Aliens came to Earth to abduct our women, but it backfired. Now they’re returning them, and I'm in charge of shuttling women back from orbit. Ever since I first laid my eyes on the alien ship’s commander, I’ve had a crush on him. Who can blame me? He’s tall and gorgeous, with skin the color of midnight. He has a voice that can purr or roar and seven long tails that he really knows how to use. I know I can’t have him. I’ve never even spoken to him. But when an incident renders the commander unconscious, I have no choice but to take him to my remote hunting cabin. Instead of cooperating, the commander thinks he’s been abducted. Now, I have a pissed-off alien on the loose in the Canadian wilderness wearing my Snuggie. I need to find him or risk losing my job and starting an interplanetary conflict—among other things. What I don’t know is that finding him will cost me my heart. _______________________ All books in My Holiday Tails series stand alone, loosely connected by the same world and the fact that all heroes have tails. The books in this series can be read in any order. _______________________ Contains graphic scenes of intimacy. Intended for mature readers.

two things i learned from this book: 1 don't be friends with idiots or you will end up abducting an innocent man 2 the man who acts like hates you and tries to escape from you will turns out so pathetically in love with you
you know i love men when they're so pathetic for their lover? well i guess i have a limit. this man went from i don't know you and i don't want to know you to euphoria's iconic "i promise maddy i'll change i'll be better i love you move in with me have my babies" in one page and i was like wtf??? 🤨🤨
some moments like her trial speech was interesting but overall this book was not the vibe
plus for a short book there were so many details?? why spend time with creating world and complex plot just to conclude all of them in one chapter?
i can’t believe i’m saying this but i’m very disappointed by this book. and it really sucks because i enjoyed the first two immensely. this book is very dull in comparison to them.
i thought the whole fiasco with maddy and the accidental kidnapping were too childish to be taken seriously—or maybe it wasn’t mean to be taken that way? i have no idea. i just thought that it was odd that an almost 30-year-old woman would make such horrendous decisions.
as the book progressed, i got over her stupid decisions but then came another issue which i didn’t like—the relationship development between main characters were super rushed. i didn’t feel connected to them as a result of that.
hero was very devoted to heroine, and heroine was just as devoted but the thing is you have to make that believable. other than that, it made their relationship seemed hollow.
Heh. Lori's been crushing on the alien commander for a while, but she's been playing it low and slow and TOTALLY not doing anything about it because of regulations and restrictions plus she's kind of socially awkward. Then she takes a leap and approaches him and every potential thing that could go wrong did and now she's the proud abductor of one alien commander.
Whoops.
As much as Brigan might have admired Lori from afar and as much as he wouldn't have minded spending time with her under other circumstances (like, say, if HE had abducted her), the situation he's found himself in is utterly untenable. He might have had the notion of abducting the quiet pilot for himself, but he absolutely CAN'T be found to be abducted by her. FOR REASONS.
So they simmer and steam and slowly get to know one another as they try to figure out a way out of the mess they're in. Then a very bad thing happens and suddenly keeping quiet about their situation isn't something they can do. Or at least Brigan can't do it. Not when Lori's life is in danger. So he does the one thing that might end their relationship before it really gets going (FOR REASONS!) and HOO-BOY do I like aliens with tails.
A lot of steam, a boatload of cultural issues that need to be figured out, a meddling government agency, and Brigan's tails. *thumbs up* on those tails.
I chose this one next based on the cover as it makes the MMC look a little shadowy. As it turns out, that's probably just a poor concept of photoshop (don't overlay black/dark purple then lower opacity to change the color - change the RGB values) as there's nothing shadow related in the book. Our MMC IS supposed to be grey/dark purple with seven tails, however, and that's still pretty cool.
The FMC was a bit frustrating at times in how incompetently she handles things. I also really wish the author let the FMC be competent about some things she's supposed to be really experienced with instead of having the MMC show up in unfamiliar territory with zero knowledge about Earth wildlife and survive with no problem. Like c'mon, give her a little break. I like that she was awkward, shy, and clearly panicked terribly in a bad situation but it felt really unbalanced.
There are also felt like there were weird holes or jumps in the story. For example, so much emphasis was put on this tribunal and vote that happens later in the book and then ...it's barely mentioned again after that. The outcome is like an afterthought. It's like it wasn't plot relevant as a motivating factor for the characters anymore so why bother? Um, because you made the reader care about it?? I want to know?
The relationship is very instalust/instalove despite them not actually getting it on immediately. They both feel the instalust/instalove but manage to resist temptation for a whole two days!
I really wanted to like this more and I felt like there was more potential here but it was kinda squandered. The tails didn't even play as much of a part as I was hoping! Ah, well.
The heroine of this book was so remarkably stupid that it was hard to enjoy reading about her. She thought kidnapping an alien officer was an appropriate response to potentially being caught in a minor protocol breach? How did she anticipate that working out? And then her feelings are hurt that he doesn’t want to spend time with her while she’s keeping him captive? Huh? Also, her first officer is a menace who doesn’t belong anywhere near a sensitive diplomatic mission, and our heroine has no business covering for her. The aliens were not much better. Their unwillingness to consider that human mating customs differ substantially from their own and do not include abduction, despite the evidence, went way beyond arrogance into idiocy. The world building was also weak and the supposed reason the aliens need women makes no damn sense, evolutionarily. I know that’s asking a lot from an alien smut novella, but when I wasn’t enjoying the rest of it I couldn’t convince myself to overlook those bits to get to the good stuff that wasn’t there.
The blurb about this book hooked me- an Alien running loose in the Canadian wilderness running around in a Snuggie? I MUST READ THIS.
And Aliens kidnapping earth women and then having to return them? There were so many ways the author could have gone with this angle, but what she did was interesting. Lots of unique plot lines to this book like inadvertently kidnapping the Commander from his space ship.
There is insta-love but at least there was an initial attraction to build from. And I am NOT a big fan of sex scenes after tromping around in the forest for a few days. There were no daily baths and absolutely no talk of birth control. Not very hygienic- blech.
Some of it got tedious, like explaining multiple times that human women don't wait around to be kidnapped, etc. We heard that several times since they had to explain it to the aliens. I get it- but still repetitious from a readers standpoint.
The Commander was hot and cold- not very consistent in his attraction and affections for h. A little whiplashy until he was all in. I loved his reaction to the mosquitos and that the h was a pilot. Good to have a strong female lead even if I can't remember her name! I think he called her "female" more than "Lori".
Question- did the 2nd in Command get his bride too after all his troubles of being a bargaining chip?
This book was a fun play on alien abduction, with the FMC ending up abducting the MMC. I had a hard time investing in the love story because the MCs felt flat to me. Also, I had a hard time with the rapid flip from enemies (for MMC at least) to undying devotion. It was interesting that the author chose to have bridal abduction be a tradition.
Each one of these Holiday Tales/tails has been nothing short of fabulous! I absolutely loved Lori and Brigan these two characters had me wrapped up in their story from the first chapter. I laughed out loud multiple times. The banter between the characters was witty, sexy and fun! They world building is wonderful and the chemistry between the characters tangible. Lori is turning 30 and its the anniversary of her grandfather 's death. He left her a cabin in a remote area of Canada and she just wants to go there and re!ax. But she's on a mission to return Earth woman who were abducted by Ivodians for marriage.on her mission she's sees the Ivodian commander Nex and is immediately attracted to him. Her friends decides a way for her to meet him and that's when a comedy of misadventures begins. Brigan Nex is commander of the Ivodian warship conqueror. He must return the human women stolen , because of extenuating circumstances. On one of the last shuttle trips a beautiful human woman and to speak with him he knows the minute he he sees her that she belongs with him. Before he can stronger away he knocked unconscious and the adventure begins. This story is the best combination of a comedy of errors, hilarious banter and super hot chemistry! I loved every second of this book and highly recommend it to anyone who like humor, passion and a fun story 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖. Oh and have I said how much I love aliens who have tails! 🔥🔥🔥it is a must have feature!💖😘😘😘😘 I honestly can't wait for another book in this series to drop I don't care what holiday is celebrated! I don't care if you have to make the holidays up please keep these great books coming!!!
Lori is a pilot responsible for shuttling Earth women back home. Alien Ivodians had abducted them for brides, unlike other aliens who made agreements with Earth and let women sign up if interested. Anyway, the abduction idea didn’t work out and they are returning the women. Maddy, Lori’s First Officer, pointed out Commander Nex, a tall Ivodian overseeing the transfer, chuckling at Lori as her blush appeared again. She had never met him, never talked to him, and didn’t know his first name. So Maddy encouraged her to switch places with her on the next pick-up, and invite the Commander to her cabin for her birthday. Because if she did not ask him now, she would never see him again.
While Lori was talking to the Commander, Maddy burst in on his ship to tell Lori that their boss called for her… and she was by contract not permitted to leave the shuttle. The Commander realized they switched places and was going to keep Lori on board for an undetermined amount of time. Maddy panicked and shot him with her taser, then shot two tranquilizer darts into him as well! He finally collapsed. Maddy convinces Lori she needs to take him to her hunting cabin now. Being abducted might even be an honor to an Ivodian maybe? They shove him into a closed container and put him in the cargo hold. But landing on Earth, he awakens and escapes into the Canadian wilderness! If she can’t find him and take him to town to get back to his ship, she can lose her job or start an interplanetary war! Will she be able to track him down and return him to where he belonged?
What a great adventure. We have Lori , shy around people , men in particular. Brigan "Commander of the Conqueror". Alpha to the max. (In his culture the men abduct their mates.) She has a crush but unable to do anything about it. Her co-pilot and friend mixes things up in a very interesting way. Lori and Brigan end up at her Canadian cabin with no one around for miles. Looks like the table have been turned. I can relate to hating mosquitoes. Loved the part about the snuggie. So cute. From there it gets very interesting. Well written, action around every corner. Just the right amount of steamy romance. Loved the twists. HEA was phenomenal. Another story I will be reading again and again. Loved the bonus epilogue. I would recommend any and all of Ms. Simcoe's books I was given this book through bookfunnel with no obligation to write my honest review.
First she accidentally abducts him, which jeopardizes his social standing, then he has to abduct her and in order to make things right, they both almost have to sacrifice it all. I really really enjoyed Lori and Brigan’s story; I loved the descriptions of Northern Ontario (especially the mosquitoes - too true!), the way that they talked and listened to each other, forming the basis of their relationship. Aside for the Sci-Fi aspects of the story, this book felt very realistic and relatable. A fun and relaxing read (with a few steamy scenes with extra tails thrown in for spice!).
Lori is too shy to introduce herself to her crush from afar but circumstances throw him into her path and into the woods around her remote cabin. Brigan finds himself unexpectedly on earth and must find his way back to his ship ASAP or risk everything. Their story is sweet and they each have to learn about the others culture to find their way to each other and to their forever. I loved this story. Lori and Brigan are made for each other. I enjoyed the outdoor scenes of camping and survival and his great hatred of the mighty mosquito. This series is so fun and I can’t wait for more!

This was such a fun read by a new-to-me author :) Kidnapping on all fronts, fabulous chemistry, risks and fighting off the demons of Northern Ontario, otherwise known as mosquitoes. Lol! I giggled, sighed, fanned myself and fretted by turns in this engaging read. The characters felt so real, as did their listening to each other to find solutions. It was a one-sit reading experience for me and I can't wait to check out the other books in the series. Good fun!
this will make you laugh, make you shake your head at them, and root for them at the same time. I have to say that spiraled out of control and yet everything worked out in the end and I love it! Their connection, their awkwardness, their determination to be together. All in all an interesting read.
Romance genre: alien Series: My Holiday Tails Length: 200 pages
Plot: Lori is a human pilot working to help transport the returned human/alien brides. Apparently, it's against the law for the aliens to kidnap Earth brides like they do brides at him, and a lot of those women really didn't like being kidnapped! So the aliens are dropping them back off, and Lori has a huge crush on the alien commander. She's very shy though and through a series of ridiculous events, her friend convinces her to ask him to spend her birthday weekend with him at her cabin in the Canadian wilderness, and in the process stuns and kidnaps him. He is not thrilled when he wakes up and Lori is sure that it's because he doesn't like her. In fact, he likes her very much, but earth traditions and alien traditions might not mesh well. How will they carve out a place for themselves?
Commentary: This was a sweet story. I'll admit that I was a little teary-eyed listening to some of Lori's inner monologue. Poor girl - she needed the pampering and attention that the alien guys give to their chosen women. She was beaten down - by life, I guess? Brigan was good for her, once he decided to go all in. I loved the way he was content to live to make sure she was happy. What a fantasy!
This series is one of my go-to's when I need a smile or a laugh between heavier books. Each book features a new couple & their HEA.
This book didn't make me laugh as much as the other books in the series (hence 4 stars). But it was still fun, had a great story and allowed me to escape.
A quick read, even though it's 200+ pages, they flew by. Due to some sailor language, spicy love scenes, & hilarious shenanigans- I suggest for adults only. It never went to deep dark places & always had consent.
Description: The Alien commander of a warship must give back the Earth brides, that his crew abducted, in order to save the life of his 2nd in command.
Only, he's accidentally abducted by a female pilot and her friend. They shot first and asked questions afterward. Fearing they'd be in trouble if found out, the pilot decides to take him home with her and beg his forgiveness when he wakes up.
Upon waking, the commander is not happy or willing to listen. He'd never live this down if his crew found out and needs to get as far from her as he can to keep that from happening. So he tries to escape by fleeing into the woods at her cabin.
The pilot goes after him, assuming he can't survive in the woods alone. It's a funny and amusing adventure- involving heated scenes with all 7 of his tails.
Read through KU. Happy reading fellow romance enthusiasts!
Just when she finally worked up her courage, everything went sideways. I was not expecting the twists and turns that became this story, but it didn’t keep me from laughing and enjoying every minute. A trigger happy co-pilot, an uptight alien commander, and a shy pilot somehow manage to screw up a date request, but reach an amazing HEA anyway. There were so many levels to this book and I absolutely enjoyed the subtle nuances that sometimes the characters didn’t even seem to get. The author completely captivated me from the first shy fumblings, and I can’t wait to read more of the books in her library.
Doesn't everyone who's a little introverted have a pushy friend like Maddy? And...Oh, those filthy blood sucking mosquitos. Yes, I found this tale adorable...
About every hundredth book I get the overwhelming need to sing out in my head "Hi-Ho Silver Away!". This was one of those wonderful times when I knew Lori was going to swoop in to rescue her man, I mean Alien...LOL.
According to the description of the Alien, I found the book cover to be the best I've seen in a while.
I didn't even finish it, and I'm counting it toward my total anyway. The writing is competent but the characters make no sense and the plot is somehow boring. There was no sense of urgency somehow and there really should have been from early on. My opinion might have changed if I finished it but unlikely
This is a hot steamy sexy feel good adventure. I really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters I read it all in one setting. I could not put it down. I highly recommend it.

The third book in the My Holiday Tails series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Lori and Brigan's story had me laughing as I read. I know this is a book I will read again. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really like this book, especially how it turned the whole mars-needs-women alien-abduction tropes on their heads. I love that the aliens are returning abducted women when one of the aliens gets abducted by a human woman <3
Firstly, I'm bummed out that I can't figure out how to access the "Bonus Epilogue" to this novel. Secondly, this novel lacks the world-building and slow-burn romance of the previous two novels. It's a good read, but the first two were WAY better. So it's 4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ for this one, unlike the 5 Stars for the previous two novels in this series.
If anyone knows how to access the Bonus Epilogue, please let me know how in the comments section of this review.
My Birthday Getaway, from author Marina Simcoe’s My Holiday Tails series, is a fun, romantic, alien love story that will have you laughing out loud and cheering for our amazing Commander and Captain.
You can get all the feelings of romance, while diving into a little SciFy, as Marina flawlessly blends a series of genres into one beautiful story.
Pay close attention to the main man’s endearing, um, qualities. You will never look at the words licking, tongue, and petals the same way again!! Whew!!!
SO boring. Also this book was working uphill for me because it's like hard instalove which never does it for me. All characters are completely 2d and lame.
