If you’re ready to change your relationship with money and start building serious wealth, More Money Now will show you how.” — Jeremy Schneider , retired at 36, founder of Personal Finance Club #1 New Release in Budgeting and Financial Risk Management Nicole Newell is a CEO, money coach, and financial literacy advocate. She didn’t grow up with wealth. But she learned the secrets to financial freedom and now specializes in helping 20 and 30 something women effortlessly manage their money and build bank accounts that never stop growing. Money isn’t everything, but everything takes money. Maybe you have debt (hellooo student loans + credit cards). You feel like you’ll always be playing catch up. Maybe you’ve tried to get help before, tried to budget, followed traditional advice… but it just doesn’t work for you. You’re stressed and overwhelmed, feeling stuck because you don’t know where things went wrong. The bad news first. The advice that worked for our parents doesn’t work for us. Times have changed. The average person in their 20s has racked up $23,872 in debt, and this number jumps to $62,658 in their 30s. And it gets Now, the good news. Maybe for you, money has always seemed complicated. Maybe you believe that because you’re not good with math, you couldn’t be good with money. But, to be good with money and build wealth, you don’t need to be good at math, you don’t need to be born rich, and you don’t need a 6 figure salary. Learn the money management rules that enabled Nicole If you’ve read books like Financial Feminist , Broke Millennial , or My Money My Way , then you’ll want to read More Money Now .
(2.5) This book is a great book if you’re just starting out with figuring out your finances and want to learn how to manage your money better. If you don’t fall into that category it’s kind of meh.
First of all I know the book isn’t entirely about investing but to not talk about it until page 184 and to spend just one chapter on it felt like an oversight. She also writes very basically and does a lot of “fun” writing like “let’s freaking go!” Which just isn’t my style, I think I might just be a wet blanket but some of the drier finance books I’ve read I’ve enjoyed the writing style far more compared to this. It’s an introductory book so I’m trying not to go too hard on the criticism here because I think she does write in an accesible way about money which is great.
Her definitions for some of the confusing jargon around investing I also thought was great. She really breaks it down in a way that is digestible. She also talks a lot about the emotional aspect of how people manage their money which doesn’t show up as much in some other finance books which I thought was great to highlight. A lot of these books talk about emotional investors but not so much on emotional money management which I know there a ton of people who would benefit from her stance on it.
If you’re starting out on your financial journey this book would be great. But if you’ve already got a pretty good handle and just want to improve I’d say Girls that invest and then Simple Path to Wealth is a much better option.
I liked how this book puts everything into simple terms and it was easy to understand. I'd highly recommended this book for someone who doesn't have their finances in order, it's never too late to start saving for retirement or goals such as travel! There's a lot of references to outside sources, it's all neatly labeled. Very easy read, finished it in a day!
Wow.. I feel like I understand money and finance and investing so much better. I feel like I can start taking advantage of these things with confidence. I loved this, I follow Nicole on Tiktok and she gives the best advice.
The author didn’t come from a wealthy family, but a wealthy family DID came from her. I was fascinated how the author got herself out of debt and become the millionaire she is today. That was the leading reason for me to start the book.
For people raised in a lower to middle class childhood- the emphasizing in the book of money related factors absorbed by the not yet developed brain of the child, leaving a permanent struggle with money- is a excellent way to introduce the topics, in a relatable way. I love even more that she indetifies the traditional advice they give about life, actually is the debt trap many fall for.
Overall I would definitely recommend the book! It is a true helping hand when it comes to personal finance. Besides the abundance of financial information, she gives helpful examples.
The book has three major principle standing out for financial freedom: •invest, invest, invest… •get a growth mindset / ‘correct’ money mindset •personal finance is not hard at all!
And how not to make you rich: •budgetting (Although I find a budget helpful at time, I get where she is coming from) •stop productbuying to fill a void, seek happines or maintain your popularity. (Find the reason for the void you are trying to fill, and tackle the problem, instead of treating the symptoms)
My favorite lines:
‘’because when you always owe money, when you’ve already spent tomorrow’s dollar, you must always work.’’
“investing isn’t for the rich, but how you become rich.”
helped me with overconsumption and i liked the tips but the investing knowledge is too basic for my current status - would be a better read if you are new to investing and looking for some overconsumption tips
I never thought that I could be so gripped by a book on personal finance! I would highly recommend this book to anyone just starting out or wanting to learn more about personal finance. This book does an amazing job of covering many aspects of personal finance (emotional, logistical, historical, etc.) in a way that is easy to understand and thorough without overwhelming the reader. This book is a quick read, but with an abundance of helpful information that I'm sure I will come back to for years to come when making financial decisions. For her first book, Nicole Victoria hit this one out of the park!
As someone who was already following Nicole online and enjoys her content, it was nice to get all of her philosophies and insights in one place! I personally enjoy her "no BS, tell it how it is" approach, but keep in mind this is definitely not a stuffy personal finance book. Filled with great anecdotes and (my favorite) ALL THE MATH to back up the strategies she's talking about. While nothing here is super novel, I gained a lot of great insights, particularly around home buying, how to build a strategy that works for you (because personal finance is personal), and the impact of interest rates.
The author of this book does an excellent job at not only explaining personal finance but the psychology behind it. She goes into detail but in a fun and simple way that makes it easy to comprehend and apply to each individual readers life. I learned a lot from what she wrote and I highly recommend this book for anyone who feels lost/overwhelmed in the world of personal finance. Also, follow her on social media if that’s something that interests you. She’s extremely active on all social media accounts and is always posting extremely motivating content.
I’ve read many money books before and this book I believe everyone should read, it taught me so much. Concerning mindset around money, different investment accounts, retirement, all the renting vs. buying a home questions, the difference between all types of investments and what they do and what their best for for each individual!! And Nicole really breaks it down in a simplified way and provides great examples:)
I think there is a decent amount of fluff. Good for people just getting into addressing their pre-existing notions about money though. I think if you are new to finance, you should read this book to understand your "why's" and your behavioral patterns around money. Other than that, there are more data driven finance books I preferred.
Some very similar advice as a few other books. Definitely solidifies the advice. She does explain a few things further in a break down or scenarios. Pretty much just about investing today and making moves to invest today. Not sure why it’s titled More Money Now, as it is later that you will get the money, but you need to act now.
Read for educational and personal reasons. Was an easy read and focused on your relationship and perceptions about money rather than financial strategies.
