With her tropical island vacation drawing to the end, that’s about all that’s nearly over for Senna Marsh. She still has to figure out who is responsible for her benefactor’s death and how that connects to her witchy origins. Not to mention covering the latest story of the most ridiculous jewelry heist in the history of jewelry heists.
Between mastering the book of spells she’s inherited, trying to reform the bad habits of her familiar, and being accused of mad capers to prevent her newspaper’s demise, she’s barely had time to enjoy her summer fling with the sinfully hot sheriff.
She may need to think about extending her stay on Fade Island.
I enjoyed the first book in the series and looked forward to the follow up. This book. I'm afraid the plotting didn't live up to the first book. I found this one a little cliche though I did like the relationship progression.
I was very disappointed in the author. If you're going to take a character from one of the most popular series in modern literature and use them as a plot point ... Don't MISSPELL their name. A 30 second google search would verify the correct spelling. We're not talking an indepth dive into minutae, you don't even have to leave the search results page. That set the tone and easily lowered my rating by at least a star. Hard work deserves recognition...so does laziness.
This second book in the Fade Island series is as almost much fun as the first one "Mad Hats & Trouble" Great to get to know the characters better & to see the sparks continue to fly between Senna and the Sheriff. Pure escapism from all the bad news on the TV, and a delightful cozy mystery to read while wrapped up cosily on a wet summer's afternoon! I'm so looking forward to book 3 in the series - and finding out how Gabriel reacts to Senna's witchy side, what happens to the newspaper and whether Senna stays on Fade Island forever.
She sells seashells, jewelry that is, but is it worth anything?
Senna is quickly coming up on her last week at Fade Island. Not sure if the paper will survive and eager to see if there is more to be had with Gabriel the sheriff. As she soaks up the island Book Worm festivities she stops in a seashell jewelry shop to purchase gifts. That's when a Voldemort comes in, threatening her life and robs the place. Why is cheap looking seashell jewelry the focus and who is the dead man?
As almost always not as good as the first book, but it was still a very entertaining read. The new case was a bit too confusing and convenient for my liking while there was no progress at all in the mystery of Senna’s origins or the murder of Jeremiah. I really had hoped we’d get at least the latter of those two. Still, the interactions with Gabriel were tantalizing and those with Ebner still hilarious while also interesting. So off I am to the next one, can’t wait really to dig into it. Always a good sign.
This was a delight to read. Super cute and very engaging. Love the writing and how easy it was. To get through it. A definite cozy, easy to read cute mystery read with a tad bit of romance. Can’t wait to read on Senna’s next adventure
Senna and Gabe have finally gone on an official date. Senna is exploring her new witchy powers. What is next? I’m looking forward to reading the next installment of this sweet series.
A great series. Well written, great plot with a surprising, well thought out ending to each book. These books can be stand alone. These books are funny and enjoyable, clean with a hint of naughty. Enjoy 😉
I really enjoyed the first book. It is always hard to live up to a great book, but this sequel fell a little short. Still a good read, but lacked some of the intriguing storylines included in the first book.
Not as good as book 1 as far the mystery goes, it was a little too heisty for me. I've never really enjoyed follow the money mysteries. However I did like the progress that was made in Senna & Gabriel's relationship, sigh.
Book 2 finds Senna extending her trip to the island and getting embroiled in another murder and a robbery. There is romance, humor, danger, mystery, and magic. Highly entertaining.
These books are just fun to read! Really good stories, awesome characters, great concept, and really nice location! I have really high hopes for future stories!
