Montana Mountain Men #6

Belonging to the Mountain Man

Rate this book
Huge, brooding and completely uninterested, Bay Barnett is the perfect guy; only he’s not
looking for his perfect woman.
He walked into my life when everything was falling apart and I needed someone to help me
put myself back together. Only it turns out, this brother isn’t interested in a fixer-upper.
Maybe in a different life I’d have pined for him, but I’ve got bigger problems to deal with
than fate giving us a legacy. One that Bay thinks is a curse.
Running was my only option, so I put Rockhead Point and my messed-up life in my rear-view
mirror. I found a savior, and it wasn’t Bay.
Only now he’s tracked me down, and he’s ready to claim what’s his. But I’m not the same
girl he met anymore. I patched my broken pieces together all on my own and even though I
might want Bay, I no longer need him.
Turns out my crazy, Jealous, possessive mountain man isn’t prepared to take no for an
answer, and he’ll do whatever it takes to belong to me… as much as I belong to him.

Like I said in other reviews for Gemma. Read at your own risk these men are OTT extreme alphas. Don't wanna read that just skip this series and author.

Bay is feeling lonely now since most of his brothers are now wifed up and kids. He does do ONS with random but he's tired of it. (We see a text between him and a ONS but it doesn't happen he drops her). When he meets homeless Missy he's torn because she younger then him and he feels he's robbing her of her life but he's still OTT in wanting to protect her and take care of her and her problems from her creepy uncle but he still rejects her even when his family tells her about the curse. Missy is upset but she doesn't pout she moves on but she also takes with her Cody the single brother because he believes his brother Bay is dumb and going to come for her. They form a great friendship.

When Bay did finally go after his woman it's grovel time and there relationship goes up and down because Missy believes he wants something different from her. But the SPICE these brothers have the most delicious months lol. But jealously rears and Bay does say some stupid stuff that has him groveling foe forgiveness from Missh and Cody. I was glad Missy stood her ground when they were fighting and glad she let him take care of her to. We also deal alittle with the uncle I think he might come back in Cody book I THINK!!

We got a small hint who Cody woman is!! And I can't wait for his Story!!!

Low angst, no ow/om drama, no cheating, Secondary characters, drama, sexy times, virgin gal and manwhore H (before he met h but once he sees her it's all her)

Good, but not my favourite in the series

I like these books because so far, they’ve all followed a formula: boy meets girl, boy instantly falls in love with girl, boy does absolutely everything (even some shady sh!t) to keep girl, they fall in love and live HEA. Oh and they have INSANELY hot sex in the meantime. It’s a predictable story, but that’s why I love the series. It’s fun, over the top and kinda ridiculous, but that’s what I’m looking for when I pick up one of these books.

This book didn’t follow that formula and I didn’t like it! What I LOVE about these books is that the Barnett men will do ANYTHING to keep their women, including stalking, kidnapping, birth control tampering and forceable confinement (yeah… like I said, it’s ridiculous, but I love it). Bay didn’t follow this pattern that I have come to know and love. He met Missy. He recognized her as “his” but then he decided to push her away because he decided it was what was best for her, even though she was all alone with no money. And to top it off, one of his other brothers, Cody, came to her rescue. THREE months passed where she was living with Cody until finally Bay came to get her. The relationship between Bay and Missy didn’t start until half way through the book, which is not typical in this series. Usually by the halfway mark, the Barnett brother and his “mate” are pretty much in love!

Bay does eventually turn into a typical Barnett brother and comes to claim Missy and that’s when I finally started to like him. He turns into an OTT J/P, who is determined to anything he can to make Missy his.

Thanks to this book, I’ve learned I have a new k!nk: swaddling! It was HOT 🥵.

We are almost through all of the Montana Mountain Men aka Barnett Brothers! This book is Bay’s story. He finds a young girl sleeping outside his garage and boom! She’s his. But what happens when he decides he doesn’t want her? This was the first Barnett brother who resisted his fate.
Missy was all alone in the world with no one. No one except one disgusting person who treated her badly and took every penny she had. When she heard the Barnett legacy she actually had hope. She wanted to be loved and have one person in her life that actually cared. When her fated mate rejects her she is hurt but determined to move on with her life. We all know what happens to a Barnett when the caveman crazy kicks in. It took Bay a while to come around but when he decided he was going to make Missy his he went balls to the wall! Full caveman and I loved every second of it. We get a lot of Cody in this book and we find out why at the very end. I’m excited to get his story but sad because he’s the last brother. We will have to say goodbye to this crazy family and I don’t want too. Gemma why oh why can’t you make them real? This is one of my favorite series ever! I love the heroines which isn’t normal for me. I love every single one of the brothers and wow they are expanding fast. Those Barnett men like to breed their women and I can’t even keep up with the family anymore. I think they are at 18 Barnetts but soon to be 20 or 21. I don’t even know anymore.
I love how possessive and jealous they are. Bay was funny with his soul mate boot camp. This series is just everything you could want in a romance book! I can’t recommend this one enough. Read it and if you haven’t started this series yet get to it! Beau and Bonnie are first!

3.5 Possessive Stars!

"I want to tie her to me. I want to take her home and keep her there, I want to put a baby in her belly, then another, then another until I’m shooting blanks and too fucking old to breed her anymore. I’m going to steal her future and I know I shouldn’t, it’s why I was willing to let her go, why I’ve stayed away until now. But apparently, I’m selfish enough to do it, to take her and keep her and own her. Because the moment I convince her to let me touch her she’s going to belong to me and I’ll never fucking let her go.”

See what I mean?

description

Belonging to the Mountain Man had Gemma's signature OTT, possessive, demanding, and steamrolling alpha male and I LOVED IT (if this isn't your thing DO NOT pick this story up). But...i'm pissed because he was an idiot at first and let his woman go.

"She’s mine, my heart, my soul, my woman and I just let her go."

description

Bay has been feeling lonely since his brothers have found wives and had children but he has no desire to date or marry. Until Missy. Missy has had a rough go and currently doesn't have a home or a dime to her name (or does she?). When Bay meets Missy, he knows she is the one but she is significantly younger than him and decides to let her go. In steps the other single brother Cody and the two of them move to a different state and develop a strong friendship.

Missy and Cody are just friends but Bay thinks it's more and it takes awhile for him to get his head out of his ass and go claim his woman but once he does, what ensues is some serious groveling and convincing. I loved Missy. She was smart and had a good head on her shoulders. Bay was so dumb sometimes but I loved the amount of time and effort he put into winning Missy's heart.

“When I get you home, I’m going to keep you in our bed for a month. I’m going to have my dick inside you from the moment we wake up to the moment we go to sleep. I’m going to mold that tight pussy of yours to the shape of my cock and keep you so full of my cum that I’ll have to plug you with my fingers to stop it from dripping out of you. I’m going to fuck your cunt, your mouth, your ass and your tits, and you’re going to scream yourself hoarse when I make you come so hard over and over that you’ll forgive me for being a stupid motherfucker..."

Overall, this hasn't been my favorite of the series but I still adore these brothers and the way they claim their women. This was steamy, a little angsty and an all around good story. I can't wait for Cody!

Bay baby

Ok this one was a little rougher for me. I’m loving all the Bennett brothers and they go total caveman over their women which I hate to say is actually kind of h0t considering most men now are looking to be taken care of (stop me when I lie). So at least every story keeps me on my toes because I know the ending, but getting there has been different and Bay’s story, OMG was hating him just a little and kind of wishing she took the other option.

Still loved the story and the epilogues were amaze duck. I love Missy’s growth and yes the epilogues were my absolute favorite part of this one.

The hero kept pushing her away. He said she was too young (20 year age difference) and he didn't want to ruin her life.

I was also upset that the evil relative who tortured her and stole her money never got punished. Not once did anyone suggest she report him to the police. WHY NOT? The relative attacked her, threatened rape, stole her paycheck repeatedly, yet nothing happens to him.

I much preferred the earlier books in the series.

4.2 stars.
The dirty talk in this book. Fantastic.
The smut was hot.
The relationship on the other hand…
Bay really fucks things up for himself by talking the way he does.
Instead of just taking a minute to freak out in private, or even just inside his head, he decides to let it all out and tell his ‘one and only’ that she’s not what he wants and that she should leave.

So because he’s scared and doesn’t get it together in time, she walks away.
Honestly, I loved that for her.
She didn’t wallow or anything, she just lifted her chin and walked away with dignity, and went and started her life.
Now…I wish she’d have made him grovel a tiny bit more, but 🤷🏻‍♀️ nobody’s perfect so.

The plot was new and different, and I liked that it forced the characters to get to know each other better.
The sex was hot and included some kinks that I’ve come to really enjoy seeing on page.
Like ‘swaddling’, or cock warming, praise, and breeding. Wow, do all of these brothers have a very strong breeding kink.

I really enjoyed it.
I totally saw who Cody’s girl was gonna be, coming from a mile away.
I can’t wait to see how his book goes after he just had to watch the shit show that his brother put himself through…

My least favorite of the series.

Rating: 3 ⭐️
Spice: 4/5 🌶️
Tropes: small town, possessive man

I didn’t like this one as much as the others. The MMC, Bay, was an ass and didn’t have enough redeeming qualities. And I didn’t think there was enough of an emotional connection between Bay and our lovely Missy, the FMC, so the spice was a bit ruined for me. The emotional connection was developed between Missy and Bay’s brother, but not between them. I understand that the series focuses on the love at first sight legacy for the brothers, but that was really all there was between the MMC and FMC for the majority of the book. Also I hate the virgin trope.

OTT JP H/ age gap/

Well originally I had a nice long review posted but of course GR didn’t post it or keep it so now I’m struggling to just write one again so, this won’t be pretty!

The things✨
-OTT JP H… JEALOUSSSSSSS… once he gets his head outta his @$$.
-Insta “Barnett BOOM”, as usual for this series
-“ c0ck swaddling” k*nk… H likes to sleep with his 🍆 inside the h… 😳 not s3xu@lily but just inside, with her laying on his chest and his arms around her, to feel close physically 🤔 ….and I’m not gonna lie… I totally googled this 😂. WHYYY WAS I INTO THIS?! 🤪🤫 I was like “hmm that’s kinda hot” and then every time he did it when they went to sleep or whatever, I grew more into it and after the first few, I was like 😮‍💨 d@mn that’s hot 🥵 and I’m kinda hoping to read more with this in it lol.
-age gap ….H (42) & h (20)
-Bay was the most reluctant Barnett.
-Bay surprised me y’all… I was like ok he’s not gonna be as aggressive or dominate but man when it came to those steamy scenes 🥵 🔥 my LANTA! 😝😝
-Br33d!ng 🤰 👶🏻 🪺
-ALLLLLL the pushing it back in 🌰 🥜 he plugs her up or used his fingers and pushing it back in, holds it in there, rubs it onto her.. i loveeeddd this 👅
-push and pull … he pushed her away, she left, she goes for her, she’s reluctant then he messes up again lol. He didn’t work hard for it sadly though lol. I mean who can resist a barrnet.
-oh man… that moment when our Bay can finally say how he feels and is pleading with his woman… my eyes got teary yall. 🥺😭 I was like GIVE IN, GIVE IN!! Lol 😂
-we see all the Barnett’s we know and love of course.
-I wishhhhhh this was longer. I feel like they needed more time between all the ups and downs to really developed buttt I’m probably just being greedy again lol
-I cannot wait for Cody’s story!
-HEA

I think it’s that mountain air that has something to do with the peculiarities of those people.
And I also think that the author watched the movie Seven brides for seven brothers where seven handsome young men living on the mountains basically kidnapped the women they liked and kept them until they were in love with them.
Actually the premises are very crazy and unlikely and I was at first wondering what I was reading but in the end I must admit I like the whole crazy stuff with all its triggers.
Because be warned. This book has many.
But it was very fun and I’ve read it with a smile on my face all the time.
There’s also a small amount of angst but it is soon solved and not much drama.
The hero is one of seven brothers who have this peculiarity that is a curse or a blessing depending on how you see it, they will know the woman of their life at first sight. And when I say first sight I actually mean it.
It’s the talk of the town, and it’s already happened to many of his seven brothers who apparently mad some really crazy stuff as kidnapping their women, messing with their birth control and similar, basically becoming cavemen where they are involved.
It could be they were some kind of werewolves but they have lost their powers and now the only thing they have left is the mythical bond with their fated mated? It seems something of the kind.
The hero is 42, but don’t worry he doesn’t have grey hair or balding spots or a paunch, he’s over 6 feet tall, well built and has all his teeth and hair, so all women in town try to hit on him hoping he will choose one of them.
He’s also sexy as hell and with a high sex drive.
But he’s quite content as he is and hasn’t any intention to find his fated one.
Anyway when he meets the heroine he feels the instant connection and understands she is the one.
Sadly fate gave him a 20 yo girl who is running from an abusive cousin who not only threatens her virtue but also keeps her as a slave stealing all her money and preventing her from seeing anyone.
The poor thing decided to leave home because her creepy cousin tried to rape her- again- and go somewhere else and she eventually sleeps in a RV near the hero’s home.
The hero, despite understanding she’s the one, decides he can’t keep her because she’s too young and needy. He thinks it wouldn’t be fair to force her to stay married with a man who could be her father and filling her with babies before she has ever started to live.
This was very cute because the curse turns those men into real cavemen who feel the need to protect, feed, have sex and babies with their women so he really fight his instincts.
When the heroine knows that despite she is the one he doesn’t want her, she leaves and goes to another state.
The hero realizes almost immediately his mistake and tries to follow her but she’s already gone.
Thank god his younger brother followed her and decided to give her a home and a job so the heroine starts being free and independent.
After three months the hero, who thinks she’s actually his brother’s gf, has enough and since he can’t live without her decides to go and get her.
He’s enough of being selfless. She’s his and she will become his.
So starts the whole possession charade and the heroine, who is actually more mature than him despite being half his age, decides to give him a chance, and the rest of the book is about them having sex, him being too jealous and possessive and eventually all is well.
No ow, no om, a lot of sex and caveman behavior who is more fun than sexy. The hero is actually pleasant because he didn’t want to force her to be with a man much older than her. He actually cared for her. The heroine is nice and sensible, she had an abused childhood.
The sex was somehow excessive especially in the beginning when the hero forces the heroine to have multiple coupling on their first night together. And she was a virgin. And he was big. And after the second time she wasn’t very willing. I found the thing disturbing and useless because he didn’t care about her discomfort. Nope.
Maybe it was his werewolf side of the thing but I hoped he really let her alone. I was wincing all the time thinking how uncomfortable it was for the poor girl.
And he didn’t even give her time to recover.
Whatever.
If you are not fastidious about age gap, love at first sight and caveman behavior I think this is a safe and entertaining reading. Try not to find too much sense in what you’re reading though.

Bay bay bae!!!! 😂😂😂 mmm mmm mmm

Lordy be, gemma weird knows how to write some dirty dirty 👀 okur!?

First off, I thought the angst bay felt about being 41 compared to missys 20 was a little overdone 🤷 like.....it bothered him wayyyy too much but I understand that the book needed some anger and drama so ill go with it.

But the swaddling 😳😳😂😂😂😂 numerous times that the taco was stuffed with the fillings during sleepy time ya heard me?! I think I've only read one scene in a aurora rose Reynolds book (can't remember which) and it was like a sentence. If my hubby did that to me, I'd slap him away. Swaddling yall. Swaddling *the more you know star*

And a million dollar inheritance? Thats it?? 😂🤔 with inflation and taxes, thats like....500k 🤷 or Dr evil asking for a million dollars and someone laughing at him 😂😂😂😂😂 but ok ✌

Holy buttered biscuits. So not gonna lie, I really thought this was going to take a very unexpected turn at the beginning. I was so mad at Bay! But it was really nice to go through Missy’s self discovery as she learned how to stand up for herself and as she gathered a wonderful support system around herself. I still kind of wish that Ernie got a good punch in the face or kick to the nads, but perhaps in the next book 😉

If you loved the first 5 books you will love this too. Gemma writes the absolute best possessive alphaholes and keeps you craving more.

I won’t give anything away but I absolutely squealed like someone set a big chocolate cake in front of me when I read the last page. I can’t wait for Cody’s book!!

I absolutely adored Missy. Of all the fmcs in this series so far I think Missy has the darkest past of them all, but still managed to be strong. And there’s Bay, who realized at first sight that she was the one, but still let her go. Did I wish he would have groveled more? Yes, but I still enjoyed it 😌

I loved Cody in this book and CANNOT WAIT to read his book!!

Ummm no.

Look. I love alphaholes. Possessive men. Insane men. Probably way more than an average dark romance reader.

Read the TW - go to her website. I hate that it’s not in the book. Because even her little “blurb” of “warnings” isn’t good enough.

Because.. this.. no..

I thought the way these men talked was definitely weird and cavemen like… and I could look past it..

And I know this book is OTT. But fuck.

Then I got about 55% into the book and I absolutely just can not with the sexual experience with these two.

It’s not okay. It’s not.

Another home run!

Gemma Weir seems to have gotten the message that we need a grovel. Boy did she deliver in this one. She’s really stepped it up with the past two books. I thought the last one was my favorite but I’m pretty sure this one has taken its spot.

I absolutely loved that she made bay work for it. I loved her relationship with Cody and how she wasn’t willing to give that up because it seemed just as important to him.

This one is definitely going on my reread shelf. It’s also one of my best reads for 2023

Not my favorite mountain man book or my favorite brother- love that Gemma is breaking the mold, but perhaps broke it too far- so much of the book was spent with these two being apart and us missing the usual caveman over the top antics. I do like how he grovels, and as usual, the spice is great.

I know these books aren’t for everyone but damn this series is my guilty pleasure. I was in the mood for a OTT possessive alpha and this didn’t disappoint. It’s no secret these books don’t have a lot of depth, the author does a great job of warning readers the MMCs are basically cavemen…the shit that they do wouldn’t fly in real life but I love it. Bay and Missy were good for each other even though it took a bit for them to actually be together. They had a decent amount of time separated with some family drama with one of Bay’s brothers so it made for a interesting drama especially with Missy’s own family drama.

POV: Dual, 1st person.
SERIES or STANDALONE: 6th in series, can be read as a standalone.
TROPES: M/F adult, age gap (h is 20, H is 42), small town romance.
SIZE: 339 (last page) Kindle pages.

PLOT: 📚📚📚📚/5

When you’re going into one of the Montana Mountain Men books, you know what you’re getting into: hardcore cavemen obsessed with their women. If you need more info, check my past review of this series… there are some problematic things and I walk through with blinders on because, c’mon, we’re all adults and we know this is fiction.

This may be my favorite of the series! I liked the set up of Bay resisting the pull of his “The One”, and Missy being set on finding independence. FINALLY, a girl who leaves town and gives a Barnett hell.

And Cody?? I am so excited for his book now.

CW - this entire series is filled with over the top alpha assholes who do problematic things for their “The One”. Through the series this includes light stalking, kidnapping, tampering with birth control, not taking no for an answer, dubcon, etc. Read with caution. Do I recommend these? … I don’t know. But do I find them up-put-down-able? Yes.

I liked this one but it was a wild ride. I know this author essentially signed herself up to write, at least, 7 books about psychotically possessive cavemen but then had to figure out how to write all 7 books and have them be different but not lose the magic. That is a task I do not envy.

She’s had some stumbles along the way. Based on her author note, I can only imagine the vitriol this sort of book draws. Props to her for soldiering on for the fans. Overall, she’s done an amazing job with this series. I’ve liked some books more than others but even the ones that were misses for me have been great. There are few authors or book series that can prompt me to drop what I’m reading to pick up one of her books instead.

I really enjoyed this addition to the series. In the first half of the book, I struggled with some frustration. It’s clear Gemma Weir is trying to make sure each of these books is strong on its own and not the exact same story each time. I was torn because I do love stories were H fucks up royally and then epically grovels. Those are hard to come by because it’s really fucking hard to write a decent, satisfying grovel. 95% of the time H fucks up and the h forgives him with the first hint of remorse or worse some supposedly grand gesture. Those are the worst.

However, rejection from H is at odds with the heart of this series. I’m not saying this is a bad book or a bad grovel Gemma did a solidly, decent job of writing a Barnett style grovel but having Bay reject h in the first place is a hard pill to swallow. Given the nature of this series it’s hard to imagine H rejecting h for literally half the book.

H did have to work to get her back. He was still fucking up left and right even after he stormed back into her life to claim her. It felt like his OTT caveman act was dialed up to a 12 the whole time he was trying to get back into her graces. It almost balanced out his initial stupidity.

I do recommend this. Especially if you enjoy a grovel. I’d give him a 7/10 on the grovel scale.

Virgin h, Manwhore H, no condoms, breeding, cock warming (swaddling), no cheating, OM drama, 3 month separation, no cliffhanger

Safety - it’s pretty safe. We see a text convo with him & OW before he meets h. OM is brother Cody. Nothing inappropriate happens. They are legit great friends. H is jealous as hell about it though.

I swear this series just keeps getting better the more brothers fall. Missy is probably my favorite, together with Juniper . She is really young compared to Bay but she has secret strength in her, she's not aware of it. Bay is fighting hard to let her go so she can explore life. But once she leaves, he realized that without her everything means nothing. He had a fight at his hands but he's determined to make her see that what made him push her were his own fears.

They had to come to terms with both their feelings in order to see that all that matters is the HEA that is possible only in each other's arms.

And after reading the last sentence in this book... BRING IT ON!

I read this book the way the writer suggested in the *warning* before the story:

"Maybe if you read this book with the pinch of romantic salt it was intended to come with, you might like it too."

I left my feminist at the door, read this wild story and enjoyed it.
