As a bridesmaid-for-hire, Anna Dyer lives and breathes weddings.
She’s not only the wedding planner, but she’s also the bride’s BFF, her confidante, and sometimes even her therapist.
Yet all of Anna’s experience is useless when she’s forced to work with the dreamy grump Rowan Caldwell.
Sure, Rowan might be a scrumptious hunk of manliness. But this handsome grump loathes weddings.
Even worse? Rowan concocts a crazy scheme for them to be each other’s plus-ones for wedding season. He says it’ll make things more convenient. (How romantic!)
Anna isn’t worried, though. She can play Rowan’s fake girlfriend without catching feelings.
A coffee addict and cat lover, USA Today bestselling author Iris Morland writes sparkling, swoon-worthy romances, including the Flower Shop Sisters and the Love Everlasting series.

4 star Review of Always A Bridesmaid, Never A Plus-One by Iris Moreland Iris Moreland is a relatively new author to me but after reading Always A Bridesmaid, Never A Plus-One I will be looking at her other books as soon as time permits. I was intrigued when I read the blurb for his book and couldn’t wait to read. Anna Dyer is not just the wedding planner, she is the bride’s best friend and yet when she meets Rowan Caldwell, common sense goes out the window. Now she will be forced to work with Rowan (it’s his property which is the wedding venue) in planning the wedding Rowan is a bit of a grump and even worse hates weddings. So when he suggests they be one another plus ones for the wedding season she thinks he is crazy. However, if she is honest with herself she finds him attractive, what’s the worst that can happen if they team up? This was an entertaining, at times funny read with characters that are easy to relate to. There was also some angst, dramas and miss-communication as well as heat and passion.
Estou bem emburrada. De braços cruzados e bico. A Iris Morland é boa!!!!!! Mas algo nessa história ficou no vazio. Não sei explicar além disso.
What would you do if you discovered that your bestie’s ex was the only one to get your motor revving in forever? The chemistry in this book sizzles from every page. It’s hate. It’s love. It’s tons of unrequited longing. Anna and Rowan are fabulous together; navigating all the intricacies of hard feelings and old relationship baggage. The bestie wasn’t always my favorite character, but I loved everybody else. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Anna is not only a wedding planner, but she can also be hired as the perfect bridesmaid, so you already know she lives for weddings. Rowan is a growly bear who hates weddings, and yet, his property is a popular wedding venue so you can only imagine how grouchy he gets. Anna & Rowan come face to face at a wedding of course, and there's definitely chemistry between them, however, once he tells her his name, she knows nothing will ever come of it. See, he's her bestie's ex, and said bestie is still not over it years later. Rowan comes up with a plan of her being his plus-one for wedding season, and she agrees, I mean what could possibly go wrong?! Here's my deal, having anything with a friend's ex is just no bueno, and I struggled with that. And that's all I'll say about it because I don't want to give anything away & anything else I say may do just that. Just experience it for yourselves because it is an entertaining read at the end of the day so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Anna is a wedding planner as well as a bridesmaid for hire. It’s during one of the weddings that she’s planned that she comes across a sexy stranger that has her thinking dirty thoughts. Too bad he’s off limits since he’s her best friend’s ex!
What I liked: The wedding “mishaps” were often funny, especially Grandma Ruth! Anna was a boss! She had no problem taking control and for the most part, I felt she was genuine. The chemistry between Anna and Rowan was so flipping HOT!!!
What I didn’t like: Anna’s bff/Rowan’s ex, Melanie. She was petty and manipulative. Rowan’s reaction after Anna pointed out their lack of caution after their first time together. I know he doesn’t always explain himself well but that time he definitely could have handled it better.

This is a stand-alone story, and it was really a wonderful romance and enjoyed every moment of it. But it's one you want to leave lots of time for because you will not be able to put it down.
This is primarily a story about three people. Anna is our heroine who is a wedding planner and also a bridesmaid for hire. Essentially, she helps plan weddings but also participates to make sure weddings go off without a hitch.
Anna has a best friend; Melanie and they are very close to each other. They have been besties for a very long time and in college Melanie fell in love with this guy she thought was her one, Rowan. But then he dumped her after one year together and this was five years ago. Now Melanie is very single and has many flings.
Rowan meanwhile has two friends who are getting married, and they want to have the wedding at his Orange Farm, but it's never had a wedding before, so they need lots of help and his friends hire Anna to work with him on turning the farm into this wedding venue.
After meeting to discuss the wedding Rowan starts to notice that he is seeing Anna at all the same weddings he attends. And that's when he comes up with a plan for them to be each other's plus one.
While that sounds awesome, what do you think Melanie thinks of this plan? Can these two keep it platonic? Or as they get to know each other will an attraction develop?
This is very much a forbidden romance. But also, Rowan shall we say has issues. This was a really fun and sweet romance. I really loved watching these two fall for each other.
They’ve been burned before, will they burn out in fear or burn bright and persevere Always A Bridesmaid, Never A Plus One by Iris Morland is an awesome romcom. Fun and entertaining from the start, Anna is a character many can identify with. She is singularly focused on her business and forever reminding herself she’s ok with the single life. But there’s that nagging whisper in her mind that keeps reminding her she actually wants someone to share life with. Past experience says otherwise. Rowan on the other hand doesn’t think he can have someone to share life with. The poor guy has convinced himself he will never be enough for anyone thanks to past girlfriends. Girlfriends are integral to the plot and connect Anna and Rowan in addition to all the weddings happening. Anna’s best friend is also Rowan’s ex-girlfriend of 5 years ago! Talk about a record scratch plot twist! This taboo element on top of the obvious attraction and chemistry made this book unput-down-able! It’s an emotional roller coaster ride as Rowan runs hot and cold while Anna struggles with keeping her promise to her best friend. All this turmoil makes for a steamy, slow build that burns hot with no end in sight. Overall, a little emotional explosion actually sheds some light on the situation (Anna declares her love) for Rowan to finally realize what he knew deep down. Rowan’s grand gesture finally brings this couple together. It’s a HEA of sweet epic proportions and all encompassing. This was the first book I have read from Iris Morland and it will not be my last! Anna and Rowan were perfect. Anna is a wedding planner/bridesmaid for hire. Rowan used to work in big tech but recently bought a farm to grow oranges, and obviously doesn’t get the hype of weddings.
Anna and Rowan meet at a wedding and immediately hit it off until Rowan tells her his name and she realizes that her best friend, Melanie, dated him 5 years ago and still talked about how he was horrible to her. This obviously means that Anna needs to try and distant herself for her best friends sake, however Melanie sucked so I dislike how much sway she somehow had over Anna!
Anna and Rowan keep running into each other at weddings so they decide to be each other’s plus ones for the summer so they don’t have to go to weddings alone. From there their relationship grows and their dreams so clearly intertwine. They were perfect! (Rowan’s friends Alejo and Emily were great friends, unlike Melanie)
Thank you @wildfiremarketingsolutions and @iris_morland ! Release Date: October 11, 2022 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🔥 Scene: toys make everything better
3.5-4🌟 stars This was a fairly quick read and I did like Rowan, the male lead who'd given up a lucrative tech job to farm an orange grove in Orange County. I thought he was fairly regularly misunderstood, even by himself! I also liked Rowan's father; he's only a bit player but a good, solid one with great advice. Least favorite character, in a class of her own, was Rowan's long-ago ex girlfriend and female lead Anna's best friend Melanie.
I felt I would have enjoyed the story more without the, frankly, crudeness of the steamy bits. So I just skipped over those scenes, after the initial few shock-provoking paragraphs.
Some of the wedding scenes were darkly humorous, and this couple is surrounded by weddings like Hugh Grant's Charles in Four Weddings and a Funeral. The antics and mishaps brought that movie to mind though, thankfully, no members of the wedding parties or guests ended up dying (unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the animals recruited for one set of nuptials!)
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book provided by Booksprout; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
Anna Dyer loves wedding since a wedding planner and bridesmaid for hire. She makes everyone's wedding special except her love life isn't so happily ever after yet. She was attending a wedding and meets a perfect stranger (at first) who she is attracted to except she finds he can't be hers. Rowan is knowns as forever bachelor. He doesn't believe wedding will last and he is very cynical regarding wedding. He left his IT job to become orange farmer. He keeps running into Anna and he can't stop his attraction to her. So he suggests she should be his plus one since they end up going to many weddings. Anna's best friend had one rule and that is not to date Rowan Caldwell. He left her devastated (5 years ago.) and she is still bitter about their break up. She understood her best friend but every time she runs into him, her head knows he is off limits but her heart won't agree. Maybe this will be over before her best friend finds out.. Anna and Rowan are great together except they want different future plus her best friend. They were being simple plus one to one another but more time they spend together, things change and it makes harder for both to choose which ways to go. It was great and wedding scenes are hilarious. Anna and Rowan constantly argue and chemistry was off the chart. It was fun and easy read.

This was an okay read. It was definitely a romantic comedy, there was a lot of laughing out loud and snickering at moments going on and definitely some great romance and steamy scenes, which I always love to read in books. I also loved the Dirty Dancing quote sneaked in there, 'nobody puts Baby in a corner.' Now I want to watch that movie again. The things I disliked were the ways some of the main characters reacted to things. You don't start a relationship with your best friend's ex for one, big mistake, especially when she was heartbroken over their break-up. No-go material right there. But.. I must say Melanie (best friend) was making suuuuuch a drama out of it all. I didn't like her whole character right up until the end. I did like the hero so that counts for something right? I did enjoy the read, but won't go back for a reread anytime soon.
4.5 Stars for Always a Bridesmaid, Never a Plus-One. I haven’t read very much by Iris Morland but every book I pick up I find her writing strong, her characters easy to bond with and her stories entertaining and I honestly need to read more by this talented author. This is wedding planner Annie Dyer and Rowan Caldwell’s entertaining story. When Annie gets to plan her best friends wedding she is forced to work with grumpy Rowan the man who sends her crazy because the wedding is going to be on his property. Even more surprising is when he suggests they become each other’s plus one…what follows is an entertaining and witty read. This is one of those books you want to read again and again, it has the perfect mix of love, humour and drama, it has characters you bond with and it’s a captivating story that will draw you in.

Anna is a wedding planner and a bridesmaid-for-hire. One of of these weddings where she is a bridesmaid, she needs a bit of fresh air, and that’s where she meets Rowan. Things get a bit steamy until she learns his name. He’s the ex of her best friend, which means, he is off limits. She tries to fight against it, but both have a lot of weddings they have to attend. This makes it impossible to avoid each other, and one thing leads to another…
I love a good romance novel where the hero has some conflicts about his own feelings. Doesn’t know how to act, are those feelings for real, is she that special one…? This book has it all. It was a fun and easy read, a real recommendation, really hard to put it down. The way they both try and fail to fight these feelings, made me sometimes emotional, angry (because of the ex) and sometimes laughing out loud.
I own nearly all of Iris Morland's books as well as a few audiobooks. I've enjoyed her stories since she started her second series. Those early series are my favorites.
This story started off steamy and continued throughout. Definitely a steamy read. It had a few laughing out loud moments, but I didn't laugh throughout. I loved Rowan's place in the country. Would have loved even more scenes out there. I honestly didn't like Anna's best friend. I tried. I really tried to remember that we are all different, but I just couldn't. I was loving Rowan until a certain point, then I had mixed feelings about him. I can't explain without giving too much of the story. So this isn't my favorite from this author, but it was a good read.

Do you know those books that, once you start, you just cannot put down? Even when the world is burning around you? In my case the world was my house and luckily it wasn’t on fire but the kids were tearing it down and I just didn’t care. That’s how good this book was. I was a goner once I started reading. Anna is such a great character and the chemistry she and Rowan have is flying off the pages. Also this books is HOT! I love it when the characters don’t hide there attraction towards eachother and Anna and Rowan are so acting upon it. What I also really appreciate is that they are mature. Ofcourse feelings cloud judgements etc but the characters handle it like adults and I love that. I think this book belongs on every romance addicts TBR, trust me, you will not regret it!.

Anna is an event planner who finds herself trying to ensure that a wedding goes smoothly but it is turning into quite the task. While there she meets Rowan under less-than-ideal circumstances and realizes that he is her best friend’s ex and never intends to see him again until she finds out he owns the venue where she is planning an upcoming wedding.
Rowan is single and determined to stay that way however he proposes an arrangement to Anna. If she agrees to be his companion to the upcoming weddings, he is required to attend then he will help her with her career, what could possibly go wrong?
The interactions and the situations that Anna and Rowan find themselves in are both humorous and hot which combined with a little drama make this a fun story.
Anna Dyer is a wedding planner and also is a bridesmaid or Maid of Honor if requested for a wedding. She meets Rowan Caldwell at a wedding and when she finds out who he is, she walks away from him. He used to date her best friend Melanie and she requested that Anna have nothing to do with him, that he had broken her heart. That was five years ago. When they get thrown together for a wedding, they will have to get along as the venue is on his farm. When they start to fall for each other, she lies to her friend for the first time and hates that but so also doesn’t want to give up Rowan. A nice story line but I have to say there is a lot of detailed sex in this book.

Anna and Rowan have that chemistry spark first before recognition hits them. Anna tries to stick to girl code and not get into any sort of entanglement with her best friends ex. Rowan hasn't been able to commit to a girl with his full heart and commitment so he tries to fight the sudden need to be all in with Anna. Between their funny and sexy banter of course lines are blurred so what happens when Melanie, Rowan's ex-gf and Anna's best friend finds out the truth?
This was a complicated couple. They had a mutual attraction and their chemistry was hot, but he is her best friend’s ex. The one man she has sworn to never be with. Unfortunately, the heart wants what the heart wants and as hard as they fight it, they brought together time and again. When they agree to be each others’ spouse one to the many weddings they have, their attraction grows. Rowan is a wealthy man, who is sure that he wants Anna. Anna wants Rowan but doesn’t want to hurt her friend. The way they interact is flirty and fun, but deeper at the same time. Just when they start believing things will be fine, one of them runs scared. I really liked this book and would love more about this couple and/or her friend. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.
The movie 27 Dresses came to mind when I read the synopsis and began reading the book, but that was where the similarity ended.
Anna Dyer is a snarky character with a foul mouth. I have read many of Morland's books and enjoyed them - most recently her Hazel Island series - but this book was totally different.
The repeated use of the "F" word and also of the Lord in a derogatory manner turned me off. I have read many books with sex scenes that go beyond the door and are billed as steamy; however, much in this book was crude.
I'm hoping this is not what we can expect from Morland's future books.

If this had been the library, I would have DNFed on page 9, but I bought it (I see why the library doesn't own it now 🙃) and so I felt obligated to see it through to the end. Much skimming was done. The characters are awful. The "obstacle" keeping the two main characters from being together was that the MMC used to date the MC's best friend (why I wanted to DNF on page 9) but they disregard that pretty quickly. Also the friend was a really bad friend and not a great person, so I thought there was going to be a "friend break-up" and the main characters would get together with the excuse that she was toxic, but NOPE. They're still friends at the end. Overall: bad writing, reprehensible characters, ickiness in various forms.
This was a super cute book. It had tons of steam and humor. I finished it in about a day so it's a fairly quick read depending on how fast you read.
Anna and Rowen are a complicated couple. They have the barrier that he is Anna's best friend's ex. She makes a promise not to go after him but they become drawn to each other and it seems Anna can't help the pull. They struggle to be more than a fling or together. Sometimes the statements made by both gave a bit of whiplash, do they want to be together or not? I absolutely loved when Anna finally puts her foot down and puts herself first.
The steam was off the charts! It was so hot 🔥 🥵 definitely a 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 and ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the book overall.
Complicated reasoning Anna, wedding planner, meets Rowen at a wedding and discovers he is the ex of her self absorbed and selfish, angry, unforgiving friend. He is commitment adverse and his friends and relatives seem to be marrying in numbers. There is humour and angst between and around this couple. They are obviously attracted enough to start a relationship but there is a question as to whether they can continue. Some of the events and characters are ok, but others are annoying or unlikable..a juxtaposition of happiness and misery.

Anna is a wedding planner/tenths so she's always going to weddings. She meets a guy in the garden at one wedding and they have an instant attraction to each other. Just as they are about to kiss, she asks his name -it's Rowan- and it's the same Rowan who is her best friend's ex. She immediately puts him in her rearview. Rowan isn't about to give up. He figures out the next wedding that she'll be at and is there also. Even though she doesn't think it's a good idea, she agrees to be Rowan's plus one at the many weddings they'll both be at. Anna does tell her friend that she saw Rowan and her friend gets really dramatic and asks her not to get involved with him. I know there's supposed to be a code not to date a friend's ex but how long does it have to be? Forever? The five years it's been since Rowan and Melanie were dating for five months? I don't see the problem but apparently there is in Anna's mind. Even so, she can't keep away from Rowan. They go through some rough patches and misunderstandings. I like how this was resolved. I received an early copy to read and review from Book sprout and I'm leaving my honest review.
An Anna has her business as a wedding planner and, not as well known, a bridesmaid for hire. She meets Rowan at one of the weddings she is working. She is interested in him, but, realizes that he used to date her best friend. They are thrown together when she is the wedding planner for friends of Rowan’s that want to have their wedding at his farm. They also decide to be each other’s +1 for several weddings that they have coming up that they are both invited to. This book had snark, laughter, tears, etc. I just wanted to keep reading. Great book!
Iris Morland has gone and done it again. She has written a book that will thoroughly entertain you from start to finish. It will have you laughing out loud (the full belly laugh) so much that your husband may start giving you the look! I loved Anna and Rowan. I thought that they were perfect for each other and they had definite chemistry between the two of them. Their story is comical, clever and very entertaining.

Anna is a wedding planner / bridesmaid for hire, bride’s BFF, confidante, and if needed therapist. When Anna is forced to work with Rowan, who is handsome, grumpy, and hates weddings, as well as being her BF ex, he comes up with a scheme where they will be each other’s plus-one for the wedding season. This is a beautifully written story which is hilarious, with witty banter, drama, a tad angst, tension, friendships, miscommunications, and love, which leads to an entertaining and compelling page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
