You know there are some moments in life where you you wish you could rewind time and undo certain decisions? Yeah, this is one of those times. This series had several inconsistencies, the plot was weak asf and the MCs were either straight up cunts who liked degrading women for no reason or were just plain stupid to the point where I felt like slapping some sense into them. God, I wish I hadn't wasted my time on this series. LORD HAVE MERCY😭💀
This series was so-so. Not bad, but definitely not great. You know those books where the characters have very little dimension, yet the other characters look at them like the sun shines out their a$$? That was Ava. Ava is so bland and boring, I couldn’t tell you a single interest of hers. She had 1 friend, that’s it, and she didn’t even like that friend. She had zero interests or hobbies. She did nothing, went nowhere, and honestly, she bored me to tears. Other than being “pretty,” the author gave her nothing to build on. Pretty isn’t enough to write a trilogy on. This series fell really flat. There was almost no plot. Ava is described as a genius, but I saw no signs of that. Just because an author tells us something, doesn’t make it true or believable. You have to sell it to your readers, and there was none of that. Not once in three books did she actually show veritable proof of her genius.
To top it off (very MILD spoiler—this was barely a blip in this book—like seriously, only a few pages), I lost any respect for Ava (trust me, there wasn’t much to begin with) after she was kidnapped and held in a basement with a bunch of other young girls and women who were being auctioned off. They were all dru g ged, and Ava miraculously managed to wake up, but did she help anyone?
NOPE. IT LITERALLY DID NOT CROSS HER MIND. 🤬🤬🤬 It wasn’t even mentioned as an internal thought. She saw a room full of dru gged and traf ficked young girls and said, “oh well, sucks to be you *shrugs*.” And when her guys get to her in the hallway, does she mention that there’s a room full of traf ficked girls downstairs? NOPE. Doesn’t even cross her mind. 🤬🤬🤬 Not even an anonymous call to police. Nothing. Their existence and lives didn’t matter to her one iota. Then, she gets in the van and proceeds to fu c k her guys as they drive off into the sunset. I can’t make this crap up. I kept reading thinking, surely she’ll mention or do something? Surely she won’t just ignore those girls? But she does. Never mentions or thinks of them ever again. Like, burn in h e l l, you god awful trash human.
While the steam is there and it’s hot, overall, this series wasn’t worth reading. I do not recommend.
FINALLY!!! I have been not so patiently waiting for the conclusion of Ava and the Luciano brothers and this was perfect.
I am going to tread lightly on this as I truly want you to start with the first book, Boardwalk Kings, and refuse to give anything away in regards to spoilers if I can. If you are looking for that review that spoils the first two books so this is the only one you have to read, move along, you won’t find that here.
Ava has accepted so many changes to her life since the Luciano brothers drove in and changed her path. She went from college graduate to working alongside Dante. The fire between these two is burning so hot you know that once he lets the walls down it will rain all sorts of fire and brimstone. The thing is, will Ava be enough to become the Queen to stand alongside the Kings? Nico has to step up in so many ways with the family business that he has to hope things will change after that massive cliffhanger in Boardwalk Queen. All the guys need to work together to help Ava and put their plans in place to the next steps on the family business. Nothing is easy and there will be battles but the ending is perfect and it is the closure needed for the Luciano’s to be happy.
ACK! I have been dying to read the conclusion to the Boardwalk Mafia series since I stumbled upon them in August. Thank goodness I did not have to wait super long for Reign to release. My only critique: IT WAS TOO SHORT!! I needed more from this epic conclusion, especially with how Boardwalk Queen ended. Thank you for bringing us into AC, Jillian!
As much as I'm happy this book ended the way it did - and don't have an issue with anything that happened during this book, I don't understand stand why two books worth of plot was put into the shortest book of the series?
It was essentially like (using this as an example to not spoil things) - I decided I could one day want to buy a car - Today I went car shopping but I will do research for years before I buy one - I bought a car - epilogue I now own a car dealership
I just keep stopping and looking at the page counts as these (at least in my eyes) really possibly special and significant moments in story were just zipped right past.
Also : (1) How did it not once for one hot second talk about Ava's dad from her POV? Bar 'oh your family are here' and given a one line sentence of like 'I always wanted a sister so I'm trying'.
(2) What happened to Angelo? I know over all we didn't get to see THAT much into each brother separately but I feel like he specifically was just forgotten about in this book.
I really wish I could could go back to the start and read a fleshed out version of this series because the characters were compelling and the story line held so much potential.
5⭐️- final installment of this series and such a beautiful ending. Entire series was so good and I highly recommend.
We left off book 2 on a cliff hanger and that is definitely resolved in this book. I love that each of these are easy to devour in one sitting. A lot happens, but everything is resolved.
I was nervous for a while when I started seeing similarities to the Devils Creek series. Even though the two series have some connected characters, they are separate. However, now that I’ve finished all three, the similarities stop with being MMMF and alpha men. The Boardwalk Kings have their own personalities and problem, and I loved exploring these characters and their relationship with Ava.
Only problem I have with anything written by this author is how realistic some of the smutty scenes are. While I am aware that they are written to be provocative, people don’t 💦💦 that many times, every time. It’s just not a thing. I prefer reading more realistic scenes with normal/legit aftercare. But if that’s my only issue with it I really can’t complain.
The entire series is a quick, smutty read and so so good. Highly recommend.
This was certainly a captivating read. Betrayal, lies, and secrets have led to death and turmoil within the Luciano family. Salvatore was murdered and betrayed by his consigliere, who, we later discover, was in love with the mother of Dante, Angelo, and Stefan. He believed Salvatore mistreated his wife, openly parading Cara, Nico's mother, before them. Paulie and Giancarlo, after being cared for by Salvatore, who even financed Ava's father's education, betrayed him. Paulie's treachery resulted in the death of Dante, Nico, Angelo, and Stefan's father. Paulie wished for Dante's death, anticipating chaos since Nico, being half Irish and half Italian, was a made man, and Angelo and Stefan were unfit to lead the family despite their crew's support. Betrayal also surfaced in Stephen's crew, specifically from Vinnie, a trusted member. Ava, harboring love for all her Luciano brothers, unveils the secret of her secluded life, orchestrated by her father. Dante and Ava plan to marry, fulfilling their father's wish before his demise. Despite its dark romantic themes, the story was enjoyable, often bringing laughter with the brothers' antics.
The only bad thing I can say about the book is how repulsively they talked about other girls. Other than that the book was great. I liked and enjoyed the plot, Dante finally came around and you saw the big teddy bear slowly leak out.
- One thing I liked is the realistic thought about the dynamic between them. Dante was a little jealous, but not too much it was extreme. But it displayed emotions we as humans would portray if we were in their shoes. Which I found comforting and a little cute. He did come around and each of the men were fun to read, each protective and in love with Ava.
I liked the series and I'm sad to see it end, I was obsessed and could not put it down for the past two days. There were moments I had to put the book down out of second-hand embarrassment and or disgust. But that can come with almost any book. I liked seeing the softer sides of the men as they each confessed and accepted their love for Ava. The little plot twists thought, were unexpected. I did enjoy this, it was the perfect dark, mafia reverse harem I needed.
My review is for the entire series Pros: I enjoyed the plot, FMC, and MMCs. Great mafia baseline. Cons: each book was too short. Not enough character and relationship building. The relationship between Ava and Dante and between Angelo could have been built up into something beautiful but they felt rushed. There was not enough development with Angelo to embrace the crazy and incorporate that into the relationship. Dante went from nothing to all and it would have been nice to see the in between. There were starts to storylines but no conclusions… her new family she just accepted with out saying anything & no real closure with her dad. The series was good and had even better potential. A nice easy read that is not too dark. No bully. Protective obsessed MMCs.
loved this book and story. i only wish there was more banter between Dante and Ava since that is how the first two books were. there was that tension, and in the 3rd and final installment there isn't much of that which i missed. i would love to see another book with these characters and to see how they all act as a father, plus their jobs incorporated. i think that would be fun to read. overall, good book with lots of action, steam and devious behavior.
This is the third and final book in the Boardwalk Mafia series, please be sure to read Boardwalk King and Boardwalk Queen before reading this book. Ava and the Luciano brothers have been through a lot together and now it is time to make the people who tried to move against them pay. This series is absolutely fantastic and I loved each and every book!!
If you’re here, I’m really hoping that you’ve already devoured Boardwalk Kings and Boardwalk Queen.
The integration from beginning to end of these characters has solidified the ending to being a strong conclusion and a bonded family.
The Luciano family has endured tragedy to triumph. The way Nico and Ava come together is a tie of perfection after a shocking twist in book two that had me REELING.
Now that you’ve made it to book three, be prepared for the deserved HEA of the Luciano brothers and Ava.
Somebody call 911 cause I need cooling off! Shit the bed! The whole series was brilliant from start to finish! These are the types of books I love reading!!! The ones that you can’t put down, that give you a book hangover the next day! I’d recommend these books to anyone who’s into dark romance- if you’re a prude please don’t waste your time cause you just won’t like them and we don’t need to read your negative reviews moaning how disgusting it is bla bla bla!!!! 😂
I'm not sure what happened but this book felt and read totally different from the other two. The writing felt stilted, the "moments" felt a bit forced and robotic, everything just seemed rushed and choppy. I loved the first two books, so this was a bit of a letdown. I'm glad Dante got his head almost fully out of his ass though lol.
I really loved this series so it pains me to say I didn't enjoy this one as much as I wish I had. It really left me feeling like we could've gone without this entire book and just wrapped up everything up in book 3. The "twist" in this book was a little much for me and it seems to continuously repeat itself.
I was upset at a couple of points in the book. But that was great because a writer is good when they make you feel emotion strongly, and empathize with the hero’s or heroines. Although I was so upset at one point, I pushed on and am glad I did. The third book offered a lot of action and drama. Great job!
This was the third and final book of the series and seamlessly picks up where the last book left off. I loved this book. It was probably my favorite out of the three, however, they’re all really good.
Spice: 2.5/5 🌶️🌶️-good amount of s*x scenes but nothing too kinky other than multiple guys at once.
Plots and secrets are revealed and the reign of power shifts with abduction, murder, passion, vengeance and an unusual love story menage. This book cost $5 and is only 136 pages long, which is annoying. This three book series should have been a duet since all the books were short, quick reads.
It was a good ending to this story. Happier with this ending that the one for the Salvatore. A good true mafia rh without any last minute surprises in the dynamics.
This starts up straight from the shooting in the previous book and it doesn't stop. A totally breathless ride all the way to the finish line, but will Ava get her happy ending with all her men?
This was very sweet! One woman brings 4 brothers together and finds her self and her true family (in more ways than one). It was so much better than I expected.
This is such a great wrap up to a great series. I love the FMC Ava and how she brings these intense mafia men together. My heart felt so heavy because I was sad for it to be over but happy about the HEA.
Loved this series! The story and characters were mesmerizing and I was consumed by the excellent writing. It was fast paced, full of thrills and surprises and super sexy! I am a devoted fan of Jillian Frost and cannot wait to read more!!!
Wrapping everything up, getting revenge and the HEA
Book 3 of the trilogy was about Nico connecting with his brothers, Dante learning to appreciate Ava and his brothers, and coming to terms with what the future holds.
As a whole, I'd give the trilogy 3.5 🌟 with 🌶 🌶 for spice.
This was honestly a disappointment that I should’ve seen coming. The story was already a struggle to get through but it had just enough for me to stay. I don’t know what I convinced myself that it was gonna improve for the end.
I really enjoyed this series. However I did feel like this last book was a bit rushed. Would have loved to see it a bit longer with a some more relationship/story building.
How can someone be together with 4 guys at the same time? Am I too conservative to get it? The actual plot was exiting, the rest wasn't. I would have chosen Nico, he is the best option.
