Assholes

Rate this book

In this, er, 'unique' illustrated potted history of the human race, Twitter icon James Felton uses his inimitable brand of banter to unveil the slyest, creepiest and/or nastiest specimens who've ever lived.

Enter the 16th Century Chinese Emperor Zhegende, whose harem was so big some of the women within it died of starvation, King Charles II's executioner who would only give you a clean beheading if you paid properly for it beforehand, and llya Ivanovich Ivanov, the 19th Century scientist who was a mega asshole and if you buy the book you'll find out why.

Darkly funny, highly informative and always unbelievable, these are the dead people you should be mad at.

Kohtuullisen ärsyttävästi kirjoitettu kirja. Paskiaisten toilailut jäi kovin pinnallisiksi ja ne vitsit, voi Jeesus, toivottavasti tää kaveri ei elätä itseään näillä vitseillä.

Some people from the past were not nice at all. Felton explores a few of them that aren't as widely known. I've come across a few and, to be honest, a couple of the women weren't arses; they were seeking revenge when a loved one had been brutally murdered. Short chapters make this a good book to dip in and out of.

This made me laugh and continues the wonderful trend of accurate and useful history and social lessons that are worth knowing.

A mix of individuals, famous, infamous and ordinary, to corporations on both local, national and international levels. From ancient Rome to basically yesterday. Some I knew about, some I didn't know the worst things they'd actually done and some are so bad already heinous people thought they had gone too far.

There really are a lot of arseholes and the worst just get away with it by being born into privilege. An argument for getting rid of every kind of nepotism and inherited power loop hole possible.

Olipas turhanpäiväinen kirja! Kirjoittajan kielenkäyttö ja sanavalinnat olivat ala-arvoisia. Vaikka pahisten teot olisivatkin olleet miten hirveitä tahansa, ei kirjailijan olisi kannattanut heittäytyä samanlaiseen epäsoveliaaseen kerrontaan.

Another excellent book in Jim's continued attempts to show us that people being pricks, especially those in charge, isn't as modern phenomena.

Another fine collection of weird items from James Felton. A reminder, perhaps, that it's not just cream that rises to the top.

Standup-komiikkaa kirjana, vähän rasittavaa ”kiroilua”.

An short, but amusing and educational look into some of the more undesirable people in history. I really enjoyed the book and the style in which it is written. I look forward to seeking out more from this author.
