When a group of strangers meet for a writers retreat on a cruise, at first all seems well. They connect with like-minded individuals – fellow novelists – and recently divorced Erin feels that it’s like a dream come true. After an ugly divorce from an unsupportive husband, she will finally get a chance to heal and write her book.
But when a storm forces their ship on a detour, everything changes. A bad decision leaves seven writers stranded on a deserted island … and things only get worse from there.
While they wait for rescue, they run out of food and water all too fast, and no matter how hard they try, something always seems to go wrong. Suspiciously wrong. As if someone doesn’t want them to leave the island. Not alive, anyway.
And among the increasingly hungry strangers … it could be anyone.
Erin isn't sure who to trust but she's desperate to find a way home before someone dies—before they all die.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would. This book blew me away and I could not put it down, literally, I read it in one sitting.
Erin is recently divorced, having escaped an abusive relationship and has decided to go on a cruise with her friend Marcella. Erin is an aspiring writer, and the cruise is a way to meet up with other writers-all strangers except Marcella-and to really get serious about her writing. Her ex was not at all supportive in her writing ventures.
The story opens with Erin facing some serious motion sickness. The boat is caught in a storm and has decided to go around it. She lays down and when she wakes, she's told by the other writers she's met that the ship is off course and they're holding in place for a bit so everyone can calm before they get caught in the storm again. From the ship they can see an island, but they're told that it is no longer in use, and they won't be visiting it. However, one of the people in the group she's with, Lauren, says she has a friend who can get them to the island for the day and then they can sneak back that night. All 7 of them decide to go for the day, to enjoy the beach and get some much-needed writing done.
They arrive on the beach and are told by Andrew, the guy that snuck them off) to stay out of view of the ship just in case and he'll be back at nightfall. The day is wonderful. They all get some writing done, soak up the sun and enjoy the peace and quiet. That is until someone notices that the ship is gone. They are stranded. Stuck on an island in the middle of nowhere with no chance of getting off. Things go from bad to worse when they run out of water and food and then suspicious things start happening and they begin to wonder if they are along on the island. Is someone messing with them? It definitely feels like someone wants them to stay. What exactly is going on here and can Erin figure it out before it's too late?
I really enjoyed this book! The chapters are short, and they are each told from one of the seven viewpoints. I had no idea where this was going. I was about halfway through when I found out what is going on, I started to have suspicions as to who might be behind it and in the end, I was right. I would like to have seen what happened when Erin really does discover who was behind it. Maybe we're meant to speculate or make up our own conclusions. Either way, I was really shocked by this story, but in a good way. If you love a good psychological thriller, then this is the book for you! I received this book free from Booksirens for an honest review.
It was just okay. I enjoyed reading it but it was also annoyingly unrealistic at some parts. You’re telling me a lady who has barely had water or food is taking hour long jogs on a beach? I don’t think so.
Aaron was newly divorced and on a riding cruise with her best friend Marcella and five other riders Laura, Caleb, Wade, Tom and Graham. Caleb and Laura hooked up right away and Marcella looked like she wanted to hook up with Wade Aaron on the other hand at first didn’t feel interested in anyone even worse her and Graham got off on the wrong foot because he seemed surly and not the nicest person. A couple of days into their cruise Laura came to tell them about a secret excursion they could take to a private island and it wouldn’t cost them that much and the guy from the ship will take them and pick them up. Everyone in their little group was keen to go when they arrived on the private island they were excited to see deck chairs and tiki huts from when the cruise would make pitstops there for their wealthy clients if only Aaron would’ve known this was a macabre reality show where only one of them would survive. She doesn’t know who to trust the whole event just makes her think of her ex and Halsted he in on her side he was at the meeting so many people she thought she could trust and couldn’t she really long‘s for the stability she knew. Can she survive long enough to tell Matthew she’s sorry about the divorce and asked him to take her back oh well this deserted island be her doom? I love books with a quote Drop the Mic “ending and this is definitely one of those books. This book is a definite page turner it’s easy to read intense action packed all the positive things you can say about a thriller book I would say about Lost, it was one of the best survival books I have read in a long time. A really great five star read! I received this from Book Sirens I am the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind to dictate my review.
Wow,Double Wow A writers retreat gone wrong. Seven writers are on a seven day cruise to focus on their writing. But,they decide instead to go off grid to another island, which isn't part of the cruise. Six know what is going on,one is completely in the dark. They all suffer from thirst, hunger and all but the one, death.
This is a wow novel, which I read in one sitting,as will you. This author is a master in absolute terror. You never see the end coming !

While this was an interesting book and I devoured it in an afternoon, I think it could have had more depth. That being said, I would recommend this book as a quick read or a palate cleanser for anyone looking to get into a stand-alone for a day.
I don’t read this genre often so maybe I’m missing an understanding of how fast paced these books can be. I think it missed the mark on imagery and meaningful characters/connection to the story. There’s some interesting twists though!
I stumbled upon this author a few months ago and I'm glad that I did! I'm not sure if this is the 4th or 5th book of hers that I've read, but I've given them all 5 stars! I love the storyline of this book. It's an interesting & fairly original idea. This book contains a good amount of surprises and twists & turns that keep coming to the end. Do yourself a favor & read this book. You'll be glad that you did. You'll also be glad that you found another great, unknown (For now) author!

I really enjoyed this book. After just a few pages, I was hooked and finished this book in one day. It was suspenseful with several twists. The ending was fantastic, I was not expecting that! Great book.
I loved all the suspense and the pov's of the characters adding more and more intrigue. I would have given it five stars but it was similar to another book I read awhile back but I won't mention it or it could be a spoiler.
This book kept me guessing with the turn of every page. I never knew what would happen next or where the story was going. There were a lot of twists and turns and the ending was a true shocker
I wish the characters were a bit smarter. It would have been better if they didn’t turn on each other right away. Erin was extremely annoying. I knew she would be the final girl. But I kept wishing she met a gruesome ending.
It’s basically like a poorly written Hunger Games book.

This book was ok. At times the pace of the book felt off. Details that should have been explained were glossed over. The end took me by surprise but overall a 2 Star book. A little unrealistic in some areas. But ok. I won’t be reading any more books if this is in a series.
Felt like the plot was good, but the execution was poor.
Everything happened too quickly and people had odd reactions to everything.
I was really, really bothered by Erin going for a couple runs when they were stranded and then being exhausted later in the day. Not even kipchoge would do this.

I enjoyed this book and even though there were some questionable decisions made the book kept me interested. I did like the plot twist but would have liked it to be more detailed.
A group of writers meet for a writing retreat on a cruise ship. It seems like a dream come true. A working vacation. Perfect! Erin has recently divorced her husband and she feels that this trip will help her heal and feel motivated once again to write. Due to a bad storm, the ship is rerouted and docks near a small island. No one is allowed to disembark, however. The purpose of the stop is to avoid entering the storm’s path on the return trip. Lauren, one of the members of the group tells the others that she is friends with a crew member, Andrew, that can take them to the island but they
must not tell anyone about it.. When they arrive at the island, Andrew tells the group to travel deep into the island, away from the shore. They must not be seen by anyone from the ship. He tells them that he will return at night to take them back to the ship. The group goes about their day writing their books. Night falls and there is no sign of Andrew. Furthermore, the ship has sailed! They have no food and very little water. Why have they been left on this deserted island? Will they be able to find their way back to the ship somehow or will they starve on this island? Why have they been deserted? What follows is a heart racing story of how a group of people will go to any lengths to survive and get back home. I enjoyed this book very much. The story moved at the perfect pace. I felt many emotions reading this book and I highly recommend it. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was an awesome book! Lots of action and suspense. I finished this book in one day. 😂
7 strangers get stranded together on a deserted island. The story is told from multiple viewpoints, but it seems the main character is Erin. At first Erin was hysterical and made absolutely no sense and I really didn't like her. I liked her more as the book went on.
I did get some characters confused because there were so many of them. I know 7 really isn't a lot, but most of them were men and only 3 were women, so it was easier to keep track of the women. With the exception of 2, the men all kind of blended into one person.
About halfway through the book comes a plot twist I wasn't expecting. It really put the everything into a whole new perspective. And then the end! Wow! Talk about a shocker. This author does this to me with each book I read. Lol I want to throw the book across the room in an, "I can't believe this!" moment.
I definitely recommend this book 100%. It's a must read!
Wow WOW this book was absolutely fantastic I literally could not put it down for one second I finished it in 24hours!!!! It hooked me and has thrills from the first chapter and talk about twist after twist!!!! I had never heard of this author before but now I want to read everything she's written one of the best books I've read this year!!!! I highly recommend!!!!
Much thanks to #BookSirens and #ThePublisherAndAuthor for selecting me to read and review this ARC
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I’m giving this book 3.5 stars (rounded up to 4). I really enjoyed the first half of this book - the premise was interesting and it caught my attention right away. The chapters switch between narrators throughout the book and about half way through, the story changes pretty dramatically. I really enjoyed the twists and turns the story took but I would have liked to get to know the characters a little better. Overall, an entertaining read!
Twisted! Lots of twists and turns, trying to figure out whodunit. Poor Erin, took me a bit to understand that she was the protagonist, and did she get a raw deal. Going off on what she thinks is a writer's retreat on a cruise to a tropical island, and it turns into a case of who's going to make it?!? Someone is sabotaging their efforts to save themselves! What a read! I couldn't put it down!
