Alpha's Hybrid Cinderella (Book 2)

Rate this book
I was the illegitimate daughter of Alpha Kris of Dark Moon. He raped a human slave 18 years ago and that was my mom. I became a disgrace and a shame to my family.

They punished me and locked me up in the basement all day except to let me out to complete my daily routine as a slave. Yes. I looked like any common slave of the pack house. No one would expect me as the Alphas's daughter.

As a hybrid, I hadn't been able to shift, but I could hear their thoughts. It's not a good thing though, for me, it's a nightmare. Most of what I've heard were my half-sisters' curses and insults.

"CLAUDIA! Hurry up and get in here!" I knew Elly was going to scream my name long before her shrill voice echoed out of her room and into the hallway where I waited.
This was the daily ritual, every afternoon. She would call for me, and while she sat at her vanity table, I brushed her long hair like a servant to her satisfaction. No one would guess she was my half-sister, nor Maria in the other bedroom...

I actually enjoyed reading this one. Character development is good. The phasing of the story is just right, didn't bore me. I'm looking forward to other Caroline Above stories.

Holy crap that was a good read. I am so surprised!
I had low expectations, considering where I saw it advertised, but it blew me away.

First off, EVERYONE NEEDS A RAF. Hands down, she is the best friend and soundboard we all need in our lives. All those times she looked out for Claudia. All those red flags she mentioned, the time she packed a go-bag because she was worried, everything. She is the friend you need, your ride or die, the person who has your back and looks to protect you, she is it.

Second thing I loved about this was the character development. Far out, Evan had great development. So often an author will say it but not show it. Boy did they show it. Evan was a tyrant, terribly scary in the lengths he would go to exact revenge. Sometimes I wondered if he even deserved a happy ending, he was that bad. But as the story unfolded I was there for him.

Now this romance? So dreamy. Dreamy and also scary because Raf had a point with her red flags. I know for sure I would be very worried if I was her. The fact that Evan didn’t fall into that stereotype and turned his life around was great for the book but I couldn’t help but feel that it was a big divorce from reality. But you know, I don’t read this for its realistic feel, I read to escape mine, so having Evan do a 180 on his path trajectory still fit in with the plot continuity.
I also really liked the werewolf spin. Scenting her? Yes please. Sounds weird, but I loved it.
And her freakin mind reading? I’m like come on Evan! Use her ability more efficiently! We could have solved things more quickly I’m sure 🤷🏽‍♀️
The dual POV worked really well into the storyline. I felt it added to it.
Going back to the dreamy aspect. Every woman wants to feel special.
Evan picking her out of a crowd. Yes. Please.
Evan whisking her away and being obsessed with her. Yes please again!
Evan being jealous, yes, yes, and yes again!
Evan being made to heel, being shown how to change, changing for her, crashing after her, shadowing her, picking her.
And the fact that they didn’t recognise each other as fated right away was perfect, because it was adequately used to create romantic conflict that lent this romance more oomph.

And lastly, kudos to an author who can kill off loved characters. Not many do it. That hits me in the feels.

And let me add this: I have had a hell of a lot of trouble just finishing stories lately. They just don’t keep me captivated past the main characters getting together. The fact that this one did means a lot in my eyes. Great plot.

I loved it.
