I never imagined the hottest proposition I’d ever get would include the word ‘yurt,’ but there it was.
I'm Aubrey Kasper. I live in a dilapidated old resort in the mountains in Colorado that should probably be torn down.
Instead? I'm renovating it with my brother. Archie (my brother) needs me, but he also needs some outside help, which is why he ended up inviting my high school crush to open up the bar operations.
If I thought Wiley Blanchard was hot in high school... well, I couldn't have possibly imagined the fully grown-up, master distiller, smooth-talking version. He's tall, dark, and hilarious, exactly the way I like them.
Wiley might not know quite what he's getting into. For one thing, I've definitely got the hots for him, and I'm not the most polished of flirts. (Turns out putting guys in a headlock doesn't alway communicate: I like you.) For another thing, he's stepping into a huge mystery our uncle set up for us... and if we can find the treasure he left, it just might save us all!
I'm USA Today Bestselling author Delancey Stewart. My contemporary romances run the gamut of settings and setups, but they always deliver humor, heart and heat. It's a guarantee.
I write from my home in Denver, CO, where I manage a household full of boys and men. Okay, only one man. The hubs. But two boys. I mean, three if you count the hubs. (You see why I do words and not numbers. I was told there'd be no math in this bio. Someone lied.)
I grew up in California and have had more jobs than anyone on earth (personal trainer, pharmaceutical rep, copywriter, tech writer, marketing director, wine seller, elementary school teacher... I'm not kidding. The list. It goes on.) But the one I love the most is writing, in part because I get to meet people who love books and stories as much as I do! Please don't hesitate to get in touch to say hello, and don't forget to join my newsletter!
I'm super excited to share my new series with readers! It's everything you've told me you love: - A series of interconnected standalones in Dual POV, first person - Set in a small town - Centered around a tight-knit group of friends (extra points 'cuz they're ex-military fighter pilots!) - Hot emotional romances - Plenty of humor and quirky side characters - An ongoing mystery that spans all the books
I had actually read the first full book in this series, Only a Fling before I read this little novella. This is the story of how Aubrey Kasper and Wiley came to be a couple in a very short (60 page) insta-love, crush on an older brother's friend trope. Since Aubrey and Wiley were fairly prominent secondary characters in Just a Fling it was nice to learn how they became a couple and get a little more of their personalities. I suspect there's an earlier book or series where Wiley and his twin brother and their Maryland distillery were introduced. But all we really learn about Wiley in this novella is that he had been with his previous girlfriend (then fiancée) all through high school until the present time when they'd just amicably broken up agreeing that they really weren't what the other needed in a romantic partner after years of being together. We also learn Wiley has a twin brother who is in a long term relationship with a woman who runs a vineyard in Virginia. Again, I suspect an earlier book. We learn that Aubrey is the 23 year old younger sister of Archie "Ghost" Kasper. Aubrey has recently graduated from college and Archie has convinced her to help him renovate and reopen the Kasper Ridge Resort they inherited from their eccentric Uncle Marvin whom they'd spent summers with as children. Aubrey is a petite bundle of energy and isn't afraid to speak her mind. We also learn that Aubrey is a black belt in some form of martial arts. Wiley and Aubrey feel an immediate attraction but Wiley is hesitant to make a move on his friend and now boss's younger sister. Especially since his plans only involve remaining at Kasper Ridge for the summer to help them open the bar portion of the resort. Aubrey who had a school girl crush on the 5 years older Wiley when she was 12, decides to take matters into her own hands and makes it explicitly clear to Wiley what she'd like to do with and to him. It's an offer Wiley can't refuse despite whatever concerns he might have. One night of hot sex together and both Wiley and Aubrey suspect this is going to be much more than a summer fling.
When I first started reading "Only a Summer," the story seemed familiar to me. I checked my bookshelves and realized that a version of it was previously published as "Treasured" in the Summer Love anthology. It's now a standalone prequel to Delancey Stewart's upcoming Kasper Ridge series, which appears to be a spinoff of the Singletree series.
Having recently ended a four-year engagement to his high school sweetheart, Wiley Blanchard is happy to accept his old friend Archie Kasper's invitation to spend the summer in Colorado. He'll be helping Archie and his younger sister Aubrey set up the bar in the ski resort they inherited from their eccentric Great-Uncle Marvin. Aubrey had a huge crush on Wiley when they were teenagers, but she was too young for him to notice her back then. Now that she's all grown up, Wiley can't stop noticing Aubrey, even though there are a thousand reasons he shouldn't.
Aubrey and Wiley were super cute together. Their story ends in an HFN rather than an HEA, but hopefully we'll see more of them as the series progresses. The treasure map and mysterious inheritance left by Archie and Aubrey's Uncle Marvin was both fun and intriguing, and I look forward to learning more about that in future books as well. Finally, I loved Aubrey's teasing relationship with Archie, which reminded me a lot of me and my brother.
I'd recommend "Only a Summer" for all contemporary romance fans and look forward to finding out where the series goes from here.
Wiley and Aubrey have know each other for several years, but Aubrey was a 12 year old girl in Wiley’s memory and when Aubrey’s brother invites Wiley to bring his Half Cat brand to a resort he is rehabilitating, Wily is surprised to reacquaint himself with a very beautiful Aubrey. These two have sparks and the story is intriguing! I can’t wait for the Jasper Falls Series! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5.0 stars!
The Right Way to Heal a Broken Heart - When Wiley accepted his best friend Archie’s offer to stay with him whilst he got over his heartbreak, the last thing on his mind was entering into another relationship, but everything changed after he met Archie’s younger sister. Even though Aubrey felt a pull towards Wiley from the moment she laid eyes on him, she didn’t expect him to reciprocate her feelings, but fate had plans in store for them.
Wiley and Aubrey realised they couldn’t contain their feelings for each other and acted on it, which led to them embarking on a secret relationship. Unfortunately, they weren’t too careful were caught by Archie, who whilst he wasn’t thrilled, gave them his blessings for them to potentially work together towards a happy future. The story drew me in from the beginning and had me hooked, so that I found it difficult to take a break until I finished reading it. This author is new to me, but I was definitely impressed with her storytelling abilities.
I received a copy of this book free and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Welcome to Kasper Ridge! This novella prequel introduces us to a new series by Ms. Stewart. Archie Kasper inherits a rundown resort from his eccentric uncle. He and his sister, Aubrey, have determined to bring the resort back to a profitable enterprise. Looking to open the bar to bring in some cash flow, Archie contacts their childhood buddy, Wiley, who co-owns an Artisan distillery. Coming off the breakup of a long-term engagement, Wiley, decides to deliver his Half Cat whiskey in person. Aubrey, of course, is not the scrawny kid he remembered and their connection is immediate.
Add a treasure hunt to the expected romance, and you've got a draw-you-in adventure. Can't wait to see where this series goes.
Wiley has just broken up with Amber, he only stayed going out with her because of her family! Archie and his sister, Aubrey have inherited an inn from their uncle, but it's in a bad way, and apparently there is treasure hidden, if they can find it! Archie asks Wiley to come up with his family's whisky to sell in their bar. Wiley and Aubrey are immediately attracted to each other, both have grown a lot since they saw each other.
An interesting read from Delancey, looking forward to the next part
I LOVED this book! I cannot WAIT for the rest of the Kasper Ridge books!!! There's a treasure map and mystery from a late uncle left in a resort....and romance! Oh, and yurts. I had to google, because I knew they were tent-like, but these high-end yurts are something else! I think I need to stay in one.
The writing, character development, and world-building is excellent, as usual. Highly recommend. Great fun, light read.
This prequel is a fast and fun start to a new series set in Kasper Ridge, Colorado. It introduces us to Wiley, who is called by his old friend Archie, who has inherited a hotel/resort that has seen better days to help him out for awhile. What he didn't expect was Aubrey, Archie's younger sister, to "connect" with him so quickly. A bonus, right? The other bonus for readers is the mystery treasure hunt they have to solve. Fun start for sure!
This is a quick reading Prequel to the Kasper Ridge series.
Wiley and his fiancée have just broken up when an opportunity to help a former high school friend bring a formerly wonderful resort back to life. Aubrey is the younger sister who had a crush on Wiley when she was 12. She's all grown up now and sparks fly between her and Wiley.
Clearly, the story will continue.
I listened to the audio version. The narrators did a great job.
When his long-term girlfriend and fiancée tells him it's over, Wiley is actually relieved. When an old friend invites him to Colorado to help set up a bar in an old hotel he is opening, he jumps at the chance. Reunited with Archie, and Aubrey - who was only twelve when he last saw her - Wiley feels comfortable straight away. Aubrey is a strong and confident young woman, and Wiley is ready to move on from his past. A great prequel to this series.
This is a sweet uplifting well-written fun romance with some heartbreak and steam. I liked that Wiley was willing and in the right frame of mind to travel to a new adventure and leave a broken engagement behind. I loved that Aubrey and Wiley clicked so quickly and love the mystery they have to unravel with Archie. I love this author's work and can not wait to see where this series takes us.
This is the prequel to the series that I have already read. This is a well written short story with awesome characters. I would encourage everyone to start with this book and then read the rest of the series. This was a quick easy read for me. This one is worth your time. A start to a great series.
I really enjoyed this fun and fast paced little treat. This book introduces you to Kasper Ridge and gives you Aubrey and Wiley's story. The chemistry sparked, the story engaged and entertained, and the romance left me swooning. Can't wait to read more of this series.
This prequel novella is a great read and start to hopefully a great series by Delancey Stewart. Hopefully the treasure hunt idea will last for several books.
A very quick yet highly entertaining, laugh out loud and heartwarming journey filled with witty and engaging charters, fun twists and undeniable passion Exciting adventure from beginning to end and a great introduction to this new series.
A great start to a new series. Kasper Ridge seems like a wonderful small town to revive a rundown resort as well as chase a treasure at the same time. Love these characters. Delaney brought them all to life. I can't wait to learn more of their story.
Great prequel to the Kasper Ridge series. Wiley and Aubrey's relationship unfolds in this book as Aubrey's preteen crush on her brother's friend turns into more. I really loved how Ms. Stewart began the story with Wiley's motivation to take Asher up on his call to help out.
The first story was good, not much happened on the second story. Much more was needed to keep you interested. A small town vibe was building into something.
Only a Summer by Delancey Stewart – An old friend invites Wiley to the lodge he just inherited from his uncle, and he gets roped into more than he planned! Happy Reading!
This was a super cute, quick read and a fun prequel to Only a Fling. I had started OAF first and wondered if Aubrey + Wiley were getting a story and as it turned out, they already had theirs written! I felt like Delancey fit quite a bit into these 50 pages, including some great dirty talk and a spicy scene. A great start to the Kasper Ridge series.
