Pyromancer's Path #1

Warrior's Wrath

Rate this book
A young Pyromancer teams up with five sexy soldiers in this action-packed Paranormal Reverse Harem Romance.

I’m an unremarkable Pyromancer student.
There’s no chance I’m skilled enough at runetracing to graduate—let alone take part in the war against the Silithik.
Yet after a surprise attack on the Fifth Academy, I’m the only Pyromancer left alive.

Now I’m thrust directly into a Dragon Quintelaide.
An elite fighting unit comprising one member of each battle profession.
Pyromancer. Warrior. Frost Mage. Tinker. Ranger. Shadow.
It takes years of combat experience to be promoted to Dragon.
Years of experience I’m severely lacking.
And my new Quintmates know it.

These men are as handsome and charming as heroes ripped straight out of a ballad.
And they’re skeptical of my ability to help them win this war, especially while coping with their own horrific tragedy.
But Jaxon, the chiseled Warrior in gleaming plate mail, is someone I have a flirty history with.
And I see the knowing glances he sends my way when he thinks I’m not looking…

Can I convince my new Quintmates–and myself–that I belong here, while also discovering the terrible secret they’re hiding?
Or will the Silithik menace kill us first?

WARRIOR’S WRATH is the first book in the Paranormal Reverse Harem Romance series, Pyromancer’s Path. It features sword-and-bow action, a unique magic system, and all the slow-burn romance you’d come to expect from a Reverse Harem. HEA guaranteed!

Listen, I am a petty bitch. I want my FMC’s to be the ‘one true love’ of her harem. You know what the antithesis to the ‘one true love’ trope is? “Our bonded lover died and you’re her replacement” trope…

Their old lover was amazing and perfect in every way. She was super talented in magic. She was wise beyond her years. She was never jealous or petty or mean. She was unfailingly loyal and would risk her life to save kittens and puppies. BUT she dies (protecting our current FMC) and they get an average, young, foolish girl in her place. And they’re gonna share her too? Love her in the other girls’ place?

Ummm…no. New lover will always stand in ‘love of my life’ bonded woman’s shadow.

The story is really exciting and the writing is phenomenal. If this wasn’t a romance I would adore this fantasy series. But as a reverse harem? No. No, no, no.

DNF @ 30%. This was getting SO good and then it hit the fatal love after death trope, where the FMC was supposed to take the place in their quint of their newly dead shared lover and then...also become their shared lover? I hate that trope so much, and since the story showed us how amazing the lover was before she died, I can't believe we're supposed to then believe they fall for another woman?

And to top it off, I went into a deep dive trying to convince myself it would be worth it to keep reading, and found out this series has already been completed and published under another author name (1st book is Dionna's Shadow), but everyone dies at the end and is trapped in a sort of limbo forever, the outcome of which caused enough backlash by reviewers that this is now being republished under a new author's name with big disclaimers saying "HEA guaranteed!" Eh. No thanks.

Replacement Aly

This book has horrible MMC’s. I love a good slow-burn, but they literally just don’t like her—for a reason that’s not her fault mind you.

I tried really hard to push through, but how many times does Aly need to be told that she’s unwanted and useless before she gets it.

As a reader, it’s super annoying to read the mmc’s POV’s of just how much Aly isn’t going to measure up to another woman in their life.

At one point, one of the the mmc’s says she’s like “a dog that’s getting rocks thrown at her but doesn’t understand.”

Like how am I ever supposed to believe any relationship between the characters down the road when the author makes such a STRONG connection between the mmc’s and the other woman in their life.

To me, Aly will always seem like a replacement who takes whatever scraps she can from them. And I REFUSE to keep reading and feeling bad/pissed for my girl Aly :,( She deserves better.

I put this book down and came back to it like 5 times but I just can’t do it.
Whyyyyyy does she keep calling herself average every 10 seconds we get it WE GET IT.
Also her whole team are assholes who have no empathy or even pity for anyone but themselves, they just pissed me off the whole time like just be honest with the girl and tell her about the honor March and she would’ve probably understood but nooo they treat her like shit and judge her because of what? She can’t do a spell properly after her entire class was murdered and she was the only pyromancer left? Or that she was using so much magic in the attack and had to be hospitalised?
So infuriating.
I just want them all to get on with it and die.

3.5 Stars.

Hmm, where to start on this book. It was good, it was written well for the most part, and some things were done well enough/were engaging enough to put this from "3 stars/i.e average" to "3.5/i.e above average", no glaring errors either, yet it still felt a bit flat (hence not putting it at 4 stars)? I think its maybe the mood I am in? It's hard to tell, but as always my reviews are about my personal views and feelings about the book, and sometimes unconsciously or consciously things happening in our lives can affect the experience of reading a book. Wether this was the case with this book or not I am sure, but a kind reminder that no two people read a book the exact same way even if the words are the same.

Saying all this I am going to do a quick pros and cons for this book. I am not feeling great as I write this but I want to get my thoughts down when the book is still fresh in my mind.

Pros:
- Great world building. The author created a complete world with no plot wholes or developmental issues.
- Cool villain
- story events were well placed and it didn't seem rushed
- No plot holes and it didn't feel rushed.
- Battle scenes were well written (though they also seemed to drag?) and the author did a good job at having many people fighting without inconsistencies coming up.

Cons:
- It dragged a bit. I ended up skimming some parts, mostly the battle scenes and romance scenes.

- The romance. It has potential but I couldn't connect to the romance building. There was some "sexy" scenes but I skimmed them to be honest. I don't care about "sexy" scenes if I don't like the characters or their dynamic. In this case she says she really likes him but it's almost "insta love" in many ways. Also, this is supposed to be reverse harem but I don't see any romance with the others in the group. Again, yes their are grieving, and the author does say this is slow burn, but I would have liked to see at least a glimmer of interest on the MC's part for the other people.

- The characters. While nice and decently fleshed out I couldn't really connect with any of them more than a surface level understanding. I would have liked to care for them more. As with other books with the grief "trope"? the author fell into the "the grief is my whole personality" issue. The characters were defined by their grief and you didn't really get a feel for them except for said grief. Grief can be all consuming, yes, but what makes a person themselves is still present. We didn't get to see really anything when it came to the characters except 1) they were grieving, 2) 1 main defining characteristic (ex: the frost mage was contemplative, the shadow was quick to anger, the MC saw herself as average, etc). Maybe this will develop more in further books? Hard to say having only read book 1.

- How grief was handled. Grief is hard to do well in a book especially if it drags throughout an entire story. Probably why many authors start the story a few months + after the traumatic event which causes the grief happens OR has a traumatic event happen, then skips ahead a few months. OR even ends a book on a traumatic event then starts the next book a few months/years later.

In this case the author did the bold move of starting the book with the traumatic event then fast forwarding only 2 weeks and continuing the story with no more time jumps. It's hard to do this well and I found while her execution of this wasn't bad, it wasn't up to par either. Some moments the grief seemed all consuming, some others it seemed like they forgot about it. Yes, grief can come in waves, but that's not the impression I got here. More like the threads of grief dropped and then a bit further on the author tried to weave them back in to the story with some kind of excuse as to why that thread of grief dropped. And again, it works for the most part but it also felt "off" and I think did impact the story in some ways.

This review covers the whole series. Also, some names may be spelled wrong because I listened to the audiobooks.

The short of it is that I loved it. I finished the last book last night and woke up today excited to get back to the characters before remembering the story is over. It had solid world-building, a clearly defined and interesting military hierarchy, and a lot of room for more adventures, particularly after that finale. I liked the magic system, I adored everything related to the Tinkers, wish I could learn more about Shadows. I just loved this whole world.

The long of it… It’s great but not perfect. Part of it has to do with narration. The male narrator’s choice of voice for Harry was abysmal, he sounded like a sad Golden Retriever. His voice for the Archon didn’t help either, since he may as well have announced “I’m not to be trusted” from his first spoken line of dialogue. These days it feels like all grand quests have to have the twist of “our bosses were the bad guys all along”, which I don’t mind, but between the character’s actions and his voice, it felt a bit too on the nose.

The weakest point of the series, though, is how it handles Dani. I actually loved how it the first book treated Alyssa being forced to replace her. It brought an interesting source of conflict, while staying respectful to the fact a good woman had died a tragic death, and her men were not allowed to grieve her. Books 1 to 3 handle her relationship with the respective men wonderfully, in my eyes. Particularly book 3, which starts with Maize being very clear on not being attracted to Alyssa, and then letting us see him change his mind as they’re forced to work together without the distraction of the others’. They’re good, fun books where the relationship feels organic and believable.

Then book 4 drops the ball. Harry is attracted to Alyssa since the start, and only has to find the time to act on it. It doesn’t make for an interesting dynamic. Technically speaking her relationship with Jaxson had a similar start of mutual attraction, but at least had the Dani situation for added conflict, where in book 4 it’s just a matter of getting them alone and being done with it. The same happens with book 5, which is even worse. I’m not a fan of bully romance, but even I had to roll my eyes when Ryon, who spent the previous 4 books being a barely-tolerant dick to Alyssa, starts the book with a raging attraction to her. I won’t say it was forced, but I will say it wasn’t satisfying.

Book 4 also starts another big problem in the series: tacky and unnecessary Dani comparisons, with Alyssa straight up asking who is the better lover, and such. I hated that. I would have hated it in book 1, when there was reason for the nervous rookie to constantly compare herself with the shadow of the woman she was forced to replace, but I particularly hated it in book 4 of 5, where she should have long be past that shit. Book 4 is also when the men start going “Dani was great… but.” Which just feels so disrespectful to her, particularly when books 1-3 were able to avoid that pitfall. Putting down a woman to elevate another will never be acceptable to me.

Still, despite those issues, I can honestly say I loved the series. It had most of what I love about Cassie Cole’s standalone contemporary stories, including fun banter and attention to detail, but in a fresh new setting that makes me want to read more fantasy by her.

Unfortunately this was a miss for me, I almost DNF’d it. The last 10%of the book was the only reason I kept going. Why would someone write Aly like this? We get it, she’s terribly average. Which could be fine if she wasn’t having to replace someone who was basically described as amazing, perfect, powerful, could do no wrong. How is she meant to live up to that even if she wasn’t average? They were all completely in love with the original girl and are horrible to Aly. I couldn’t believe how mean they were to her, they’re allowed to be upset about the situation but NONE of it was Alys fault. They got mad at her for being upset when they “should have been more upset because they lost a bonded” umm… HELLO?? You all lost a bonded but she lost EVERYONE. ALL of her friends, teachers, peers that she had known for years. And that was just skipped over? She was the only one left and they basically think she’s being dramatic??? Also them blaming her for not being a better pyromancer when she literally has ZERO battle experience, technically didn’t even graduate and was thrown into a position she wasn’t qualified for, all against her will but somehow they’re still mad at her for that. We got literally no character growth or anything from the men; we know nothing about them, and yet Jax just falls in love with her basically 2 weeks after his lover dies. Yes that totally makes sense. I need Aly to grow some balls and know when she’s not wanted because her following them around like a lost puppy was hard to read. I tried to start the next book but it’s just not happening. I don’t usually like to leave bad reviews but this book is completely disappointing. I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 simply because I did finish it and the last part was mildly entertaining to read.

I liked this alot, but I may take a break and read something else before jumping into book 2. I liked the worldbuilding and story, but I wasn't in love with any of the characters, even the MC. I didn't dislike them though.

Just a heads up, we meet the entire harem (I assume) in this book, but book 1 very much focuses on only one of the guys, and the MC doesn't have a romantic relationship with the others yet.

This was a fab start to a new series by this author and I have to say, I can't wait for more! Think epic fantasy, full of heartbreak, adventure, bad guys and some steam. Very clear world building sucked me right in and interesting characters, that were relatable, kept me hooked. This was a one-sit read for me that kept me up late to see how it would all come together. Love when this happens - even if I'm tired this morning ;P If you want to open yourself up to a wonderful story, in a cool setting and with the prospects of a lot more to come, grab this one. You'll likely inhale it the way I did!

This is Ruby Ryan’s Dragon Origins Series

I read the synopsis and got very confused because it sounded familiar. Very familiar. But I rented it. Within two pages I was going back into my Kindle library to find “Dionna’s Warrior” by Ruby Ryan.

They’re the same. I could add a photo of the first page but down to the symbol, they are the same.

Usually, this behavior from authors makes me mad because it feels very grifty and disingenuous.

However. I REALLY LIKED THAT SERIES. It was good! Really good. However, there was one part of the book that felt so out of place that it ended up ruining the series for me. If this rendition can rectify that very strange portion I could go back to liking the series again.

Why did you read this book?
It was a reverse harem (my favorite genre) with good ratings.

What format did you read this book in?
Read it as an ebook on Kindle.

Is this an educational book or a book for entertainment?
I read this book for pure entertainment purposes.

What genres do you think this book belongs to?
Fantasy, Horror, Mystery, Psychology, Romance, Suspense

What was your favorite part in the book?
I think my favorite part is when the group takes down a hive queen. That fight scene was awesome to read.

Who would you suggest this book to?
Anyone who likes slow burning fantasy romances.

What is your general opinion/ rating of this book?
Wow I really liked this book. It's been a while since I found a good action-packed reverse harem fantasy romance. Alyssa Is an average pyromancer who survives a tragic attack on her Academy. Being one of the sole survivors she has chosen as the replacement pyromancer to a Dragon Quintelaide to keep them from going insane. The Dragon Quintelaide Does not want to replace their pyromancer but instead wants to go on and Honor March to their deaths. The fantasy world, magic system, and enemy forces (bug like creatures called the silithik) We're all very well done. I also appreciated That the author didn't rush to develop a romantic relationship between the main character and all the love interests into one book. It seems like the main character we'll slowly develop her relationship with each one of the five love interest as the story continues. The fact that some of the guys could be giant ****** it was understandable why they were acting the way they were. If you like fantasy romances that I highly suggest this book.

Are there any cliché scenes or concepts? (If yes, does the author add something unique to them?)
the main character is chosen to be a part of an elite group. The author adds a fresh take to this common cliche by adding war and tragedy to the mix. It makes sense that they would put one of the only surviving pyromancers into an elite group they want to keep alive for the war.

How intense are the intimacy scenes?
There are some intimacy scenes, But they're not overly detailed.MF.

At what “burn” level is the romance?
This is a slow burn with two-three medium/hot scenes.

Love interests, how many of them are there and what gender?
There are five love interests, all of them males, and part of a Dragon Quintelaide.
Jaxon the warrior and the one that has a crush on the main character.
Arthur the frost mage and the socially awkward analyzer.
Harry the Ranger.
Maze the tinker who lost his leg during the Academy battle.
Ryon the shadow and Danni’s (the previous pyromancer) lover.

Dude! I literally started this book expecting NOTHING, but??? Oh. My. God. This was good!? SO NICE??
I got lost in those battle conflict moments at first, because… I’m sick of the “I’m not a native speaker” excuse, so I’ll just admit that I read way too fast, after all… the flow!? The action got me too excited and anxious so… yeah. Everything happened like a movie, man! It was SO cool.
This world construction, with the professions and the Silithik motherfuckers was AWESOME! Each ML has such unique personalities and mannerisms, hm yummy. It made me so giddy and hungry for more, I’m sure I’ll finish this series soon, lol. Can’t say I can help me myself heheheh, I literally swallowed it :p
Lyssa is my girl, and I must protect her! Whatever men hurts her, will be addressing directly at me... *evil laugh*
But seriously, the angst and the shitty situation the Ninety-First Quintelaide and my girl were in, was really… SOMETHING! I liked it SO BAD, you just don’t understand. The drama, sis, the mexican soap opera plot, gurlz! Never saw such an unfortunate setting before, and I’m SO excited to see how my girl will manage to bring those five Weltschmerz men to her light side, or must I say… the dark side? :p
Lyssa is just so cute, so adorable, so precious, I completely LOVE her! *ugly crying* and Jax is so caring, so lovable, so my dream man, ARGH. They’re my everything! *ugly crying again* And Arthur and Maze! *ugly crying again & again*
Btw, chapter 25 was NICE! And the last ones with the “final battle”? Holy fuck, I pissed myself from excitement! My girl, okay!? My GODDAMNIT FUCKING QUEEN!!! My savior, period. The Epilogue chapter filled me with so much warmness and fulfillment… huff, seriously, I feel so full, complete, y’know? I’m happy as heck lol.
Respect can just be earned, and I’m so glad, so happy that Lyssa could do it… truly, she deserves just the best of the best :,) So excited to the next book!
RIP Fireball… :( and is it just me, or this kinda of reminds you of Shingeki no Kyoujin too? Lol, 気のせいかなぁ?
Oh, almost forgot, but this idea of sharing POVs with the FL and one of the MLs in each book? It’s GENIUS!

3.5 ⭐️

I really liked the premise of this book and am excited to continue the series.

The writing is decent, the characters are interesting and endearing, and the world building is cool and seems unique to me. I want to learn more about the world and how the magic and quintelaids work. I love the creativity of the world building so far and hope we also get a look into some of the politics of this world.
I also thought the fighting scenes were well done. Good pacing that kept me enthralled.

The author struggles a bit with inconsistency when it comes to dialogue, at times it is very modern and other times it’s more fanciful and “old timey”. I feel like for the most part I can gloss over it but occasionally it is a little jarring.

There is also a lot of inconsistency with how Aly is characterized. We are constantly told how average and unskilled she is but she acts the complete opposite 99% of the time. What we’re told is not at all what we’re shown. Every time something major comes up where she needs her powers she succeeds, it’s only the occasional small thing she fails at and at least one of those times is due to exhaustion. It got incredibly annoying honestly.

I also wish more time during all of this would have been spent on her mental state and how she was dealing with the events of the first chunk. She bounced back way too quickly for how traumatic it should have been.

My other critique is with the spicy scenes. Something about the way the author writes them is a little off putting to me. It feels a little unnatural and stiff and like the author hasn’t gotten fully comfortable with writing them just yet. A little too descriptive but not in a sexy way.

Overall, I did really like the book and am interested to see where the story goes over the next four books!

Alyssa is, as she calls herself, an average young woman. Within her class of Pyromancers she's even at the bottom of the group, making her doubtful she'll be graduating together with her class. That's until an attack on her school turns her entire world upside down, resulting in a future she never thought would be in the cards for her.

Warrior's wrath is the start of a rewritten slow burn RH series, with a dual POV focussed on the relationship between Alyssa and Jaxon. I enjoyed the fantasy world where this story takes place, and how the author described the world and its inhabitants. I liked Alyssa and how she pulls herself together to do what's expected of her. It was nice to watch her grow within her powers and become more self assured as the story continued. I did have a hard time with all the secrets the men kept from her though, and I don't like how Jaxon let their relationship develop despite of them. Maybe it's because the secrets revolve around their relationship with their previous Pyromancer I had a harder time with it then in other books where the harem is keeping secrets, I'm not sure. Still, it's probably a personal thing that rubbed me the wrong way, and I'm still intrigued enough by the storyline to check out the next book.

I've just bought a kindle, and this is the first book that I've read on it. Best decision I've made in a while. Anyway, the book! I didn't really have any expectations for this seeing as I've just been loading previously mentioned kindle in conjunction with some stuff your kindle days. Though I think this is one of the few I paid for.
Anyway again, I like that this is panning out to be a slow burn over the series with most of the guys on the Dragon team, or whatever. I'm also kind of fascinated by the world building, and I hope there's more info about the beetle-monster-thingies. I think my favourite to least favourite MMC is: Mace, Arthur, Harry, Ryon and then Jax. My working theory is that both Mace and Arthur is some kind of neurodiverse, likely on the spectrum or AuDHD. Mace and Harry are a funny duo. I respect Ryon, and his need to grieve. Jax is okay, but I think he's the oldest at 32(?), and Aly is only 21. That highly likely ick territory depending on how it's handled for the duration of the series. Jax is also the first to fall, and it doesn't take much which is kind of boring.
All of that being said I'm going to continue the series, because I'm kind of invested now.

Alyssa is in her last days at the academy to become a Pyromancer for real and her future will be for certain after the assessment which is planned for the next day. Alyssa thinks she won't pass, because she is average.

Turns out she don't have to do it at all, because the night before the academy is attacked by their enemies. Since Alyssa wasn't in her room when it happened she helps fighting, but with huge costs.
Not many survived and she herself did barely.

Next she is linked with a Quintelaide who lost their pyromancer in the fight. They don't want a new one, the only want to go an a suicide mission to kill many enemies.

Alyssa and them end up together and it seems like they need each after all.

This is a story full action and a built up for more to come between Alyssa and the others in her Quintelaide. The moments between her and Jax are hot ones to read about. I can't wait to read more in this great fantasy reverse harem series

Great new fantasy series from an author that I’ve only read contemporary stories from.
Aly(Alyssa) and Jaxon are the only pov’s in this book, but I am going out on a limb and guessing we will see more in the coming books.
Aly is very relatable, even though it’s a new world and she has powers, she struggles with not feeling good enough and survivors guilt. As she is pushed into situations she’s not prepared for she seems to struggle with imposter syndrome. I saw a lot of growth from Aly in the book and see a ton more in her future. Jax and the guys had what I consider minimal growth in this, to me I feel like they have a longer and harder road ahead of them than Aly does.
Really looking forward to book 2, while hoping it doesn’t make me quite as sad as book 1. I don’t consider a book making me sad to be a con, but the mark of a well written book that is able to make me feel.

I give it a 4,5 ⭐ for Alyssa! She's the star of this show. I love a strong, smart and sweet FMC. Alyssa never once was full of herself, and it it's shown that she's very capable. That's what I loved most about this novel. I enjoy when the author shows us the characteristics of the characters instead of telling us they are this and that.

As for the male characters... I don't know if I like them. Not even Jax. I'll move on to the next book because of Alyssa, and let's see how the others fare. I hate when the MCs loved another girl, especially when they shared her too. If they keep comparing Alyssa to Danni, I'll be mad. It's not fair to Alyssa and if they didn't want her, they should have let her go to have a chance. Most of them only kept her for selfish reasons, reasons that I don't think Alyssa comprehends. I want her to be happy, loved and respected. She deserves it. Not some half assed kind of love, with the MCs still caught up with a Ghost.

I seriously loved this book. It deals with a lot of very interesting ideas and themes that give the characters lots of depth. It has buckets of adventure and lots of great fantasy lore.

I like that it focused predominantly on one romantic relationship out of the group at first rather than trying to introduce all the characters and balance too much in the first book. The characters feel realistic and very different from each other (they aren't just hot guys that blend in together.) It takes the usual forced proximity reverse-harem themes and takes them in a very unique fantasy/warrior direction.

I wish the plot started a bit faster as I already had the academy tragedy spoiled in the blurb/summary of the book so was just waiting for it to be over to let the rest of the story start. Overall though, I had lots of fun reading this book. It was a lot more plot focused that most of the books I read so it was a cool change of pace.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story about Alyssa and her struggles in learning to become a Pyromancer. It’s an honour to be a part of a Quintelaide as one, but Alyssa did not want it to be after the night of her assessments. A great tragedy befell the Fifth Academy when it was attacked during the night, losing her friends that night and learning what she learned after the battle.

Aly is assigned to the Ninety-First Dragon Quintelaide and Ryon, Jax, Arthur, Maze and Harry are angry to have Aly join their team after their Pyromancer Danni was lost in battle. They have to go through the refiners fire together before they finally except her as their Pyromancer. I’m pretty sure the story doesn’t end here and there are more books to come.

Alyssa had been studying to be a pyromancer for five years and was still at the bottom of her class. She and her friend Brennan, with benefits, we’re on the roof of the Academy when the Silithik Beatles and Wasps broke their truce and attacked. When it was over the Academy was destroyed and many significant deaths occurred. Alyssa was the only pyromancer left and she was placed with the ninety-first Dragon Quintlaide. This was the elite of the elite and they were hesitant to accept her into their group. She had previously flirted with Jaxon, but initially no one wanted her there. This story is primarily the building relationship between Alyssa and Jaxon, the continuing war, lots of anguish, insecurity, grief, and acceptance. Good story with excellent world building and strongly defined characters. Good read!.

it was ok, but…

I’ll pass on finishing the series.

There’s a lot of self deprecation and over all nasty attitudes in this series. The MFC does gain confidence as the series progresses (have only read the first 2) but I cannot continue. It also isn’t very comforting that there are so many reviews stating that this series is basically word for word (except for the name of the MFC and other small changes) of another series that was released in 2018. I don’t like dishonesty nor one stealing the work of others, if it isn’t the same author, but are Ruby Ryan and Cassie Cole the same author? Both names are too similar, meaning same letters for each set RR and CC, to be a coincidence and not very well thought out if it is in fact the same author that wrote then copied and pasted then renamed both series. Or maybe it’s just me. Idk

I really enjoyed this story from Cassie Cole. The story is quite intense, dark but very intriguing, with some pretty complex characters. The world building was fantastic and drew me right in. I enjoyed the complexities of the characters and the dynamics of their skill sets and relationship.

While the story is reverse harem, it is not so in the traditional sense that as a reader you experience it first hand with the characters. If you are reading the book only for the RH element, it is more a secondary part of the overall story. For me, that did not lessen my enjoyment of the book.

It is slow burn for sure, but I enjoyed the book and cannot wait for what comes next!

Aly has always thought herself average, even after being selected to train to be a pyromancer she still sees herself as average compared to her fellow students.

But when a tragedy happens at their academy, Aly is the only trainee pyromancer left standing.

She is selected to join the Dragon Quintelade, who usually have years of experience before joining. Can she convince her fellow teammates that she belongs. Will she find out the secret they seem to be hiding.

This is a fantasy story, I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it. It's the first book in the series, I am looking forward to reading future books in the series.

Our heroine is just a student, but she has skills the team needs right now. The question is, can she convince herself she has what the team needs before it is too late?

This is book one of the series, so no issues there.

This is a fantasy reverse harem romance story. The story is well written and easy to read, with well developed characters that each make a unique contribution to the story. This one is a bit of a departure from the previous books I have read by this author due to the fantasy setting. But the story still provides action, romance and steam, so all is good. The story was fun to read and very enjoyable. I look forward to seeing what comes next.

Highly recommended.

Sorry but i just can’t.

Maybe because i’m coming off from a book with strong a mature mc but this feels…
like a teenager wrote it? how a teenager would look at a 21 year old and think they are so old and seasoned.

like they are trying to make her seem older and wise and well put together. but really it would just make an actual adult smile politely from afar and let them play with a pat on their head.

which is so irritating. make her act her age or make her older. that’s it. she’s 21 for gods sake. her making a comment about how a guy vs a man would act when she herself is barely a young woman is childish.

maybe that’s the thing? she is a kid and is acting like a kid pretending to be older.

and it’s not just her! all of them!

i dunno. but i don’t particularly enjoy it.
