Kevin Cade has no hope of ever finding love. How could he—he can't even say the word “gay.” In small-town Wisper, Wyoming, men like him don't exist. Not out loud, anyway. And revealing his secret could ruin everything for his brothers and their business.
What if they can’t accept him?
Until the new vet arrives at Cade Ranch and saves his life—in more ways than one.
Luuk van der Wouden is everything Kevin has ever wanted: he’s confident, charming, and his Dutch accent is sexy as hell. But Kevin can’t give Luuk what he needs, not without risking his whole life, and he won’t force Luuk to hide who he is.
As Luuk drifts away, Kevin will have to face his own truths—or lose the best thing to ever happen to him.
The third book in The Cade Ranch Series, BUSTED, is a steamy M/M romance about finding love and holding it tight—no matter what people say.
Trigger Warnings: Adult Situations and language. Themes of parental loss and pet loss. You might cry a little, but you’ll also laugh and cheer and fall in love. And there is always a guaranteed HEA.

This is the third book in The Cade Ranch series and I finally got to read Kevin Cade and Luuk van der Wouden's story. I definitely think this can be read as a standalone but you'll get a lot more enjoyment out of it if you start from the beginning with Burned, as not only do you get glimpses of Kevin and Luuk but the characters from previous stories make frequent appearances.
Kevin (KC) has been living an unfulfilled life since the day his mother walked out on him and his brothers. The pain, self-hatred and darkness he has felt most of his life is slowly eating away his soul and some days he feels like it will devour his heart leaving him an empty shell. Not only does he feel responsible for his mother leaving but he is gay in a town where some are close minded and bigoted. His own father was cruel...stomping on his love of art and photography growing up. Kevin, stuck in a spiral of doubt and fear partly of his own making (understandably), has never told anyone around him that he is interested in men in case it ruins his relationship with his brothers or the reputation of the ranch. His worry that he won't be accepted eats at him and places him in a box and he can't find the key. Until he meets Luuk.
Luuk is Oly's best friend and comes to the ranch to help with the veterinarian practice that Oly works at. Luuk himself is a veterinarian with a Dutch accent that makes him charming and endearing and Kevin recognizes a similar darkness and pain in him. While Luuk is openly gay, the scars he carries still involve fear of loss and acceptance. Human nature is hard wired to seek love and acceptance and both of these men have had what feels like a lifetime of loss so their fears of rejection are understandable. However, their attraction is instantaneous and both are finding it hard to stay away from each other.
The more time KC and Luuk spend together, the more Kevin realizes that in order to hold onto the one thing that is beginning to set him free also means facing his fears. The more Luuk burrows into KC's soul, the more he realizes he may be willing to lay his bleeding heart at his feet in the hopes KC cherishes and protects it. But going back to what's comfortable pulls hard at both of them. Will KC be able to grab hold of his life and go after what he needs...what he wants? Can Luuk let KC in completely and let him see the man he tries to bury? Will the two of them find their truths together and build a life together?
I want to start off by saying that I adored this story with every ounce of my being. I love reading MM and this heartwarming tale of finding love and acceptance was just so real and raw. I don't know how Greta does it but she manages to rip so many emotions from me and sucks me into her stories. Her characters are so authentic and relatable and you can't help but feel like you are right there experiencing every emotion they're feeling. This story was full of heartbreak but it was also full of hope and they were perfectly balanced to create a beautiful story.
I loved KC and Luuk's journey. KC was the light-hearted and joking personality to Luuk's more serious disposition and they balanced each other. The relationship that was built was passionate, steamy and I could feel the connection they shared even when they didn't want to acknowledge it. Their hard earned ending was everything I wanted for them. I keep thinking to myself that each book Greta writes that THAT one is my favorite but every main character has been so different and their stories so unique that it's hard to pick a favorite. If you like MM romance, then I highly suggest reading this. I can't recommend it enough. While you're at it, just start from the beginning. Seriously.
Now that I have a serious book hangover I think it's safe to say that I cannot wait for the next one!!!
The first time Greta Rose West asked me to read a story she wrote, she was nervous. Because it was her first ever, and she needed to know if it was any good. That story was Burned, and she blew me away with her quality of writing. Now,with Kevin’s story,Busted, she asked if we could practice her Dutch. Because she’d learnt a little, years ago,and Kevin’s lover is from the Netherlands. Again, she blew me away with what she still knew, and how quickly she picked back up what she’d forgotten. To add to that, she took her time to delve into the dynamics of a gay relationship,to make sure she did right by KC and Luuk. Now that is what i call dedication! And i’m proud to be allowed to “help” her in whatever way i can.
Kevin has had it rough, just like his brothers, after their mother left. But for Kevin it was even tougher, because he’s always been a sensitive soul. Taking photos and drawing, he could spend days exploring those. And that was something their father had no patience,or understanding, for. Finding out he was gay was the worst thing that could’ve happened to him,so it became second nature to hide it behind a big wall of sarcasm and acting like a ladies man, except with Ma,he would do anything to make her smile. Until Luuk. The moment he saw Luuk,he knew he was the one. And that scared him. Because that meant not only accepting he was gay,but showing it to others as well. To his family,to Ma,to Wisper…. And what would everybody think of him then? He’d probably be shunned and rediculed, his family embarrassed….. To add to his struggle, their real mother is back, and what to make of that?
Luuk lost his parents at a very young age, leaving him adrift. Until one of his teachers showed him the way,and he ended up going to university. Meeting Carolina meant having a friend that understood him, that knew him for who he was. It meant he wasn’t alone anymore….. So,when she invited him to Wisper,he didn’t have to think twice about it. Until he met Kevin. Seeing KC made him weak in the knees. Made his heart skip a beat. This was the one,he was sure of it! Finding out KC came with a lot of…..issues, made it very hard to see a future with him, though. But when Ma asked to have a chat, she convinced him Kevin was worth fighting for. If only he didn’t have to worry about breaking his own heart in the process…
These two had a lot of baggage to work through. Kevin, because he felt unworthy of being loved, because of who he was. Trying to push anyone that came too close away, just so he wouldn’t get hurt,or so he wouldn’t hurt anyone. Closing himself off from who he really was,and from a chance at happiness.
Luuk, because he’d been without a family for so long, feeling alone in the world. Needing someone to love, but worrying about ending up brokenhearted and alone, again. And even though Luuk embraced who he was,he still had a vulnerable heart…..
And to top it all,Ma died…. The one person that loved Kevin unconditionally, that was the only person to care about those boys. Their rock, the mother they needed so badly throughout the years, that sheltered and supported them when they needed it most…..died….. And i cried for all of them, but mostly for Kevin…..
The Cade family has become a part of my life, and every time we meet,i enjoy whatever journey they take me on. Even if it makes me cry at times, there is also fun and happiness. And i can’t wait for Finn and Jay’s stories!
Busted by Greta Rose West 5/5 Busted is the third book in the Cade Ranch Series. Greta has done an amazing job bringing new life to classic brooding cowboy romance. These books can easily be read alone, but you do get more information if you read them in order.
It is SO refreshing to read a romance novel that every scene isn’t cliche, PLUS the characters are all different. Kevin is one of the youngest Cade brothers. He has known he’s gay his whole life but has hidden it from his brothers and his small town of Wisper, Wyoming. Kevin’s true desires start to break free when he meets Luuk, an incredibly sexy Dutch vet friend of Oly’s. Luuk came to Wipser to help Oly out at the clinic, he did not expect to meet any other gay men or stay for long.
Kevin is a perfect character. He is sweet, a jerk, and wants a relationship with Luuk more than he can fathom. Kevin is terrified about coming out and being accepted. Luuk, who has always been open with who he is tries to help break Kevin out of his shell, but he is not sure Kevin will ever be openly in a relationship with him. Through many struggles, fights, and palpable sexual tension Kevin and Luuk keep finding each other.
Greta is a fantastic writer, she can easily write both MF, MM, and even more types of couples (I don’t foresee any limitations in her future). Her sex scenes are detailed and really spicy. I would say they are in the set me on fire rage. I LOVE that she takes the time to educate herself about the LGBTQ+ community and find an editor that can help her navigate unfamiliar territory. I will for sure be adding Kevin’s book proudly in the queer section of my own library. I am so attached Kevin and Luuk, they are two of the best and most interesting characters I have read in a while.
I can’t wait to read about the rest of the Cade brothers AND hopefully more Kevin and Luuk in the future :-)
If there’s an author pageant for cowboy romantic suspense queen, hand Greta Rose West the crown NOW!
This is the third Cade brothers book I’ve read in the series and once again, and she’s knocked me outta my boots with her vivid storytelling. I am floored by how she manages to continually top herself, pulling me in from the first paragraph with her irresistibly alluring characters, red-hot chemistry (I swear, there’s an electrical arc between chapters!) and dramatic tension that will keep your eyes glued to the page. I fell in love with this story of middle brother Kevin Cade, an abrasive ranch hand with a tender heart for family, who is still in the closet, wrestling with his identity and the fact that he’s different from his brothers. That is, until he meets Dutch-speaking Nederlander Luuk van der Wouden, the hunky, new-in-town vet who utterly charms the townsfolk of Wisper and happens to be openly gay.
I loved their journey, and I am totally enamored with the high quality of the author’s dynamite writing in bringing it to life. I want to be Greta Rose West when I grow up! I am so glad that Busted was my final read of 2021 as I can’t imagine ending it on a more wholly-satisfying literary note.
I was so excited to read Kevin's story!! This was a heart breaking and warming read. Kevin and Luuk are so amazing together. I loved the dutch language and how Luuk would switch words around. I giggled out loud several times. It broke my heart the way Kevin felt about himself and thought his brothers would think. I love this family so much! This was another amazing story to add to the first two books in this series.
REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Busted by Greta Rose West is the third installment in The Cade Ranch series. This one tells the story of Kevin Cade who is struggling with coming out as gay. He is content to live safely in the closet until Luuk, the new vet arrives in Wisper and turns his world upside down. Luuk van der Wouden is Kevin’s ideal—handsome, charming and distractingly sexy. But Kevin knows he can never be enough for Luuk. Coming out could cost him everything that he holds dear, and he could never ask Luuk to live a life of secrecy. Unwilling to torture himself further, Luuk prepares to leave Wisper, but can Kevin face his demons before he losses the one true love of his life?⠀ ⠀ What can I say about this book other than “Greta, you’ve done it again!” Once again she has managed to weave together a splendid love story that will make you laugh, cry and cheer for these two characters who so deserve the love that exists outside the fear and pressure of an intolerant few. I have read a tremendous amount of MM romance but rarely have I experienced such compelling and endearing characters who remind all of us of what if feels like to find true love. The love scenes are plentiful and masterfully executed, and the sheer passion created by the author is undeniable. I just hope more people get the opportunity to read Ms West’s work and experience these amazing stories by an author worthy of recognition. ⠀
"You're so beautiful, but when you smile at me like that, you leave me breathless."
Oh how my heart felt every word of this emotional and truly beautiful M/M romance story.
From the first page until the very last word, Kevin the sexy, broody, slightly broken, and occasionally rude cowboy, and Luuk the sexy, sweet, caring, and slightly insecure veterinarian from Nederland completely stole my heart and captivated my undivided attention as I devoured their story.
Kevin and Luuk's story took me on an emotional journey about family, self-discovery, insecurities, acceptance, forgiveness, prejudice, and learning to fight for a love that is real, soul-gripping, and life-affirming. I adored both of these gorgeous men and oh how I was rooting for a HEA. They had my heart both aching and warming and me experiencing many emotions. I laughed, I swooned, I felt frustrated, I got angry, I absolutely cried like a baby, and hot damn I may have got a little hot and bothered at times. I loved heading back to Cade Ranch and getting Kevin and Luuk's story while also catching up with all of the characters from previous books. With two brothers still to find a HEA I'm excited to see what's to come. And.... ooohhhh if a future story is what I'm thinking I am beyond excited.
A Highly Recommended Read! Could be read as a standalone but I recommend reading previous books.
I had to absolute pleasure of reading this ARC for an honest review! I loved it as much as the other 2 I have read!!
This book follows the lives of Kevin & Luuk. Kevin is a horse rancher that is hiding who he is. Luuk is vet Dr that is openly gay. Kevin has to figure out if he is worth being free & loved & happy. Luuk has to figure out is it worth all the hurt & pain to love someone that can't be himself. There is SO much more that happens in this book but I can't say or it will just give it away. I don't want to do that!
This was my very first MM read. I went into this book thinking I wouldn't be able to connect to Kevin like I have to his brother's Jack & Dean because I'm not gay. But boy was I wrong! This one didn't put me in my head as much as the others did. Which I'm kinda grateful for because it's been a couple of dark days over here.
I laughed, I cried, I got mad and I WANTED TO KICK KEVIN'S ASS like he was my own brother!! Greta writes so beautifully & well, these characters BECOME your family!!!
Busted is the third book of the Cade Ranch series is an MM cowboy romance but it is more , this is a heartwarming tale of love and acceptance. This is one of the best contemporary romance that I read this year. Her writing, her characters, the sweetness and the ugliness. I loved how every one of her characters showed us their best and their worst and I couldn't help but to cry, to laugh and to swoon with them.
What a story! I spent parts in floods of tears, parts smiling and parts melting to the ground in an unattractive puddle of goo.
It was so good! Can this author write a dud word? No clunky sentences, nothing to take you out of the story. Just binge worthy stories about these men with hearts of gold.
This is a Series of 5 books about the Cade Family Ranch in Wyoming. There are 5 brothers, Jack, Dean, Finn, Kevin and Jay. Each get their own story in the series, “Burned”, “Broken”, “Busted”, “Braved” and “Blinded”.
“ Busted” Book 3 is the only LGBTQ in the series and it is Kevin’s story. All his brothers feature strongly here too.
All the boys grew up on the Ranch with their parents until baby Jay was a toddler when their mother Daisy just up and left them. They all felt betrayed and hated her ever afterwards because it broke their father. He became a tyrant and just wanted them to grow up fast and work with him on the Ranch.
Kevin always felt different from his brothers, he liked art and photography and he was excellent at it, even at a very young age. His father frowned on those ‘Prissy’ way, breaking his crayons and stomping his photographs in the mud.
In his teens Kevin recognised he was gay but was terrified his family would find out. None of his brothers knew. So he overcompensated and tried only to display very masculine behaviours. His only close relationship was with his Ma, an older friend of his grandmother, she was a childless widow who took over the raising of the boys when their Mama Daisy left. Kevin always felt that she left because Kevin was so difficult and different from his brothers.
Kevin hooked up mostly with women in the town but in desperation often went much further afield for male company. His Ma adored Kevin and through intuition knew that he was gay. She was so sad for him but never let him know that she knew.
After the death of his father all the boys did their best and struggled to keep the failing ranch going. Jay, the youngest had studied Business Management at college and had drawn up some plans to generate more Income. He just needed to get Jack, the oldest, to agree to them.
One day at a family gathering Carolina, Dean’s Veterinary girlfriend, arrived with a colleague in tow. He was a temporary replacement for the senior Veterinarian in the town Practice, who was out through illness. When Luuk, a Dutchman, walked into the living room of the Cade Ranch House and was introduced all round, as he gaze settled on Kevin Cade, he became speechless and lost his heart.
Unfortunately for Luuk, Kevin had the same reaction, but would never, ever, admit it, not at the expense of loosing his brothers, and their family home.
However, Kevin is not the only one with hidden issues, Luuk had his own inner demons which he hid behind a facade of coolness. If either of them can face reality and communicate, they might have a chance together.
This is a really good read and there is plenty of steamy scenes. There is also some homophobic behaviour from small town residents.
All 5 books can be read as standalone but I guess it would be better if started at Book 1, (I didn’t) but it was easy to get the background of family relationships in this one.
Ok, this book had me sobbing my heart out, I truly ugly cried. The author broke my heart, ripped it out, then put it back together again and left me with a warm happy feeling.
This is an M/M romance full of emotions, intense feelings and heartwarming scenes. Kevin Cade lives with his brothers on the Cade family ranch, one by one his older brothers have started to find love (as this is book 3 of the series, I love how the previous stories continue throughout each book) Kevin knows he’s gay, but he is yet to tell his brothers, when Kevin explains about his upbringing especially how his father treated him you’ll understand why he is not out, when Kevin and his family experience a deep heartbreaking loss, he starts to lose himself.
Local vet Luuk has always wanted a real relationship, he’s been alone most of his life after losing both his parents, the feelings he has with Kevin feel special but will a relationship work if Kevin is hiding his true self?, can Luuk fall knowing his heart could easily be broken by Kevin?
I LOVED Kevin and Luuk, together they were HOT! The Cade brothers and friends have my heart, and I’m so grateful to have found this authors work. I lost myself in this book, I felt truly connected to the characters, I can’t wait to read the next book!
The third full book in The Cade Ranch, Busted is a story of blame, acceptance, forgiveness and love. Kevin Cade has carried the burden of guilt since he was a child. He blamed himself for what happened with his mother, then never being good enough for his father and now because of the secrets he keep. But when Luuk van der Wouden stirs up all that he hides Kevin will need to face his past and his secrets or lose his one chance at being happy.
This story was all kinds of awesome. It is such an emotional journey. You'll need a tissue box for that one! Again, the characters are amazing! Poor Kevin has so much to deal with. I was happy to see him make peace with himself. Luuk is such a cutie pattootie!
I couldn’t put this book down if my life depended on it. Kevin and Luuk were perfect for each other. Watching them both get past their issues for one another was beautiful. A perfect mix of Romance, Spice, and Story for me.
***** 5 Surprised Stars***** So I’m not a big fan of reading M M romances but I’m so invested in the Cade brother’s I just jumped right in. Kevin and Luuk’s story is written so well that I loved it; their story took me on an emotional journey about family, self-discovery, insecurities, acceptance, forgiveness and learning to fight for a love that is real. Kevin is struggling with who he really is and the hiding it from everyone is making it hard for him. Luuk is trying to find his home because he lost his long time ago and when he come to Wisper to help his best friend Oly everything he thought was under control truly isn’t. Kevin has always felt guilty after his mother left and always felt his the one to blame for his family pain and why his father was so hard on him. But Kevin has always been different from his brothers and father would never let him truly be him. Luuk lost his parents at a young aged but his home was never truly happy but he was loved by them and the accept him just the way he was. Luuk spiraled out of control for a while until teacher showed him the way and he ended up going to university where him and Carolina become best friends. When Luuk and Kevin first meet they both recognize something in each other that makes them weak for each other. I’m leaving so much out, be ready you will need tissue and your heart is going to hurt but it will get better. I can’t wait to read more!!
This is a love story that deserves to be read by everyone. Kevin is a very likable character who you root for from the beginning. He deserves happiness, he deserves love, he deserves Luuk. If only he would realize it… It bears repeating that the details of the books in this series are top notch. I enjoy when I learn about people’s jobs and ways of life in a way that makes me feel like I’m watching it in real life. Greta Rose West is a phenomenal author. The only down side I’ve found to her books is that they end. But even that is ok, because it makes the next book’s release that much more exciting.
Some of the MM romance have a more solid chemistry than the regular MF romance . I felt Kevin and Luuk's chemistry was off charts and the best of all Cade brothers till now. Kevin is a gay man in a closed minded small town .He has grown up amidst so many insecurities and self doubt.he has given up the hope of ever finding love. Enters a sexy Dutch man who is openly gay and attractive. Well sparks fly and after lots of push and pull our leads have their HEA. Next cade please!!!
I binged read this series a few weeks ago and it's become one of my favourite series. Busted was my favourite so far (but they are all brilliant) and I love how complex the characters are. I have no doubt that I'll re-read Kevin & Luuk's book.
Luuk is an immigrant, working as large animal veterinarian in a small town in Wyoming. It’s not where he wants to be. But when his veterinarian friend from college calls in a SOS after her vet partner has a heart attack, he can’t leave her in a lurch. Besides, he’ll get to work with horses—something he’s always wanted to do. He finds himself on Cade Ranch, tending to the medical needs of all the horses and right in the sights of one gorgeous, cruel cowboy named Kevin Cade. He’s everything he wants in a man—minus the jerk parts. Why does he have to be infatuated with the one guy he can’t have?
Kevin Cade leads a life of secrecy, hiding his sexual identity from everyone, including his cowboy brothers. When you grow up with a homophobic father and live in a red state, you tend to keep that kind of stuff to yourself. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t want the new handsome vet, even if he continually has to be a mean to Luuk to keep his secret safe.
When it’s meant to be, it finds a way. Problem is Luuk is out where Kevin is not. Keeping their relationship a secret isn’t conducive longterm. Luuk wants commitment, but Kevin can’t give it to him, not without coming out as a gay cowboy in their conservative town.
This book had me SO angry with Kevin at times. I just wanted to pick Luuk up and put him in my pocket to protect him. But Kevin had his reasons more than most for living his double life, and you can’t help but cry for him as he struggles to find his path.
You will experience it all with this romance. The angst will have you throwing your book, but the dashes of humor help to balance it out. Pillow Princess is my new favorite term thanks to this story. The side characters are going to have you weeping. The suspense will have you flipping the pages. And the spice—oh my gosh! The spice! You just can’t help falling in love with Luuk and Kevin, making their HEA much deserved.
And just like that I have a new fave character... ugh Kevin you are just so stinking cute 😍
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Kevin and Luuk... like seriously I have no words.
Kevin is hiding who he really is. He feels as though his family would be disappointed in him if they found out he was gay. He is this super lovable, scarred, broody, damaged cowboy who hides behind snarky witty comments. He also hides his true self by flirting with females.
Luuk is the hot new Vet who has come to town and has been dazzling everyone with his Dutch accent and proper ways. Kevin is just as effected ...well I guess a lot more effected than everyone else. Luuk is just as damaged as Kevin even though he knows who is he and goes after what he wants... BUTTTTT he also knows that Kevin means something to him and he is determined to not get hurt again.
They basically dance around eachother until finally Kevin opens his eyes and goes after what he wants. Their conversations and banter is absolutely adorable and I just loved them together ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
During this book we get additional information about the cade boys mother and about why she leaves them. I really am glad that Greta included her in the story. Makes me hates her less.... I mean she is still on my 💩 list, but I guess I can understand why she did what she did. We also get to see more of the other brothers and Evvie & Oly.
💯 recommend reading this book especially since it is my fave so far in the series ... but seriously this entire series so far as been great!! Now on to Jay's and Billie's book.
If there was a book character that I wanted to hug so bad, it would be Kevin.
Flirty Kevin has a secret. A secret that he has been keeping from everyone, including his brothers. A secret that may be revealed, thanks to a gorgeous new veterinarian in town.
Luuk's pretty face, sexy accent, and undeniable charm all spell trouble for Kevin, but there is also something so kindred with him that brings them both together.
Would Kevin's trepidation and grief get in the way of his HEA?
No offense to the previous Cades, but Kevin and Luuk's story might be my favorite. Yes, I realize there are two more in the series, but these two have definitely set the bar high.
My favorite is the different, well-developed arcs of each main character and their relationship. I loved going through the journey of facing one's fears and embracing one's true self with KC, and it was great to see how that ties into his connection with Luuk.
The bonus is the fun, steamy scenes between these two. Greta Rose West's attention to details brings their passion to life on these pages.
This book can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend having the full Cade Ranch experience by starting at the very beginning.
Darn, I needed a lot of tissues for this read as the emotional hits just kept coming. I’ll be honest, I have not read a lot of M/M books, two maybe in the past as they are not my forte BUT holy smokes this was worth the read. Kevin has not be true to himself or anyone around him since he was little, he hides his true self with sarcasm and humour and is afraid that if the truth about his desires came out, he would disappoint and ruin their family name. Until Luuk shows up as the new vet who is Oly’s BF from overseas, and Kevin is immediately attracted to him. Luuk has been out since he was a teenager and is not ashamed of who he is, and knows that Kevin is denying himself and hiding, he sees the emotional turmoil Kevin is going through and doesn’t know if he can be the one to break through to him…but he’s willing to try. Holy smokes, the heartache, heartbreak, loss, and emotional roller coaster that puts you through the wringer during this read required a few tissues to get through it. I loved these two, both with dark secrets and vulnerabilities that denies them both happiness and a full relationship…until now. We also get some closure on the woman who abandoned them years ago, an explanation that was a long time coming for the Cade brothers. The story flowed nicely with great characters and I can’t wait for the next one!! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Greta has done it again 🙌🏻💖 I loved Kevin and Luuk’s story from beginning to end. Kev was one Cade brother who I knew had so much depth and heart to him, even if he was grumpy and snippy to everyone he met. All of the Cade men are amazing, but I just had a feeling Kevs story would be extra special. The pain, resentment, and anger he held onto for years due to his mother leaving and his deep fear of never being accepted by the community and family he loved more than anything dimmed his shine and his heart. To watch the bubbly and funny Luuk bring light, love, and shine back into him and his life was so touching and beautiful. The emotions in this story yall!!! 😭💖 They both deserved the world and a safe place where they felt seen, accepted, understood, protected and loved. They found it in each other and in their friends and family. There’s spicy spice 🌶️, the most heartfelt story of acceptance and love, and the best cowboy family ever. I ADORE this series. Each and every book has nearly (who am I kidding- totally has) brought me to tears, has had me gasping from the twists and shocking revelations, and has absolutely warmed my heart. Yes yes yes!!
🤠 MM 🤠 Hurt/Comfort 🤠 Small Town 🤠 Dutch Veterinarian x Snarky Cowboy 🤠 Angst
Oh my Greta Rose West, what are you doing to me? I felt for Kevin in book 1 of the series when he was incapacitated with a broken leg and then he got shot by Evvie's stalker when he tried to save her. I warmed to him and knew that he was trying to hide who he was
So to read his story was fantastic and I wasn't disappointed. You had me laughing in this story but you also had me crying, I was totally sobbing.
Kevin has been hiding the fact he is gay all because he thought that because he was different to his brothers he was the reason his mother left them. So when Luuk arrived he tried even harder to hide his feelings, in fact he was mean to Luuk.
Luuk has his own issues, having lost his parents when he was a child. So they both do a good job of hiding their feelings and fighting their attraction but eventually they both find their way to each other.
I also liked understanding a little of the reasoning behind the boys mother decision to leave them. But was sad when the woman they had known as Ma passed away.
I'm looking forward to reading more of the story of these brothers.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This is the third book in the Cade Ranch series, but it is the only LGBTQ book in this series. I don't normally read them although I have read some. The other ones I've read had both men already "out" so this story was different. Luuk is out and has been his whole life. Kevin is not. He was raised by a father who would never have accepted his gay son and he has four very macho brothers. He is terrified that coming out would ruin his relationships with his brothers and even damage their business. However, he is really attracted to Luuk and has a hard time staying away from him which results in some really mixed signals and rudeness.
Kevin struggled with a lot in this story, and not only his sexuality. One loss brought me to tears. I'm proud of him for the decision he made and for the way his family and friends reacted. After his life-long struggles, he deserves to be happy and to feel genuinely loved as does Luuk. There were some steamy scenes which fit in well with the flow of the story.
Kevin Cade believes he’ll never find love. In the small Wyoming town of Wisper, men like him don’t exist—not out loud—and he fears that revealing his secret will ruin everything for his four brothers and their business. Until the new vet filling in at the clinic whilst the owner recovers from a stroke arrives at Cade Ranch and saves Kevin’s life—in more ways than one. Luuk van der Wouden—confident, charming, and out—is everything Kevin has ever wanted, and his Dutch accent is a temptation unlike Kevin has ever faced. But Kevin can’t give Luuk what he needs without risking everything he and his family have worked for, nor without asking Luuk to hide his true self. As Luuk drifts away, Kevin must face his truths or risk losing Luuk for good.
Busted was an intensely emotional read, centred on themes of learning to love and to be loved wholly. MMCs Kevin and Luuk have electric chemistry, but they also have their own demons to face and overcome before they can truly find each other. Neither their journeys nor their romance was smooth, and both of their POVs were utterly heartbreaking to read at times. Kevin has struggled with intense guilt and fear, which events throughout the novel bring to the forefront of his life, and Luuk, though he shows patience, resilience, and empathy even in the face of prejudice, must also confront his own anxieties. Although this can be a difficult read to tackle emotionally due to the heavy themes featured in the novel, the darker aspects are balanced by great dialogue, sweet moments between the MMCs and supporting characters, and heartfelt and funny banter, especially among the Cade brothers.
This story personally hit me on so many levels. Kevin reminded me of my own son, and his struggles to come to terms with being gay. I already knew I was going to love Luuk after his brief conversations with Oly in book 2, but he had so many more layers than I ever would’ve imagined. These two definitely weren’t prepared for the strong emotions that each evoked from the other, but that’s exactly what they needed to be able to fully embrace a life full of love and happiness (yes, it sounds cheesy, but it’s true). This book will make you laugh, shake your head, swoon, fan yourself, and cry (happy and sad tears). So many of the situations these characters find themselves in just scream with realism until you truly believe you know what these characters are feeling in that moment. Be prepared for all the emotions that come with reading ANY of the books in this series, because that’s what they do to you, or at least me, every time ❤️

Busted by Greta Rose West (The Cade Ranch, bk 3) was such a good book!
I was rooting for Kevin Cade and Luuk (pronounced Leuk) van der Wouden from chapter 1.
Kevin grew up with a homophobic father and blamed himself for his mother's decision to walk out when he was a young boy.
Luuk had a happy childhood with accepting parents but their death in his teenage years led him down a dark path for a while.
There was an immediate attraction between these two but Kevin's shame and fear were huge roadblocks. Luuk tried to keep his heart safe too but in the end, they couldn't stay away from each other. After that, both men had to come to terms with their individual traumas in order to find true happiness in Whisper, Wyoming.
I loved their public declaration of affection near the end. So sweet and passionate.
