What do you do when your toddler throws a tantrum every time you go to the grocery store? How do you handle a teenager who wants to stay out all night? And how do you teach kids to be polite? Experienced parent and workshop leader Kathy Lynn has written a reassuring and helpful book for every parent. Her underlying message is that parents play a key role in raising children with high self-esteem, solid character, and independence, but parents could use a little guidance too. Each chapter tackles a common parenting issue with practical advice and a question-and-answer section featuring the real-life situations faced by listeners to Kathy Lynn's radio show and subscribers to her Parenting Today newsletter. With a foreword by Barbara Coloroso, author of the bestselling Kids Are Worth It! , this book is a great resource for parents, as well as teachers and grandparents.
I am a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. I write historical fiction based on my real Cherokee ancestors in Tennessee. I have been educating others about Native Americans for the past four years. All of my presentations are adaptable for any age of audience. I have several wonderful programs available. Topics include Writing about Native Americans, I is Not for Indian, Cherokee Indians Yesterday and Today, The Trail of Tears and Tracing your Indian Heritage. My PowerPoint and video presentation, Cherokee Indians Yesterday and Today explores the Cherokees in their homeland in the southern United States, through the Trail of Tears, and ends with the Cherokee Nation today. The Trail of Tears covers Americas darkest period: President Andrew Jacksons Indian Removal Act of 1830 and the forced removal of the Cherokee Nation to Oklahoma in 1838. I is Not for Indian covers the stereotyping of Indians. I speak to schools, libraries and groups about the Cherokee and the Trail of Tears. I also teach writing groups ut about Native Americans."
With my major being Marriage, Family & Human Development at BYU, I think it is needless to say that I am very interested in this sort of topic. And Kathy Lynn is a wonderful example and expert in the area. This book is a great help in parenting. She touches on 13 issues in parenting and how to raise an independent, responsible and self-disciplined. Each chapter has a section of her thoughts followed by a Q&A section with questions from parents around the world. A lot of what she writes about pertains to older children, but the best time to plan how to raise an older child is to learn what to do and start implementing it when they are younger- I learned a LOT and this was my major! I highly recommend this book to any parent who wants to improve their parenting in any way- or who just wants some help knowing how to parent! :)
