Jonathan Schrock is the Lapp family's loyal farm hand. He enjoys his life in Faith's Creek and wooing Nancy Zook. But tragedy strikes leaving Jonathan blind. While Jonathan aches to have Nancy at his side she is hesitant, surely she wouldn’t leave Jonathan in his hour of need.
Rachel takes care of Jonathan but as they grow closer, she begins feeling guilty because she's enjoying having him to herself and knows that it wouldn't be happening if he wasn't now blind.
Feelings come to light, arguments are had, and disaster strikes once again. Will they all survive to mend fences and possibly hearts or will their chance at love be lost forever?
Sweet story about an Rachael an Amish woman who loves a boy named Jonathan but he loves another. Her dad is in a wheelchair and she knows her future is bleak. Then there's an accident.
Recovering the Light is an excellent story written by Sarah Miller and Irene Glick. The characters are amazing and give this story life. There is devastation, loss, love, and forgiveness within this story. Rachael already deals with her father that is paralyzed and in a wheelchair and then tragedy strikes their farmhand in a terrible storm. Waking from his accident and discovering he is now blind sets Rachael in care giving mode. Secretly loving Johnathon makes this easy for her but the road is filled with twist and turns. I enjoyed this story but wished for more involving the conclusion.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with four stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.
Nice Amish romance. I have some experience with people who are visually impaired, and I have to say Rachel and Jonathan’s responses to his blindness are fairly realistic for people who have no experience with blindness. There are resources out there to help people adjust to blindness, and I kind of wish that the Amish response to such resources (which are probably not Amish) would have been interesting to include. However, that would have been difficult with such a short book. I enjoyed it as a quick read.
A good Amish story about love and perseverance Rachel loved Jonathan but he was seeing another until an accident and Rachel took care of him He is blind but she still stood by his side
This was a good romance novel. The accidents and the injuries were well written. The person taking care of injured was so thoughtful. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.
All things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose!!! Tragedy turns to good even when it seems impossible. True Love Conquers all 😊
As I read the book I felt that I was right there with them, through the ups and downs, hope and disappointments I felt and continue to feel like it is still going on and I am taking part in this event. God blessings on you all.
