A Family's Struggle. A Mafia Man's Greed.During the height of the formula crisis, a young mother, Tina, begins selling her breastmilk to a milk bank.
When Tina's husband goes on a gambling spree that leaves the couple indebted to a ruthless loan shark named Ronny, Tina has no choice but to capitulate to Ronny's demands.
As the young couple desperately tries to pay off their debt, Ronny increasingly raises the stakes.
Tina hits her breaking point when she is forced to perform sexual acts for a clientele of men who pay to indulge their depraved fetishes.
Trapped in a dangerous situation spiraling rapidly out of control, the couple finds support where they least expect from an ex-convict-turned-evangelical and the family he's at odds with.
This book is nuts! The first half is a slow-burn as you get to know the many characters and their connections. This is also the part of the book you can actually dive deeper to get a comparison between true poverty and excessive wealth. Although Jason is the reason for his wife, Tina, and three children under three to be in their precarious predicament, the way they live is heartbreaking. Tina finds a way to sell her breast milk to try to help ends meet.
The second half of the book is where all the action is! Jason has gotten himself in a situation where he’s out of a job, out of money, and owes Ronny some money. Ronny is no longer interested in receiving his money, he wants Tina.
The story itself has potential and kept me flipping pages to find out what exactly was going to happen. It’s definitely a wild ride and worth the read but I felt like the ending was too condensed. So much happened in just a few pages and I feel like there are some loose ends that need to be tied up.
This was a strange premise, but reflective of the strange times we are living in. The milk aspect was lost a bit in the second half of the book, but that’s also when the plot picked up a bit. All the twists and turns with the plot near the end were great at keeping my attention, and I loved the interconnectedness of all the characters. I did not love the ending, although I suppose it sets up the base for additional books, and I don’t really love what happened with Jason.
Overall, a quick read, intriguing, but not quite my favorite.

The premise of this book is very interesting, and then to have so many families and lives intertwined in the telling of the story made it exciting.
There were a lot of characters in the story and many plot lines so the reader needs to really pay attention to keep up with everything. The characters varied from good people down on their luck, trying to get back on their feet and improve their lives, while others continue to drag them down. Then there were those that were willing to take advantage of the current situation for their own benefit and of course some real scumbags and criminals as well. The story was heart breaking at times, and also made me angry as Hell, but I surely was engaged.
This book is well worth your time.

This is the third of this author's books that I have had the pleasure of reading. Ms. Wittman writes bold stories with characters that could easily be your neighbors, your fellow P.T.A. members, your friends. I was engaged from the get-go with this one. The story moves along smoothly with no hitches. Well written in plain language that takes you along a road that is difficult to step off of. The only complaint that I could possibly have is the abrupt ending. There is one character in particular that will really stay with me for a while, wondering of the final outcome for them. Good reading. I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest and unbiased opinion of the tale.
C.A. WittmanThis is an amazing read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest revie
Milk, just about gave me whiplash trying to keep up with the multitude of gritty characters. This starts off slowly, but before long it becomes a twisted, conniving horror story for the family of a gambling addict with a horrible habit of borrowing money from the wrong people. This is going to be an interesting series!
This author is an automatic read for me. I’ve reader several books from this author and I haven’t been disappointed. A domestic thriller about a family who become overwhelmed and trying to survive. Tina is a mother who starts selling her breastmilk for money. While trying to keep her family afloat, her husband Ronny is driving them deeper in debt with his gambling. Their life becomes chaotic when a loan shark enters their lives. Another exciting thriller, with excellent characters and just an outstanding story that keeps getting better until the end.
