EXCERP FROM THE 'The purpose of this book is to present a critical summary of what is actually known about the Filipino people before the beginning of Spanish records in 1521 from a consideration of the sources produced before that time. It does not propose to write history or prehistory, but rather to serve as an introduction to the facts which are available to historians who might wish to write it, teachers with need to teach it, and students desiring to learn it.'
William Henry Scott was a historian of the Gran Cordillera Central and Prehispanic Philippines. He personally rejected the description anthropologist as applying to himself.
This is a good introduction on precolonial Philippines. W. H. Scott provided a lot of great resources on dealing with the environment, life, and social structures in early Philippine history. Scott is helpful in disproving the wave migration theory and demolishing the hoax that was the Jose E. Marco historiography. Ample materials are also presented for knowing the natives' relationship with its neighboring countries.
