Un singolo capitolo di Sangue e cenere ri-scritto e raccontato da Hawk, invece che dal punto di vista di Poppy: godibile e carino, anche se non apporta niente di nuovo alla storia.

I pov maschili sono sempre un gran piacere per le lettrici di romance, non c'è nulla da fare. Molto interessante il fatto che leggendo la novella mi è sembrato di essere davvero nella testa di un altro personaggio, cosa non scontata perché spesso - per gli autori poco esperti - i pov non hanno caratteristiche che differenziano i narratori e non c'è un vero cambio narrativo se non il cambio di genere delle parole.
Una delle cose più scontate che credevo avrei visto era come tutto fosse stato organizzato Altra cosa, perché lui ha scelto di lasciarla andare.
Poi devo capire il potere di questi cappucci che sfidano la logica. Come può Hawke non aver visto il volto di Poppy se primo, lei vedeva il suo viso; secondo, si sono stesi sul letto? No, ha dovuto abbassarlo per vederla. C'è qualcosa che mi sfugge. Qualquadra non cosa.
Detto ciò, di base la novella mi è piaciuta (amo i pov maschili e la mia parte romance ha il cuore debole) e avrei voluto conoscere molti altri pensieri di Hawke del primo volume (tipo quando ha capito di aver perso la testa per Poppy, noi lettrici romance smaniamo per la consapevolezza sentimentale dei maschietti), ma non ho potuto non rendermi conto che l'autrice ha pensato al punto di vista di Hawke soltanto in un secondo momento. Dialoghi (obbligati dal primo volume) e pensieri quando i due s'incontrano solo slegati, viaggiano spesso su binari diversi, facendo risultare l'adattamento molto forzato. E mi era anche sfuggita la battuta sul "dovresti alzarti" - in tutta onestà, stavo meglio prima di tanta finezza.
Comunque, ho capito che non devo farmi domande inutili (cosa impossibile, ma ci provo). Quindi, okay. Andiamo avanti!

In attesa di fiondarmi sul secondo, attesissimo volume della serie Blood and Ash, finito in modo clamoroso mi sono letta questa piccola chicca offerta dalla casa editrice.
In questo breve racconto finalmente abbiamo il POV di Hawke, il nostro bel principe. La scena alla Perla Rossa è esattamente quella del primo libro, con gli stessi dialoghi, in più abbiamo solo i pensieri di Hawke. Capiamo la sua determinazione nel voler salvare il fratello e la propria gente e come il tutto passi attraverso la Prescelta. Proprio colei che entra di soppiatto nella stanza di Hawke.
Vediamo come il bel principe rimanga subito colpito dalla ragazza, ne sia affascinato e intrigato.
L'unica cosa che mi sfugge è quel benedetto cappuccio. Io non ho capito come caspita funziona! Le copre il viso in modo che lui non vede niente, quindi lo ha fino al naso? E come vede dove andare? Forse è uno di quelli con due buchi per gli occhi?

Hace un tiempo lei esta escena extra pero como suele hacer GR en ocasiones, elimino el libro y por cosiguiente las reseñas, por eso decidi hacer una relectura.
Esta escena es mucho mas interesante y necesaria de lo que pueda parecer, creo que capta muy bien la dinamica que va a haber posteriormente entre Poppy y Cas, ademas, es divertida y esta llena de tension, me gusto mucho.
Ahora si que creo que llego la hora de leer The War Of Two Queens, espero que mi bloqueo lector me deje disfrutarlo como deseo.

"I'd seen her smile a few times. I'd heard her speak even less, but I knew that mouth. It was who I'd just sat in this very room and discussed. It was her. The Maiden. The Chosen. The Queen's favorite."

Her lips curved and then flatten. "You shouldn't call me that."
"Then what should I call you? A name, perhaps?"
"I'm... I'm no one," she replied.
"No one? What a strange name. Do girls with a name like that often make a habit of wearing other people's clothing?"

"I'll tell you who I am, although I have a feeling you already know. I'm Hawke Flynn."
She was quiet for a moment and then squeaked out, "Hi."
That... that was cute.
I grinned. "This is the part where you tell me your name." When she said nothing, my interest only grew. It wasn't like I expected her to admit who she was, but I was dying to discover what she would share. "Then I'll have to keep calling you Princess. The least you can do is tell me why you didn't stop me."

Che dire: amo quando ci sono entrambi i punti di vista dei personaggi perché ti fanno vedere come una determinata cosa/situazione venga percepita in modi completamente differenti. È una cosa stranissima, devastante e bellissima. E questo libricino ne è la prova. Una vera chicca: breve ma intenso ❤️🗡

Con il preordine del secondo volume della serie fantasy Blood and Ash di Jennifer L. Armentrut c’era in regalo questa piccola chicca librosa. La Perla rossa, libricino di poche pagine, svela i pensieri di Hawke nel momento in cui incontra per la prima volta Poppy. Il tutto avvine proprio nella taverna denominata Perla Rossa.
La novella non aggiunge granché a quello che già sapevamo del loro primo incontro, ma riusciamo a comprendere cosa ha provato il protagonista maschile. Tuttavia non scavo a fondo nella sua psiche come mi auguravo. Aggiunge solo qualche piccolo dettaglio di cui eravamo già a conoscenza attraverso la lettura di Sangue e Cenere. Comunque sia è stata utile per rinfrescarmi un po' la memoria sugli Ascesi, i Caduti, gli Altantiani e i Craven e, soprattutto, sul world building della storia principale.
La novella non aggiunge granché a quello che già sapevamo del loro primo incontro, ma riusciamo a comprendere cosa ha provato il protagonista maschile. This was a much needed scenario. I've always wondered what was going in Hawke's head when he met Poppy for the first time. I was curious how much of her he recognized and how long he pretended otherwise. At some point, it did feel like Poppy's feelings for him outweighed his; after reading this little snippet from Hwake's point of view, that doesn't seem like the case. He was definitely more than infatuated, so Poppy can hardly be blamed for her stupid actions alone. I need more of his pov, especially of the night Poppy sneaked out to the rise to fight the craven and they had a moment in the hallway after catching her and unraveling her identity.
