When a high-value prisoner transfer is interrupted in the blistering Arizona desert, Special Agent Dirk Lasher and his new unit of not-yet-trained operatives must give pursuit. With no time to prepare and little familiarity between the team members, the stakes could not be higher. If their prisoner Kimberly Sharp is allowed to escape, the very foundation of global society could come unraveled.
As the pursuit intensifies and the stakes increase, powerful competitor countries get involved, pushing non-stop to the pulse-pounding deadly showdown on the outskirts of civilization. The criminal Sharp is more valuable than initially realized, and the outcome may just determine the future of civilization itself.

Not quite as good as the author’s first book in this series, “Panama”Red”, but not bad. So I plan on reading his next one in the series. The third one is out now.
More stores after I read book 1, Panama Red!! This is definitely a series that needs to be read in order.
The storyline was great, the character composition was great, it was action packed, but because I was missing the information from Panama Red, I was missing too much about the overall story.
The author's note about reader feedback of Panama Red helped me a little, but I was missing too much of the "back story" that would have filled out the current storyline to be able to understand it all. When I am reading of things involving high-level criminals, governmental agencies involved with holding high-level criminals, and foreign countries, I find I need certain information to understand the whole storyline as I've never been in the military or worked in the government.
I believe this book is a great book, but I can't give it more stars until I read Panama Red so that I have the entire story of how it goes.
Operation: Just Cause #2 – Drive Faster delivers relentless momentum from the first page to the last, proving once again that David Edward knows how to keep readers on the edge of their seats. Set against the blistering backdrop of the Arizona desert, this high stakes thriller follows Special Agent Dirk Lasher and his hastily assembled team as they race to stop a prisoner escape that could threaten the world order.
Edward’s mastery lies in his pacing and realism each scene pulses with authenticity, from the tactical maneuvers to the terse dialogue that reflects the chaos and camaraderie of untested operatives under fire. Beneath the breakneck action, the story explores themes of duty, trust, and the razor-thin line between order and collapse. For readers who love military thrillers that blend action with intellect and moral weight, Drive Faster is a sharp, cinematic experience that hits every gear perfectly.
I really enjoyed this second book, it does what I think is hard to do, it moves the characters forward, and really expands the role of the main villain from the first book in a completely unexpected and interesting way, without compromising the character. It was such a cool unexpected twist (I don't want to give anything away).
The book also starts off with a bang and really never lets up. I was interested by the first half of page one and then stayed interested all the way through. Just like the first book, the fights are brutal and realistic, the characters are deep, the back story is interesting and has me curious where it's going, and I can't wait for the next one!
(PS - This book has GREAT male and female leads that were very believable)
I've been reading SiFi for about 70 years, yep 70. Occasionally I venture outside of my comfort zone, Harry Potter, Shogun, Black Tide Rising and now "Drive Faster" by David Edward.
Took 2 whole days to finish it- 309 pages - including next book teaser. The book is superb, the character development superb, the personally back story superb, the action superb. Did I mention superb?
As a bonus the inclusion of "international banking" manipulations being used to control world politics was rather thought provoking. No, I'm not a conspiracy theory believer in the Luminary, but the scenario is plausibly presented.
I never read military, war, or political books.....do not like them...... Well, I really liked this one. David Edward has a style of writing that made this book more "personal" than most military books, and more of an added "mystery" to the end. I won this book as a Goodreads Amazon Kindle copy. I am certainly glad I won it, because I have found a new author and genre.
This is the second book I've read in the Dirk Lasher series and I liked it as much as the first. This is a real action thriller that moves as a fast pace, has lots of intrigue, the addition of a fascinating new character (Sharp) and a hero with some solid, if conflicted, principles. I'll be looking for the third book. I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway for this honest review.
Ol' Dirk sure gets involved with intrigue, it is almost his middle name. Rather calm and collected he pulls his troops from peril and finds success on the other side. Now we have to check out the new situation and see if he and his crew made wise decisions. This novel was exciting enough to make it a fast read, and on average the action is fairly plausible.
This fast paced well written thriller will keep you captivated until the last page. In the second book of the Just Cause series, my favorite character, Dirk Lasher, does it again. I highly recommend this book without any reservations to all thriller readers and can't wait for the next one.
If you're looking for an incredibly fast-paced blaze of unique characters, this is the book for you. Dirk is Dirk, but Sharp is not the standard character, but an individual diamond all by herself. Well done-
This is a riveting story of international intrigue, murder, mayhem, and efforts to always do the right thing, even if the methods are unorthodox. The heroes and villains were not always clear cut, but that actually enhanced the story.
Not to bad for a sequel. I think it is well written and can see that for some this series would be a must read. I received this book on a giveaway, so I purchased the first book so that I would know enough about the characters to read the second one.
Good story and the author has a way of wording things so that you understand what is going on. I definitely would recommend these books to someone if this was their type of genre. Unfortunately for me, while I would like to know what happens in the 3rd book, I don't think I will actually read it.
