Jill has always had a love/hate relationship with gnomes, but she's about to see them in an all new light. Meanwhile, her latest case is going to test her nerves like no other. And who is Winky's mysterious new friend?
How wonderful this series has been. After getting used to some of the crazy things that Winky comes up with and Jills' dogs and of course lets not forget the pet goldfish, we can get down to business on Jills clients. This episode includes a wife who believes her husband is trying to kill her. Next a CEO who can't figure out how his competition comes up with the same AP as they do. And lets not forget about how Henrietta, the elf, has gone missing. She and Henry are supposed to be getting married in a week. So Jill has a mountain of things happening and she decides to get some part time help. See who shows up for that interview! Thanks to the author for so much fun!
I think I feel this was a 3.5 read but bumped it up to a 4. I hadn’t read this series in an awhile so it was nice to get back to my favorite character in the series, Winky. I do think the series has gotten a bit stale. It’s like the author seems to get stuck in a rut. I’m not a fan of Florence as she’s mostly portrayed as spoiled and indulged but then again, maybe Jill is sort of the same. The cases were mostly predictable and of course Winky’s new get rich idea was sure not to work. Since it’s been so long since I read this, I’m lost on the compass stones but don’t feel any need to figure those out as I’m sure the author will spell it out again in the next book. I plan to read the next book but not right away. I view this series more as a palate cleanser than a main dish.
I have been reading these books for quite a while. (Can’t believe I’ve devoured 46 of them.) They are fun reads and I love the characters, and they are a pretty fast read. Yes, she does have cliffhangers, but that makes it more fun as they never really answer the question, or at least not all the time. Now back to weightier reads.
This was an enjoyable read as all of Jill's adventures are! The difference in this book is that she accepts help in her business from her husband; their marriage is starting to become more equal! A long way to go, but a great start. I enjoy all of the books, but I really enjoyed this one more than others!
This series has reached the point of stagnation. I still enjoy reading it, but I hate it that Jill has stopped learning new skills. How many more times is she going to use the shrink, doppelgänger, and invisibility spells to helps solve a client's case?
This installment seems to see Jill a bit more adultish...Not so much with the name thing. I loved the story, love how it flows between clients. I would recommend this book for anyone.
OK, another awesome book. I don't believe I've mentioned that my name is Jill. So again, lots of "odd" characters; I don't know how she comes up with these names.
It's a wonder how books full of exasperating characters can be so addictive. Abbott's Witch P.I. series is less about mystery than about character development in both the human world and the world of strange, supernatural beings. They are all quirky and borderline loveable, hardly ever adorable, yet somehow fun to hang out with. I don't read much fiction and certainly not Abbott's brand of silliness, but somehow I have read them all and look forward to the next one in the series. Go figure! My best advice is to start with volume #1 and read them in order. And good luck figuring out Winkie the cat, who is not a supernatural being but yet is an impossibility in the so-called "real" world.
