About the author

Margaret Tanner is an award winning, best selling author.

As well as writing historical novels set in frontier Australia she has discovered a love for writing Western Romance.
Her novella, Edwina of Connecticut is one of the 50 novels in the American Mail Order Bride series. Christmas Cowboy is in the Western Christmas Anthology, Silver Belles And Stetsons.

She has had numerous short stories published over the years, but writing Historical romance novels is her passion.

Her favourite historical period is the 1st World War. Not only has she painstakingly researched this era, but was fortunate enough to make a poignant pilgrimage to the battlefields of Gallipoli (in Turkey), France and Belgium.

She is married with three grown up sons, and two gorgeous grand-daughters. Margaret lives in Australia. She has recently retired from work, and hopes to concentrate on her writing.

I am enjoying this series of books by Margaret Tanner and this one I read straight through. A short and sweet storyline with plenty of angst, romance, wonderful main characters with plenty of nasty villains to keep me glued to the story. Looking forward to book 6 which I think is the last. JudyE

A close escape for Iris and Trent

I really like Iris and Trent, no matter what hand life deals them they face it, keep their chin up and make the best of a bad situation... independently they are strong but together they are unstoppable.
I am glad they finally find their 'home', together, but wouldn't it be nice if Larry and his Denton posse finally get what is due to them.

This is a sweet and heartwarming story yet one with lots of human frailties and emotions which includes danger, evil men, rejection, secrets, faith and romance. This is Iris Whitford and Trent Harris' story and the character development is excellent. Iris headed west to become a MOB to find out when she arrived her intended groom had already wed another. She went to work in the local saloon when Trent Harris rides into town. The couple meet and immediately marry then danger and evil come riding into town. Will real honest to goodness feelings grow between the couple and become a HEA? Will the couple be able to protect each other from the danger that is stocking them? Be sure and read this great story to find out; I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Both parties in a mail order bride contract were taking a chance on whether the other party was being honest, in Iris’s case, he was not. Margaret Tanner gives us a portrait of what that would mean and how limited choices were when that happened. Denton, Nevada, was an evil town. Thankfully there were a few good or semi-good people still there. I really enjoyed this book of two untrusting people forming an alliance/marriage.

Trent and Iris

This is an adventurous and exciting tale Of a young mail order bride arriving only to discover her groom has married another. She ends up having to work in the saloon singing and playing the piano. She meets a young man, Trent, at the saloon having dinner and drink. Danger comes calling on Iris and Trent comes to her rescue and they decide to marrying at for connivence. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.

Iris was stranded in Denton and ended up playing piano and singing at a saloon but she refused to be one of the upstairs girls.Denton is an awful place and gets worse as she finds out.Trent stops in Denton overnight and is nearly done in.Will they meet and leave together?? Very good story! Iris was an overcomer, and never wavered in her faith that God would see her through. Trent was a different story and it took him awhile to see the light. Together, they forged through and had their happily ever after ❤️

Denton corruption

Denton was featured in an earlier book where evil prevails. Trent and Iris meet there, both having suffered from the actions of unsavory characters. Escaping together, they marry hesitantly. This is a good story!
