully happy, loyal, and trustworthy with each other. Gian and Ishanti fit that mold to a tee.
This is one of those reads where you will love the dynamic of the trio. The trio is Gio, Gian, and Ishanti. They were "besties for life" and quite hilarious, especially Gio. Grab your copy today. I am looking forward to what Ms. Erika B drops next
Love the friends to lovers trope! I felt for both Gian and Candace at the beginning of this read. Gian holding on to a relationship out of loyalty, when his heart was elsewhere! While Candace is holding on to hope that what she believes Gian feels for his best friend isn't true! The cruise idea was cute, and I enjoyed how Gian began to make his feelings known. But, it seemed to take off like a rocket after that! No real conversations about their feelings, and why they hadn't expressed them before now. Gian made a statement, and boom they were together! Would have enjoyed a bit more build up, to them getting together after all that time. What was that with Candace showing up on the cruise? That was odd! What did Gian do? He was so angry at her behavior, but we never found out if he did anything about it! I loved Gio and his relationship with Ishanti and his brother. Hope he gets a story next! 👍👍
What I loved about Gian and Ishanti's story is the life like situation of it all. The best friends who were in love with one another but respected the other's relationship too much to act on it. The chemistry the two of them had. The friendship between the brothers and Ishanti; their closeness and the beautiful journey to their admittance of love for one another gave me all the feels. I loved this book and will be looking forward to reading more from this amazing author.
I loved this book. Friends to lovers has to be my favorite trope. It’s beautiful to see when two friends accept, acknowledge and act on their feelings for each other especially when those feelings are mutual. Gian was all about Ishanti and she was all about Gian. I loved her relationship with the twins and how they had each other’s back through it all. This was a very cute and good read.
That’s why I’m such a sucker for friends-to-lovers and Erika…DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!!! A quick read I try one of my favorite endings…familiar yet unpredictable but entirely sweet!!!
This was an ok read! No really jaw dropping moments. I wish the would’ve finally hooked up before almost The end of the book. A friends to lovers story
This moved slow for me, and seeing how I usually enjoy a Best Friends to Lovers story, this one fell a bit flat, imo.
I like that Gian and Gio had this bond, being twin brothers, yet even more so with Ishanti. I liked their vibes.
I didn't understand why Gian, after wanting to be with Ishanti for so long, didn't take the first opportunity to just let her know how he felt and move accordingly. It seemed a bit odd with how he proceeded to "confess" his feelings by just being extra touchy feely; seemed it a bit childish when he could've just spoke up.
The whole encounter with his ex, Candice, was odd too. Once she saw that he pretty much dismissed her, she should've just walked away. She didn't even ask if he was with someone, let alone the one person she broke up with him for, yet she assumes he'd just want to hook up with her due to their history, I guess 🤷🏾♀️. That whole encounter was awkward.
I wasn't feeling the whole spoiled vibe from Ishanti. I like that she had these two best friends that pretty much did whatever she wanted, yet I didn't get spoiled. I was hoping she'd confess her true feelings sooner, too, yet I can see why she held back more than Gian did. She didn't know if he truly liked her outside of their friendship and didn't want to risk things being awkward between them.
While the premise for the story seemed really good, it was missing somethings and focused a bit too much on things that, imo, didn't matter (the cruise).
A decent read for my first time reading from this author. Hoping more of her work interest me more.
While I enjoyed reading This Lone Between Friends, I couldn’t quite put my finger on where it went sideways. Friends to lovers Gian and Ishanti have had feelings for each other for years but never acted on those feelings. That is until they both go on a singles cruise with Gian’s twin brother Gio. Now, don’t get me wrong, the story was good but I was kinda loving the bff relationship between the three of them more so than the romantic relationship between Gian and Ishanti. Gio was funny and seemed to hype Ishanti up, whereas she seemed much more subdued when with Gian alone. Hope Gio gets his story too at some point.
This book is 10/10 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 2/5 🌶🌶 Short and fast read!!! My review kind of contains spoilers so beware!!!!!!!!
Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and I’ve never seen it done like this. Gian is so genuinely in love with her that he slowly starts moving in on her and it’s the cutest thing ever!!! And she thinks that he could not be in love with her because once his girlfriend broke up with him he didn’t go to her but this man thought she wasn’t in love with him and it took a simple text to convince him! It is the freaking cutest thing ever I love this book so much!!
I love a good friends to lovers story! They both felt the same way about each other but at the same time was very respectful of their previous/current relationships. That who Candice situation was weird, why didn’t she just admit that she made a mistake and move on. Because Gian was NOT coming back to her she released him and he was on the next thing smoking 😆…Now she is probably unemployed 🤦🏾♀️ but this is only my opinion! Read the book and decide for yourself 😍
A really good book about friendship turning into love. I loved how Ishanti was friends with the twins but was more so in love with Gian. He tried to fight his feelings but couldn't. She never though she would be with him but when the time was right and the cruise was all the time Gian needed. I didn't understand the part about his ex showing up on the cruise but I can see she wanted to throw a wrench in his plan. Glad it didn't work. Really good read
I love friends to lovers storylines, however, this has to be the worst one ever. It was so boring and it didn’t make sense. There was nothing engaging about the characters. Also, why was Ishanti big old grown self still pouting at 27? That’s neither cute or adorable! Unfortunately, this was a waste of time!
Truthfully, I'm really not sure how I feel about Gian. He's in a four year relationship with Candice, and for two of those years, he feels what for who? Chile, please!
Gian and Ishanti together helped me warm towards him, a little bit. lol Gio is cute and funny, and I'd love to read more about him.
Writing reminds me of Grey Huffington. Too much explaining in the writing, not enough dialogue. You don’t get the characters chemistry or relationship if all you’re doing is telling us and not showing us. It’s frustrating to read two whole pages of inner dialogue and the characters ain’t said two words to each other.
This lobe story was everything.. Friends to lives in the best way possible.. No miscommunication.. Some Jealousy but it was tasteful.. This book owes me nothing I just wish it was longer
I really enjoy friends to lovers book, and I loved that this didn't have any drama. It was just a cute love story about two friends admitting their feelings for each other.
Cute safe rainy day read I guess, very predictable, tethering on boring almost, like get to the point, nothing really happened, just a waiting game on the friends becoming lovers.
Always love a friends love. Nothing like developing in trust through friendship and luckily finding what’s meant for you. He definitely knew what he wanted.
Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and the author didn't let me down. Ishanti and Gian were in love with each other but kept their feelings to themselves. A text changes all of that. This was a good book that you need to pick up.
