From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author comes the next book in the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team. Trust Laramie Briscoe to provide engaging characters in a well-built world I want to revisit again and again. Carly Phillips, NY Times bestselling author. Fan favorite Mason “Menace” Harrison get a chance to show off how he runs the Laurel Springs Police Department. I’ve worked my way up from being the single dad on the original Moonshine Task Force to the leader of the Laurel Springs Police Department. Getting the title of Chief of Police is one of the most important things I’ve ever done.
On the second official day of my command - a teenage girl is taken.
I’ve never been the type of person to back down from a challenge. With my guys, my kids, and my wife by my side I know I can do anything I set my mind to. I just wasn’t counting on it possibly tearing the town of Laurel Springs apart.
Like always, when they need a knight in shining armor, I’ll be there. And I won’t let the girl go without a fight.
If there’s one thing I promise. It’s to keep my family and my town safe. Lord help anyone who stands in my way.
This was an amazing look at Mason's life now. I loved his story, and this was exactly what I needed. I can't wait for the next book to come out next year.
This is the eighth book in the series. The author takes you back into Mason(a.k.a. Menace) and Rina's lives along with past characters. She brings action, mystery, suspense and kidnapping along with the continued chemistry and love. She moves the story quickly and smoothly and delivers a terrific read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.
This new addition to the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team Series gives us another look at Menace and Karina from the Moonshine Task Force Series. Menace has been the new Chief of Police for two days when tragedy strikes the small town and a teen is missing and Karina still teaching at the school helps solve her disappearance.
Menace is one of my favorite books and the book that helped me find this author. I was excited when I learned that we were getting a new book focused on two of my favorite characters.
This is a quick read. It made me happy to see that Menace and Karina are still happily married and have fantastic chemistry. The way they support each other is amazing.
The suspenseful plot hooked me and I found myself anxious while waiting for everything to be solved. I did have to suspend some belief that Karina was so deeply involved in solving the crime and I was disappointed to learn their son and his wife are having problems. I feel like marriages have ups and downs, I was left needing a resolution for Caleb and Ruby. I feel their story is setting up for reconciliation in a future book.
This story is filled with love, loyalty, and family. It’s full of familiar faces and some new faces. It has spice, humor, suspense, and some twists. I love the introduction of Madden and his K-9 Donut. I’m looking forward to his book.
This is book eight in The Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team Series and it is Menace ( Mason ) and Rina’s story as he becomes Chief of Police for Laurel Springs Police Department and omg it is definitely a must read. Menace is just about to call it a night when a call comes in and gunshots are fired so now they were all on route to see what had happened but when they get there the husband and wife are dead and they have been shot by a intruder and the teenage girl was missing and Menace will turn everything upside down to find her and hopefully bring her home safely even though they have zero evidence at the moment and don’t know why the family was targeted. Wow what an emotional journey and every single parent’s nightmare and I love how the whole town worked together to help bring Taylor home and give her all the love, care and support that she would need and it was such a beautiful thing to see and just the type of place where you would want to live because of all the love and support that they give each other. I absolutely loved that Menace and Rina’s are still so in love after so many years together and can sense when and what each other need and some of there connections were so hot and intense which was just like there chemistry and you could literally feel it sizzling of the pages. My heart broke for Taylor and what she had gone through including the lose of her parents and then you have Caleb and Ruby and what they are going through and you hope that they can communicate and sort out there problems and become the family that they were before. There are so many emotions going on in this story and I felt like I was there living through everything with them and it had me in tears so many times. I couldn’t put this book down as it was so addictive and the storyline pulled you in and just wouldn’t let you go and I read it in one sitting until the early hours of the morning but hey who needs sleep when you have one of Laramie Briscoe books to read certainly not me as she is an incredible author and writer and knows how to keep her readers attention while having them on the edge of their seats and going back time and time again to read more of her books. I definitely recommend you read this book and others by Laramie and you will not be disappointed.
Mason, aka Menace, is newly promoted to Chief of LSERT and his first large case involves the kidnapping of a teenage girl, after the killing of her parents. What is the cause? Why her? Who? What for? Where did they go? So many questions. Each lead and tip needs to be followed and the team is working in full force. Time is of the essence and little reward, save for hunches and gut feelings. All in a days work for these guys, but Mason's son and his wife are a having difficulties and distractions wont and can't get in the way. When their issues are known, there is little others can do. Whilst her fears are understandable, her reaction and reasonings are strong and confusing, especially as she knew what her husband did for a living when they met..hardly supportive. It fizzled out as it was unclear if they actually resolved and reconciled. It is an interesting start to Menace's position, challenging certainly. As a shorter storyline, it is designed to straddle the MTF and LSERT generations, providing continuity of policing the town. If you have read any of the books in this series then you know who Mason "Menace" Harrison is. He runs the Laurel Springs Police Department. He has come from being a single dad on the Moonshine Task Force to now being the Police Chief. He is now a man who takes his job very seriously and is very proud of the work he has done to get to where he was. However, we all know that things never go perfectly for very long and on the second day of him being the police chief a teenage girl is taken. This is a huge thing to have happened in Laurel Springs and Mason is a man who loves his wife and kids and the men he considers brother and family. The man can do anything with their support. However this is a crime that is going to test him at every turn and possibly tear the town of Laurel Springs apart. However he is not a man to back down from anything and he takes his vow to keep the town of Laurel Springs safe. Whoever took this girl is going to rue the day he ever committed this crime in Laurel Springs. I loved being back in Laurel Springs again. I loved getting to see Menace and Karina again and get caught up with them and some of my other favorite characters in this series. I love their relationship and how they support each other no matter what. This is not a very long read and I don't want to give anything away. The plot was great and had me on the edge of my seat a few times. If you love the Laurel Springs and Moonshine Task force series then this is a book you do not want to miss.
Just what we needed to catch up with Mason/Menace when he takes over as Chief of Police for his small close knit community. Don't mess with him as he is not playing when it comes to protecting his and that includes his community as well as his family!
This is a short, sweet with heat novella that has us watching Menace facing a big challenge on his 2nd day on the job. Nothing like this has ever happened in their small town and as their chief protector, he is going to bring down the individual that has terrorized his town and the security they once felt. This also will help him bring to the job some new safety measures for the local HS as well as self defense classes to make everyone feel safer in his community. He did not disappoint and we still feel the chemistry between him and Rina. There were many twists and turns, and real life situations from our favorites. We get to meet some new faces and catchup with some old as well. BUT... ultimately, we see Menace in the role he was born to be in.... LEADER!
Menace and Rina are as strong as ever and we get to see them in a different light as they are empty nester grandparents who still lean on one another and have their sexy times too! Along with them as a couple, it gives us a glimpse into their children's lives as well. Can you say... Caleb and Ruby novella coming soon? 😊
Laramie is always a one click for me.. I love her style and she is a great storyteller! Read this, you will not be disappointed!!.

OMG! Intense! It pulled me in from the very beginning. This wasn't as much like the other books in the series, in that it didn't focus on a couple in the getting to know you phase. Mason and Karina have been married for a long time, and are still very much in love with each other. Instead, the focus is on trying to find a teenage girl who has been kidnapped, her parents brutally murdered. Nothing like that has ever happened in Laurel Springs, and it just so happens to occur on Mason's second official day as Police Chief. He won't rest until she's found, and the toll it takes on him, physically and emotionally, is brutal. But of course there are relationships here, and Mason's wife Karina is prominent in his life. She's the support he needs to keep investigating, keep digging, long after his body wants to call it a day. Their relationship is a beautiful thing. He is her rock, and she is his. We again get a little glimpse into the lives of family and friends that we know, too, weaving the Laurel Springs tapestry just a little tighter. And we're introduced to the newest member of the team, K9 handler Madden, and his partner Donut. Can't wait for their story next! As always, strong characters and a compelling story combine to create a new piece of the Laurel Springs puzzle. Though this is a little different than we may be used to, it is not to be missed. I couldn't put it down.

Mason is the new police chief. He loves his job, his family and his town. Laurel Springs is normally a quiet town. When two people are murdered in their home and their teenaged daughter goes missing, Mason and his team have their work cut out for them.
I haven't read the prior books in the series and I feel like I might have liked this story more if I had. I thought that Mason (aka Menace) was a good character. He's smart, likable, relatable, and well rounded. His wife Rina is the perfect cops wife. The mystery of the missing girl was good. I did have some questions about the timeline because the author didn't specify choosing instead to drop hints about the timeline into the story (for example, how long was the teenage missing?). It's not a dealbreaker but it does cause me to stop and try to calculate. Also, if this story took place over multiple weeks or months then I would have liked the characters to grapple with the fact that life continued on even though the girl hadn't been found. That was a missed opportunity in my opinion. Overall, I think this is a good story and well written. I will read more from this author in the future.

Mason is on his second day as the newly elected police chief of the Laurel Springs Police Dept when a call comes in about gunshots in a fairly remote part of town. As those on duty head to the scene, they find a couple dead and their daughter Taylor missing. Thus begins the process of figuring out who has taken her, why, where she is, and how to get her back. Mason is determined to find Taylor, no matter how long it takes, and bring her home. As he leads his men, chasing down leads from the community, watching camera footage, and doing all the typical things police do in these situations, he and his men never give up hope, backed by Mason’s wife Rhina, and his community.
This book joins several others of the Moonshine Task Force/Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team series, of which at least other one features Mason, and another his son Caleb. Many of the same cast of characters are woven into the books, with little bits of information added each time to flesh out this group of men and their families. Great characters, typical police problems, and a tight knit force always there to back their community. An interesting, fairly short read.

Since Mason and Rina and one of my favorite - if not the favorite - couples of all of the Laurel Springs series, I was beyond excited to read a new story that would share more of their lives. Also, I really like the idea of showing couples years after, like and extended HEA (when it comes to love story, not the murder and abduction investigation, of course). And Laramie Briscoe did not disappoint. I loved that, even though - as all of the male characters in those series - Mason is all tough and alpha, he treats Rina as his equal and asks her for help. Especially, as Rina is a tough one herself.
What I didn't like though was one particular scene, that could have been written better. When Mason, after coming home from a long and difficult day and mentions that he doesn't need any help in terms of mental/emotional health, because he has Rina, it sort of give vibes that a good bang can make you skip counselling. And I'm pretty sure, having read many other books by this author, that it was more so an expression of love and lust towards his wife and not dismissing the idea of professional help, but as I mentioned earlier, it could have been worded better.

Mason "Menace" Harrison has taken over as the leader of the Laurel Springs ERT and has the chance to show how well he can lead this team of amazing men and women. When a child is missing it will take his leadership skills, the training and knowledge of his crew as well as the town of Laurel Springs to come together to find the young girl and bring her home safe and sound.
It's a stressful time for the town and the family with a missing girl. However the ERT won't rest until she is found and brought home and Menace will lean on his wonderful wife to help him and his team since she works at the high school that the young girl attends. This is one of the reasons why the Laurel Springs ERT are such a great team, they know when to ask for the towns people to help when they aren't finding anything. It's also what makes Laurel Springs such a great place to live, everyone looks out for their neighbors.
I loved it! Menace was my favorite book in the original series and to have a book that shows the lives of the characters as they grow and live their lives, it's great! Thank you, Laramie Briscoe for sharing such a great series.
WARNING: This book contains a child kidnapping that some readers may find disturbing or be triggered. For those who choose to continue, you won’t be disappointed!
These characters are so well written that you become immersed in their lives and feel like you too are a part of the family.
I love these wonderful characters in this small town and can't wait to find out what happens next!
Mason is now the chief of police and has to deal with a double murder and a child kidnapping right off the bat. Laurel Springs has had its share of small town crime but never anything like this. Fortunately, Mason has Rina by his side to keep him grounded. He couldn't have someone better.
It's refreshing that Mason and Rinna are still so into each other after so many years together. We all should strive for that kind of relationship. All it takes is continually choosing each other and communication.
I gave this 4 out of 5 stars due to the anticlimactic way the kidnapper was dealt with. It felt like something was left on the floor and was a missed opportunity. Even with that said, I recommend this story.
We're back in our favorite place Laurel Springs and now Mason "Menace" Harrison is the new chief of police and on his second day of official duty the unthinkable happens evil comes to their small town and it's up to Mason to stop it he'll be the dark knight that the town needs. When he gets to the scene he's shocked to find a double murder and a kidnapping of a teenage girl and there aren't any security cameras anywhere on the house and they live out in the country where your closest neighbor is miles away. The kidnapper already has a head start so they're going to have to do some good old fashioned police work and everyone is going to work overtime until they bring Taylor home. We get to visit with our friends in the MTF and we meet the new K-9 officer and Donut his partner we see Caleb and Ruby struggling as he works so many hours of OT and Mason is there to talk to his officers as they work this emotional case. We know that Mason won't stop until he brings Taylor home to her family and he's thankful for the loving support of his wife Rina who helps keep him going she gives him the strength to do his job. You really need to read this wonderfully written story to see what happens. I would definitely recommend reading this book. I voluntarily received a review copy of this book
This book is a continuation of the story of the amazing couple readers first meet in Menace. It gives an insight into both the personal and professional lives of Mason (Menace) Harrison and his wife Rina. His Chief of Police job has just begun when a nightmare scenario takes place throwing a family, his community and his team into a state of chaos and fear. The clues are few and far between, leaving everyone on edge, frustrated and even angry. Through it all, the community steps up to rally around a grieving family, praying they will get a chance to offer support to the young victim of the horrific crime. Menace works tirelessly along with his team and the FBI to find the victim and the perpetrator. Rina is his saving grace, his ultimate support system that listens to his concerns, encourages his efforts and generally keeps him moving forward. Her faith in him is absolute, just as his is in her. Together they can face anything life throws at them, though this crime has left everyone shaken, including them.

Mason is my favorite MTF character. I love him and Karina together. While I enjoyed the book, I felt like something was missing.
Mason is now the Chief of Police, and his first big case is a kidnapping. Karina is helping him with the case. I love seeing the two of them together, after all the years and everything they have faced they are still going strong. Things were going well until they solved the case. I was left with questions that received no answers.
Also, Caleb and Ruby are having problems. Throughout the book everyone is going back and forth with staying out of it and then asking questions until the end, when nothing is resolved, not even a to be continued. I’m not sure if there is a follow up book or not as I think the next book is Madden’s book. I was left with more questions here too.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. Mason doesn’t disappoint.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I just absolutely adore this series! I love Menace and Katrina! Seeing more of their story just makes me feel like I am getting caught up with long lost friends!
Menace is now the Chief of Police. The second day on the job comes with a case that the town has never seen before. Is Menace up for the task? Will the kidnapping of a high schooler turn into a cold case and haunt Menace forever? There are so little clues. Little evidence!
This story is written in a dual POV format. Getting that glimpse into the main characters' thoughts really help me to connect with them and have a better understanding of their actions.
There is a cliff hanger in a way. Not everything is a fairy tale for the couples. One couple seems to be falling apart. I hope more is given in the next story as to their situation.
This is a sexy read so there is a word of caution on that note.
I'm super grateful that Laramie Briscoe gave us this novella that surrounds Mason (aka Menace) as he becomes Chief of Police, and not because his marriage has hit the skids as he & Rina are going strong. He's only on Day 2 of being the boss a teenage girl goes missing, and that's never happened before so he's totally on his own with how to run this. Luckily, he's up for the task & things pop off as he races against time to find this girl alive. This means there are twists coming in hot which had me on the edge of my seat grinning ear to ear since it's my happy place. There are also appearances from other favorites on top of some new faces which I hope get stories very soon. On top of all this goodness, there's an emotional aspect because of another couple, and now I need their story like yesterday because seriously. You can't go wrong with Laramie Briscoe so just hit those one click buttons (after you read Menace) as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Mason (Menace) and Karina are my most favourite couple of the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team. I am absolutely delighted to get to read another instalment in their lives as Mason navigates his new role as Chief of Police. When tragedy strikes, Mason rises to the occasion. Mason is truly a Knight in shining armour, loyal, dependable, honest, dedicated and persistent. Mason proves that no detail is too small or insignificant during a crisis. I love how Karina loves and has absolute faith in and supports Mason and his abilities. They still have intense passion, sizzling chemistry and hot and steamy scenes. This story consumed my attention and I read it in one sitting. I fervently hope there are more stores about Menace. I absolutely loved and highly recommend this wonderfully written and amazing story. I received an ARC for an honest review.
Menace and Rina are back!! And even better than before!! If I could give this book 10+ stars I would! Laramie has given us countless characters over the years to love, but Mason and Karina are a couple she could write about over and over & I don't think we would ever tire of them. At the very beginning of this story I was on the edge, not knowing if this would be a happy ending or not, but just reading this story and bringing the MTF gang together once more definitely put me in my happy place!! If you haven't read books by Laramie, you are definitely missing out, she is one of the best at story telling I have read ever and I have been reading for over 50+ years! I really can't put into words as to what a wonderful writer she is!! Read Knight, before that read Menace, heck read all her books, you will not regret it!!!
I didn’t realize how much I’d been missing the Laurel Springs family until this book opened up and I was enfolded in their embrace once again. Mason has always been one of my favorite members of the LSPD and in this book he’s simply proven why that’s an opinion I’m not likely to change any time soon. I loved how he and Rina were always there for each other no matter what else was going on. And that support extended out to every member of their family and community that needed it. Now that we’ve met Madden and Donut, I can’t wait to read more about them. I’m also dying to learn the rest of the story of what’s going on with Caleb and Ruby. The author has a devoted fan for life in me and I can’t wait to get my hands on whatever comes next. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author through Buoni Amici Press.
Mason and Rina are one of my favorite Laurel Springs couples so I was thrilled to see a new book about them. Mason and Rina have gotten older but their relationship is still going strong and hot! Mason is now the police chief and his second day on the job is faced with a murder and kidnapping. With little evidence Mason is forced to get creative in looking for clues to the suspect. With the help of Rina and some old and new K9 officers they are able to find a break in the case. There is just enough suspense to keep you reading and that hometown quality I’ve come to love about Laramie’s books.
It is always fun to visit Laurel Springs and Knight was no exception. We even meet a new K9 officer and his new partner who has quite an interesting name thanks to the people of Laurel Springs and I can’t wait to read more about him.
This is book eight in The Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team Series and it is Menace ( Mason ) and Rina’s story as he becomes Chief of Police for Laurel Springs Police Department. I love Menace and Rina as a couple and it was awesome to check in on them.
A continuation to Mason and Karina's story. Full of the scorching love they have for eachother, their family and their careers. Mason is now the police chief and unfortunately has a tough case that wears on him physically and emotionally. Not wanting to let the town, the worrying family, and his wife down, he does everything possible to solve this case. Karina, hit hard with the disappearance of this young girl, looks to Mason for reassurance and comfort. Both discover when their strengths are intertwined they are an unstoppable force. Also, side note, the intermingling of Caleb and Ruby's story, keeps us wanting more. I hope there is an additional story on them. Mason and Karina are my favorite couple. This story just cemented that fact. Both of these characters are wonderful, passionate and realistic.
Knight is super intense and really well written. Mason is even more delectable now than he was in the Moonshine Task Force series, and I love that we get to revisit him and Rina again so intimately. The lifestyle and pressures that first responders consciously choose in their selfless journey of helping others is highlighted so poignantly in this novel, which centers around a child abduction case. With triggering content, this story is not for the faint of heart or those that carry trauma around that type of case, but it is soooo good and well worth the read. I love all the family dynamics and watching the MTF couples with their grown kids and as grandparents. We get a healthy dose of that in this story, and it is so much fun. I just love this world, and I can’t wait for the next book to release!.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A horrible event has just happened in Laurel Springs. Mason is newly in charge and the decisions he will make are critical to the case. Not surprisingly, his leadership and determination shine through the investigation. His family openly shows their support him, and it’s clear that he cherishes them. Mason and Rina still have intense chemistry and heat up the pages. There is a bit of humor with a new K-9 and a bit of sadness with a favorite couple. I was beyond excited when I read the blurb for Knight (Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team. Book 8). I have a weakness for Menace, he is a favorite from the Moonshine Task Force. But even if he isn’t yours, you’ll enjoy the book and being back in Laurel Springs.
It always fun when I get to visit my favorite couple in this series. Mason aka Menace is taking over from Holden as the police chief and his start to the office is not a pleasant one.
A teenage girl is taken without a trace which triggers all of Mason's instincts into overdrive. He'll stop at nothing to get her back safe and sound. Throughout it all, Rina has his back no matter what he needs. Their relationship is one filled with understanding, support and most of all love. It was an absolute thrill to see all the gang doing everything in their power to keep their town safe.
After revisiting our "old" couples, I'm looking forward to seeing our new K-9 addition next.
I’d read the moonshine task force but not any of this series so it was great to catch up with Mason and Rina.
I love how “real” the author makes her characters and their lives and isn’t afraid to show the harder parts of relationships.
My heart broke for when the characters struggled but I know there is always a resolution to these things and I’m holding tight to that thought for the future books in this series.
I loved the strength of Rina and her adoration for her family shine through. Mason was so calm and collected his inner strength is the core of the entire family and it’s adorable to see him with the younger kids.
An engaging story with great character development, I loved this book.

This is the eighth book in this incredible series, and this is Mason / Menace and Rina’s story. Mason is the chief of police and when a teenage girl goes missing, there will be no rest until she is found. Rina is there to support and comfort Mason, and well as the students that she teaches. My heart broke for their son and his wife who are struggling. Can the missing girl be found before it is too late? This is a well written story which has family, friendships, twists, emotions, twists, suspense, tension, intrigue, mystery, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, unpredictable, and steamy small-town romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
MTF was what hooked me on Laramie's books so there is nothing better than going back and re-visiting an original member like Mason (Menace), loving wife Rina and their now even larger family. Menace is now the Laurel Springs chief of police since Holden retired. Its trial by fire and all hands on deck required when a double murder and kidnapped teenager happens one night in their quiet no major crime town. Its a race against time for all of LSPD and their family member to save the missing teenage girl. We also get to meet the new K-9 whom the town picked its name (you'll never believe what they picked) and his handler. Cant wait for the upcoming books in the series. I received an advanced copy for my honest review.
