“You’ve been moping around long enough. Let me show you how these guys should be treating you.”
Bailey Davis does not have bad taste in men. She’s just had some relationships that haven’t worked out. That’s totally normal. And she now has one broken engagement. Big deal. And an ex-fiancé who cheated on her.
Okay maybe she has bad taste in men. At least the ones she plans to marry.
But when it comes to lusty crushes on ex-roommates and hot best friends? Oh, yeah, there she’s chosen very well.
Luke Hamilton is the whole package. Handsome, funny, charming, sexy, and beloved by the entire town.
And now he thinks he needs to help Bailey get out of her everything-sucks funk.
Well, crap. That’s a terrible idea, of course. A terrible, tempting, I-want-that-but-no-way idea. Because they’ll definitely end up sleeping together. Nothing gets a girl out of a funk faster than a really good…other F word. And she knows Luke is such a good friend that he’ll totally do her that “favor”.
But she is ready to move on. She has a job interview on Monday. In another state. She doesn’t need anything complicating that decision.
Still, when she walks into the New Orleans bar expecting a simple, platonic night out with a friend and finds Luke instead, she gives into the inevitable. A no holds barred wall banging-sheet ripping night. And another. And another.
But she is going to move on and make some good decisions for a change when the weekend is over. Even if that means leaving her heart behind with Luke when she goes.
Erin Nicholas is the New York Times bestselling author of over sixty sexy contemporary romances. Her stories have been described as toe-curling, enchanting, steamy and fun.
She lives in the Midwest with her husband who only wants to read the sex scenes in her books, her kids who will never read the sex scenes in her books, and family and friends who say they’re shocked by the sex scenes in her books (yeah, right!).
They have been flirting with, dreaming of and avoiding each other for years because deep down they knew it would only take one kiss....One kiss and their love, lust and passion explodes to never be denied again. Being Bad together is so very, very good for Luke and Bailey, their story is wild and crazy, but it is theirs and they will own it and embrace it and their amazing future together. This is an awesome friends to lovers romance, when it comes to being bad, they are one of the best couples so far. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
This was a quick read that was fun. I liked how both Luke and Bailey probably have had a crush on each other for years, yet didn't do anything about it. I'm glad that they finally acted and realized things. Their love of making up stories sure made for some great entertainment for them and for us.
3.5 stars I could have clicked the “contains spoilers” box but are there really any true spoilers in most contemporary romances where the happily ever after is guaranteed? So in the interest of fairness be warned I do pretty much give away most of the plot of this story in this review. Bad Taste in Men is the 4th book in Erin Nicholas’s Bad Boys of the Bayou series. I understand the reasoning but frankly I find the lack of linearity or connectivity between the plots maddening. In this book Jase and Pricilla the main protagonists from the first book make a brief return as a couple but Brooke and Nick from the second and Marc and Sabrina from the last book apparently aren’t yet couples. Bailey appeared in Marc and Sabrina's book as Sabrina's co-worker and the eventual manager of Bad Brews. As with the first book a lot of the characters in this series are loosely introduced as they attend an informal backyard barbecue at Jackson’s house. Beyond that most of them will never be heard from again other than in their own books. This is what happens when an author tries to turn a bunch of previously unrelated books into a series. Luke Hamilton has been perhaps the only secondary character to appear consistently in all three previous books. He’s a really good guy that is friends with just about everyone who along with his partner Randi runs Bad Brakes the auto repair shop he inherited from his father when he retired. He is also the adoptive brother and BFF of Marc the male protagonist of Bad Influence, who owns Bad Brews the local bar-restaurant where Bailey Davis works. Luke is one of those guys that is a fixer. He feels he has to solve everyone’s problems for them. So when his friend since elementary school Bailey Davis seems to be in a 3 month long funk after breaking her engagement with her cheating ex-fiancée, Luke feels its his job to get Bailey out of her funk. What Luke doesn’t know is that Bailey’s funk isn’t caused by her broken engagement. It’s because she’s had a near life-long crush on Luke and is contemplating leaving her family and friends in Bad La. behind to take a job in San Antonio to get away from Luke and hopefully get over him and start fresh. Luke doesn’t realize that Bailey’s bad taste in men is caused by her dating men who are similar to Luke in a lot of ways. Only despite the similarities they can never measure up to Luke. While Bailey readily admits (to herself at least) that she has been in love with the unobtainable Luke for years, Luke is just beginning to catch up and realize he might have a crush on Bailey. But Luke being your typical male romance protagonist is still pretty clueless and looking for reasons for feeling attracted to Bailey other than her possibly being the woman he’s been searching for who was right under his nose all the time and even lived with him in college. Bailey has already determined she needs to get away from Luke for her own sanity and long-term happiness (because she doesn’t see Luke thinking of her as anything more than a fling to help cheer her up) and isn’t interested in having a fling with him that will weaken her resolve to leave Bad. Until she is. When Luke surprisingly shows up in place of their friend Nolan to accompany Bailey to a wedding where she was supposed to be Nolan’s plus one Bailey decides to throw caution to the wind and have the one night of passionate love making with Luke she’s been fantasizing about for years. She leaves all of her inhibitions along with her clothes on the floor of her hotel room and she and Luke engage in a weekend of so much sex I’m not sure how she could walk. By the time their weekend love fest is over Bailey is sure no matter how far away she gets from Luke she’ll never be able to get over him. Luke is gob smacked to realize that he’s not only attracted to but has fallen in love with his long time friend Bailey. So of course he lets her get on her plane to San Antonio before he comes to his senses. As with the other stories in this series there's no epilogue, so once the professions of love are over, so is the story.
When a wedding weekend turns into a different love story...
Everybody in their friends group, well mostly everbody, figured Luke was madly crazy for Sabrina. Luke and Bri were always together. He's always been her hero and go to guy. Bailey and Luke have known each other since first grade. As long as hes also known Bri. But for Luke, Bailey is fun, smart, orhanized, quick witted, goes along with his crazy fake stories to strangers. Plays along with his jokes and friendly ribbing. Sabrina will always be his special friend with their childhood history and inside secrets. Luke just always felt like Bailey had bad taste in men, including her recent ex fiance who cheated on her. But at a friends group BBQ, he never expected their friends to point out Bailey's bad taste was probably due to HIM. Because the men she dates seem to be exactly like Luke. Now he's wondering why that is and how everybody else noticed but him??
Bailey knows why she needs a change. Shes stuck in the loop of Bad luck and bad choices. She also knows working at Marcs bar (Lukes brother) has just put her closer to every day being near Luke. She's had daydreams, fantasies, wondered what if?.. they have chemistry for sure. One spark from him and shed light his world on fire. But, he's too wound around Sabrina and being there for her. She's Been his #1concern since they were all kids. Bailey can't see a world where that changes so she decided to interview for jobs out of state to make a big change for herself. Bad is a small town and everyone her age she grew up with. they know too much about each other. Bailey and Luke have always had an easy banter and playful flirt spinning fake stories to tell strangers about adventures, celebrity hookups and more. Then at a weekend BBQ, Bailey reaches her breaking point of relationship talk. She's interviewing in San Antonio Monday, Nolan lives in San Antonio and they've known each other for years. He can help her get settled, stay with him til she finds a place to live. Then he invites her to a wedding weekend for a couple of his friends including his own ex fiance. So Bailey decides why not. Some fun, champagne, dancing with Nolan To make his ex jealous before she leaves Bad behind to move to Texas....where Nolan is. What she didn't count on was Nolan getting the flu and Luke stepping in for the wedding weekend.
What happens in those 48 hours is loaded with made-up stories, fun banter, lots of flirting and dirty talk with two old friends realizing that all that chemistry and years of bad dates, and one spark of a kiss that changed everything for Good. Or did it, because Luke still put her on the plane to Texas!
Luke Hamilton and Bailey Davis grew up in Bad, LA together. They were even platonic roommates in college. They have skillfully avoided each other, and their chemistry, for years. But now, as adults, now living in Bad, they are rediscovering their attraction. Luke is the town mechanic, owning Bad Brakes, and Bailey works at Bad Brews for Luke's best friend Marc. Bailey is known for her bad luck and choice in men. Luke is known for enjoying women throughout the region, but none for long. Now Luke and Bailey have discovered their chemistry ignited and that for two genial, easy going and quiet people they harbor hot and sexy emotions for each other. This is a sensual and passionate story. Well written and consumed by love, loyalty and hot blood, Erin Nicholas has created her sexiest Bad story yet.
Short sweet and didn't see these two getting together. I seriously did not expect Luke and Bailey to make a couple. Don't ask me why. I think I was thinking more on the lines of he and Randi or Regan. So I was surprised to say the least.
But I guess with their history and growing up together and roommates it made sense. Especially since from the beginning there was chemistry each tried to tamp down. Cute fast read. So now we have 4 more of their group to see who they end up with. OOOOOhhhhhhhh I can't wait
Not only was I ABSOLUTELY laughing out loud at this book, but I fell in love with this story just as quickly as the weekend it took the two of them to fall in love.
I was ENAMORED by their banter and their adorable games.
Erin wrote this one wonderfully, and I'm 100 percent obsessed with the incredible stories she tells, and am always itching for more. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I'm reading the whole series and really enjoying each one of the books, the couples... I've just been missing the continuity of the relationship between couples and friends as happens in other Erin Nicholas' series but I understand that the books were separate, individual and there was no such continuity before.
Luke and Bailey have been friends forever. They were college roommates who developed feelings for each. They never acted on it and when Bailey was in a funk because she broke up with her fiancé Luke make it his mission to fine the old Bailey. The things that happened weren’t expected but can help them realize they were meant for each other?
It's always fun to see a couple realize the person they have known forever is The One. This was a fun story and these two were really cute together as they figured that out. Highly recommended.
I was really looking forward to Luke's story in the the Bad Boys world and don't get me wrong, I loved the story. I just wish it was longer! There was so much left unexplored that I thought could have been touched on, but overall it was a quick read that had my attention the entire time.
Luke and Bailey have been good friends since 1st grade! They have a long history of being friends! But they have hot chemistry too! I highly recommend reading this book and series! I love this book! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Shenanigans ensue in the best way possible for Luke and Bailey (and because of Luke and Bailey ;) ). A short but completely awesome read and just another reason I Like going to Bad.
Good book, I like that it is a shorter book. One you can use to pass time in between things. I also like that it didn't take the entire book to get to the point and relationship.
Eh. It was cute. The one spicy scene was very hot. But it was a bit short which I didn’t love and there was no real conflict between our couple which I also didn’t love.
Oh I just loved Bailey and Luke’s story. It’s one of those books that you dive in head first and stay completely absorbed in until the very end. Bailey broke up with her cheating fiancée months ago and she’s decided to change her life by moving out of her small town of Bad, LA. Luke co-owns the auto shop in Bad and has been friends with Bailey since they were kids. Their HEA journey starts when Luke realizes he has feelings for Bailey just as she’s potentially leaving town and then there’s a fling weekend. The story included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. It was filled with all the sweet moments, painful pasts, steamy scenes, quirky townsfolk, supportive family and friends, small town goodness, character growth and missteps, fun, healing, and love. I am loving the Town of Bad and its people.

Bailey got out of a relationship a few months prior and is still in a funk. Luke is determined to be the one to help get her out of it in his words by fighting or fucking. And I think he accomplished both.
So when his friend Nolan gets sick, Luke fills in to be Bailey’s date. And they find there is still the easy friendship simmering with chemistry for more. And one kiss is all it takes. But Bailey has an amazing opportunity in Texas and Luke doesn’t want her to miss out.
Luke and Bailey get their happy ending in this stand-alone book in a series.
This book threw me for a timeline loop a bit as it seems to have taken place after book one and not after book three. Shouldn’t it be obvious that Luke wasn’t hung up on Sabrina as she was with his best friend? And how had they never acted on their chemistry before outside of one kiss? They were so explosive together!
I'm generous, giving it 3 stars. This book had less than 10 chapters but felt like a hundred. I could barely flip to the next page without sighing deeply and groaning. I felt like the book was sucking the energy right out of me. Bailey was a depiction of a pretty pathetic woman who has bad taste in men - because she went for the men who were "the next best thing" to the best friend she's been in love with for years. Her ex-boyfriends and fiance were chosen for resembling Luke in some way of life and in appearance. Then, after swearing she's moving away and not sleeping with Luke, she sleeps with him and basically asks him if she should stay for them!! The opposite of moving on. And after he fails that test - because of course he does - she's heartbroken. And Luke, we find out has always felt something for Bailey, now he wanted to sleep with her, and then he told her to go on her interview for work in another city, realizing ridiculously fast that he made a mistake... The whole book was eye-rolling absurd and I finished it for the sole reason that I had already begun and it was only a few chapters.
