A horrific attack on a crowd ends with tens of thousands dead before Loren Parker wakes up in his bed, miraculously unharmed, two days before the explosion. Setalite City is on the brink of destruction, famous heroes and infamous villains are being systematically killed worldwide, and an unknown puppet master is pulling the strings. Lucky for him, Loren has all the time in the world to set things straight.
Superhero time loop is one of my favorite tropes, and I make a big effort to find almost anything of the style (there's really not much). Color me surprised when I discovered this yesterday based on a recommendation online, and it's a true gem. Adding this review/recommendation for two reasons: 1. It's a great story, with good prose, fun quips and banter, and great action. You should read it. I mean the stars I gave. 2. Amazon unfairly stuck it in a black hole. It won't come up in searches no matter how hard you try. Maybe by author/name. But not by plot. Hopefully this helps a little!
Interesting read with a fun added twist to the usual time loop story and great world building that reminds me of Worm in the best kind of way.
I was a bit frustrated at times because the main character seems unable to ask simple follow up questions of the people around him which leaves some mysteries feeling unnecessarily drawn out.
Still overall enjoyable and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
A more interesting and well-thought exploration of a superhero story than you'd think from the synopsis or the cover art. Our MC is both competent and and has believable reactions to the tragedy he's living through, while suffering from some sort of past trauma. Intrigued and will continue to read the series.
Very solid series start to finish. The MC felt real and the emotional arc was really satisfying to read rather than the usual time loop protagonists that are numb to everything. Would recommend checking it out if you’re on the fence.
