She’s a small-town tomboy mechanic. He’s a big-city, suit-wearing nerd. Opposites not only attract…they combust.
Nolan Winters left his hometown after high school, wanting bigger things than Bad, Louisiana could offer. Years later, he’s a popular journalist, and a bestselling author, working on his second book—a biography about one of Louisiana’s most beloved football coaches, Bad’s very own Coach Karr. Now Nolan’s finding himself home a lot more often. For research. Yeah. That’s the story he’s sticking to. He’s not coming home for sexy, sweet local mechanic, Miranda Doyle. Nope. Not at all.
Randi’s a born-and-bred Bad girl, more than content to stay there forever. Football, steady work, family and friends…her small hometown has everything she needs. And lately, something she wants—Nolan Winters.
Never much of an athlete, Nolan asks football fanatic Randi for help on the ins and outs of the game for his new book. It isn’t long before Randi would rather help the hot nerd in and out of other things…like her bedroom, and definitely his clothes.
She’s a C-average ex-cheerleader. He’s an A-plus bookworm. Their differences could keep their engines running hot…or steer them straight toward a crash and burn.
Erin Nicholas is the New York Times bestselling author of over sixty sexy contemporary romances. Her stories have been described as toe-curling, enchanting, steamy and fun.
She lives in the Midwest with her husband who only wants to read the sex scenes in her books, her kids who will never read the sex scenes in her books, and family and friends who say they’re shocked by the sex scenes in her books (yeah, right!).
'The fifty is where anything can happen, things can go either way....
...and it's all about who wants it more. It's all about possibilities and desire at the fifty'
The best of the series, and whilst I am gutted it is the last of the series, it definitely finishes with a bang! I love that both Randi and Nolan are struck stupid by each other, their awkward, crazy conversations are hilarious and endearing, they manage to be sweet and sexy, weird yet perfect, geeky and sizzling hot...who knew newspaper print was such a turn on! They both have a way with words...and tequila, and I really love that their joint project reminds them both what they love most about Bad....the people. A sad (because it is the end of a series) but steamy read on Kindle Unlimited that will have you packing your bags and moving to Bad.
Got it Bad is the 8th and final book in Erin Nicholas Bad Boys of the Bayou series. You don't need to read any of the other books in this series to enjoy this one. Our female protagonist Miranda or “Randi” Doyle has been mentioned often in this series as a friend to the other characters but has never had much of a presence in their books. Nolan Winters presence has increased as the series moved towards his and Randi’s book. This is as the blurb says an opposites attract story between Nolan a college educated, successful journalist and author who was the school nerd and Randi a successful blue-collar auto repair shop owner who was captain of the cheerleading squad her junior and senior years, and sports junky with a wild streak. Nolan and Randi grew up together in the small Louisiana bayou town of Bad but they hung in different circles. Well while Randi had a large circle of friends she hung with, Nolan was friends with many of his classmates but really didn’t hang with anyone. He remained more of an outsider content to observe his classmates than join in with them. They were aware of each other more than they actually knew each other. Nolan especially was very aware of Randi but felt they had nothing in common and she was out of his league. It isn’t until ten years after high school graduation where this story begins that the two discover their mutual physical attraction. The question in this story that kept me reading is how will Randi, a blue collar country girl whose only disappointment in her life is that all of her friends are pairing off while she still hasn’t found a man she wants more than an occasional orgasm from going to form a lasting relationship with Nolan Winters who has been raised by his mother with the belief he needed to get out of Bad since he was a child? Nolan has become a successful journalist and author wants to give Randi his world. He wants to expand her horizons and give her options beyond Bad. Settling down in Bad isn’t in his plans. But is that what Randi wants? While Nolan’s friends and classmates were out playing football, drinking and generally raising the typical hell small town country kids do growing up, Nolan was busy studying and running his high school’s newspaper. His single mom who had always dreamed of seeing the world but couldn’t when she got pregnant young and then her husband, the father of her two children abandoned them, felt trapped in Bad. She always felt she had been meant for bigger things and resents living in Bad where she moved to when she married. So she continually drilled into Nolan that he needed to keep his head down and in the books to maximize his opportunities for getting free of Bad. Nolan did. He’s now a famously celebrated newspaper journalist and book author working out of San Antonio, often traveling the world to get a story. He’s back in Bad ostensibly to do more research for the book he’s writing on the town’s beloved retired football coach but in reality its to spend more time getting to know Randi with whom he shared a blistering drunken kiss months ago. Randi Doyle is a country boy’s wet dream. It’s worth noting that she’s the only female protagonist in this series that isn’t a college graduate. She’s blue collar through and through. She’s stunningly beautiful. She’s kind and thoughtful and a loyal friend. She learned about sex young and learned she really likes it and owns her sexuality. Anything a man can do, Randi can do as well or better. She’s the best auto mechanic on the bayou. She can out drink men twice her size. She can grill a steak as well as any man. She knows as much or more about football than any man in Bad. She can swear like a sailor and tell a dirty joke while under the hood or a truck or car at work and then clean up, dress up and be a perfect lady when she goes out. For as much sex as Randi has had since her older boyfriend cashed her V-card in middle school, at 28 years old, sadly until Nolan she has never had a man make love to her. Randi has always been aware of Nolan. Her problem is for all of Randi’s deserved confidence when she’s existing in her world, she’s an insecure fish out of water in Nolan’s presence. She was a C-student, he was an A+ student. She knows all about cars and sports but he knows all about politics and world affairs. For most of her life she’s been intimidated by her perceived lack of intelligence compared to Nolan to the point she can barely carry on a conversation with him without saying or doing something awkward. Until Nolan comes to her under the guise of needing help understanding football so he can finish his book on the coach. Recognizing her discomfort around him despite their chemistry he askes to come to Bad Brakes, the garage Randi co-owns to ask her questions about football and the high school team. The familiar surroundings and act of working on cars while they talk gives Randi a chance to relax and allow them both to get to know each other better. Things from that point progress at an incredibly fast pace for a romance or life. They go from having sex for the first time or times to saying I love you in a matter of a couple of weeks. But our couple still faces the problem of Nolan living and working in San Antonio while Randi lives happily in Bad where her business, family and friends are. She may not see much of the world but she’s content where she is. Because Nolan is a man which in contemporary romance means he’s prone to being a clueless idiot he makes resolving this issue a lot harder than it needed to be. I truly enjoyed this story. I liked the way Nolan helped Randi believe that she was more than she believed she was. I liked the way he didn’t hesitate to let Randi know how he felt about her. I liked how the author brought in so many of the previous characters to serve as supportive friends for both Randi and Nolan. I liked how her girls rallied around her. I thought there was more funny moments in this story than in most of the others in this series. And I enjoyed how comfortable Randi was expressing and enjoying her sexuality with Nolan. There is no epilogue in any of the books in this series. While I really enjoyed the final chapter in this story, as with the other books I was still left feeling like the end of the story was sort of abrupt
Who says the nerd and the cheerleading captain can’t have a great romantic relationship? Nolan and Randi prove how possible it is.
Nolan is back in Bad to write a book about Coach Karr and small-town football. Or so he claims. He’s also in town to see Miranda, or Randi as she’s known to her friends. And he wants to be more than just friends with her, especially after their kiss last fall.
But along the way, Nolan falls back in love with Bad too, after being gone for a decade. And Randi makes it so easy to want to stay, even though his mom has always pushed for him to leave. So when his agent and editor hate what he did with the book, he secludes himself in San Antonio away from it all and Randi.
Randi and Nolan get their happy ending in this stand-alone book in a series.
Nolan was such a sweet guy and I loved how much he wanted to hear these stories and not just to get on Randi’s good side. And these friendships in Bad are so much fun to see how they work together and how they support one another through everything. It really makes me want to join their circle of friends!
I can’t believe this series is over! And I want so much more now. How are these couples doing after five years? What types of changes are happening in Bad? How do their children get along with the Landry children or are they rivals already?
Was looking for some shorter books around 200 pages and came across recommendations by Erin Nicholas. It's my first time reading anything by her, but this was a good book. Exactly what I was looking for. Nolan and Miranda (Randi) were spicy and flirty and fun. I love that they were from a town called Bad. The town had fun naming their businesses in cooperating Bad into the names of them and it gave me a little laugh. It was a fun change to see the guy be more of a "nerd" and the girl be more of a "bad girl" instead of the other way around for a change. However, I didn't really feel the nerd and bad girl vibe from either of them. Randi came off more as just a confident female in who she was and what she enjoyed rather than a "bad girl." Nolan didn't come off as a nerd and more of just a nice, friendly writer. Cute book! I will most likely be checking out more books by this author. The spice was there too!
Nolan Winters is a renown writer. Miranda Doyle is the best mechanic in her home parish. They both grew up in Bad, Louisiana. They were acquaintances in high school, but never close. He was the brilliant nerd. She was the popular head cheerleader. But, ten years later, he returns to Bad to write a book about Bad's long term, and iconic, football coach. She is the font of football detail Nolan says he needs to complete his book. Their reconnection is sexy, touching and heartfelt. What seems like an opposites attract trope is really a beautiful second chance at love. The heartwarming conclusion brought tears to my eyes and the perfect ending to this series.
I absolutely loved Nolan and Randi's book. Sweet and spicey at the same time. Who says Nerds aren't sexy. I loved that they had crushes on each other in high school and neither knew. I loved it more that they fell in love as adults. I loved it that Nolan stepped out of his comfort zone and went after what he always wanted. I loved that Randi won over Nolan's Mom in a big way. So basically I loved loved loved this book.
Nolan and Randi are opposites until they start listening with their bodies instead of their words
I liked how the couples biggest adversary stops talking and begins to listen when it matters most, coming from someone that could have ripped her emotionally to shreds. Well done series.
This last book in this part of the series tied all the characters together and showed different didn't mean excluded. Nolan and Randi were opposites in many ways but realized they had the most important thing in common --love for each other and for their friends. Highly recommended.
A perfect end to this wonderful series. Enjoyed all of the books but for some reason this was my favorite. Maybe it was because the town was so much a part of the story. The characters were easy to love, and easy to root for.
It was an ok book. This one took me a bit to read. It didn't keep my interest as the other did. I was disappointed with how this book and series ended. Always wanting more even though you know that you will never get more.
Ok I now need my husband to do Tequila with me 😍 I loved Nolan & Randi’s story. The friends the mom even ( after Randi made her see the light) this was such an awesome series I didn’t want it to end! I need on3 long epilogue with everyone in it
Saved the best for last! I adored this story, and the ending could not have been more perfect! Now I want to see more of these characters in other books!!
