Wanda Dellas is living someone else's life: that's the sense she's had since a mysterious accident robbed her of her long-term memory. Lost and barely scraping by, Wanda cleans offices at night in order to support her young daughter.
Then Wanda sees a news report about a presumed dead businesswoman, Claire Stanbrick. Bad enough that Claire bears an uncanny resemblance to Wanda. But it turns out Claire went missing around the same time as Wanda's accident, too. Plus, she can’t shake the sense that Claire’s husband Jack, who’s serving time in prison for Claire’s murder, is innocent. And she’s beginning to develop feelings for him. But which feelings are real and which are just figments of her fractured memory?
Answers to the past often come at a price.
As Wanda learns more about Claire, she realizes Claire didn’t have the picture-perfect life Wanda imagined . . . a fact someone following her is determined to keep a secret. And the more Wanda discovers, the more she faces new dangers that threaten her life . . . or is it Claire’s?
This debut thriller is one for all who love unreliable narrators and amnesia tropes. The mystery begins right from the start when a pregnant woman is pulled from the rushing waters of the Wisconsin River. From there, the narrative flips from before and after this event. But each is from a different woman’s POV… I’ll leave you with that to ponder.
Thank you @suzyapprovedbooktours and @lisashermwrites for a spot on tour and a gifted book.
When a woman is stitched out of the Wisconsin River and resuscitated they noticed she is pregnant and has a gunshot wound to the fore head. Five years later we meet Wanda Dellas, wife to Carl mom to Astrid drug attic in cleaning woman. Despite“Wanda “feeding five-year-old Astrid potato chips for breakfas and not bathing her properly she feels an immense love for the five-year-old girl. One day while she is cuddling with Astrid she sees a reporter talk about the case of the missing woman Claire Stenbeck and her having gone missing the same time as “Wanda“ since she cleans office buildings to make ends meet she calls her boss and exes if she could clean the building where Claire’s Old office is an she is told she could but first because they lost files she must go and give a urine sample because she knows her urine is dirty she requires the help of her five-year-old daughter Astrid. This is what finally drives her over the edge and she quit doing drugs. To start cleaning the building in the more she snoops the more she believes she is Claire and not Wanda. Not only that she thinks she believes who is to blame for her accident. Is she right or is she putting herself in Astrid in more danger? There was a lot I didn’t like about the story but there was a lot I did like about the story. First of all I didn’t like the abrupt about face in the finale I did love how authentic some of the outlandish things were presented and gave it a real great thriller feel to the book and that is why I gave it four stars it was really good riding the other things Would be spoilers. So what I will say is you should read this if you love a good thriller, you may find yourself loving this book and as I said there are some really great parts that really help with the overall story so I do recommend it. I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
A fractured memory and a lost identity. In Forget Me by Lisa Sherman, Wanda Dellas must come to terms with who she really is, and finding out the truth comes at a cost even she couldn’t imagine.
I love a good mystery. Literally, 90% of my to-be-read pile is in this genre! One of my favorite things is trying to figure out the villain as soon as possible. To me, a great mystery is one you may be able to figure out, but that leaves you questioning yourself until the very end.
Forget Me had potential. It had a good premise, and the characters were likable. It pulled me in quickly, and the fast pace continued throughout the book. But for me, I could not see past glaring plot holes and a bit too much telegraphing for my taste. Here is a tip: if you are going to make DNA a plot device later in the book, don’t make it something that should have and would have been done at the beginning of the book. If two women are working at the same place that go missing on the same day and look almost identical, police would double check DNA before just assuming the person they found is the person her husband says she is.
I also struggled with the “twist” ending. Twists are great. Did I see this one coming 100 miles away? Yes. But my biggest gripe is that you need to make the twist understandable. If you write a red herring into the story, explain why that person is not actually who you thought they were. You cannot just say, “Well, they did a lot of shady stuff, but ignore that because I like this other person as the villain instead because no one would expect it.” Your audience is smart, or they would not have picked up your book.
I hate writing less than positive reviews. I know every single author puts their heart and soul into every word on the page. But I feel it is also essential to share opportunities for improvement with reviews so the author can grow. Sherman has potential as a good author, and I hope by receiving the feedback in all her reviews, her next book will be the best product she can put out there.
For someone who finds reading the equivalent of breathing, when I get into reading slumps it takes away a passion of mine as everything, I try just ends up being blah and boring. When I do feel like this, I find what helps me is reading thrillers and one of my favorite tropes in thrillers is the amnesia storyline. In Forget Me, we meet Wanda Dellas who has washed up on the shore with a gunshot. Someone wanted her dead, but the thing is that she has no clue how she ended up in the water and to be honest, she isn't even sure that she is Wanda Dellas yet all the signs point to her being this person. Now five years later, Wanda is working as a cleaner and is mum to a five-year-old daughter named Astrid when she awoke, she was also pregnant. This surprised her as well as she thought she didn't want children at all. While watching TV with her daughter, her daughter sees a picture on the TV and says "Look Mummy, That's You". Wanda looks and the news is talking about businessman Jack Stanbrick who has been in prison for the past five years for the murder of his wife Claire. Claire disappeared around the same time as Wanda went missing/re-appeared. Are the two connected? Is it a case of mistaken identity? Now Wanda/Claire is determined to uncover the truth about who exactly she is and what happened five years ago if she is Claire then what happened to Wanda and where has Wanda been for the past five years? Find out in this amnesia thriller by Lisa Sherman - Book #1 in the Forget Me Not Series - "Forget Me".
The synopsis for this story is promising. So I was hoping for a good thriller with a case of unknown identity, presumed innocence and maybe redemption. The idea for the story and plot elements are there but the execution is poor.
This book is told in two timelines. Wanda narrates the present and Claire narrates the past. We’re told that these women look exactly alike, so who is who?? The author tries to create mystery/suspense but it just doesn’t click. In the present. Wanda is living with her husband Carl and her daughter Astrid, but has no memory of her past since being shot and found in the river while pregnant. In the past, Claire is a successful businesswoman in a loving marriage with a seemingly perfect life. We later find out that Claire’s husband Jack is in jail for her murder as she is presumed dead. Wanda feels he is innocent and sets out to prove it.
Unfortunately the flow of the story did not work for me. The characters are flat. . Everything is told, not shown so there is no real feeling of knowing the characters, caring about them, or understanding why they made certain choices. The dialogue tries to convey this but doesn’t work. There was no real suspense as the outcome was obvious. It was a quick read and I wanted to know the ending but it could have been written and developed way better.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of their book in exchange for my opinions on this book.

This is an amazing read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Wanda was involved in a mysterious accident that took her memory. She has no idea who she was before the accident. Wanda and her five-year old daughter are struggling to get by. One day, Wanda sees a news story about Claire, a businesswoman who was presumed dead many years ago. Wanda notices that her and Claire look extremely similar. Oddly enough, Claire went missing around the same time that Wanda's accident happened.
Claire's husband, Jack, is serving time in prison for Claire's disappearance. Due to her uncanny resemblance to Claire, Wanda begins looking into her disappearance. Wanda also has a sneaking suspicion that she is not actually "Wanda". It seems there is more the Claire's life than she originally thought. There are numerous secrets that someone wants to keep buried.
I really enjoyed this debut novel by Lisa Sherman! It is a quick and entertaining read. I was unable to put it down!
I enjoyed the alternating POVs - Claire, pre-disappearance and Wanda, current day. I couldn't wait to get back to the previous PIOV to see what was happening. There were a handful of potential suspects - enough where it kept things difficult to guess, but not many where you cannot keep track of the characters. It was fun trying to figure out if Wanda was actually Wanda.
There are lots of twists and turns in this novel. Definitely recommend to any thriller fan!
Thank you Speaking Volumes and NetGalley for the copy!

I loved this story. The chapters swap between Wanda Now and Claire Then and I honestly didn’t know who Wanda was the entire time. The author does an amazing job of making sure that you are unable to guess the answer. I had my suspicions of course but it was still a fun story! I was also kind of surprised by the twist ending though I knew something had to go wrong. Still, overall this was a fun twisty whodunnit and who is she type of story! I think this would make an excellent movie!
This is Lisa’s debut suspense novel and it needs ALL the stars!
The book is told in the past and present as our main character, Wendy, lives a sad existence without any memories of her past after being shot and found floating in a river five years before.
Wendy while watching tv with her 5 year old daughter, Astrid, sees a news article about a man convicted of killing his wife 5 years before. His wife, Claire, looks eerily similar to Wendy and her body has never been found. Wendy thinks maybe she is Claire and begins investigating.
I’m going to leave the summary at that not to give anything away.
There were many elements that really stuck out to me that makes this such a page turning book. I loved the way the plot was told in alternating chapters of Wendy’s present and Claire’s past. I thought the fact that Wendy never suddenly or slowly recovers her memory to help figure out who she was made for a unique facet in the book. I think my favorite part is that through the book I’m always wondering if Wendy is really Claire or if Wendy is just hoping to be someone else.
This was one of those twisty-turny thrillers that had me up WAY too late!! It was SO good!! All about a woman who ends up alive after being found nearly dead in a river, she makes her way trying to unravel the mysteries surrounding her disappearance. Living as Wanda Dellas, things seem off. But when someone mistakes her for a woman she used to work for - Claire Stanbrick - that's things get weird...and she can't let it go. As she searches to rediscover her identity, she gets to the heart of the matter and finds a truth that is ultimately life-changing. Is she Wanda or is she Claire? This book will have you on the edge of your seat!!
Needless to say, I really enjoyed it. It had a lot of twists that I didn’t see coming and I liked the way the author used holes in Wanda’s memory to take the story to another place. Very well done book - can’t wait for book 2!! Can't imagine where she will take it...but, wherever she does, it will be good!
Wanda Dellas is living someone who else's life, ever since an accident stole her long term memories. Working a dead end job and barely making ends meet while taking care of her daughter, she sees a news report about a missing businesswoman named Claire. Claire looks a lot like Wanda, and she went missing around the same time as Wanda's accident. Claire's husband Jack was imprisoned for her murder but Wanda feels he is innocent and develops feelings for him. This book was great and I liked the alternating timelines of past and present. The present was Wanda's life and the past was Claire's life. Overall this was a great quick read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for advanced copy.
Wanda survives an accident and is pulled from a river. After being rescued she has long term memory loss. While she is trying to recover her memories, she is working to make ends meet. Wanda starts searching for answers but along the way she discovers secrets that some people want to be kept secret. Will Wanda ever discover who she is? Or will she die trying? An exhilarating thriller story, with a great plot and amazing characters.

I really enjoyed this book. It was engaging and exciting from start to finish. At the start, I flip flopped between what I actually thought was taking place. And the way it was artful told from the past and present perspectives really was the icing on top.
I won't say the ending was a huge surprise, but I adored the journey to get there. It made me feel as if I was completely immersed into the world, seeing all it had to offer.
The only gripe I had was the fact that we never knew more about Roger. It felt like a little more information could have been shared about him and his involvement or lack thereof.
Engaging story with a good plot. Definitely a fast-paced paged turner. I read this over the course of about 5 hours, in one day.
Did I see some of the twists coming? Yes, but I read a loooot of thrillers and many of them have some level of predictability. Some of the reveals were shocking so that was satisfying. Will I read the next installment of this series? You bet.
Thank you NetGalley and Speaking Volumes for the digital advance reader copy of Forget Me in return for my honest review.
Told in dual timelines by dual narrators, it peels back the layers to resolve who Wanda really is. It is fast paced with twists and turns that will have you guessing. With Wanda not knowing her past, she is a good unreliable narrator, which is one of my favorite tropes in thrillers. It was a quick read as I wanted to find out if my theory was correct. While I was not a fan of the characters, I did want to know what would happen.
This debut thriller will appeal to those that like unknown identities, amnesia and unreliable narrators.
This was a page-turning thriller that had me constantly guessing about what was going on. It contains alternate timelines and point-of-views, and I found myself drawn slightly more to Wanda's chapters just because I wanted to know what the heck was going on and enjoyed discovering things alongside her. The Claire chapters were, of course, important for tying everything together in the end though.
Overall, an enjoyable thriller that kept me on my toes. Apparently this is the first in a series as well, so I look forward to reading more.
This 5-star debut novel will have you hooked before chapter 1 even begins! The further you delve into the life of Wanda and the memories of Claire; you’ll keep begging for more until the very end. With twists around every corner, you’ll think you have all the answers only to find you have no idea what is going on. Sherman knows how to paint a vivid picture and keep you on the edge of your seat. This book is a wild ride for sure!
Forget Me by Lisa Sherman Claire is a successful businesswoman whose life is turned upside down by her murder or was it. The story revolves around a missing, presumed dead woman and her doppelganger. This was a good story but I am not fond of the before and after sequencing of the writing. It worked but I don’t like that back-and-forth technique. It was a good mystery and I recommend it with the above caveat.
This book unfolds bit by bit as a woman with amnesia tries desperately to unravel her past. I love how it's full of suspense. As the story unfolds, you are left guessing who did what. Everything spirals toward the end of the story. I also thought both of the main characters were very interesting while also being quite different from one another.
I received a copy of this book from Books Forward.
This is a great, fast paced mystery! I was immediately hooked on Wanda’s amazing story. She is pulled from a raging River after being shot - and she is pregnant. She can’t remember anything from before the accident but she feels out of place in her life. Once she starts investigating her own accident, lots of crazy things come to light. So crazy most folks write her off as just that. Thankfully she is stubborn and persistent and is able to solve the mystery once and for all.
No matter how good a book is, my antsy nature rarely allows me to sit still to finish a book in one sitting. Pups, chores, etc. always seem to be calling for me but every once in awhile a book comes along that I simply cannot put down. Forget Me falls into that category. WHAT A THRILLER! It grabbed my attention right out of the gate and kept me guessing until the end. If you enjoy thrillers, grab this one ASAP!
Thank you NetGalley and Speaking Volumes for the copy of Forget Me. What a great premise for a book. Sadly, the buildup was really long and not very engaging but the ending was dynamite. I wish the stories of Wanda and Claire’s lives had been more nuanced. If you love great twists you will love this book, but it wasn’t really for me.
I LOVED this psychological thriller! Forget Me had me guessing the whole way. I loved the alternating chapters between Wanda and Claire, the suspense, and let’s not forget the crazy twisty ending! Such an excellent debut — highly recommend! Thank you Suzy Approved Book Tours for my spot on tour and Lisa Sherman for the gifted copy for my review. 4.5 stars (rounded up to 5 stars)
This thriller takes you on a wild fast-paced ride trying to figure out who's who and whodunit. Told from the viewpoints of Claire before and Wanda after, the story keeps you guessing until the end and its satisfying conclusion. The good news? This is Book One and I can't wait for the next one!
I received a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
Omg, what a fantastic ride, I started it late at night and kept me up, it was impossible to stop reading it. Twisty, suspenseful and thrilling. All the stars.

Have you ever woken up with the strange feeling that something isn't quite right, as though your life isn't really "yours"? That's the journey that the protagonist goes on in "Forget Me" and it's full of shocking turns.
Forget Me is a juicy read about a woman trying to piece together her identity after she loses her memories in a mysterious accident. I really enjoyed this and I can't wait to see what Lisa Sherman writes next!
This was a serviceable thriller, although kind of flat and convoluted. It read like a screenplay instead of a book - which meant I could really see what was happening in my head as it played out. Very cinematic. I missed the depth of a book, though.
This book has an okay plot line. It is a bit of a struggle to keep track of whether you are in the past or the present. I don't know for sure how to explain how complicated it is to keep track of what went on and what is going on.
