An emotionally rivoting standalone book set in the Black Light world.
She put her trust in him for a night.
Now they both want forever.
Ava McGee is a nobody, plagued by the voice of her father, driven to self-harm. Scarred and broken, tortured by doubts and a lack of self-worth, she doesn’t think she deserves to be loved.
She doesn’t want to be a burden.
Finnegan McLeod, Montana millionaire, wants to take Ava away from D.C., home to the wide-open spaces of Montana and the ranch he’s spent his life building. The ranch he wants her to share with him for the rest of their lives.
When the voices become too much to handle and the urge to cut is strong, which voice will have the greatest impact?
Absolutely stunning story! Finn and Ava's story began at Roulette and I was so happy when their story continued in Branded. Poor Ava with the voices in her head and devastation of her childhood. The demons she battles and struggles she has had to endure. Finn is a steady giant of a man, with a huge heart to go with his size. He is supportive and calm, which is just what Ava needs. The passion, love, and respect of this couple is an inspiration!
There are books that take us places. There are books that heal us. Ones that speak to us and ones that stay with us.
This one was all of those things.
It curled inside, made its self at home and healed a part of me I tried to forget was broken.
If you're looking for a quick dirty read (we all do at times), this isn't it. This book grabs you by the soul and keeps you enthralled til the very end.
Branded is hot and steamy as anything but it is so much more. Oh, so much more.
The chemistry between Finn & Ava was there from the first page, you cheered them on and felt their pain. Their love story wasn't traditional in many ways but the love and passion they have for each other will stay with me a long time coming.
From the first moment they saw each other in Roulette they both knew they were perfect for each other. Ava looked around the ranch and not once thought of dollar signs or what SHE could gain. She was always focused on Finn and what she could do to better him - even when she doubted she would be any good for him - and he always chose her first. Anything and everything be damned.
Ms. Parker did an amazing job on not only showing how hard it is to be the one with an addiction but loving someone with an addiction. It was truly duel POV right down to the very core.
The amount of detail was breathtaking. I don't mean just the characters, the description of everything was EVERYTHING. The time and care that was put in. I felt like I was there. I was with them, surrounded by the fields, livestock. I swear I could feel the grass in my toes.
I know this is kind of all over the place but its so hard to keep spoiler free. It was a pleasant surprise to see a character from one of the older Blacklight books!
This book has all the makings of a comfy blanket on the coldest day to warm your soul.
Please note that this book deals with the subject matter of self harm and if it offends or triggers you please move on.
The books in this series continue to blow me away. The depth and emotions in this story hit very close to home for me because I have a daughter who use to cut when she was a teenager. We got a short story from Master Finnegan and Ava in the last Black Light Roulette book and instantly I wanted more of these two. Kay Elle Parker has delivered a beautifully written and emotional story. Ava has been abused since her childhood and it continues to haunt her. Finn sees something in her during those 3 hours of play that makes him want more but can he handle all the emotional baggage that is in her past? Add the stress of Ava's problems and the stress of things not adding up on his ranch in Montana and you have to wonder if he's gotten in over his head! The story just sucked me in and would NOT let me go. And without spoiling anything, it was great to see certain characters brought in from another Black Light book that I also loved!! This is one story that will take you through a whole range of emotions as you watch Ava and Finn navigate through all the road block and bumps of their relationship. And their last scene in Black Light.............HOLY SMOKES!! That was intense and had my jaw dropping!!! Now, from that scene, another character comes to light that I am really hoping Ms. Parker will consider writing a story for. When you read that part, you will know exactly who I'm talking about!!! LOL If you can't tell, I flat out loved this book. Go ahead and grab it but have some tissues close by.
My title doesn't even begin to explain the depths of this story. There are many reasons why Ava feels the way she does but she was so lucky to be matched with Master Finnegan by the Roulette wheel. Finn is the perfect match that Ava had no idea she needed. There is so much hurt and harm in Ava's life but Finn is the ideal combination of dominance, control and possession, he protects, he loves, he cares deeply. Lots of feelings with these two, you will shed tears, you will smile and will suffer along with uncontrollable scars that might never heal, but can be dealt with, with the right frame of mind and support from a caring, loving partner who understands and can be depended on to do the right thing. This is hard to write, I don't dare reveal too much but know once you start reading this book, you will not be able to put it down until you know everything and learn how life can go on and be lived in loving harmony. Finn is everything any woman would be lucky to have but he's absolutely perfect for Ava as you will see. Don't forget your tissues!!!
Before I get to my review, I want to advise potential readers of three things. First, this book begins in medias res as it picks up immediately after Ava and Finn spend the evening at Black Light: Roulette War. Second, self-harm is the book's major conflict, which might trigger some. Third, while we don't actually witness it, there are descriptions of child and animal abuse that I, personally, found upsetting.
Millionaire rancher Finn asks Ava to return to Montana with him after one mind-blowing night of BDSM play and sex at the exclusive kink club, Black Light. With nothing to keep her in DC, she agrees (prepare for a lot of insta-love). Though she loves her new life, and she and Finn experience a deep connection that both hope will become permanent, she soon finds that they're not enough to keep her demons away. When she's tempted to cut again, will Finn have the love and patience to stand by her?
I realize that I'm in the minority here, but I'm going to come right out and say that I ultimately didn't like this book; however, my major complaint is one that won't bother most. Certainly, there's a lot to appreciate here. Both Ava and Finn are very likeable and you do root for their HEA. He's devoted to making her happy and keeping her safe; and, unlike many dominants in this genre, actually apologizes when he's wrong. She experiences a lot of character growth, and I enjoyed reading about her increasing self-confidence. I also appreciated that this was consensual, that Ava had a safe word, that the two communicated, and that the erotic scenes were varied and detailed. Finally, Ms. Parker is a decent writer who has (mostly) done her research: her prose is descriptive; the ranch scenes come across as authentic; and she's crafted a storyline with some depth to underpin the kink (which is my preference in this genre).
My problem, however, is with the way Ava's cutting is depicted: since this is a major plot point, it ultimately ruined a book I would have otherwise enjoyed. On the one hand, I appreciated that Finn realized that you can't "dom" mental health issues, sought professional help, and never judged Ava. On the other, his initial strategy -- he makes her promise never to cut herself again or he'll punish her -- is so ill-advised that I couldn't get past that, particularly since he does, indeed, carry through with his threat. Here's where I question Ms. Parker's research since this is pretty much the worse thing you can do. It's only by the magic of fiction that this punitive treatment doesn't exacerbate Ava's anxiety, shame, and guilt. Extracting a promise from her that she cannot keep sets her up for failure (and, indeed, she feels "weak" every time she breaks or almost breaks her vow to him) and punishing her for a coping mechanism that she cannot control is both unfair and counter productive.
While I realize that this is fantasy, if the selling point of your book (other than the erotic scenes) is your supposedly realistic and sensitive depiction of a difficult subject, then I have a problem when it validates harmful treatments (even the kink-friendly therapist approves of Finn's actions). While BDSM can be -- and sometimes is -- used as a coping mechanism for those who cut since it substitutes controlled pain for uncontrolled harm (note that I don't say "cure"), once actual punishment enters the equation then all you're doing is re-victimizing a victim who already feels bad enough.
2 stars. If you feel that you'll like this book, please read the many 5- and 4-star reviews it's already gotten. This isn't the first book in the "Black Light" universe that prescribes punishment as a "cure" for addiction (see, for example, Purged); I devoutly hope it's the last.
ETA: Sigh, no, mental illness isn't a "challenge" that you can "overcome."
2nd ETA: I actually agree with a lot of this review. I also skimmed a lot of the book; at the time I thought it was just me (I'm not really one for ranches), but this reader makes a lot of excellent points regarding the narrative: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
* How did the book make you feel?: I pushed myself to finish. Not my cuppa. 4 stars for good writing. This was actually one of my least favorite couples from the previous book where we originally meet them. Also, this subject matter triggered me somewhat because I can relate (past me—I’m good now) to some of what the h felt about herself. Her inner dialogue made me uncomfortable and brought up feelings of shame. * How do you feel about how the story was told?: It’s dual POV and the main conflict is self-harm. The h suffered child abuse at the hands of her deranged father and so she cuts. The book made a valiant effort at covering this subject in a sensitive, thoughtful way. However there were also some troubling aspects. As other readers have pointed out, Finn uses punishment as a method to dissuade Ava from further self harm, which I found problematic. * What did you think about the main characters?: Finn isn’t arrogant, but he sets out to *fix* Ava because she has no self esteem. This book is instalove and like Ava, I have a hard time seeing what Finn really sees in her—the whole basis for their relationship doesn’t make sense to me. If you didn’t read the previous book, Finn fists(!!!) Ava in the club on the night they first meet each other (BDSM roulette wheel) and he INSTANTLY falls head-over-heels for her because she can take his kind of kink. * Which parts of the book stood out to you?: The figging scene... just wow. * What themes/tropes did you detect in the story?: BDSM, mental illness * What did you think about the ending?: HEA * What is your impression of the author?: excellent writer, the subject matter is just not for me
Triggers: self harm, animal abuse, child abuse, explicit sex

Finn is a Rancher in Montana who works hard and wakes at 4 AM to start his day and complete his myriad of tasks. The remote location makes it hard to sustain a relationship.
Ava had a tough upbringing; an outcast in school, and emotionally repressed by her father. She developed some dangerous habits to cope.
When Finn and Ava meet each other at a Black Light roulette event an amazing connection is built. Finn invites Ava to the ranch to see where their relationship goes. Finn is the only person who understands the habits she has developed, and how to circumvent them through their lifestyle.
The reader is drawn into their current lives, their backstory and the amazing journey their relationship takes. You may laugh and cry and wish you had your own rancher as you take this journey with them. An incredible read!!
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
This is a beautifully written & incredibly emotional erotic romance. Some writers just have the magical ability to not only write a story, but swirl the reader within its pages until they become a part of it. Kay Elle Parker is most DEFINITELY one of these magically gifted writers. This writer crafts a MOVIE within the reader's mind, takes them AWAY from reality, makes the reader unaware they are consuming words on a page. This writer allows the reader to HEAR the sounds described, the rustle of grasses & leaves, the neighs of the horses, the lowing of cattle, the intensity of a lover's tones; FEEL the brush of a breeze, the warmth of a hand, a kiss; SMELL the wonderful scent of dark rich earth, the perfume & cologne of a lover; TASTE a lover's lips & body, the food the characters consume; SEE the emotions that transform a lover's face, their agonies & joy, the love that eclipses all. You think this is overkill on my part? Well, it is not. Is this an erotic romance with sizzling steam? Oh, yes, it is. Intense & sizzling steam. But that is only one part of this tale. The deeper part is the detailing of a strong woman (Ava) tortured & abused her entire life by her heinous criminal family, who is one tap away from shattering into millions of fragments. Through her tenacity, determination & fortitude she hangs on by a thread until Fate lands her in front of a man (Finn) who is intuitive, dominant, caring & supportive & desperately WANTS to help this lovely young woman heal & rediscover herself. Does Finn physically desire her? Yes, he most certainly does. BUT, he is foremost concerned with Ava's physical AND mental health. He knows just how fragile both are at this point in time. And Ava is drawn not only to Finn physically but to his quiet solid presence, control & dominance as well as his inherently protective nature. And with Ava's agreement to come to his MT ranch as his as well as his submissive, they go to the huge but isolated ranch where Ava starts her path to healing. Where Finn's complete but careful dominance & control in the bedroom sends her body & spirit flying, drowning out the nasty abusive voices that clamor in her head, allowing her blessed peace & quiet while deliciously sating her body. And in addition, the ranch itself: the livestock, Finn's employees, the beauty of the country, the peaceful isolation also soothe her healing heart & mind. But, although all these work to heal, there still lies at the foundation, those ugly voices that patiently wait for any crack of insecurity to appear. Ever eager, they pounce. And Finn comes to realization his precious Ava needs more help than he is able with love to provide. But that will require Ava's acknowledgement AND acceptance . . . . For the reader who wants to disappear into a story, become a part of it, does not want to leave; who wants to feel, see, experience along with the characters; who love caring about, being invested in the characters; who thrill at being intrigued by a plot; who enjoy erotic sizzle & sensuality; who appreciate a wonderfully written book they can sink into & forget they're reading words on a page: READ this one. Seriously. Read it. I did & I loved it.
This is an amazing story that deals with a difficult subject with sensitivity. Ava and Finn met at Black Light and had an instant connection. Throughout the story, set mainly in Montana, the love these two have for each other is like a warm hug to the reader. Finn is the most patient of men and although he doesn’t hesitate to punish Ava, he always makes sure he lets her know he still loves her. I learned a lot about cattle ranching in this story and I am surprised how interesting I found it, it was a great backstory for Finn and Ava’s journey. Spenser, Klara, Madeleine (and briefly her two FBI Doms) make appearances in this story and there was one other intriguing scene with Marie and I can’t help but wonder if she is to have her own book. I hope so she sounds intriguing.
I laughed and I cried reading this story and couldn’t put it down it was beautiful and I can’t recommend it enough a fantastic addition to the Black Light series.
I was drawn into this story from the very first. My heart and soul were into reading this story. I was intrigued as to how the dominate was going to help his submissive over come her personal demons. I was truly amazed at how the story played out. My heart and soul were both fulfilled to happiness. It was an awesome read one of my favorites in this series.
Having read Burn in BL’s Roulette Wars, I was excited at the announcement for Black Light Branded by Kay Elle Parker because I really liked both characters. So did I think? It gave me goosebumps. The absolute brilliant handling of such a delicate subject had me sniffling back tears. I just…hmm…there are different schools of thought in terms of the benefits and problems when blending BDSM with any sort mental illness (broadly speaking), but when I see it play out properly on the page, I get tearful. What Ms Parker managed to do by putting it out there and giving us such an intimate viewpoint like Ava’s mixed in with Finn’s response…looks at my arms…yea, goosebumps. Add in the way the two characters played off each other, their chemistry both in and out of bed, and yes I did highlight some text that had me laughing hard. Then there’s the portrayal of such a large ranch and everything associated with it, I’m having a hard time writing this review because all of it has me in awe.
I love the Black Light series. The topics that get tackled – whether through kinks or character development – for so many decades are things that were easily shoved down, dismissed outright, or handled poorly. What these authors are doing by shining a light down on them is commendable and they should be congratulated and celebrated for tackling the hard topics in a meaningful, and sexy, way, and BL Branded is at the top of the list.
Omg! This book is incredible! From the very first paragraph, I was hooked! When we had met Finn and Ava in a Black Light Roulette story, I wanted more. This book far exceeded my expectations! Finn and Ava’s story is more than just two people getting together. It’s a journey of discovery. It’s an emotional ride of which you will never want to get off. Ava has issues from her past that Finn wants to help her battle. But is Ava ready for that? She is a strong, young woman who you can’t help but love. Don’t even get me started on Finn! So alpha! So handsome! So perfect for Ava!
These two will forever be in my heart and soul. Their connection is unlike any other. Let me also say that this author touched on a sensitive subject and handled it with grace and dignity. I’m a lover of the Black Light Series and this book is a perfect addition. Please! Please do yourself a favor and read this book! It’s phenomenal!
I want to be all eloquent and tell people how much this touched me but not sure if I can. Ava is so damaged from her past and then she meets Finn, ahhhhh Finnegan. Just the image I have of him in my head melts my panties, and the cover just cemented this! He just moved to the top of my book boyfriend list! He never thought he'd find what he needed in a woman, and Ava needs some things he never thought he could do. She makes him a well, ummm.....not kinder but a more balanced, more sensitive if you will Dom. Not that he is a pushover, she can attest to that!! This was a wonderful addition and even better then I ever imagined the story between Ava and Finn could be. Makes me want to be like Kay Elle Parker, she brings her character's to life, the women may be damaged but are never weak. Just blew me away.
The description said this was a standalone however from page 1 I felt like I had missed a huge chunk of the story. I missed their first meeting, falling in love, and such. This story was good but throughout it there was this huge hole every time the past was mentioned. I guess I need to see if there was a novella or something that preceded this story. If so I wish there had been a note for the reader.
When I read the synopsis of this book, I was hooked, then realized it started in Black Light Roulette War. So, I had to go back and read the novella in the compilation, to remember the beginning of the story. OMG, I loved Finn in that story, and now the story continues in an entire book. I want Finn to be my Dom. What a wonderful, strong, caring, hot man who is absolutely loving to Ava. Ava needs a strong man to help her see herself, and to silence the horrible voices in her head. This book is wonderfully written, and delves into a very difficult subject of self harm (cutting specifically), and how love. and ultimately therapy, can help someone find love for themselves.
Branded by Kay Elle Parker is the new book in the Black Light series. Honestly, when there’s a hot cowboy on the cover, you know you’re in for a good time. Ava and Finn compliment each other so much. I can just imagine them together on the ranch and it’s great! Ava’s compassion and Finn’s strength are what makes this book work. And the chemistry between them is off the charts smokin’ hot! This book tackles some tough issues surrounding mental health and self harming. However, it’s well portrayed. It’s not exploited or trivialised just for the hell of it to make the story better. Simply put? I. Loved. This. Book.
So wonderfully done! Ava and Finn may have started to recognize their chemistry and connection to each other, but their problems were far from over. I loved the refreshing change of scenery, bringing these Black Light lovers to the beautiful openness of Finn's ranch. And I just loved Finn! A pure alpha, he saw Ava's personal hell for what it was, and he gave her a safe, nurturing environment to help make her a stronger woman, all while teaching her how to give him all of her trust. This book was total aces, with a sexy, hot Dom who gave his lovely sub everything she didn't know she needed.
Sweetly romantic and heart wrenchingly truthful. This book takes on the very serious topic of self mutilation. If this triggers you be careful. The author shows a depth of knowledge and understanding that really brings the issue to light.I would definitely recommend this book. it’s another classic black light success; steamy hot romance with BDSM elements. Trigger warnings for childhood abuse and self mutilation and possible suicide attempts.
I love Kay's books. This one has triggers of cutting so if that's not your thing, don't read it. This book tore my heart away a piece at a time. Loved the connection and chemistry between the characters.
This is a stunningly well written story which filled my heart so full I thought it was going to burst while hurting my soul because of what Ava went through daily. Finn is such a wonderful strong, loving dynamic figure that I fell in love with him from the very start. Ava and Finns story gripped me in Roulette Wars and didn't let go in this book. I didn't want it to end!!!! I wanted more of these 2 amazing characters. This is an emotional read and may be a trigger for some people!
I thought that Ava was so incredibly strong. She dealt with so much horrible crap from her father and from her brain, but she worked so hard to push back against it, and that isn't easy. She also has a kind and loving heart. She wants to take care of everything on the ranch. I really like her so much.
I like Finn too. He's a stand up guy who just wants to make everyone's life better, from Ava to all the cows on his ranch. I love the careful care that he takes with Ava and how he realises that he might need to have some help to handle everything.
I think that Kay Elle Parker did so well with this book. She didn't glamorise anything or make it sound like something to do. Nor did she denigrate anyone who has a problem with self-harm. She shows it as a problem, and that there are things that can help.
I started reading the book and realized that Finn and Ava had connected at a previous Roulette event. I guess I missed the last Roulette book, but I had to go back and read "Burn", where it all started for them. I don't think it's absolutely necessary to read that book first, but if you choose to, it gives you a more complete picture of Finn and Ava's relationship. If you decide to start out with this book, "Branded", there is enough backstory that you should be fine.
I really felt for Ava. I couldn't imagine living day to day with that constant demeaning, abusive voice in my head, and there was only one way she was able to find any relief.
I liked both Ava and Finn. They had an almost instant connection, and it morphed rapidly into so much more. I liked that Finn was so protective and supportive of Ava. I also appreciated that Finn recognized Ava needed more help than he could provide.
I liked that Ava's intelligence was highlighted, as well as her determination and warmth. It was surprising and kind of awesome the way she embraced life on Finn's cattle ranch. Also, the back and forth banter she shared with Finn was sweet. The whole thing with Lulu and the instructions was kind of funny.
There were a couple of interesting subplots. I could understand the one about Thomas and that situation. I wasn't so sure about the whole Marie Antoinette scene. I honestly thought that if it had been left out of the book, it wouldn't have been missed. It wasn't bad. It was kind of intriguing. I just didn't understand what purpose it was supposed to serve in the storyline.
This book dealt with some difficult issues. Mental, emotional, and animal abuse were discussed. The branding made my stomach flip flop. Characters from Black Light East and previous Roulette books made an appearance. Finn and Ava also got their HEA. Overall,A good read that kept me engaged from start to finish.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
After reading this year's Roulette, Finn and Ava were two of my favorite characters that I wanted to have a full story. I got my wish. There was something compelling about both of these characters in the short time they were in that book and in this book, it grew to even more.
There was a depth to Ava and Finn. Not just in them separately or together but also in the actual story around them that made it easier to connect with them. This was not just a story heavy on BDSM and light on context, it actually was well balanced. Being an Idaho girl, with a family ranch between Idaho and Montana, it was nice to see the attention to details in regards to ranch life. Again, not just for the characters, but also in the care and long hours contributed toward the running of a ranch and ensuring that livestock is healthy.
I was especially, happy with how it concluded and how much care was put into trying to curb Ava's addiction. I cannot even begin to truly understand what it must have been like for her to feel that deeply that what she did seemed like the only recourse. However, I am familiar with the demons of the mind in other ways and know that battle is difficult. I loved the patience, care, and understanding that Finn had. He is hands down, one of my favorites so far in this amazing series. The steamy times were hot and well-crafted. If I hadn't been part of this series since the beiginning I would have never known that she also hadn't been a part of it because her writing style and stories fit right in as if they belonged there.
I am not sure how this series gets better and better but it does. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I hope I see more from this author in the future. I like how she introduces scenes from the BDSM lifestyle that aren't as commonly talked about or practiced in romance books.
Even though the 'Black Light' series is not new to me, the author Kay Elle Parker is. Not only that but 'Branded' is a bit different to me as well. Not in a bad way but in a way that every reader hopes to achieve and most authors, I believe, hope to receive from their audience. The chemistry between Ava and Finn during the Valentine Roulette Party was off the chain incredible. Their scenes were memorable enough to still be vivid in my mind all these months later so to have a story that took me to their current reality was fantastic. And yet Kay Elle Parker has pulled back the curtain of the fantasy and I felt like I had actually met the actual people with all the flaws, pain, insecurities, fear, and sometimes short-sightedness. On the flip side of that coin, there was so much love, empathy, compassion, and selflessness. This is a story that touched my heart, at times ripped it out, and then brought me such a sense of peace it left me with a catch in my breath. In my opinion, there is no way to walk this journey with these two and not become completely immersed by not only their lives and actions but by their emotions. Their story will stay with me and be one that stays with me for some time to come, at least. The beauty and pain these two deal with along with their BDSM relationship is just delivered beautifully.
Every book I have ever read by Kay Elle Parker has made me cry like a baby... so imagine my surprise when I get to the 95% mark and I haven't cried yet...and I'm thinking well hell what happened... and then BAM! she has me bawling at the end!
This was an amazing story. I loved learning more about Ava and Finn in this story. I have been dying to learn more about their story ever since reading the short story in Black Light Roulette War. It was amazing to see the relationship develop between them. I loved how caring Finn was with Ava and how firm he was with her when he needed to be for her own good. I absolutely loved how Ava saw Finn as her safe place, her rock to lean on when everything around her was crumbling.
This is one of the best stories I have read all year long and I highly recommend reading it! As with all of Kay's stories have a box of tissues close at hand for that ending! It was a tear jerker and absolutely brilliant!
I love the story of Finn and Ava in Roulette, and was more than excited when i had the opportunity to read the arc for this author. This story deals with a young women (Ava) who thoughtout her life has cut herself to stop all the voices. Now she goes back with Finn to his Ranch, she has nothing back in the city and she likes Finn alot. Finn is a wonderful character who has made alot of money ranching, but to Ava she dosnt see that, she sees a man who likes her a lot, a Dom who will help her when she needs it. He is a sadist, and their love for each other grows, Ava really is a smart person and soon thrives on the ranch. But Finn soon realises that Ava needs more than him she needs someone who will help her deal with Her fathers voice. A heart wrenching story indeed, i really loved Avas character, she with Finns help was a strong women despite those horrible voices, and Finn well mmm mmm i loved the Dom in this man inside and outside of the ranch, he is a fair and also very smart. This once more has to be a favourite of mine, thank you so much for writing such a wonderful story
Loved this book from page 1. Finn is what an epitome of a Dom should be. He proves it by walking away to give Ava a chance to decide if she wants to be with him. She thinks she's "broken, damaged, worthless." It's these thoughts that she can't stop thinking about. Finn is thinking "we began building what comes next." It's a serious subject that the author brings to this story and it's handled with grace. He is the perfect man and even with all her faults, Ava is also perfect for Finn. Don't get me wrong, Finn has faults too, but he has a handle on them. So many wonderful moments in this book, I loved the journey I traveled in this book. Lots of stress, outer pressures and extremities that add to the dynamic of the story. Loved the Black Light near the end with "Marie" and a "box of donuts" and with Madeline, Joseph and Nate. Totally love all the Black Light chapters, you won't be disappointed in this one.
WOW! I first met Finn and Ava at Black LIght Roulette. I am a HUGE Black LIght fan! While you don't need to read the series in order-each book can be read standalone-hving the background is nice. This book picks up where Roulette left off and they decide they want a future together. Ava is a self-harmer, so the book delves into a little of what causes her to go for the burn and they ultimately develop a path forward. This was a great read and I can't wait for the next BL installment!
I was provided an advance copy in exchange for an honest opinion.
Ava and Finn were paired by the roulette wheel in Black Light: Roulette, and Finn wants more. He asks Ava if she will come back to his Montana ranch with him and gives her two weeks to decide. Ava goes to Montana with Finn but she is still haunted by the abuse she received from her father. Will her cutting make things too hard for Finn or can he rescue his little dove?
Another great Black Light book. I love this series.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
