This was a perfect cookbook to have in the house when I had my first bread machine
I was just starting into bread baking, and this was the perfect companion. I highly recommend it to anyone that has a bread machine regardless of size. It will tell you and the recipes which recipe do you use for whichever machine that you got.

I have fond memories of making bread in a bread machine.

Maybe we should get back into it.

A classic cookbook, revised.

I had a bread machine in the 90s, and used this cookbook for 95% of the bread I made. When my bread machine finally died, I sadly gave it up. 20+ years later, I was delighted to find the
revised edition after acquiring a barely-used machine. I’m so looking forward to my favorite peasant bread, the delicious cheese bread, and making pepperoni rolls with the hot dog bun recipe. 😁

I made each recipe at least twice. Usually needed more water/liquid. But the results tasted wonderful!

A favorite.

I've made a bunch of breads from this book, especially during the COVID era.
White bread (p24): 2020-01-25. Improvised 2T milk because no nonfat dry milk on hand.
Sally Lunn (p25): 2019-06-24.
Portuguese Sweet bread (p26): 2019-07-01. Kids liked it. I also remember this as being a favorite bread from my childhood.
Portuguese white bread (p27): 2021-01-24.
English muffin bread (p28): 2020-02-01. Kids liked it. 2020-12-08. 2021-01-22.
Peasant bread (p29): 2020-01-03.
Sour cream bread (p30): 2021-04-09. Liked it.
Crusty Cuban bread (p31): 2021-04-13.
French honey bread (p32): 2021-03-27.
Italian bread (p33): 2020-01-04. 2020-01-05.
Buttermilk bread (p35): 2021-09-25.
Cottage cheese bread (p36): 2021-03-08.
Cream cheese bread (p38): 2022-01-25. 2022-02-20.
Banana oatmeal bread (p102): 2019-06-22. Used 2 bananas. Very little banana flavor.
Salsa cornmeal bread (p121): 2021-09-22.

This is a nice simple cookbook with specifically bread machine recipes. I tried the raisin bread recipe and it turned out fine. Not up to the hype it was given, but a perfectly fine bread. I expect to try the pumpernickel and the Portuguese sweet bread, too.

One thing to note, the recipes are divided into small, medium, and large loaves. Each recipe has all three. However, due probably to bread machine improvements, the book’s large is equal to my machine’s middle category (2 pounds) and its medium is about equal to my machine’s smallest setting.

Update: I increased the rating on this book because I’ve tried more recipes, and the two Portuguese breads are phenomenal, the best high-rising white breads I’ve ever had. They are now pretty much the only recipes I use when I need a good loaf of simple white bread.

Tried a couple of recipes and even following with exact measurements and fresh ingredients. Bread always had a flat top. So disappointing.
