The Keres Love Torture. The Keres Love Pain. I Love Kicking Their Teeth In.
The Goddess of Violent Death has shown up to the party, and she's doing what she does best: destroying shit.
My team of grave diggers are having to run buckshot in an effort to rein her in. That's a tall order, especially when the Keres have the backing of the other lesser gods. Her boss, Perses, is doing whatever he can to get me to fight--specifically me--but I have no idea why.
Someone's taking notes, though.
Whatever.
We either stop her or we watch the fabric of reality shred. That's the gig I was created for, and I'm damn good at it.
If it were only me dealing with it, I'd be loving life, but now that I have a team to worry about, things are more confused. To be fair, if I didn't have a team, I'd lose this war so fast that the council gods would have to step in.
Not even Perses wants that.

Enter the Keres, torture aficionados extraordinaire! Perses ultimate plan still is a mystery, but evidently the next step is to get Grave to fight. I doubt Perses is a fanboy, so let's assume recon.
Problem 1: It's best not to do what the enemy wants, but Grave can't let the torture of innocents go unchallenged.
Problem 2: Grave's team is new. None of them (including Grave) have experience in team dynamics, and there isn't a training montage in sight.
So he answers by multitasking, sending parts of the team to tackle the problems and enraging the Keres by refusing to engage.
The results are fun, often hilarious and violent, and possibly destined to become a manual of how to (or not to) train a super team. Great times all around.

I love this series!
The laughs for me just keep coming. There were a couple scenes that almost had me in tears, they were that funny.
Again, the battle scenes are great! I like how they are starting to realize they need to listen to Grave because he has the experience. Allowing teams of 2 to tackle the different locations gave them some valuable lessons in fighting against different types of supes.
We got to meet a new member of the team…Gene the genie. And what a genie he is!
I can’t wait to jump into,the next book!!!

Grave Spirits: The Grave Digger Mythos Book Two by John P. Logsdon is sooooo good. Great characters, action, wonderful plot, humor.
My favorite character is Mitzy. Just wait until you get to her fight scene with the sentries.
Of course I will no longer listen to Sweet Caroline the same way.
Everyone is developing and becoming more interesting. Even the ‘bad’ guys. Just what is Keres doing and why? And what is Perses’ endgame?
This book, the entire series, is a must read.

John P Logsdon has proven himself again and again to be a great author. His writing is full of imagination, wit and fast-paced action that just come to life on the page to make you wince and, more often than not, wince again (often with a smile on your face!).
This, Book 2 of the Grave Digger Mythos, is no different. It takes you by the hand and leads you through the continuing chain of events conspiring against Grave and his team.
This, in short, is a really great story.

refreshingly hilarious
I stumbled onto this series when I was looking for a different paranormal that did not involve racy sex every other page. I found it here in the Grave Digger series. I absolutely love these books and the off the wall sense of humor keeps me chuckling. If you like kick ass hero’s that stand up for the underdog, Grave might be for you. Great writing and great wit you will love it. Happy reading.

Yet another riotous journey through Grave"s world. The author has brought to life the creatures of mythology and added a good dose of humour. These books, though reasonably long pass very quickly, when you are lost in the worlds created with such skill.
I would rate this books along with the likes of Terry Pratchet, cleverly written with amazing world and character building. Absolutely great read.

Mayhem, and I mean that literally. The Keres are seriously turned on by death - the more violent, the better. And they've set their sights on Grave and his team to get their fix.
Grave's team is new, raw. But they have to shape up fast to take on these goddesses.

Talk about team building exercises! All the action and humor of the first book, with plenty of character growth. The team is coming together and Grave must learn to be a better leader. Expect to break out in fits of laughter!

I'm loving this series so far. The characters are well written and there is a lot of humour throughout. I can't wait to find out more about these people. As a Classicist it's great to see the Pantheon brought to life. And who wouldn't love a Mitzy of their own?

I fully admit that from Grave Digger's team, i am not fully invested in all the characters. A mixture of sophomoric humor and mythos from the past, this was Ann enjoyable easy read. Two of the new side characters are a lot of fun.

Really Good
This book had it all. Cool characters lots of action and a great storyline. On top of everything is the great humor. That scene where Carin punched thru grave to the dumpster was especially funny. John is one of my favorite authors.

Funny and good

Good read
I enjoyed reading this book. A different take on a battle or way with the Greek gods. Digger is an interesting character, so are the rest of his crew but...

Breathtaking.. literally breathtaking.
Re-read that headline one more time… because that word, “literally,” literally does mean what I think it does. So when I say, literally breathtaking, I am not waxing poetic.
Now I’m not sure if you’ll find yourself starved for oxygen possibly because of laughter but also conceivably nausea. After all, both are fairly common responses throughout the entire read along with a few other gut-level, visceral emotional responses that similarly have the capacity to leave you flailing for breath for one reason or another. One of my favorites is the pure shock one feels as one reads some of these scenes. But I digress.
In my last review I stated that John had really upped his game with this series. And that continues to hold true with this book as well. Without a doubt, John is writing at an entirely new level of proficiency and the results are stunning. Well, actually, most of the villains are stunned, but you know what I mean… You can see why I don’t write comedy for a living.
Anyway, this is an amazing series from a phenomenal author. So you’re guaranteed to ENJOY!

Grave Digger and his army are still learning how to work together. Lucky for them the spirits known as the Keres are happy to give them ample opportunity to train. Some of the deaths, especially Izzy’s, were comical. I’m still loving Marj. She is a fun character. I hope we eventually get a bit more back stories for all of the team. Endro’s seems to be tragic. As a kid, Athena was always my favorite of the Greek gods mostly due to her owl. Having Endro as a noble warrior is fitting. Gene seems like someone that is best in small doses. I’m looking forward to the next book.
