Spoilt Princess Nefi must choose a husband from The Pharaoh’s and Nefertiti ‘s hand-picked suitors. It feels like a business arrangement, but Nefi yearns to find her twin flame. By eloping with sexy Sobek, the man of her dreams, she angers both mortals and gods.

They command Lord Idu, her “minder” and would-be husband, to get her back. But she won’t have Idu. In her book he’s no wall painting, and she falls for Sobek’s pretty face.

Fast forward thousands of years, and Nefi wakes in her burial chamber, only to be disturbed by an American Egyptology team. Nefi’s ghost thinks the gods have reincarnated Sobek as team leader, Leo, and she takes over the body of Leo’s girlfriend, Alison, and returns with him to the USA. Ancient Egypt arrives in New York City.

But she’s committed grave sins against divine justice and she’s in a whole heap of trouble. Well, the gods aren’t having that. They don’t forgive and forget easily, and they send the spirit of Idu to return her soul to Osiris. In this fish-out-of-water body-swap rom-com, an ancient Egyptian princess struggles to make sense of modern Manhattan, masquerade as Leo’s fiancée and keep Idu and the gods off her back while she gets her new life buttoned down, not to mention bat off the spirit of Alison, who’s absolutely spitting.

Fans of body swap romance, royalty and aristocrats romance or rom com will love this book set in ancient Egypt and modern Manhattan.

Enjoyable easy-read story with some amusing characters and dialogue. I tend to enjoy time travel books so I chuckled during Nefi's antics as she found herself suddenly living in the modern world having been buried in a tomb in ancient Egypt many centuries before. I couldn't help but wonder what it would really be like to bounce from such an ancient time to the modern world. The book is a simple love story made into a somewhat crazy adventure. The characters and their antics kept me grinning throughout the story. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The story makes the interesting choice to transplant a modern teenager's mindset and vernacular into someone from a different time and place, making Egyptian religion and culture accessible to a modern audience. This makes it easier to see the universality in some life experiences.

I enjoyed the book and read it in a single sitting, and feel that the book achieved what the author intended.

I felt it also could make a good comedy movie for general audiences with the bodyswapping, fish out of water, and supernatural themes. My main criticism was that I didn't feel that Leo was a believable character, but this type of character would work in such a comedy movie and that's how I chose to interpret him.

I can’t give you a zero so I give you a one. This was horrible. What do you mean the dude switched bodies from a capybara to a human just to have sex. This was so stupid. No one read it. It’s dumb. All the characters suck ass!!! Waste of time.

I had a chance to read this book from Book Sirens.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. The middle was a bit slow. The beginning and ending was very good. Kept me wanting to read more.

I wish there was an epilogue to know more about how everything ended.

I will be reading more books by this author.
