Space Opera👽🚀 Couldn't get really engaged with this series. It was overly long and really boring at times with all talk and little action. DNF At 32% I got this ebook from Amazon📚 withKU
Bowman is a constable on a human outpost. With Vandyke, his new recruit, Phelps, a bounty Hunter, Maro, the ship's mechanic, Lucky, the ship's AI, and Akin and Sweeney, the two felons that are being transported to a Republican Guard detention facility, they end up forming a team that will stand against the emerging enemy, the Pterans, a race of insect type beings bent on wiping out the human race aided by a coalition of Army combatants of all branches of the military.
During an Attack by the Pterans, Leaving the Reflex, Bowman sets out in search of survivors from two human crafts that crashed. On the way, he encounters a squad of Republican Guards literally torturing and killing Pterans. Bowman puts an end to this massacre and saves a Pterans worker named Oneiki.
The author treats us to a masterpiece of fiction full of non-stop action, betrayal, friendship between species, honor, greed, craziness, and outright power grabbing at the expense of an entire race, that takes place in Outer space ; using his special gift, Daniel virtually takes the reader along on a page turning adventure filled with action and more action, mixed with friendship , treachery, loyalty against all , new races and cultures, and a lot of twists and turns that will make the reader wonder, at times, who is the real enemy. The battles, the fights, the camaraderie emerging between the main characters is worth mentioning.
This is one of not the best series that I have read this year, and I recommend it to all fans of sci-fi. The only problem I have is that I am limited Toa rating of 5 Stars as this work deserves more.
And he does it again, another amazing series that I got sucked into and could not put down. It had it all - unique characters, overwhelming odds to beat, survival on the line, and aliens bent on destroying those pesky humans. And what a ride the unlucky people on board the simple transport ship end up on. Made me laugh and groan and entertained me as Bowman and the rest fight to stay alive. As start reading and get into the books, more fun and games as the war/battles continue to escalate makes it so hard to put down. But all is not as it seems as the series continues and Bowman really begins to question everything. Glued to the end to see what happened next, who and where the betrayal that has been hinted at from the beginning of the series would happen, and what it would lead to. And just the outright fun of the battles, characters, and situations. Loved the wildness and the journey. I laughed and groaned but was wildly entertained.
Another great series from Daniel Young. This series was a lot more serious than some of his other series. The story was new. The story had a few insightful moments. It showed all the good and bad characteristics of human nature. Human compassion, as well as human treachery. Quite a few twists and turns. You get to see the full development of the characters and how they come together as a very effective team. There are a few real surprises that are not predictable or expected. Please note that there is no hard science. Travel between planets is literally faster and driving to your local grocery store. If you're looking for hard science then this series is probably not for you. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and I highly recommend it.
Poorly constructed storyline and challenges to suspension of disbelief through the 85% of the book before I gave up on it. The author seems to think using real world imagery from the eyes of a rural farmer in the southern United States somehow translated into a fictional universe the boxset is supposed to lay out. Also, overuse of weaponry that defy the laws of physics with no explanation offered to many challenges to disbelief. 2 typos found were not an issue, struggling to read a novel where even anxious moments for characters were clumsily set up was. Author needs to read top quality material and Understand the the art of word smithing and Story telling.
There were a lot of errors in the books. It didn't stop me reading them, but I would think they should have been corrected by now. It doesn't set a good example for young readers. I am so tired of being a free resource for proofreading that I no longer send in corrections. I do like the old-style writing and enjoyed the action in the books. It was good to read something different for a change. The storyline is good and it was full of action.
The only problem I had with this series is that I couldn’t put it down. Read it too fast and now I need to find another!! It was a fun book series to read. A new take on the old Aliens take over the worlds to my mind!! Characters were fun to get to know and despite it all working out not all the heroes lived to tell the tale!! Great series!!
This is one of the best set of books I have ever read. It is none stop action that keeps you wanting to turn to the next page. The author"s ability to make the characters human is first class. They show their emotions both good and bad. I will definitely look for more books by this author.
Interesting story with several good tweets and turns. A bit melancholy at times but I really liked how the kaim characters came together as a team. Some sadness and loss occurs but was dealt with well. Kind of wish the story ended on a higher note but it still ended well.
Young notes in his prequel that the books aren't based on science as much as imagination and fun. It was a fair statement to make, the books were a lot of fun, but they bordered on the brink of frustrating...there were countless typos, grammatical errors, and missing words throughout each book. An investment in a proofreader would have been worth it.
This series is a mix of sci-fi, cowboy & military & it's so good. The war has been going on for years, Jack Bowman is now a constable after getting injured whilst fighting in the war. He has a new constable Van Dyke to shake down into his role & they have two prisoners Akin & Sweeney to transport along with the bounty hunter Phelps.
The Galaxy has been at war for years, the people are suffering from being unable to make a living with all the taxes to keep the guard going. One man figures out that things aren't as they seem and with a crue acquired along the way true to figure out why things seem rigged. Good Read.
A great box set that sets a good pace, excellent characters, the good guys are good and the bad guys...... well we'll say no more. I had a few "do you know what time it is?" moments which gives an idea of how engrossed you can get reading this set. Recommended as a great read.
Great story with lots of action. I wish it had a little more in the way of character description, it would have been nice to better form an image of the cast but the story line was good
I know I will like a book when I start caring for the characters. In this series, I cared about most of them. The plot had a good mix of tech, aliens, and action with just enough drama to keep it all together. Great story Daniel.
If you want a lot of action this is your book. I wish it wasn't all fighting but what do I know. I didn't get muddled by a loot of technical scientific theories, but it really was a space opera rodeo.
Suspenseful drama with many unexpected twists and turns
This story is a fast-paced drama with believable characters, plenty of fight scenes and a believable comradeship that develops between unlikely characters.
Pretty good space opera. I think you'll enjoy the evolution of the characters and the gathering of the group to find the ring that rules I'm sorry the spaceship that rules them all.
This is a great read from the first page to the last. An interspesies war where the villians were set up by the supposed victims. It held my attention throughout, and I continually wondered what was going to happen next.
From the first episode of the series I was hooked. The story got better the further you were reading. It makes your mind wonder to what if. I recommend that this is suitable for all.
Great story line, would have given it 5 stars if I hadn’t run into so many grammatical errors. Get someone to proofread or at least run it through geammerley.
No science just scfi! I thank Mr. Young for his writing without the use of crude language that has no buisness in the telling of stories! Write on Daniel!
