The Hero Of Tiger Hill

Rate this book
I was not afraid of death. All I prayed for now was to not die before winning back Tiger Hill for India.

On the night of 3 July 1999, grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav, all of 19 years old, was given a very crucial task along with the Ghatak Platoon of 18 Grenadiers Regiment—to capture the impenetrable Tiger Hill. Fresh after capturing Tololing Hill, the unit was high on josh, but also battered and bruised.

Braving the inhospitable terrain, freezing cold weather and facing fierce enemy fire, he was the first in this Ghatak Platoon to reach the top. Even after his body was pierced by multiple bullets and grenade shrapnel, he charged the enemy bunkers and cleared the path for the regiment to capture the mighty peaks of Tiger Hill.

He displayed the most conspicuous courage, indomitable gallantry, grit and determination under extreme adverse circumstances during the Kargil War, which made him the youngest awardee of the highest Indian military award—the Param Vir Chakra.

The Hero of Tiger Hill is the true story of a brave soldier who leaves no stone unturned and fights valiantly for the honour of his country. In his own words, Captain (Hony) Yogendra Singh Yadav gives us an inspiring account of the Kargil War through his transformative journey of fulfilling his most cherished dream of serving the Indian Army.

Book: The Hero of Tiger Hill
Autobiography of a PARAM VIR
"Yogendra Singh Yadav"

Publisher: Sristi Publisher & Distributors
Page count: 192 (Paperback)

✍️ Every Indian's heart skip a beat when listen to the word 'Kargil'. So many sleepless nights, anxieties, heartbreaking news, each and every moment during the war - I guess nobody can explain in words but every Indian will never forget that nightmare.

💐 This book is an autobiography of one of those heroes who faught bravely for his country. Those few lines from Author's note at the very beginning of this book "I was not afraid of death. All I prayed for now was to not die before winning back Tiger Hill" - stole my heart. Nothing can beat this unconditional love towards one's country.

💐 The book is divided under three parts - early years, then becoming soldier and the final part i.e. Kargil war.

Author (Capt.Yogendra Singh Y) has started from grassroot level. He narrated how he spent his childhood days and started gaining knowledge from real life experiences. In his narration, he picturized the difference of emotions of village people from others, value of family, lessons from parents and many similar things beautifully.

He actually tried to showcase the transformation from being a simple village people to become a fearless soldier who did every possible things to get a winning flag for his country. The training phase, the Kargil war phase, talks of other brave officers and their activities, evry single line is enough to make every Indian proud and feel goosebumps. The Capt. had spent 16months in hospital after the war and finally received PARAM VIR CHAKRA.

✍️ A list of all highest award winning soldiers is given at the end of the book. Few pictures inside the book make this book more heart-touching.

🙏 Only salute to those brave heroes and I guess 5 star rating is not enough for this kind of book.

Beautiful Read.. recommending everyone to read this book and pass your gratitude towards those real heroes.

Book Name: The Hero Of Tiger Hill
Author’s Name: Capt. Yogendra Singh Yadav
No. of Pages: 191
Genre: Military/ Autobiography
Target Audience: - Agniveer Aspirants
Age Rating:  11+
Approximate Reading Time: 3 Hours

MY RATING : ✨✨✨✨✨

“Brave men rejoice in adversity, just as brave soldiers triumph in war.”

To begin with, you all know I love military fiction a lot. Leave aside the cover and blurb; the story is as unique and spine-chilling as any Indian might assume. It’s the real story of a soldier who has been through the phase of the Kargil War. The story's central concept is to inspire, educate and spread awareness about how the brave soldiers of our country work so hard and keep their lives at stake just so that we are safe in our homes. I am pleased to have read this book.

The book also includes real-life pictures of the author as he tells us his story before, during and after the Kargil War. You can google the Kargil War if you're unaware of what it was and then come to read this book. The writing style is easy to understand, and the technical terms are explained at the end of the text for your reference. The story is inspiring, unique, brilliant, and whatever you can relate with these words, but it’s a must-read. It’s divided into three parts, thus does not feel like a long, boring account of someone’s life story.

This book is mainly for those who are let down by life and lack motivation. The pages will make the adrenaline rush. Trust me; this will be a great read if you liked movies like Uri, Border, Ghazi Attack etc. ( Bollywood guys!)

It is recommended to all—overall a great read.

Drop a 🇮🇳 in the comments. Jai Hind!

The kind of sacrifices a soldier makes for his nation and the dedication that they posess is next to none. For a long time I was looking forward to read a novel that can give me deep insights into the life of a real warrior and then my search ended with this outstandingly penned book. This work is an ode to the life of youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee Honorary Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav who despite getting hit by more than a dozen bullets was able to capture Tiger Hills.

Born on 10th May 1980 in a small village Aurangabad Ahir, Bulandshahr District, of Uttar Pradesh , he always had fascination for Olive Green. Inspired by his father who served in Kumaon regiment and participated in 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak War he had it in him to bleed for the nation and hence he joined Indian Army at the mere age of 16 years.

In the wee hours of 1999 he was given the task to seize three strategic bunkers on the Tiger Hills. The bunkers were situated at the top of a vertical, snow-covered, 1,000 ft (300 m) cliff face. He volunteered to lead the assault, climbed the cliff face, and installed ropes that would allow further assaults on the feature. In spite of being severely injured he killed four Pakistani soldiers and climbed the hill and reached the top. The Bollywood movie Lakshya starring Hrithik Roshan was also based on his heroic deeds.

There are books that we choose and then there are work which chooses us and this extremely well narrated book by Sir himself falls in the latter category. Everything about it is exceptional and such a pedantic eye of author who mentioned the minutes of details speak volumes about him. I feel myself lucky enough to come across this unmatchable work

Salute to the life of brave man that gives you goosebumps at every step.

Valiant. Fearless. Inspiring.

The Hero of Tiger Hill is an autobiography of Param Vir Chakra awardee Capt ( Hony) Yogendra Singh Yadav. In this book, he traces his entire life journey from a villager to a valiant soldier in three different parts.

In the first part, the author talks about his humble, struggling, beautiful and mischievous childhood and early days, simple and cooperative village life as well as the real struggles of farmer's life. He reminisce about his parents and elder brother who have been his biggest teachers and inspiration.

In the second part, he traces his journey from a civilian to the soldier. He writes about his rigorous and enriching training days which made him realise the value of cooperation, togetherness, firm resolution, patience and country first, how he could not attend his brother's wedding, his first posting in Kashmir and their operations to root out terrorism in Kashmir

In the final part, he unravels everything about Kargil war - why it started, how it started, how it took lives of thousands of our courageous soldiers who fought with indomitable spirit and finally the war on tiger hill in which he showcased exemplary courage, will and determination despite sustaining major injuries which led him to win Param Vir Chakra.

I got goosebumps while reading the book. I just cannot fathom the difficulties they had to endure. It made me realize how blessed we are to live such comfortable lives because our soldiers are working day and night in inhospitable conditions for our safety at the cost of their own lives.

The book is written in a very simple langauge along with his learnings and quotes which makes it a wholesome read.

This is a must read book by every Indian.

For the longest time, we have been connecting War to the First and Second World Wars. Further, we had India Pakistan war and Indo China war to refer to. But the current generation has the Kargil War in mind when we say War in India. Hence when I got the autobiography of Param Vir, Hero of Tiger Hill by Capt (Hony) Yogendra Singh Yadav, I couldn't wait to read it.
The story is not just a Kargil war account. It is an overall self-help book that enables us to face the hardships of life. It is an eye opener to the current generation that falls fat in the face of troubles.
The author is born to a farmer family, which faces a daunting crisis when his father falls ill and the responsibility of the family falls on the mother's shoulders. The strong woman she is, Capt Hony's mother carried the burden with pride and bravado of an iron lady.
The author shows an infectious optimism in finding the positive side of all hardships in life. He believes that the discipline that he received from his brother and the rest of the family prepared him for army training in the future. Later when he fought for the nation, there was nothing that could hold him back because he has been hardened by the circumstances at home. The attitude of the author toward his experiences is self-help learning in itself because it urges us to find goodness in everything.
The Army training and war
For a layman like me, life inside an Army camp and on the war field, and the author being a Soldier has authentically stated his personal experience during the training. It is endearing to read about the experience and it is an eye-opener to all of us as to how we are not respecting the soldiers enough. They keep themselves and their family the least priority.
The author takes us to an unbelievable world where the terrorists live amidst civilians and how the army slowly seeped into their lives and identified the infiltrators. For us, Kargil is all about the bloody war but the battles started way before. The book is sure to bring about a feeling of patriotism in everyone who reads it. We would have witnessed these in various movies but to hear it from the person who was there at the forefront is a special feeling in itself.
The language is simply and rightfully so because the books portray the authors with all their sincerity. Had the book been stuffed with jargon, the simplicity of the author's life would have been lost.
The book is recommended to every Indian who loves their motherland. This is not just a story of a soldier. This is a dedication to all soldiers out there.

"सर्वदा शक्तिशाली"

🇮🇳Subedar Major and Honorary Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav PVC is a retired commissioned officer in the Indian Army, who was awarded the highest Indian military honour decoration, the Param Vir Chakra, for his action during the Kargil War. Aged 19 when he received the decoration, he is the youngest person to be awarded the medal.

🇮🇳Coming from a small town in India, he joined the Army at the tender age of sixteen. His humble beginnings only paved the way for higher achievements with every single step he took. Not only this but he was given a very crucial task along with the Ghatak Platoon of 18 Grenadiers to capture the impenetrable Tiger Hill.

🇮🇳Braving the inhospitable terrain, freezing cold weather and facing fierce enemy fire, he was the first in this Ghatak Platoon to reach the top. 🇮🇳Though there is so much to learn from from the like of Capt. (Hony) Yogendra Singh Yadav, yet you can simple read by yourself from his own narration. The book dictates his Journey from his childhood to armed forces, from armed to the highest military decoration (Param Vir Chakra), and to now.

🇮🇳The book not only dictates the incidents but also shares the lessons taught to self. The book feels to be a self narration that's the most lucid to read among all. I was absorbed and fascinated throughout the read. I must suggest you to read this book for atleast once, regardless of your genre.

☀️ It's not everyday you get to read about the ones who are the foundation of our social lifestyle today. I hope you might something to use, if so my work is done here.

It’s an autobiography of a Param Vir. So I had to pick it up. I will briefly summarise my views here that will give you idea about the book. Capt (Hony) Yogendra Singh Yadav is the youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee in India. The book started from his childhood days. He was born in village in Chaubisa region of the district of Bulandshahr called Aurangabad Ahir. His father was ex-serviceman. He had two brothers. They all helped their parents in work. I liked the dinner time stories and lessons by father incident. My favourite chapter is Family as an inspiration. I loved the part two of the book that is from a civilian to a soldier. I like everything about it. He joined army at age of sixteen. He was given the highest military honour of the country for his exemplary courage during Kargil war. I liked when in end author mentioned postface citation and a page of other soldiers that perform extraordinary duties. In freezing cold weather of Ghatak Platoon, he volunteered to make way through. Even after his body was pierced by multiple bullets and grenade shrapnel, he charged the enemy bunkers and cleared the path for the regiment. It was a thrilling experience while reading too. Imagine doing that in real life. It gave me goosebumps. Read the book to know entire incident and his life story. I loved the book. Author covered almost all important aspects. The book moves at faster pace that keeps the reader hooked. The language of the book is lucid so that everyone can read it. It’s a thrilling experience that captivates your whole attention while reading. Strongly recommended from my side.

“That defense alone is effectual, sure, and durable which depends upon yourself and your valor.”

Instilling a sense of national pride, the book at hand mainly revolves around the 1999 Kargil war, and the vital role was played by the author himself who was entrusted with the task of capturing the ever sturdy and impenetrable Tiger Hill. Delving further, the book is 188 pages long and consists of various chapters. The tone of the book is verily set by the prologue itself as the descriptive and immersive presentation of all which took place while capturing Tiger Hill, for it features all the emotions, tribulations, and the ever-pervasive death lurking in every corner. Further, the first chapter of the book is titled “Childhood Days” which forms a part of the first part of the book stressing the formative years of the author, where the foundation of perseverance was well laid by the author’s family. As we go further, the second chapter marks a progression in the author’s life where he learned his initial lessons of life. As we go deeper, the chapters follow a perfect structure and they easily intertwine with each other streamlining the readability of the book.

The writing style of the book has been kept simple and easy to understand for the readers as the downright honest tone of the book summed with insights from the author’s life further immerses the readers to go deep into the contents of the book. The whole of the stated aspects makes this book a must-read for anyone willing to celebrate the vanguards of our freedom and peace and its rightful custodians and for anyone willing to go for an interesting read.

I was not afraid of death. All I prayed for now was to not die before winning back Tiger Hill.
THE HERO OF TIGER HILL is an autobiography of the youngest Param Veer, Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav. Coming from a small town in India, he joined the army at a tender age of sixteen. His humble beginnings lead him towards higher achievements. The book is basically divided into three chapters-
Part I - Formative years.
Part II - From a civilian to a soldier.
Part III - Kargil War.
The book covers a wide variety of topics including village life, unity among the villagers, familial bonds, life of Indian farmers, life of indian army etc. There was a quote/thought after every chapter, giving a complete look to each chapter.
Although the language used was simple, there were a number of grammatical mistakes scattered here and there, like the tense in a sentence or improper use of capital letters and not using a capital letters when required as in the word God or Lord. A bunch of real-life pictures of the soldier were placed randomly in the centre of book. The pictures of his, could have been placed better with respect to context, which could have enhanced the autobiography to a more higher level.
The book clearly tells us that every one except the author were shot dead from our jawans...I just have one question to put forward before the author- "And who saw you do that other than yourself?"
Apart from this, I loved the story, there were some moments when I even got goosebumps. Would definitely recommend the book.

The memoirs of Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav, the youngest Param Veer, can be found in THE HERO OF TIGER HILL. He enlisted in the army at the youthful age of sixteen, having come from a tiny hamlet in India. Even though he came from a modest background, he has gone on to great things. Part I, "Formative Years," covers the first three chapters of the book.
Second Part - Becoming a Soldier
The Kargil Conflict, Section Three.

Everything from family life to farming in India to serving in the Indian military is discussed in this comprehensive book. After each chapter, the author included a statement or thought that summed up the chapter's main ideas.

Reading about people's actual experiences was uplifting. This really happened. There really have been people killed. Those who serve in our armed forces face real challenges and hardships. As I read, chills ran up and down my spine. It blows my mind that he managed to stay alive. I have no idea what to say. I look up to them as an example of professionalism.

Our independence is something we often take for granted. And here we are, griping about nothing but the little things, while brave people defending us at the 'wall' sometimes go without basic necessities like food and clothes because of the isolation of their postings.

Other than that, the plot was fantastic; there were even parts that gave me the chills. I'd strongly suggest this book to everyone.

This is an autobiography of a heroic soldier who at the age of 19 fought valiantly, stared into the eye of the death and returned to his troops to warn them and finally lived and got the highest military award in India – Param Vir Chakra.

Author shares his life story from childhood to the war. There were many life lessons along the way which helped him shape himself. From working in the farms to the training in the army, he learned from his family members, his training officers, his seniors and above all the circumstances.

When he was 19 years old, the Kargil war started. His platoon was given the task of conquering the Tiger hill. He fought bravely killing many enemies and got the information which later on helped his troops to conquer the Tiger hill effectively. It was one of the major turn point in the Kargil war.

After the war, he was awarded the Param Vir Chakra (PVC). The PVC is India’s highest military decoration, awarded for displaying distinguished acts of valor during wartime. He is the youngest recipient of this award. Also, one of the few alive ones to be awarded. Most of its recipients are awarded posthumously.

He had shown true grit, determination and exemplary courage while surrounded by enemies. We get to see the war up close and fearlessness of our soldiers. It’s a short read and can be finished in a day. Language is very easy. A must read for everyone.

This book is a must read for all Indians. Autobiography of a Param Vir has been written with utmost care and dedication to the brave Indian army captain. I was moved by the book and would recommend it to everyone!

The book covers a wide assortment of subjects including town life, solidarity among the locals, familial bonds, life of Indian ranchers, life of indian armed force and so on. There was a statement/thought after each section, giving a total focus on every part.
Albeit the language utilized was straightforward, there were various linguistic errors dissipated to a great extent, similar to the strained in a sentence or ill-advised utilization of capital letters and not utilizing a capital letters when expected as in the word God or Lord. A lot of genuine photos of the trooper were set haphazardly in the focal point of book. The photos of his, might have been set better as for setting, which might have upgraded the self-portrayal to a more significant level.
The book plainly lets us know that each one with the exception of the writer were shot dead from our jawans...I simply have one inquiry to advance before the writer "And who saw you do that other than yourself?"
Aside from this, I cherished the story, there were a few minutes when I even got goosebumps. Would suggest the book.

THE HERO OF TIGER HILL

was not scared about dying. Now, all I longed for was not to pass away before regaining Tiger Hill for India.

Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav, who was only 19 years old, and the Ghatak Platoon of the 18 Grenadiers Regiment were tasked with taking control of the fortified Tiger Hill on the night of July 3, 1999. The Unit was high on josh but also battered and bruised after just taking Tololing Hill.

He was the first member of this Ghatak Platoon to reach the summit after overcoming the hostile terrain, very cold weather, and ferocious enemy fire. Even with numerous gunshot wounds and grenade shrapnel in his torso, he stormed the enemy bunkers and opened a route for the regiment to seize the formidable peaks of Tiger Hill.

During the Kargil War, he showed the most egregious bravery, unflinching heroism, fortitude, and persistence under extremely challenging conditions, making him the youngest recipient of the highest Indian military honour, the Param Vir Chakra.

The actual account of a gallant soldier who goes above and beyond the call of duty to defend his nation's honour is told in The Hero of Tiger Hill. Through his transformational path toward realising his most treasured desire of joining the Indian Army, Captain (Hony) Yogendra Singh Yadav provides us with an uplifting narrative of the Kargil War in his own words.

by Capt. Yogendra Singh Yadav

This book is about the inspiring story of Subedar Major Yogendra Singh Yadav, the youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee (India’s highest gallantry award ) at the age of 19 for his actions in the 1999 Kargil conflict.

This book describes his journey from his childhood to joining army. I love how he portrayed the whole journey, from being a simple villager to fearless soldier. The way author described the details is just amazing. I felt pride Into my heart as I turned pages..one by one. I just fell in love with their determination. It is just so inspiring!

It felt nice to know about real life stories. This story is real. The lives lost are real. The difficulties and obstacles endured by our soldiers are genuine. I had goosebumps while reading. I can't believe how he survived. I am just speechless. They have my respect!

We tend to take our freedom for granted. We complaining about silly stuff ,all the while when there are valiant souls guarding us at the ‘wall’ who sometimes in remote areas lack of food and clothing.

Please steal some moments from your life and must read this book. Must read for every indian :)🌻

“The ticking of the clock is a marker for progress and change. With every second that passes, we grow a little.”

I would really put the light on the biggest stakeholder of a nation which doesn’t need any introduction i.e. Soldiers. Such people are unstoppable.

The hero of tiger hill is an autobiography of a brave & bold Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav who had received a renowned award of Param Vir. His journey from being a villager to becoming a soldier brings limelight on the obstacles & challenges he went through.
With highly dedication, he had ensure to protect his nation & safeguard the interests of the war & crisis.

We always heard that soldiers had laid their lives on the way to success in the war but never has taken the initiative of recognising their efforts. It’s feel good to read about the real heroes of our nation who had sacrificed almost every second of their lives. Kargil war is one of the toughest war for our brilliant soldiers.

Post each chapter there was a quote which teaches us to see the life in challenging way & never stop yourself by addressing it. In every human, there is a hidden gem of soldier which needs to nurture.

I would say that a person should not read this as a book. Although it should taken as to learn life lessons.

Very recently I had started wondering about the personal lives of the soldiers all around the world. We mainly know them through their work and achievements, almost forgetting about their journey towards this outcome.

Thus I was looking forward to read The Hero of Tiger Hill, a book by the youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Yogendra Singh Jadhav, chronicling his own journey.

At the mere age of 19, he fulfilled his wish of serving in the Indian Army. During the Kargil War, he was given the task of capturing the Tiger Hill – highly dangerous – but which he succeeded in doing so.

In his autobiography he has motivated the readers to a great extent by highlighting the necessary virtues required in life to achieve a goal. Through his own journey he has shown us the value of discipline, hope, family etc.

Every chapter in the book has an underlying message for the readers. With quotes and pictures, it seemed like bonus content for me to get engaged with the book.

The book even talks about his formative years as a child – full of fun and mischief. And thereafter takes a turn to the proceedings of the war. However even that is not mere writing of facts, rather entails the difficult path a soldier decides to trod upon.

The Hero of Tiger hill is an autobiography of Capt (Hony) Yogendra Singh Yadav who was the youngest recipient of highest war time military honour of India, Param Vir Chakra. Battle of Tiger Hill is one of the brightest chapters for India in the Kargil war. It was bravely fought and a major victory for the Indian front.

This autobiography gives the first person account of things that happened in the actual battle. Only the people who are in the attacking front know what happens in the war. There is a narrow rope stretched between victory and death. Each soldier has to walk past through this tightrope in order to emerge victorious. Only with sheer grit and determination one can pass through this test.

The autobiography is divided into three parts. First part covers the formative years of Capt. Yadav. The second part draws our attention through the transformation of a civilian into a soldier. The last part explains the Kargil war. Altogether it was a well told autobiography. But there were some grammatical mistakes which broke the flow of the narration. Also the photos of author were placed out of context. It will be better if it was given in the proper context.

"When we meet someone, it is up to us to leave a mark in their mind and heart with our deeds."

Today, I finished reading this amazing book and I couldn't help myself from expressing my views about the book.

"THE HERO OF TIGER HILL" by Capt Yogendra Singh Yadav is an Autobiography of a soldier who is a Param Veer.

The story revolves around Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav, who was just 19 years old when he fought the Kargil War. The book not only tells us the story of a soldier in the war field, but it also highlights a journey which transformed a civilian into a military personal.

The book tells us about his life as a kid in the village, the struggles he faced and the things he learned from the common people. This book is not just a story but it is an inspiration.

Overall, I loved the story a lot. Its an autobiography hence the book is narrated by Grenadier Yogendra himself. The Narration is superb. I felt as if he himself is narrating the story to me. I loved the whole view of the book. The war part was engaging as well as frightening. I loved the book a lot and therefore I suggest everyone to read this book. It has a lot to tell you.
Happy Reading.

WHO ON EARTH AM I TO RATE THIS BOOK?

How life throws at you the most unexpected and ravishing tasks is unpredictable but you being capable of standing face to face with every challenge is what is commendable. We see and read about the wars and fights on the borderlines all the time but have you ever read a book written by a survivor of such situations? Well, I just did and I was amused, astonished, furious, stressed, and sad all at the same time. This is the account of Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav, who had to take up the fierce fight of the Tiger Hill on his shoulders along with his battalion. This was when they had already won a battle before. So now they had to achieve this goal bruised and injured.

Books like this stir a human’s soul and have a lot of incidents that will make you question everything you do and feel bad about in daily life. Those things become of so little importance when one looks at the struggle and courage of the soldiers. Mr. Yadav has presented to his readers the vivid recalling of what he experienced and he has concealed a lot too. I can never say enough about this book. Book of wars and battles always leave me in an introspecting state.
While I introspect, make your mind and get your hands on it.

War stories have always intrigued me and this book gave me goosebumps. When I read the narrative of conquering Tiger Hill which is one of the hardest terrains, I felt that the contents of this one book is not enough to highlight the bravery and patriotism of soldiers like Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav and other bravehearts who fought alongside Captain Yadav. I want more books to be published of such soldiers who take pride in protecting their motherland.
Right from the time of strategizing the battle to charging on the enemy lines, this book feels like fiction and unfathomable for civilians like us who are safely tucked in our houses.

More than the action along the enemy lines, this book shed light on the mentality and the mettle with which soldiers are made of. Despite getting hit by bullets, they charged the enemies as if their bodies never faced any injuries.

As a human being who has the highest respect for any man in uniform, this book has been an inspiring, endearing and a complete adrenaline-rush read for me to know the story of 19 year old soldier, Yogendra Singh Yadav who is the youngest recipient of the Param Veer Chakra.

This book tells us an inspirational journey of Major Yogendra Singh Yadav who is the youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee. He at the age of 19 received the PVC for his actions in the 1999 Kargil conflict. Param Vir Chakra which mean "Wheel of the Ultimate Brave" is India's highest level award for military people for their bravery and services to the nation.

In this book we go through his life journey from being a kid in a village to joining army and after. His mistakes, learnings from surrounding, his family struggle and his inspiration to join army all of these well represented and made reader experience the world in view of the Major. Not so many are aware of the freedom struggle that India went through and not many knows the hard life of soldier guarding the borders to protect us. This book gives a glimpse of how it feels to be a soldier and how war looks like from ground.

Saluting to all the brave soldiers protecting our nation from in and out on day and night, this book is a worth read and recommended to everyone.

Before I say anything about this book I must tell you this is a must read for anyone who appreciates the Indian Army and the hardships they go through. This book shows an inside view on how tough their lives are and yet with how much pride they put their country and patriotism first.

This is an autobiography of A Param Vir, Capt (Hony) Yogendra Singh Yadav. He tells us the story of how despite everything he gave his everything to secure the Tiger Hill for India.

This is a true story and some parts are so chilling you’re left with goosebumps just thinking of the situation the real people involved in it must’ve been in.
If this book doesn’t increase your respect for the people serving in the armed forces, I don’t know what will.

It’s a very well written book, even though the writing style really doesn’t matter in such books because the story has your entire heart. You can’t help but feel a sense of pride reading the words of the author and feel happy he’s a part of your country’s army’s

It’s a must read book, and I’d recommend it to all.
