The Bank Robbers #6

The Best Trick

Rate this book
My guys and I are stunned when our worst enemy, Agent Denko, comes to us for help.
Agent Denko, the man whose fondest wish is to destroy us in the most disturbing way possible, needs our help.
Wuuuuuut?
Are pigs flying? Has hell frozen over? Has Odin’s way of removing his glasses stopped being sexy?
Never!
At first, we’re sure it’s a trick. My guys’ protective instincts are on full alert as they turn their sights on the man who’s had us in his sights for too long.
It’s foolish to trust Agent Denko…right? But what if he really needs our help?
How can we push him away when he holds the key everything we’ve always wanted?

Picking up some time after the conclusion of the previous book, The Best Trick opens with the God Pack living it up in a secluded Airbnb and loving it. They want to stay but Zeus is insistent they leave since it’s been ten days and they have a rule. Once on the road, the gang gets up to their usual antics until their enemy, Agent Denko of ZOX tracks them down. In exchange for evidence that can clear their names, the gang must track down Denko’s kidnapped dog, Doris.

The Best Trick is the perfect ending to one of the sexiest, silliest, most entertaining series I’ve read. The books follow four, married-as-a-group, bank robbers who crave excitement and kinky times. Although each story is a standalone mystery, the entire series should be read in order since each book builds upon the previous in both character development and over-arching storyline.

It’s been over five years since the release of the previous book, and I’ve really missed these guys. I’ve grown attached to the foursome as they’ve grown close and developed a loving relationship over the years. The Best Trick is emotionally satisfying as the characters address some of their darker emotions and deep-routed issues. At times, I was on the edge of my seat as I worried for the very souls of the characters, but the group shines in their ability to love one another no matter what. The back and forth between the group provides both heart-wrenching and yet comforting moments as they give of themselves out of love.

Although the story starts of slowly, once the group begins their search for Doris, the pace picks up dramatically. The gang must explore every avenue, often tracking down dead-end leads. I loved watching the gang piece together the clues to figure out who took Doris. Although two of the God Pack are former spies and have excellent investigative skills, each member of the foursome have strengths that help solve the mystery. I love how the guys look to Isis as she reads people and notices things the others do not.

And rounding out the emotions and action is Ms. Martin’s quirky humor which infuses both the good and dark times. The gang uses humor to lighten the mood, to make up after an intense discussion, and to tease one another, leading to sexy times. One of my favorite moments in The Best Trick is the whole discussion centering on whether or not a surprise is still a surprise if you know a surprise is coming.

In the end, I love Kinky Bank Robbers series hard. I take great delight in how much the characters have grown over the course of each book. I love that they care about each other so much, and how they express it. Most of all, I love that the author will allow these guys to be dark, yet their mutual love protects them from going too far. The Best Trick caps off the series with an outlandish, yet emotionally deep and intelligent plot that fans of the series will love.

Quickie review: 4 stars. Aww, sad to see this series end! One of my very faves. So fun, sexy and original. This is such a great series and will remain one of my favorites. I love Isis, Thor, Odin and Zeus. The God Pack is so fun and I would read ten more books about their everyday life, especially one where they aren't on the run, are safe and happy, and with babies! 4 stars for this book, but 5 stars for the series overall.

These books are always so over the top and that is the appeal. It's interesting to see all the craziness that happens this time around. From just relaxing while hiding out, to trying to exonerate themselves and having a nosy airbnber. I did love the sneaky training Odin did with a certain dog and how it worked! The ending was great! Loved that finally these guys can live in the open, all of them doing what they love and be who they are. A great end to the series.

The writing in this series is horrible and cheesy, but it has a place in my heart because it was my first exposure to reverse harem before I even knew what it was.

Oh my dogs! I LOVE this book. It's the sixth and final part of an epic, romantic, HILARIOUS, contemporary, reverse harem romance / mystery. This is my favorite series out of all the contemporary RH I've read so far. I'm a little sad that this is the last one, but I'm happy with the way things ended. This is another action-packed, whirlwind adventure with a few breaks for hot loving. There's just about everything I could ask for the God Pack: a very happy ending, fun times mixed in with the tough times, a bit of back story revealed, and a few new... foods to try.

Like the previous three books, one of the God Pack is dealing with a personal issue. No spoilers here, but if you've read the others, it's easy to see where I'm going with this. Even though these four people are as thick as thieves (Heh), one of them is hurting and not everybody knows about it. I feel like saying "There's a dollop of reality in my funny book," but I'm SO not complaining. It make for an excellent, emotionally satisfying story.

I also enjoyed the mystery part, although I did figure it out around half-way into the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the red herrings and the seemingly random things.

A few of my favorite random - and not-so-random - things: the cheese police, the hot air ballon misadventure, the dogs playing pool paintings, the firecrackers, Denko's dog's name, the Airbnbs, and the Easter eggs from other books by this author ("That's proprietary!").

I laughed, I cried, I splooshed!

Despite being on the run, the God Pack are living the best life: fabulous Airbnbs, hot tubs, outdoor excursions … but something seems off within the group. Odin can’t sleep and Thor has been throwing off grumpy vibes lately. Zeus needs everyone to stick with his rules and Isis is trying to keep up a brave and upbeat face. In the middle of their restless discontent drops Agent Denko with a surprising proposition.

Denko needs the God Pack to recover Doris, his dog-napped German Shepherd. He’s dangling something the foursome desperately wants as a trade. This kicks the gang into action and it’s glorious! Zeus and Odin are the superspies but it’s so fun to see the four of them acting as a team and how the guys seek out Isis’s opinions and cherish her in every way possible. If I didn’t love them already, I would fall in love all over again. Seriously, they are the greatest “romantic unit” as Zeus would say.

Annika Martin revisits Isis and her husbands to give each of them, and us, closure and vindication. This is truly satisfying. I loved the “yet another epilogue” and wish the God Pack a happy life, whatever their new future holds.

What an ending for the God Pack story - the epilogue really is the best trick! This risk-rife thriller is full of heart - because "love is the biggest risk of all", so when they run for their lives, all their decisions unapologetically, fiercely, equally, selflessly protect their only possession which needs never be discarded.
I love all their personalities, which blend together in this eccentric, quirky, close-knit family. They are all so special when taken apart, and perfect together. They each put the happiness and safety of the others above their own wants, and this at some point saves the day, when chosen above redemption.

The plot is very clever and fast-paced, the writing so good, and the blending of humor and sadness well balanced. I first discovered this author with the bank-robbers series, and have read all her books since - she never disappoints, and I'll never stop eagerly looking forward to reading her next creation.

I’ve waited a couple of years for the Kinky Bank Robbers to return. Was it worth. - of course. Happy person over here.

Discovered this author from another book series and will say she is the one introduced me to RH. Her reverse harem books are definitely different than others of the genre. For one thing there more light hearted vs dark.

Loved revisiting Isis, Odin, Zeus, and Thor again. The last book left so many possibilities for their story to continue on one more book. There still on the run but this time their biggest foe needs their help and we’ll when it involves pets I can’t say I blame them for helping and getting their freedom.

The heavy steam and witty dialogue is still there as well as the ever present danger. Have to read the book to see if they get the perfect HEA and revenge.

Can’t be read alone. You will need to read the previous books.

* I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

Fans of the God Pack had to wait a long time for this book, but it was absolutely worth the wait. Fortunately it was delivered to my Kindle early this Sunday morning and I didn't have much to do so I could read it in one go. As in the previous books in the series there are some very explicit sex scenes. Normally when it comes to the steamy part I am not at all into stuff like bondage and spanking, and I don't enjoy dark romance. But in this case it's all so light and playful and funny, and Isis who is the narrator really enjoys what's happening and even encourages it. So I don't mind at all! All the main figures are very well characterized and develop throughout the series and also this book. And we also get to revisit some characters from previous books. Apart from that the plot is full of suspense, and a lot of humor, unexpected turns, and the end actually made me cry - not because I was sad, but because it was so beautiful!

A great ending to a wonderful series!

Kudos to Annika Martin for such a cohesive and consistent series! I absolutely loved the twisty ending. Perfect for our Bank Robbers quadrouple!

My favourite thing was how selfless each of these individuals were. Definitely a hive mind situation going on at the end. I’ve said it before, but I really respected that their love for each other never wavered and any blips along the way were more about self-loathing and not wanting to drag the gang down than wanting to leave it.

Definitely not heavy reading, but this book in particular gave me the deep feels.

It was fun, outlandish, and oh so worth reading! Give it a try!

I fucking love this series and I didn't know a new book was coming out until 2 weeks before the release date! I was super excited, however I didn't love it as much as I wanted to unfortunately. Still love the characters but the whole detective plot is not for me, that's why book 4 also wasn't my favorite but the steamy scenes and their relationship saved that book, so I love to reread it. But I didn't feel the love in this book, (maybe I'm just a big hoe, but where was the sex... I mean.. , romance!)

Amazing Series!

I laughed. I cheered. I felt as if I was hanging by my fingertips!
Throughout each and every novel in this six book series, I laughed myself silly, and fell completely in love with these four awesome characters!
I was taken all over the world, learned sometimes the good guys do win, and loved the author taught love is more than just between couples, throuples, etc, it's family. Family we choose.

Absolutely Stellar!
I began with the first and could not put down till I finished the final book.

Totally Recommend.

As always, Annika Martin entertains us yet again with some good stuff! It's been a hot minute since we've heard from the God Pack (and I'm also ridiculously behind on reading Annika's books since I last.. yeah. I have a lot to catch up on!).

I loved the whole detective work and smexy stuff.

I know people love dogs, heck, I love dogs, but I had to double check to see if I wasn't reading a Grumpy Billionaire book... then again... Doris and Smuckers would make the best of friends, wouldn't they?

THIS IS IT!!!! This book has it all, cheese police, a puppy, and been-there-done-that hot tubs. The God Crew is at it again, on the run, and solving a mystery along the way. They are also, possibly, getting some personal satisfaction, as they do all that and more. This was an amazing read, it had me laughing, cheering, and crying, at regular intervals, and a deep sense of satisfaction when I finished. This is it, and it was fabulous <3

This was the most beautiful sendoff for the most awesome gang! With the Godpack Annika has mastered creating three totally swoonworthy men that are just a perfect unit. And Isis, I so love Isis too. So it's bitter sweet that it's ending but oh the ending was sooo worth it! If you love the other books in the series you will want devour this one! Thank you Annika for your brilliant mind, I can't wait for your next release!

I've loved this series from the start (which should be read in order) and the final book was no exception. Suspense, action, humour, mystery, twists, disguises and of course..... hot tubs! Maybe it wasnt quite as steamy as previous books, but you can definitely feel the love and the epilogues were perfect.

Is it over, is this really the end of the kinky Bank robbers? Zeus, Odin, Thor and Isis, its been a hell of a ride I've thoroughly enjoyed!

Hard to believe it's over, but here we have it, the final in the series and oh my it's awesome. If you have to pee do so before you start! The flow is fast paced and just keeps you turning page after page. It has so many feel good moments and just enough spice so you don't forget what these four are all about. Throw in the rescue of a dog and you have a fantastic mix. I just love these characters and the love and support they give each other, but the ending wow, just wow. Annika has done these guys justice, and it's nice to see each of them find their unique peace.

What a fabulous end to the Bank Robbers series (with the addition of Doris, the adorable dog)!! It’s funny, entertaining with the same charming characters that you love from the previous books. This used to be my favorite romance series, but the author should have ended it a book or two before this. This book took years to come out, and you can tell it's because she was out of ideas. I'm glad she didn't go down the baby/pregnancy route. That would have been all wrong for the characters. But really, there was no point to this book and I lost interest and didn't even finish it.

What an ending to the series!! I’m so happy they found what made them all happy.

Just like in the previous books in the series, The Best Trick has enough mystery, love, comedy and heat.. and a dog… you can’t ever go wrong with a dog. It also has loads of badassery, God Pack style.
