Quinn: I moved to escape my past, and give my daughter and I a fresh start. Now, I’m a respected Social Worker for a private VA clinic, and I devote my time to helping veterans find their way in civilian life. I have no time for relationships, and to be honest, I’m too shy to attempt it. But then he keeps getting thrown in my path. Shadow, the Enforcer for the Devil’s Soldiers MC. A man that is making me question what I want, and also pulling at my heart with every piece of himself he gives me. But I know he’s hiding something from me. Will I be able to handle it when it comes to light? Or will it shatter us both?
Shadow: I fought hard for my country. I lost my team, and when I left the Special Forces, a new one found me. The Devil’s Soldiers MC helped me get to a place that I could finally live. Our club is still being threatened because someone wants to destroy us, and I will not let that happen. Except, I wasn’t expecting her. Quinn Holt is everything I want for myself, but know I shouldn’t have. My own family. Still, I can’t stay away from her, even when I should be focusing on our mole problem. But I have secrets, and the past is about to come full circle in a way I never expected and it might drive her away. Our mole won’t rest until he breaks our club apart, and they don’t care if she’s in the way. I will do anything to keep her and her little girl safe. Because after all these years, they’re my reward and no one will take them away from me.
This is a standalone story, but the storyline continues throughout the books, so it is strongly recommended that you start at the beginning if you want to keep up to date.
I live in New Brunswick, Canada with my husband and our two dogs, Remi and Sako (pronounced Say-co). When I’m not writing, I’m playing fetch with the dogs, talking to my parents for endless amounts of hours, annoying the crap out of my husband, or just enjoying life with my friends. Writing has been a part of my life since I was about 12. I started out just writing short stories or silly knock-offs of my favorite shows or movies. Soon, though, I realized just how much I loved to write. How often my mind would wander and think of characters and where they could go. They became real to me, and I would start to write. I used to fill up notebooks and pads of paper when I got an idea. It would be an obsession, almost, to get on paper. Then, when I was old enough to have a computer, I started there. Now, I’m 28 years old and I finally hit that button. The one that I’ve thought about it over and over again for the past 16 years. There is no greater joy, or fear, at realizing you’ve just accomplished something that you’ve wanted to do for so very long. That is my greatest accomplishment and I look forward to hitting that button on many more.
i was hesitant to continue this one after the reveal that the FMC looked exactly like the MMC’s dead friend for whom he cared deeply and lusted (i absolutely hate that). nevertheless, i soldiered on. the MMC talked about his previous love interest at length in every single one of his chapters. after reading his memories of how beautiful she was and how he’d “never wanted her more” in chapter 18, i called it quits. as i have no real interest in ever reading a MMC’s meandering thoughts on their dead love interest, this book was not for me.
I know I have said this every review but! I am so in love with this series. I love that the coven is going strong and growing in numbers, haha.
Shadow has always been one that I hoped got his HEA, and I am so glad that he did, and with someone as sweet as Quinn. And oh my goodness, Macy, her Iittle one had me in stitches! Emily wrote Macy perfectly, right down to the awkward questions that children ask!
This book was filled with so much action and drama I was on the edge of my seat! I was suspicious of EVERYONE. Like when I tell you I thought everyone was the mole, I was trying to find reasons why it was who I was thinking.
I also love that we see so much of Bullet and Rose as well as all the other couples and the rest of the brothers! I am super excited for the next one! If you have this series on your tbr, read it! Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
As someone who had read some MC adjacent books and enjoyed them, I had some high hopes for this one, but it just did not work for me. There was a lot of characters (expected) but it was hard to keep everyone straight, which was more annoying. I'm sure if I read some of the other books in the series it could have helped. But my biggest issue was the POV chapters from the Mole within the club was awkward and cringey. It read ad a must he twirling villain, zero actual threat but all the pomp. It didn't match the vibe of the rest of the story.
There is a lot going on in this one. First off we have Shadow and his struggle with the past. So much about it makes you feel for him. Then we have the prospects, one new one, who looks like he will fit right in, 2 good ones, who really go through the wringer in this one, and 3 worthless ones that get shown the door. Next up is Quinn and Macy, who both are so dang cute, but Macy worries me a bit. Shadow called it when he said she would fit in with the coven he runs the bail fund for, her only saving grace is she's 5 and can't get in too much trouble, but whoa man...the world needs to watch out for her as she grows up! Then there is the mole and the Russian mob. Both of them were playing games of cat and mouse and sadly they were winning this round, until almost the end. My guess on the mole was right, they were dealt with, but not bad enough. The mob has been blocked for now, but you can tell they will be back with a vengeance. The MC needs a bit of peace, too many people were hurt this round, they need time to get better and to just be happy for a bit.
One thing that helped bring the happy was Quinn's family, who all are bit too like the coven with their shenanigans. From what went on at the airport alone, you get a great idea of their brand of fun. Put them with Rose, Sage, Raven, Lenora and Alice and the whole town needs to duck for cover! I don't know that even the Lincoln billons could cover the bail needed for them!
Best of the series so far. Was actually a decent book. MC’s had depth, growth and chemistry. Definitely could have been a shorter book though (anything past 350pages for me and it better be a damn good book) . We find out who the mole was (thank god because I feel like if it was dragged out another book it would be too much). Out of all the characters so far these two are the most real and likable ones IMO (with the exception of Macy letting Shadow play with her daughter in a room alone after barely knowing him. A mother would NEVER).
Let's just start of with saying that we all need a Macy in our lives! The Devil's Reward is the third book within the Devil's Soldiers MC Series and can be read alone but definitely is better when books one and two are read as well.
This story follows Shadow and Quinn along with her witty daughter, Macy. Quinn is a social worker that works with retired veterans and helps them in unexpected ways. She was married to someone who was a veteran too, his character however is just awful. From that marriage comes, Macy. This little girl is just the best character in this book.
Shadow is a retired veteran that has dealt with his trauma and is part of the MC club. Fate kind of just throws these main characters into each other's lives by means of him looking for new prospects and him finding his friend, Crypt, who is working with Quinn. Their story feels realistic and Quinn is a super mom that does and would do anything to keep Macy safe, happy and well.
Without spoiling too much of the story and plot, just know that the mole is found along with a whole bunch of other drama. The MC coven (Rose and her girls...) are growing and all the characters have some sort of development as the series progresses on.
I would like to thank the author, Emily Rose, for the Advanced Reader Copy, it is greatly appreciated. This book is expected to release on the 22nd of November. Coming next in this series is The Devil's Temptation which is expected to release in 2023.
Oh my god that chapter at the airport had me crying so hard from laughing. That was the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time! Okay okay now back to the book. Shadow and Quinn’s story was so fun yet so intense too. I loved when Quinn opened up to Shadow more and we saw her shy side fall away and seeing Shadow just so enthralled with her was sweet too. And you can’t forget Macy. She was my favorite of the whole book with her killer one liners and how she had everyone wrapped around her finger big time!
I also enjoyed the plot that carried through the first few books with the mole and the Russians. Having the Mike’s chapters spread out in there made it more do a mystery that you want to solve as the MC tries to figure it out. What a wild ride this crew has taken us on over these three books so far!
Quinn is a single mom to the most adorable little girl. She is a social worker who specializes in helping veterans, she is shy and focused on providing for her daughter. Shadow is dedicated to his club and putting a stop to the problem his MC is currently facing. Quinn and her daughter Macy are everything he wants.
There is a lot of story and I don't want to give anything away. I loved the romance between Quinn and Shadow. Shadow is everything, he's protective and can be gruff with a soft side. His story of healing was beautiful and well-written.
There are a lot of characters, for someone trying to figure out the mystery it was hard for me to keep up with the suspects. I never saw the twist coming.
This book is packed full of action, romance, suspense, banter, and humor. I laughed so much!
This is the 4th installment in the Devil's Soldier's MC. Shadow and Quinn's story can be read as a standalone, but the MC storyline is continued from the previous books. For anyone who has been reading the series, this is a MUST-read!!
*I voluntarily received an Arc for a honest review*
I can honestly say that Emily rose has made it even harder for me to pick a favourite book ,This is the third book in this series but can be read as a stand alone but works better if you start with book 1, This is Shadows story and I can't tell you how excited I was to read it ,it didn't disappoint
Shadow has always been a man with few words but always there protecting he's Mc brothers and now the women in his club and there friend's , When shadow meets Quinn and her 5 year old daughter macy he feels out of sorts and undeserving of any good in he's life as he has he's demons from his time at war to fight,But when he finally gets the nerve to ask her on a date things don't go exactly to plan, but Quinn sees the man beneath the ruff exterior and decides he's worth fighting for
When things turn deadly and his Mc family are at risk he will stop at nothing to figure out who it is and send them were they belong straight to hell,
This book has everything you could want with twists and turns and laugh out loud moments ,you will be on the edge of your seat to find out who the mole is and if they will stop the mafia, A must read ....
Since reading Ms. Rose's Fire & Ice series I have needed Shadow's story, as well as others, who have wanted it to. Some of us begged for his story and I am so glad we got it. You do not have to read that series but you do need to read this series from the beginning so you have an idea of what's going on. Without giving anything away know that Ms. Rose leads you in a direction only to do a u-turn on you leaving you speechless. This book made me feel things and Im in love with both characters, Shadow and Quinn. Shadow demons hurt me but him focusing on his mental health put a smile on my face. This man has had my heart since the beginning. Quinn was enchanting and one hell of a mom. Macy gave her mom a run for her mother and I adored that little girl. This couple was everything I needed and I fell in love with them. This truly was my favorite in this series.
I was in the mood for single parent and after seeing a reel about the supermarket scene and Quinn's conniving sweet daughter I HAD to read it. I loved how the whole meeting was set up espcially after their conversing but not having seen each other yet. I loved the feelings, emotions and everything this book had. Shadow was tortured especially because of his past but totally gone for Quinn and everyone could see that. However I didn't like him witholding the truth about Sam and everything and when it came out and everything blew up, he totally deserved it. But I'll admit him freaking out and saving her due to the whole plotline and drama was enough paybck. Macy was adorable but sassy and I loved her scenes as well. They were hilarious. Especially regarding Shadow. I also loved the MC and Coven dynamics and moments and family feels.
OMG. If you have been reading this series like me, you are in for a real surprise and treat with this newest book in the series. I absolutely love Quinn and Shadow. Shadow actually just moved up to the top of my list as favorite. Not that I don't still have love for all of the other men. In fact, this series gives me Sons of Anarchy vibes. This book hit me hard in all the right ways. The Devil's Reward is the biggest book in this series by far but so worth it. In fact, you will hardly notice as you speed read this book.
Quinn started out self-doubting herself and her worth but by the end of the book, she was a fighter. Macy, Quinn's daughter stole every scene that she was in. I could not stop laughing at the comments that would come out of her mouth. Shadow needed healing as well. He found it in Quinn and her daughter. There were many hot moments to be had between Quinn and Shadow.
Be prepared to lose track of time reading The Devil's Reward by Emily Rose!
Shadow has been watching the members of his club, he is trying to get closer to the mole that is setting up his club. When he meets Quinn Holt who works for a private VA clinic, he is intrigued. Shadow should be focusing on his club but when Quinn continues to be in his path along with her adorable daughter Macy, he knows he is not going to miss his chance. He will juggle what needs to be done as well as keep Macy and Quinn safe and protected. Will Shadow find the mole in time to protect everyone including his club?
One of my favorites so far. Macy is an absolute hoot. I thought Quinn and Shadow were terrific together. I had been anxious to see where this story would lead, and this book did not disappoint. This series continues to get better and better.
I’ve come to realize with this series to expect things to move quickly, in regards to the romance. It takes a little bit for them to get together but once they’re in they’re all in. Hard and fast. Hehe see what I did there 👀😆
Shadow and Quinn had sweet chemistry, slow but delicious 🔥
The mystery, on the other hand, took far longer to progress I was genuinely worried we where going to get another cliffhanger with the mole still not being discovered but fortunately that wasn’t the case.
I’m happy that conflict was resolved, which leaves me wondering what the ongoing conflict will be for the next two books. Surely they’re not going to have another mole, right? 😅
I read an ARC of this book just finished what can I say , dont want to give details away. The plot of this book is amazing loads of twists an turns that will keep you reading some hysterical funny bits to break the tension loved Shadows story an many others that we know an love are in it so whats not to love ❤
This book was so good we finally got to know who the mole was after all this time I like that he wome are all a little crazy and I love that about this series but I don't ik there problems are over just yet I have that feeling but this series I highly recommend it
I’ve loved every book in this series and while it is hard to pick a favorite, this one might have taken the spot. Loved the chemistry and the action. Relieved that some problems have been resolved and excited to see what’s next!
4.5⭐ Solid characters and plotline. The relationships felt natural and the storyline flowed without a hitch. Good pace and the changing POVs offered the much needed perspective. Little Macy was absolute gold.
2.5 stars- This book seemed to take me a longggg time to get into. Not having read any of the others in the series, I think this may have made this a bit more boring than if I had read the other two in the series. Quinn and Shadow are very sweet together as well as Quinn’s daughter Macy who definitely stole the story at times! The chemistry between them is really great but I do feel like the story dragged in places but then the conflict was over before it had even begun.
NOTE - Each couple in the first three books are stand-alone, but to enjoy the great suspense element, I recommend you read the first two as well!
The Devil's Soldiers has been one major roller coaster of a ride so far, and boy Emily Rose did not disappoint in the third instalment, once again the romance element was spot on, the suspense element ramped up a gear, and perfectly played out in The Devil's Reward. Shadow, Quinn and let's not forget sassy Macy, (please please let her get her own story when she grows up), who believe me, at 5 years old and is Quinn's daughter steals the limelight in the light-hearted moments that are expertly dotted through the story just ensured that once again this author delivered a perfect 5* rating.
I loved that once again we get POVs from the Mole, and boy did I not see that coming when it is revealed who it is, and also, Dmitri, what a nasty piece of work he was. The pressure is ramping up to find out who the mole is, the suspense had me on the edge of my seat as I turned each page trying to figure it out, and in the midst of all that, Shadow keeps bumping into Quinn a social worker at the VA, the attraction is instant, but Quinn has her daughter to think about even though Macy is already falling in love with Shadow, but he is hiding one little secret from Quinn that might she blow this relationship out of the water. Once again, the ladies of the MC have a part to play, and I for one would like to go on a night out with them, what scream that would be.
The cat-mouse game going on with the Mole, and the MC ramps up fast, and if you read the other books and know what Mole did in those stories, then that is nothing to what he does in this one.
I have been completely obsessed over The Devils Soldier MC and this one captivated me from the start. We dive right back in with Shadow and the others trying to find out who the Mole is and deal his punishment. I was so excited for this to be Shadow's story as this broody man has had me intrigued from the first book. When things start to get overwhelming the security firm Shadow runs starts looking for help. This is how he meets Quinn a social worker who helps Vets get their lives back once they are out of the Military. From the first time he heard her voice he was intrigued by her, but when they meet for the first time he is stunned and taken off guard. I am not going to give any in-depth information as you really need to go into this story with no spoilers it will make it that much better. Quinn is shy and awkward when it comes to men, and it doesn't help that she has a daughter Macy who is quite the little girl, and she steals the show on many occasions. This fisty spitfire of a child is definitely going to join the coven of women one day and maybe even become a leader she is quite a character. I loved how Quinn and Shadows journey was written it was sweet and loving while both characters had some past traumas and pain to deal with. As the story progresses you have so much action and mystery while Shadow and Quinn work their way into each other's lives. This book was a fantastic read and you just can't get enough. Another MC hit from Emily Rose. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.
I looked forward to this book the most from the moment we were introduced to shadow I fell in love and knew his other half would also need to be great we are introduced to Quinn a quiet shy women with a hard pass and on top of that a beautiful 5year old Macy who is head strong fun loving little girl. Quinn is living her day to day safe life until a meeting shadow and his world puts her in danger but with shadow and the club behind her it will be ok. This book also catches up with the characters we met before and the mole which keeps us guessing throughout the book to who it could be but Emily leads us to him after months of searching and misdirection to whom it be and let me say it's like a come to jesus moment not only to the characters but the readers
This book I didn't want to end and I hope we see more of Quinns family as mixed with the other ladies will be amazing. At points in this book I laugh so hard the cats ran from the room and I had tears rolling down my face bail money needs to be increase if Quinns family stick around. I also cried at points aswell Emily had my emotions all over the place
There are 4 perspectives though out this book just like the other 2 shadow Quinn the mole and Dmitri this makes it more interesting as it's nice to know what the bad guys are thinking and dealing with throughout
Shadow is here!!! From the very beginning - even in the Fire & Ink Series - Shadow has been about and i have been itching for his story!
He's always there, skulking about {Shadow definitely suits him!} but the way the girls in the Coven wind him up, always drag him in to their escapades had me in kinks so I couldn't wait to find out more - and now that I have? Man, my heart completely and utterly split! First with him telling his story to Quinn, but then Rose speaks up and I'm not gonna lie - I sobbed!! It truly was beautifully written, Veterans and PTSD is a tough subject and I think Emily handled it really well!
But who is going to be good enough for Shadow??.... In comes Quinn and the most adorable, stubborn and sassy 5 year old daughter and there we have them! Quinn has such a big heart, she's soft, shy, she's absolutely adorable - but when is life ever straight forward?!?
Not only do we still have a mole 🤬 - but now Shadows past is coming back to bite him....
A really good read that I thoroughly enjoyed 4.5 stars
*I voluntarily received an arc and this is my honest review.
Shadow and Quinn. If you read the first two, this third installment falls directly on the blueprint of the early stories. Same bad guy. I was tiredof him and the strange Russian accent. But then we get these blocks of text messages, set in the little bubbles. I wish the author would have kept the same style as the first two, were texts were bolded and left within the paragraph. It was a mild irritation however. Once again, the 'Coven' made the book worth reading. For most MC's I despise the focus on the women, but in this case, although all characters are fleshed out well, the girls win the prize hands down. Although I don't think their punishments were deflecting their behavior. The girls like this. I also liked how bold they were talking about s..x and embarrassing their men. I wanted to deduct a star because I was disappointed in Shadow's story. I didnt get the emotion I expected from his past troubles and felt it was skirted over. But still reading, but only because of the women.
This book is probably the most anticipated by this author and she did not disappoint. Please check CW/TW before reading as some subjects may be sensitive to certain readers.
Shadow is so swoony- the man is tough as nails on the outside but when it comes to his woman and his family is a softy all while being super protective and fierce. The man truly loves with his whole heart- excuse me while my ovaries explode because a big tough biker with an adorable little girl- ugh all the heart eyes! Quinn was so so relatable- it was like this author took my personality and put in on a page, this made it even more enjoyable to read.
Their story will take you on the best emotional roller coaster- you will laugh, cry and feel every emotion with these characters- they feel like family and the writing is so well done you never want it to end. There are twists, turns and revelations I never saw coming and I can’t wait for more from this author.
Omg , this would have to be the best book in this series so far and that's saying something. I haven't laughed so much reading a book like this in a long time . Macy is my new hero bless her heart ❤️.
I really love these characters and the storyline keeps me on the edge . I can't put these books down .
Shadow and Quinn , man the chemistry between these two just sizzled clear off the pages . They have both been through so much heartache and loss and built so many walls up around themselves for protection it wasn't funny .
Throw in the Russian Mafia a mole in the clubhouse and all kinds of hell breaks loose keeping everyone on their toes.
I highly recommend this series by author Emily Rose the characters are intriguing and relatable the storyline is concise and keeps you turning page after page .
The best part is the Coven and Shadows ever growing Bail fund . It has me in stitches with laughter with every book .
