Another Arranged Marriage #2

Don't Judge a Prince by His Undergarments

Rate this book
The only goal Prince Syrius Fortune of Rosenhip had during his twin sister's "meet the suitors" ball, was to stay quiet and out of the way. His sister's event had been in the planning for five years, and he and his loving father had already agreed trying to seek a wedding contract for himself was not a good idea. Prince Syrius had quirks, and it wasn't as though he needed to open himself up to ridicule from someone else, especially a spouse he would have to get to know. The event was only a week, and being a lot smaller than his older brothers, Syrius was used to not being seen. Until someone did see him.

King Mintyn of Marinkaw had been a soldier since he was fifteen years old. He was not impressed to find out the one time of the year he was supposed to be meeting King Fortune to sign their Golden Straits agreement was apparently the one time his friend decided to have a huge event going on. However, his aide told him he had been invited, and it was only one ball. Mintyn could enjoy some good food, network a while, and then leave the following morning once the treaty was signed.

That was until he saw a young vision being hassled by an entitled duke. On learning the vision being hassled was his friend's youngest son, Mintyn decided to intervene. It was the nice thing to do. One shortened dance later as Prince Syrius walked away from him after he put his foot in his mouth, Mintyn told his aide to rejiggle his schedule. He had a spouse to woo.

This is one of those light stories that my muse weaves sometimes simply to make people smile. There are no deep and meaningful plot lines, just a bit fun between two men who look so unsuited for each other on the surface of things, but their pairing proves opposites do attract and stay together. It is in the same universe as the Infidelity Clause but is totally standalone (Don't laugh my lovely readers, it is honestly, standalone). Watch for cameo appearances by a cupcake eating dragon, an episode of prince throwing, and potato cuffs.

This is an MM arranged marriage story with intimate situations described, along with strong language in places, and situations written for adults only. Please store your content responsibly.

This was a lighthearted, low angst book with some nice messages about acceptance and standing up for yourself but I found that everything happened too fast and I thought the modern dialogue was distracting.

The good
+ The upfront communication right from the start
+ Syrius' family
+ Mintyn's plans to woo Syrius
+ Minty
+ Grilled cheese sandwiches at the wedding
+ Mintyn literally tossing Syrius over a fire
+ Syrius asking for a step stool, and Mintyn deciding he'd rather just carry Syrius instead
+ Potato cuffs
+ Magic lube
+ Mintyn's support of Syrius' passion
+ Syrius asking for Mintyn's protection
+ How well they complemented each other
+ Mintyn getting involved (positively) in Syrius' business
+ The plan for magical corsets. So smart!
+ Mintyn's army. They really were his family

The neutral
o I still had no idea who the World Council were or how they worked
o Some sentences were a little weird in regards to punctuation

The bad
- I wished to see a little more of the life they made in Marinkaw, especially because they were going to really upend the status quo

Quotes
x "Grilled cheese sandwiches don't disappoint."
x This is why people wear robes at weddings, you damn fool. It's so no one can see how freaking horny you are for your spouse.
x If Syrius in this outfit wasn't one of the world's twelve wonders, then it should be.
x "This is every holiday, every birthday I never celebrated, every holy day, it's as if someone handed me the keys to the World Council and said, 'you're it', you can rule the entire world, or you can have a husband who dresses discreetly in the most incredibly courageous and gorgeous style I didn't even have the brain power to imagine. I'd take you. I'd take you in a heartbeat. I would give up every single thing I have to keep you like this, and I'm a king so I'd probably upset a few people if I did that, but I would."

This book was, once again, amazing. I loved The Infidelity Clause, and this book was just as awesome. Maybe I even loved this one a little more. These guys fit together perfectly, and the way they lifted each other up and fully supported one another was beautiful. I wish there was more of these guys. But The Infidelity Clause gets a sequel, so who knows... I have hope! Would definitely recommend this book.

This book wasn't a direct sequel to the first, but it was a good, interesting one nonetheless. Syrius and Mintyn make for a fun contrast both in looks and personality, and yet they feel evenly matched as a couple. I liked it a lot

💜 this series

***3.5 stars***

I really do like this series and cannot wait to see who comes next! So far either of these books can be read in any order because even though they are part of a series it’s only in regards to the world that they live it was mentioning of the character(s).

I had been looking forward to this based on the blurb I'd read, and... wow, it was bad.

Syrius is the youngest child in the Fortune royal family. His parents are the rulers of the kingdom, his twin sister is meeting husband prospects at a party in the castle, so he agrees to slip into the background. However, King Mintyn, from a nearby kingdom, lays eyes on Syrius, is immediately interested in the younger man, and they dance. Mintyn asks why he's not looking for a partner at the same time his twin is... Syrius immediately replies "because my deepest secret that only three other people know is I like to wear feminine undergarments so much that I've anonymously built up a thriving business creating and selling such things to other men across all the kingdoms." *record scratch*

So there's no real thought or explanation why Syrius would blurt out something so private or secret to a total stranger. It gets weirder: at the beginning Mintyn is described as a stranger to the family, but then suddenly Syrius's father is "best friends with Mintyn." Oookay.

Even though Syrius and Mintyn are still quintessentially strangers, then Syrius is calling the older man "Minty" and Mintyn is calling him "babe" in return. So royalty is suddenly allowing strangers to call each other nicknames after the first meeting. Oooooookay #2.

The next day, the stables are set afire, which is quickly revealed to be the handiwork of a long-time family servant who's worked side-by-side with Syrius since the prince was a child. After trying to kidnap the naked prince from his bath, he's quickly caught and starts going on about "his precious flower." Then he's quickly silenced by "Protocol 4" and bundled off. No one seems disturbed by this sinister series of events. No deep explanation of what or why this guy suddenly snapped. OooooooKAAAAY #3

At this point, I'm reading the Fortune family as a thinly veiled disguise for Italian mobster and I'm not liking the chaotic story very much. After a quick family meeting, the two kings, the queen, and the prince decided Syrius and Mintyn should get married and hustle off to Mintyn's kingdom the next day. I'm losing interest and decide to DNF at this point.

Other issues I noticed included some very strange sentences, such as Mintyn thinking "Him and the heir apparent were friends." There were several such instances this, such as in the last chapter I read. Mintyn says Syrius "gets my motor running." Um, this is a fantasy world with dragons that's practically medieval in technology. Slang like this seems very out of place.

Almost all of the characters are very paper-thin with no real development and the plot is total nonsense. I kept trying to get into the story and... the writing kept throwing me right back out.

I was really, really disappointed in this one, which is surprising because I've generally liked the other books I've read by this author.

I think this is a perfect example of what a blurb should be, and how a reader can benefit. This book did exactly as the author intended and did it well. {One of the best I've read of is length, purpose, and genre}.

I loved how the author told me, "This is one of those light stories that my muse weaves sometimes simply to make people smile. There are no deep and meaningful plot lines, just a bit fun between two men who look so unsuited for each other on the surface of things, but their pairing proves opposites do attract and stay together. " Readers looking for something else, like deep, dark, complicated, angsty etc... Know to stay away.

I knew exactly what I was getting, and I chose to read it when that was exactly what I was looking for in my selection. But, it was so much more than I expected! I expected "low angst" to mean fluff and brain candy; what I got was way meatier than just brain candy. The story was meant as a feel good story in the truest romance sense, while making people smile. For me at least, it did that in spades, while actually having unique characters that were fleshed out and a plot. I adored this couple. I also loved, loved, how they turned the unusual passion of the Prince - that would make many very uncomfortable (both in the story and readers a like) - and found a way to take some of the social stigma away while making it extremely useful to another segment of society so cleverly.

This book surprised me in many ways, all of them positive. Having read over 2000 m/m books, that does not happen often. The blurb clearly lays out what this book is about, and if that appeal to you at this point and time - I highly recommend it.

Wonderful

Sweet. Sexy. A different story than I expected from Lisa Oliver. LOVE this couple. I had been reading some darker books. I enjoyed this "fresh drink of water" of a story.

I'm a little embarrassed to say that I put off reading this because I "did" judge this book by the cover (which rather underwhelmed me), and I couldn't have been more wrong! While I love all of Lisa's works, this is definitely going up near the top of my most favorites already! What a surprising and wonderful read!

Prince Syrius is used to be overlooked by people. The youngest son, he's also what you might call a twink - smaller and more femme than his older brothers. Add to that the fact that he prefers men to women and his "secret" clothing kink, and it's easy to see why Syrius assumes that he's just not going to be anyone's idea of marriage material - until he meets King Mintyn! Dubbed the warrior king, Mintyn spends most of his time running his kingdom from horseback and in the company of his troops. Visiting an ally kingdom to strengthen trade agreements, he comes to the aid of a gorgeous young man with golden curls who is being accosted by some pompous royal dick. When Syrius confides his secret clothing kink, thinking that surely this will run Mintyn off, the king is stunned, aroused and suddenly determined to win the hand of the beautiful prince!

I have to say that this story is every wonderful fairytale all rolled up with whipped cream and a cherry on top! Where as it could have been sappy or over the top, it instead weaves a beautiful story about being unashamed of who you are and how what you see isn't always what you get! I was over-the-moon thrilled with the topic of men wearing what is traditionally ladies lingerie and how Syrius, not only owned his uniqueness but, also, made it profitable. His sass and fire were a perfect match for the smitten older king and I loved their dynamic and banter! Everything from the world building to the character development was spot on, detailed and added to the layers of the plot. There's emotion and intrigue and I was completely entranced from the very beginning! Syrius and Mintyn are now two of my favorite characters and I'd love to read more about them in further books! I think there's still stories left to tell here! Amazing read and I highly recommend this one! Just perfection!

Don't Judge!

Wow! A breath of fresh air! It has been a bit since reading you since I was binging everything! Cut myself off for a bit so I had something to look forward to. Then I saw this in my box.
I loved it. Yes it was MM. Yes it was like a fairytale but not completely.
But what I really loved was you have a twink (or twin) who has decided not to get married. When royals come for his sister, all of a sudden, there a bunch wanting to be his husband. Why? Their country has tons of natural resources. Fast forward. The twink, Sirius' Dad the King, Izzy, was meeting with his good friend King Mintyn considered by many to be a barbarian king. Izzy knew better. Mintyn saw Sirius across the room being bugged by a royal for his hand. Mintyn asked him to dance and the next thing SIRIUS knew his parents had drawn up a marriage contract with the King.
Much excitement ensued over a 24 hour period and he was married within 2 days! After a hot first night together, they made their way to King Mintyn's home. Ohh but the best part was when Sirius told Mintyn what he was wearing underneath his outfit. That only completely turned him on. Once he saw it on their wedding night and found out that Sirius was the designer of them all and had a very lucrative business. Mintyn decided that he would not only help him dress but also do whatever he could to help him with his business. They were very good partners with ideas.
What a wonderful marriage. I wanted to see what happened to Cinnamon, do they have any children?
But now I am going back to see what I have not read. I am desperate!
10 out of 10 book!

Blurb on the book From the Author: “This is one of those light stories that my muse weaves sometimes simply to make people smile. It is in the same universe as the Infidelity Clause but is totally standalone (Don't laugh, my lovely readers, it is honestly, standalone)”.

I picked up this book because I loved the first book in the series. After reading the blurb, I thought okay, I’m in. I ended up reading it in one sitting, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. This book is a delightful light romance featuring a couple who support each other and their kinks, share a love for grilled cheese sandwiches, and have families who adore them and just want to see them happy.

2.75⭐️

I was looking forward to reading this book as it is based in the same world as one of my fave reads of 2022, the Infidelity Clause. I had fun reading it, don't get me wrong, but it just didn't hit the right spot like the first book did. It was lighthearted and low angst to the point of it almost having no plot. The conflict towards the end just seemed tacked on. I love insta love as much as the next person but it just did not work in this case. The 2 MC's just went from strangers to to trusting each other and falling in love over a course of days not weeks or months.

But in the end I enjoyed reading this book even though it was mostly fluff and it was not a story that lingers in my mind, I can still say I had fun.

Fantastically Happy Story

I highly recommend this book for those that just want a happy story with minor angst. I loved the acceptance of the royal family of their son and brother, the total love and acceptance of each husband to the other, and the happy life continued for their future.

There was just enough angst to keep it interesting, and a whole lot of love for all the couples, but especially between the King and his Prince.

Also it was good to see the villains, both men and women get the justice they deserved.

I had no doubt there would be a happy ending, but with stories like this, you don't want them to end. Definitely worth reading and I dare you not to smile throughout the whole book!

I really like this new world Lisa Oliver has created. I can't wait what couples we are going to meet next.

There were a few things that were strange, like the nickname for King Mintyn being Minty, not one of my favs. I also expected a little more grunting from a warrior/barbarian king, maybe a bit more action.

What I liked was Syrius being a capable swordsman on his own and not relying on his warrior husband to save him. Kind Mintyn certainly seemed a man who would appreciate a spouse who wouldn't cower easily.

Overall a nice and quick afternoon read, especially if you are a fan of Lisa Olivers writing.

Terrific m/m romance

This might be considered a fantasy because of the made up world of kingdoms, Royals and magic. This book makes it all seem natural to the reader and lets them fall in love with our lovely young third prince. While his twin sister is being courted by eligible princes at a huge ball. Prince Syerius is not being put up for marriage contracts so is purposefully keeping a low profile but catches the eye of the Warrior King who asks his father for a marriage contract. So begins the courtship, attempted kidnappings, the special undergarments and the love story. This was a delightful story and one I know I will read again in the future.

I loved this!

You’ve become my go-to author for everything, there’s only one series I haven’t bought yet and it’s next! With as much as I read I’m so glad you’re prolific but I’m also happy that I can read your books over and over again without ever getting tired of them.

Let your muse know there is chocolate on tap at all times! I know I’m not the only one waiting impatiently for everything you write. Thank you so much, you are absolutely amazing!

I loved almost everything about this, but two things kept it at four stars:

1) The steam is not very steamy. The first time in their new home is especially disappointing, after all that buildup.

2) The language is oddly clunky in places. English is not my first language, so I can't quite put my finger on it, but there were several times I was pulled out of the story because words or whole sentences looked weird to me.

Not too shabby!!

So this one was a little longer than Im used to for an MLM romance novel. Not in a bad way, but near the end I felt that the author was rushing to end the story after such a long and drawn out plot.
There is definitely a lot of sexual tension but don’t come into this one expecting too many spicy scenes. There’s maybe one or two, but even those felt as if they were rushed.
Great world building and lovely characters, 7.5/10 recommend!

I love this authors books. Syrius, is a Prince, and Myntyn, a King. They met when’s Mintyn saved Syrius from an overzealous Duke. One dance later and Minty was charmed, even when learning about Syrius quirks. When Syrius was almost kidnapped in the castle, they got married right away. I loved this world building. I also loved how Monty’s soldiers were in favour of this match. Great chemistry between them. Loved this,

I enjoyed this book so much! Prince Syrius and King Mintyn saw each other at an event unexpectedly, but each was immediately drawn to the other. Mintyn decided to pursue Syrius's hand in marriage. When he learned Syrius's secret - that he enjoyed wearing silky, beautiful undergarments - that only made him more attracted. This book is low-angst, passionate, and feel-good. Another fun book in a fun series.

Lovely story

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a wonderful no angst bit of fluff that was just the escape from reality I needed. I enjoy heavier stories but sometimes you just need the sweet and schmoopy stuff. Syrius and Minton were so perfect together. It was funny and sweet. I also love Minton’s in laws. I would read any story in this universe!

Wonderful Read.

This was a wonderfully enjoyable read. Is it really an arranged marriage when both the main characters felt something for each other before the marriage? It was other peoples’ hang ups and greed they had to overcome before their happy ever after not their own. This was a wonderful illustration of being true to your own self. Well worth the read.

A probable BookFunmel download, Oliver's delightful tale set in a world of castles, magic and dragons features charming MCs where Opposites Attract. The lightning fast courting followed by a slow-as-mud courtship, amusingly stupid villains, abductions, and men in lingerie creates an entertaining story.

A fun read.

Enjoyed this one immensely. It had fun characters and character development that has been a bit lacking in some of their regular paranormal series lately. It was clear the author was having fun writing this one.
