Life has a way of coming full circle—we just have to open our hearts and let go of the past. As a little girl, all Payton Wheeler dreamed about was coming to Montana and living at her grandfather’s ranch. However, life took a different turn and instead of following her dreams, she followed the path of least resistance. That is until her granddad passed away and left her the Wheeler Creek Ranch. Only, the people of Montana view Payton as an outsider and it appears they will do whatever it takes to scare Payton right back to where she came from, including murdering a gray wolf on her land.
However, nothing is as it seems and those responsible for the threats to Payton might be closer than she thinks.
Justice Kane grew up in a world where he couldn’t trust those around him and love was a foreign concept. It wasn’t that he didn’t believe in it. He’d seen what true love could be like for other people.
However, because of his past, Justice would never be able to open his heart and allow himself to be vulnerable. That is until he was assigned to protect Payton Wheeler. She changed everything. And he would do whatever it took to protect her from the pains of the past. Even if that meant it had to rip open a few old wounds to do it.

This story was so good!!! Talk about grabbing you by the heartstrings!!! All the feels plus my favorite part, which is the suspense and action!!! Justice and Payton will have to work for their happy ending, that's for sure!! Grab this book up because it's a must read!
I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review
Such a twisty tale that delivers a variety. I love the variety this book entailed. Layers and twists along with out Ex military Justice and intelligent, generous woman Payton. Justice has had a horrible past. Two fold and when he shares some of it with Payton (his age, size etc) I almost lost it. Payton sees the good in everyone and finds it hard to see the dark in people. What she went through and stood up and did, kudos Payton. As the mystery winds down and what Payton says and does....sign me up to be her friend. Thank you for this twisty arc that delivers. All thoughts and opinions are my own which I freely share. #Guardingpayton #jentalty #brotherhoodprotectorsworld #twistedpagepress
I was sucked into this story from the moment I started reading it and did not want to put it down for fear I’d miss something. Payton and Justice made the perfect pairing. They’re both tough and smart, but at the same time wounded and a little vulnerable. They’re like two matching puzzle pieces: they just fit. The mystery kept me guessing. And with an abundance of suspects, it kept Payton and Justice on their toes to stay one step ahead of the villain. I loved seeing these two get their richly deserved Happy Ever After, and I can’t wait to get my hands on whatever the author has for us next. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Oh. My. God. I seriously love this book!!! Jen Talty has written a perfect addition to Elle James’ Brotherhood Protector world. Justice. WOW. What a man!! You see through the alpha dominant male, the fighter and protector to the traumatised little boy who was treated in a way no one should ever be by the people who are supposed to love and cherish him. If there’s any man that deserves love and happiness it’s Justice. Whether he sees it or not he has a heck of a lot to offer someone who can look past his scars to see the beautiful and gentle man beneath. The one crying out to be loved. I loved his tight knit bond with the men from his team but the bond between Justice and Wade was heartwarming, full of camaraderie, love, respect and a brother bond never to be broken. Payton is a stunning character. She has broken the confines of her childhood and embraced where she should have been all along. The only place that was home. I love her independent streak as well as her ability to defer and take on board advice from those more knowledgable than her. It was lovely to see her bond with another woman. We all need a little of sister solidarity sometimes!! Payton gave the ultimate sacrifice, knowing she was doing the right thing but also knowing the heartfelt memories it left her with. Watching these two strong characters together was awe inspiring. They’re chemistry lighting up the pages from the beginning and burning brighter and brighter with every page. I have to say I loved the plot and did not see the ending coming at all. My guess at the evil plotting against Payton was way wrong. Jen Talty has written a beautiful story. A story that welcomes you with open arms, envelopes you in its warmth and invites you to stay awhile. I could not recommend this book highly enough. There just aren’t enough stars to fully portray how wonderful and special this story is.
Payton inherited her grandfather's ranch. It was not unexpected since her father had no interest in it not even when he was growing up there. However, she had done some time in the family's business of real estate before taking the reins of the ranch. This makes it difficult for the residents of * to trust her intentions.
Her grandfather had been a big endorser of saving the gray wolf population in Yellowstone and so is she. When a wolf is found dead in a pasture it's an escalation that is now interrupted as a threat. As such her ranch foreman Colin calls the Brotherhood Protectors to investigate the issue and to protect Payton.
Justice Kane's journey to the Brotherhood Protectors started with a dysfunctional family. His father was abusive, and his mother had left him behind. This lead to him befriending Kane, who's family more or less became his own and when he joined the army Kane went with him. Now retired from the service they both work for Brotherhood Protectors new office in Yellowstone. The area reminds Justice of where he grew up in Lake Placid.
Protecting Payton Wheeler would be his first solo job and he was determined to solve the threats while keeping her safe. He just didn't expect to be so attracted to her.
Payton's father is also a bit of a pain, calling every day but when he suggests he should come out Payton has to put a stop to it.
We learn a secret about Payton before Justice does and it sort of shifts the investigation. There are just so many people that have motive to drive Payton away.
I really love the way the romance works its way into the story and the way the intrigue gradually builds.
I really have to get the rest of the books in this latest group for Brotherhood Protectors World. They are all written by some of my favorite authors.
This may be book 4 in the Team Wolf series but it can absolutely be read as a standalone. Payton dreamed about living in Montana on her Grandfather's ranch, but life had taken her in another direction. But when her Grandfather passed away and left her the ranch, she knew that she had the chance to fulfill her dreams. She wasn't planning on the people to view her as an outsider, nor was she planning on the threats that followed. Justice grew up knowing he couldn't trust those around him. He didn't believe in love or trust that it was real. Not even after seeing others around him find their love. But when he is assigned to protect Payton, he realizes that maybe he was wrong. And that he was just waiting for the right person to show him that he can trust his heart. Now he just has to keep her safe in order to realize their future together.
I absolutely loved this story! Payton is this strong woman who picked a different path than what she truly wanted in order to please others. But she wasn't happy, and she knew it wasn't for her. She loves her Grandfather's ranch and everything about the land. It is truly in her blood and makes her happy in ways that it wouldn't for most of us. Justice is such a strong man, and even though his past haunts him. He acknowledges that it does and knows his own faults. I loved that he always had this friend that was truly more family than most people get in their lives. These two just honestly fit together. They compliment each other in ways that I wasn't expecting but loved. The mystery kept me guessing until it suddenly hit me what it was truly about! I definitely wasn't expecting that!! I was sucked in from the start and couldn't put it down.
4. Guarding Payton 4 Stars I received a free copy of the steamy post-military romantic suspense novel Guarding Payton: Brotherhood Protectors Yellowstone World: Team Wolf: Book Four by Jen Talty and this review was given freely. Featuring the worst and best examples of parents, this twisted story validates the security and love found in families by choice despite the greed and abuse of self-centered blood relations. Contains the themes of teen pregnancy and child abuse as well as the continued theme of wolf poaching. When her grandfather dies, Payton Wheeler leaves the stress of her superficial and business-focused life to regain peace in the beauty of her newly inherited Wheeler Creek Ranch in Montana, only to hire Justice Kane when a series of threats and disgruntled neighbors threaten her life and those she loves. Can be read as a standalone but is best if read in series order. 5. Guarding Leah 5 Stars I received a free copy of the steamy post-military romantic suspense novel Guarding Leah: Brotherhood Protectors Yellowstone World: Team Wolf: Book 5 by Regan Black and this review was given freely. Suspenseful, captivating, and action-packed from the start. Contains a touch of steam, some violence, and a heartwarming ending. Search and Rescue agent Wade Fielding is sent to find undercover Guardian Agency agent Leah Williams, who went missing in Yellowstone National Park while following a lead on an exotic wolf pet ring. Can be read as a standalone but is best if read in the series order as all the series couples are mentioned.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is a great addition to the series. I have adored all of the stories. I also love how they were released at the same time so any interested reader can read them back to back and not forget any of the team characters!
Also this is written in a dual POV format. I really like that as I can better understand and connect with them by seeing their thoughts.
Justice has suffered throughout his childhood but he has overcome it and it has made him a strong man because of it. He joined the Army with his BFF, Wade. The entire team left the Army and eventually settled in West Yellowstone to work for the Brotherhood Protectors. Justice gets a solo assignment in Montana (just 2 hours away from where the team is located) when a gray wolf is killed on Payton's ranch. Just a few months ago, Payton inherited the ranch from her paternal grandfather.
Can Justice figure out who is behind the wolf's murder before any more danger comes to the ranch? Can someone be trying to force her off of the ranch as she is an "outsider" or it is for more personal reasons?
I must admit that I was blown away as to who was behind the killing. The author did a fantastic job in moving the plot very nicely and kept me guess all the while. The only thing I didn't like was (because this is a sexy read), when the two protagonists had sex, there was no mention of protection. That was a little disconcerting but not enough to affect my rating of the book.
Inventing Teal Wolf was a Stroke of Genious! Those Guys... swoonwothy! The Ladies.... strong, even when in a vulnerable Situation! The Setting... OMG! Yellowstone National Park!
Each of the 5 Books (by 5 different Authors) in this Series has it's own Hero/Heroine, but the Stories fit together seamlessly. And, the Moment you have finished the last Book, you feel strangely bereft, because you wish you could have stayed with Team Wolf and their Ladies for just a little longer.
"Guarding Payton" by Jen Talty is Book #4 in the Series.
This is the Story of Justice, Part of the Brotherhood Protectors Team Wolf, who has just witnessed 3 of his Team Members falling Head over Heals for the Ladies who were their first Assignments. He is happy for his Teammates, but does not think it will happen to him, too - he's just too scarred from his Past.
And, it's also the Story of Payton, who has inherited her Grandfathers Ranch, but is made to feel like an Outsider, because she fidn't grow up there. Not only that, but somebody seems to be hellbent to get rid of her... and if she won't be persuaded, there are other measures of Violence...
OMG, this Story... my Heart broke for both Justice and Payton a few times... and then Jen Talty put the Pieces back together with her Story that kerps you on your Toes until the very last Word.
Guarding Payton: Brotherhood Protectors World: Team Wolf, Book 4 is by Jan Talty. This book takes place on the Wheeler Creek Ranch near Cooke City, Montana and borders on Yellowstone National Park. Payton Wheeler, granddaughter of Eddy Wheeler, is now the new owner of the Wheeler Creek Ranch. She unexpectedly inherited the ranch after her grandfather died. She really expected his foreman and friend, Topper to inherit it. After spending every summer at the ranch when she was a child, she was thrilled to inherit the ranch and leave her boring job in Manhattan at the Montgomery Real Estate business. Her father had left the ranch to work for his father-in-law when he married Roxy Montgomery and wanted nothing to do with the ranch. Payton had a rough six months. Not all her hands wanted to stay and work for a woman and most of the townspeople thought she would fail and have to sell the ranch. They were afraid she would sell out to developers who would ruin the town. Payton had no intention of selling the ranch; but some changes were coming for her to be able to afford to keep the ranch. When someone kills a gray wolf on her property and other small things keep happening, she hires a bodyguard from Brotherhood protectors to protect her and find out what was going on. Will she be able to handle the truth when it comes out? Can Justice protect her?
Payton Wheeler inherited the family legacy, Wheeler Creek Ranch on her Grandfather Edward Grant Wheeler’s death knowing it has always been her happy place. The locals do not like outsiders therefore they are still on the fence whether to support her decision to oversee the day to day operations of the Montana ranch until it is clear she is there to stay. She has people trying to buy her out and even some of the local authorities want her gone. Payton loves the ranch and is constantly refusing her parents attempt to sell the property and come return home to New York. After having an alpha gray wolf killed on the ranch in yet another attempt to get her to leave, she finally agrees to hiring a bodyguard. Brotherhood Protector Justice Kane didn’t waste any time investigating everyone involved with the ranch and had his ideas on who may be trying to sabotage her operations, someone Payton could never believe wanted to harm her. As the days pass, more secrets are revealed and Justice is in a race against time to protect Payton before it is too late. This is another great read from Jen Talty. Grabs you from beginning to end! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A spinoff of the much loved Brotherhood Protectors, the Team Wolf series gives the reader an interesting group of men dedicated to help and protect those in need. Payton Wheeler is definitely in need of protection. Payton grew up in the upper Eastside of NYC surrounded by wealth and a privileged life. But her heart belonged in Montana, at her grandfather’s ranch. She is now the new owner of the ranch, many are not happy . When the danger seems to intensify, Justice Kane, a member of Brotherhood Protectors, is sent to be her bodyguard. What neither expected was the instant attraction. But Justice childhood has left him scarred inside and out, and afraid to get close to anyone. Protecting Payton and trying to find out who is really endangering Payton, is the main goal. In the end, if they survive, will they go their separate ways, or will they take a chance at love and finding their HEA? A stand alone story with an engaging plot and interesting characters. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This is the Fourth book in a new series all about the second team to join the brotherhood protector's Yellowstone series and it is aptly named Team Wolf as most of the stories seem to be based around the protection of the wolves that call Yellowstone national Park and it's surrounds home.
Payton Wheeler turned away from her family when she opted to move to Montana after the death of her grandfather and her inheriting Wheeler Creek Ranch a place where her best child hood memories where formed Not everyone is happy about her been there though and the danger is escalating leading to Justice Kane a member of Team Wolf to be assigned to her protection What neither expected was the instant attraction that they both feel But Payton is hiding secrets and Justice's childhood was the things horror movies are made of meaning he has trouble connecting with people Can she teach him to trust and lower his walls as she learns to do the same thing and can they find who is threatening her life You will have to read to see if they both get a HEA
Payton would spend summers with her grandfather on his ranch. She fell in love with everything about it, but after collage she was convinced to go into business with her mother’s side of the family with a fancy real estate company in New York. She finally realized that life was not for her and was ready to reach out to her grandfather to come back to work with him, only to have him pass away and discover that he left the ranch to her. Unfortunately, she’s considered an outsider, and many of the locals were hostile to her. Hostility is one thing, but after receiving threatening messages, and the killing of a wolf on her property, she hires the Brotherhood Protectors to protect her and to try to solve the mystery of who is after her.
Justice is assigned to help her. He has his own demons to deal with, and try as he can to stay away, he is drawn to Payton. Payton has her own secret, and they come to trust each other. Love how they find each other, and how together they try to piece together the evidence to solve the mystery. Another great book in this series.
Ever since her grandfather died and left her his Wheeler Creek Ranch in Montana, Payton Wheeler has been considered an outsider by those who live in the area. When a grey wolf is shot on her property, she becomes a suspect and the feelings and threats against her increase. Justice Kane, a security specialist with 10th Mountain Division of the Brotherhood Protectors of West Yellowstone, is hired to protect Payton. As Justice moves into her home and investigates the threats, they spend time together and the attraction flares between them, but he knows if he takes her to bed that he will want more. After surviving the beatings from his father when he was younger, is he too broken for a relationship with her? He knows his team has his back and will protect Payton, but is the betrayal far more personal and closer than they thought? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation, from the author, for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
Justice and Payton's story was pretty good. It did leave me with some lingering questions. I would have liked an epilogue that would have given me a more information. Something about Payton's current or future relationship with the town, or what happened with Rob, were there any future concerns about Sam? Those kind of things.
It was fast paced, there was some suspense later in the book. I liked Payton and Justice but only felt a mild level of heat or chemistry between the two of them. A good deal of time was spent on Justice's past. Payton had some denial happening.
There was a lot going on in this story. A lot of suspects and a lot of motives. I could understand Payton feeling the way she did when Justice mentioned certain people and their motives. I was actually a bit surprised by the vehemence exhibited in the last couple of chapters.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
When Payton Wheeler was young, she enjoyed visiting her grandfather. She loved the ranch and always thought she would live there. However, she went to college and then started working for her father. When her grandfather passed away suddenly and willed her the ranch, she moved there against her parents' wishes. She was shocked he left her the ranch but then again, her father never liked the ranch and when they did go there, her parents stayed at a luxury hotel rather than at the ranch. As the people at this small town thought of her as an outsider and afraid, she would sell the ranch to some corporation wanting to build condos for the rich and ruin their small town, they have been threatening. She didn’t feel scared until a gray wolf was found on her land, shot and her to get the blame for it. Justice Kane from Brotherhood Protectors Team Wolf has been hired to protect her and at the same time find the person before anything happens to Payton.
Payton inherits her grandfathers ranch after his death. After an Alpha Gray wolf is killed on her ranch, she is a suspect. When that doesn’t scare her off, she starts getting death threats. Developers want her land to erect an elite ranch retreat for the wealthy. Her neighbor wants use of an access road on her property. The ranch manager should have gotten a piece of the property. Her parents are begging her to come back home to New York and work for her father’s property development firm. So, who is after her? She finally gives in to hire a bodyguard from the Brotherhood Protectors. Justice is fresh out of the Army and getting a feel for the new company who has offered him a job. Payton is his first. Who has the biggest drama for getting ahold of the property? Lots of action and intrigue. You will be surprised at the the betrayal behind the events. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
When Payton inherits her grandfather’s ranch, there are some that don’t want her to have it and will do whatever it takes to get rid of her. She hires BP and gets Justice as her “bodyguard” who she is attracted to. They both have their past issues that make it hard for them to trust and as they get closer, they open up to each other but someone is still gunning for and the list is long who wants to get rid of her…will they figure it out before it’s too late. A good read with steam, some suspense, twists and turns, surprises and great characters. I thought the ending was too abrupt especially when all is revealed and no real “feelings” or hard revelations were shown. Otherwise I did enjoy it and I liked the no drama between them. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
This is Book #4in the Brotherhood Protectors Yellowstone Division and let me tell you all this book was absolutely phenomenal and will have you enthralled from the beginning until the end. It's fast paced story is filled with suspense and action packed and chemistry and romance and both fighting demons of their past .Payton wheeler is now owner of Wheeler Creek Ranch after her grandfather passed away but now someone's out to get her and it's The Brotherhood Protectors who send Justice in to keep her safe ,but when feelings form can they both trust each other enough to bare secrets of their past? And figure out who wants her gone and possibly dead? This book was thrilling and just had me so darn hooked and loving each character and how well they end up meshing together.
In many ways, this was the saddest of the five Team Wolf books, with the revelations about Justice’s past and the denouement of the antagonists attacking Payton herself. It’s really difficult to say much about Guarding Payton without including spoilers, which I don’t intend to do, so, in brief, Payton inherits her grandfather’s ranch, with its secrets and dangers, and Justice is assigned to guard her, as his new Yellowstone Brotherhood Protectors assignment. There’s great insight into his friendship with Wade and his ties to Wade’s family, and I for one was, by the end of the book, desperate for Wade’s own HEA too (that comes in Guarding Leah). Payton’s fortitude and moral courage are outstanding; she’s a character to emulate.
When heiress Payton Wheeler inherited her popular grandfather’s ranch, most neighbors and staff are shocked, unaccepting and resentful since Payton only worked the ranch part-time summers while in college. When Payton’s dad hears about her problems and worries, he strongly suggests she join him in her other grandfather’s land development business.
There’s a drastic downturn when the big news of a protected wolf killed on Payton’s land sullies her name and makes her a target. Her friends swear innocence but make a call to the Brotherhood and Justice Kane is dispatched to investigate and protect Payton. Struggling past trust issues and arguing about viable suspects, Payton swallows a big secret and the pair tiptoe to romance. Rating: 4.5stars
Justice is a member of Brotherhood Protectors West Yellowstone. Payton is owner of Wheeler Creek Ranch.
Payton and Justice meet and ( he becomes her bodyguard) , she is having threats and people want her to sell the ranch ( a legacy left to her from Her grandfather).
Justice and Wade have been life long friends, since they have been kids. Wade knowing the trauma Justice went through with his father gave them an unbreakable bond.
Payton is a fearsome independent woman and Justice is n alpha protective male. This book has kept my interest due to the suspense, intrigue, drama, emotions.
I enjoy reading Jen Talty’s books and this one was great. I haven’t read all the Team Wolf series because they are written by other authors. But it’s a good series with it’s own hero and heroine. This one is Justice sent to protect Payton who has inherited her grandfather’s ranch in Montana. He had a very abusive family life and has very conflicted feelings of relationships. She comes from a family with wealth and has been working in the family business in NYC. When she decides to take on her grandfather’s ranch to make sure it’s not sold to developers, she encounters trouble. This has romance and lots of suspense.
In many ways I found this heartbreaking, full of emotional turmoil. From Justice and his parents, his early life wasn't in any way great apart from Wade and his mum an dad. To Payton, her love and wonderful relationship with her grandad, that being derailed by interference. Davey. Then the problems stalking her at the ranch and not knowing who she could trust. Twists and some excitement, betrayal and a romance, there is plenty in this story to have me entranced throughout. I must admit to a few tears with this one, I got caught up with the rawness from all those concerned, by the good stuff as well as the bad. Fabulous characters and an excellent plot.
The author did a fantastic job with this story. You have everything in this story from danger, secrets come out, drama, scheming parents and a HEA. Payton is left with her grandfathers ranch after he died and there are a lot of people against her cause she's an outsider according to them. When things start happening to her, Colin a ranch hand, calls Brotherhood Protectors to hire a bodyguard for her. That's where Justice comes in, he has horrors in his background as well. Get ready to sit down to a fantastic read. HEA.
ARC Review For honest review. This is the fourth book in the series and this one has also of twist to it with danger to boot. Payton wheeler inherited her grandfather large ranch out side of Cooke city Montana and bordering the Yellowstone national park .when a gray wolf is found dead on the property and she gets threats toward her. She hires the brotherhood protectors to help and she meets justice wade another of the 10th mountain division of the army men of his group new to the brotherhood. Fantastic.
This starts out with a mystery and ends with gut wrenching secrets coming out. Payton is willed her grandpa's ranch but she is considered an outsider on the ranch and in the town. So trying to figure out who to trust and who wants her gone is a job for Justice. Both have wounds from their pasts and deserve the happiness they find in the end. It's just a tough road with the help of the protectors to get through the mystery and intrigue to get to a happy ending. I received an advanced copy but the opinions are my own
What makes a family? This book shows three different family units with a surprise twist at the end. Justice Kane grew up with an abusive father and no mother. Payton Wheeler's life involved affluent parents in the city and a grandfather who loved his ranch in Montana. Davey's adoptive parents loved him as if he was their own. One secret caused Payton trouble on the ranch she inherited. Justice was assigned to protect her and investigate. The ending is quite a surprise. I recommend reading Guarding Payton to find out what happens. I received a copy, and I'm voluntarily giving my honest review.
