As the star goalie of the championship-winning Hot Shots, I can have my pick of any girl on campus. Except the only one I really want. Talk about irony.
Brooke is beautiful, smart, funny—but, for me, totally off limits.
Thanks to her protective older brother, she’s going to stay that way.
Besides, she only thinks of me as a friend.
At least, that’s what I’ve always thought—until a scorching kiss proves me wrong.
Now, I’m sneaking around behind my best friend’s back with his little sister.
It feels wrong. It feels dirty.
It feels way too good to stop.
Until her brother finds out, and I’m forced to choose—my lifelong best friend, or the girl who just might be my future.
Own Goal is a full-length, standalone 65k-word college sports romance novel with lots of love, lots of drama, laugh-out-loud moments, a road trip of a lifetime, and a guaranteed happy-ever-after ending! The Hot Shots books are set in an interconnected world, but are all complete standalones and can be read in any order!
I wanted to really like this one..Don’t get me wrong..Pretty decent storyline. However.. (and I don’t know if this was done intentionally) but I just couldn’t get the character name mixups out of my head as I tried to finish the story. Book has so much potential otherwise.
This is book number 4 of the Hot Shots series and focuses on Cole and Brooke. They grew up together since Cole is best friends with Brooke’s brother Gage. Since Cole and Brooke go to the same school, Cole promised Gage that he would look after Brooke. Cole definitely took his promise to heart and was definitely overprotective when it came to Brooke. All it took for Cole and Brooke to finally look deeper into how they feel about each other was a road trip to see her brother. It doesn’t take long for them to finally realize that they have always been in love with each other and to fight for their love. I love that once they realized what they were feeling, they were all in and determined to fight for their relationship. I have been impatiently waiting for this book to come out and I am so happy with how it turned out! I have been reading this series since the very beginning and I can honestly say this series just gets better and better. This was a great story and a great addition to the series! Can’t wait to see what else this author has in store for us.

I LOVED IT SO MUCH But... KEEP THE NAMES STRAIGHT!!! All the misspelling, incorrect grammar, and mixed up names ruins the read for me. It makes it feel like I'm not reading an actual book but some sort of fanfiction on Wattpad or something along those lines. Otherwise I loved the whole tension and I was honestly surprised to find out that they had even been able to convince themselves that they weren't in love, I thought they were just in denial and didn't tell anyone else. So seeing their POV's and finding out they hadn't realized their feelings for the other surprised me after reading the previous books in the series.
Cole and Gage have been best friends, as far back as, forever. In the wings always trying, to get a small glimpse of Cole, is Gage’s little sister, Brooke. The boys made a pact that when, the guys start sniffing around, asking, to see Brooke, Cole would help, Gage keep an eye on his sister. Shooing away any guy who thought, she is open season. Making dating difficult in junior high, high school, and now college. Here she thought, finally her brother would be working on a ship, and traveling so, no more watchdog needed.
Boy is she wrong. Because of, Gage, the way he has been overprotective, she keeps feeling a need, for more thrills. Such as going, to a dive bar with an idiot, who openly picks a fight with, a biker and his woman, that are noticeably drunk. Who does that? So, her being out from under the watchful eye of, her older brother’s super-protective best friend, Cole is the whole point, to why she does it. In her mind enough said. But, when she tends, to get in these thrill-seeking moods, and alcohol involved she loses all her sense of her, own safety.
However, imagine her relief, and ire when he comes, to the rescue again. Relief because the dweeb she is with, made matters worse, and ire because once again one of his many snitches, told on her. Not to mention, if he would just see her already, as a woman and not as, her brother’s little sister. They might stand a chance, at being together. When her brother calls to say he will be in LA, and that he wants the two of them, her and Cole, to do a road trip.
Brooke thinks this will be her chance, to get him, to see her. Boy, he is seeing her. This has many tender moments, tearful moments, and moments that will make you say, ‘Girl make him grovel.’
He is her brothers best friend. He has always been around and she has always liked him. Then their off at college and he's supposed to be protecting her but instead they are secretly falling in love with each other but don't admit it until they are on their way to visit her brother one drunken night. Eventually, they fight for each other and find their happily ever after.

Brooks has had an unacknowledged Cole for most of her life. He is in much the same position. It comes to a head with close quarters after they decide to take a cross-country road trip to visit her brother, Cole’s best friend Gage. They are full on from the first kiss, but have an expiration date and a plan to keep it secret. I really like their humor. Gage is a big pain in the rear and short-sighted when Cole and Brooke pull their heads out of their rears. They also have great friends helping them.

A brother‘s best friend and hockey romance rolled into one how could it go wrong?
This book is honestly so sweet, call and Brooke at everything a college romance is, especially with his alpha male tendencies Borden by him believing it’s because he is protector in the absence if her brother. Watching their romance grow over the course of the road trip was perfection.
It’s a 2.5 spice but fourstars all over.

reread from jan of 23 it was good, and it was good the first time. this author needs a new editor so bad. cole was cute. i wish we had more of the college scene and the side characters from the other books. also they mentioned brooke had a heart scare when she was a kid and then mentioned nothing else about it the rest of the book? what was the point in even having that piece of information if there was going to be no elaboration at any point in the book. also her brother is an immature piece of shit lol sorry not sorry
Sports college stories often tend to be juvenile in one way or another but this one beats that quite well. I would have loved it had it been proofread at all regarding typos that are unfortunately tooooooo many and come in clusters for lack of better words. So in stead of four fine stars I can only give it three. When I pay for a book I expect it not to have 30 ir more typos and errors...

I have read all 4 book in this series and loved the others but this is the best so far.. ok to be fair, I’ve probably said that each time! But I’ve loved them all, plus this author just keeps getting even better each time. Can’t wait to read more.

Even though I really liked the book. The thing with friends to lovers or brothers best friend or whatever sometimes i dont get the in-depth of building a relationship with them. With these their feelings are already there. So sometimes its hard for me to catch up. But all in all I still liked the book.
I love these two together. Siblings best friend and a hockey romance in one...sign me up. I love these two and their story. It took them long enough to admit their feelings for each other, but they finally got there. It took an older experienced couple to put him in his place, but he got it.
A brother's best friend sports romance about characters that hid their feelings for each other so as not to upset the friendship dynamic. It was a fun read with some spice.

Hahahaha the cover for this book is so funny and it was the most cliche thing I’ve ever read but it sure was fun to read while doing nothing for hours on my MICU rotation at the VA with no internet connection
This is hockey meets off limits meets forced proximity story that is well done with a solid base friendship behind them. The forced proximity isn't cliché but allows them the space to realise their feelings.

fastest book ive read lol. brooke and cole own my heart especially brooke. he was a bit too overprotective at first and i wish there was more like jealousy or tension between them to better help build them getting together but i had a good time reading nonetheless.
Cole & Brooke This is the fourth book in Mrs. Lemire's Hot Shot series. While this is the last book out, based on the ending of it, I would assume there will be at least one more out–Ryders story. While I enjoyed Mrs. Lemire's writing, I don’t think I’ll be reading any more in the series. Maybe down the road, but not now. I really enjoyed this book. It’s of course written in my favorite trope– Best Friend’s Sister, so I knew I would at least like it. While this is technically a Hockey Romance, this book takes place at the end of the semester, leading into the summer. I liked the whole premise of this story. They did so much together it was surprising they didn’t realize sooner. But I understand fear was holding them back. The rode trip was a lot of fun. I was so happy when they finally gave into their feelings for each other! Geez! The build up was insane. But worth it. I also read the bonus chapter where they tell the team that they’re dating and then we get an extra bonus steamy scene. I was grinning the whole time I read it. Altogether a really good book! Short, steamy and swoony! I would definitely recommend.
If you’re looking for an amazing, steamy, swoony jockey romance, I would definitely recommend Samantha Whiskey’s Carolina Reapers Series. I’m almost finished with it, and it’s amazing!
