This book examines the history and interpretation of the Baptist distinctive of conscience and its influence on the wider Church and world. It also considers a period when Baptists failed to fight for American Prohibition. The similarities between American Prohibition and the COVID years are then discussed, followed by a defence of conscience against medical mandates.
Baptists have a long history of fighting for conscience, so much so that “liberty of conscience” is integral to Baptist identity. That is, the necessity to worship and obey God, as the conscience understands in light of Scripture.
For those of us who are educating ourselves using a Charlotte Mason approach in order to better educate our children and help them understand the time period between 1400-1688 (AO Y8) this book makes all the difference. The corresponding principles set forth here connect to 2020 in astonishingly clear ways.
It is not only a must read, but a must study, must contemplate, must refer, must discuss.
I hope the authors have at least some small inkling of the gift they have shared with us by going so far above and beyond a typical history/philosophy/current event book.
Well done gentleman. I hope to see you both in heaven.
