Myne shows the High Priest her rewritten bible, hoping to secure his approval, only to cast doubt on who she claims to be. Will the truth convince him, and can she afford to risk losing her only ally in the temple? Find out in the continuation of this biblio-fantasy by book lovers, for book lovers!
This volume has sooo much jampacked into it. I often feel the pace is like a horse trotting gently, but this volume has so many moments I feel as if it was a horse in full gallop! Myne deals with an issue brought up in the previous volume with the High Priest. She also has the success we have all waited for, with the first book being completed. On top of that we deal with a vandal who starts to push Myne to her limit with damaging her property. There are also the issues of not being to stay with her family during the winter timeframe. So much is going on and both Miya Kazuki (writer) and Suzuka (artist) are creating such a great series based on the novels.
I was supposed to slowly savor it, but I gobbled it down today. Oh well, the library wants it back soon.
I liked the scenes when Myne wanted to go on a Bloody Carnaval rampage over the people who messed with the book room, and when Ferdinand told her there were books he wasn't going to give her. And I liked the story from Delia's point of view; I always like seeing how everyone else interprets Myne.
It took her two years, but Myne creates her first book!
I love how this series very slowly builds on itself. Myne introduces stencils, creates a kid's version of the world's Bible, and makes a decimal system scheme to organize books when her beloved book room is ransacked by a snotty noble.
Myne has a chat with the High Priest and sort of explains how she knows all the things that she knows. But it's vague and not much comes of it, so we're back to working on books. This leads to Myne making connections with a woodworking shop, getting Johann to make her some special tools, getting beautiful artwork from Wilma, and finally some help with sewing from Tuuli.
But Myne's days also include some bullying from her blue robed peers and a slight hiccup in her plans for the winter.
