Really liking this Coltrane and Calvin Series!
I want book three now! Being 74 my memory fails me and I read so many books one after another. I want to read book three while the characters are fresh. Calvin is quite the 12 year old little man and Levi is quite the big man. The girls are kinda great to but all they do is cook and read—just kidding. 😀

Book 2
Not long ago I read the first book in this series. I am so pleased to discover more about the delightful characters. This story is an excellent continuation about Coltrane, Calvin and their family. There is a good balance between challenges, fun and everyday life. The story is believable. Time has passed gently from the first story through this book, so I know I am getting to read all the important moment for this charming family of characters. On to book 3!

5 STARS for Book 2 of this wonderful storyline with Coltrane, A young orphaned cowboy who had went up on the wagon train trail & ran into Indians with a little boy & little girl in burlap sacks that they offered to sell to him on his way to the gold field.
It was interesting how he became like an older brother & father to them, met their aunt & him & little Calvin also became best friends & partners. Great characters & land descriptions.

Room to grow
This story was well written and in a plain honest fashion.the history of each character was honest and infirm was informative. He lives of honest working people and interactions with criminals very true.our modern lives need to take lesson and take time to be honest and respectful to alk.

Wonderful story
This story was very exciting to read. It's full of action and family taking care of each other. There was even a trial and that was done very well to wrap up the ending. I really like this author. He writes with so much authenticity you wonder if he was actually a vasqueros!!

Little Man
Somehow I ended up reading this Western Series of Books by this fantastic Author and yet each one is a five star book by themselves. The storyline and romance are so well written that I can’t put the books down. This Author without a doubt is one of the greatest writers of western fiction. I will recommend all of your books to your Readers!!

Not quite as good as book 1, but still pretty great. As in book one, Coltrane is still one of the most likable characters I’ve experienced. His relationship with Calvin is heartwarming, and their journey south is both funny, dangerous, and heartwarming. The introduction of Rose caught me off guard, but ends up making for a delightful ending.

One of the best mid-1800 westerns I have read
Little Man #2 is a fast paced story of hard work, strong families, travel adventure, helping neighbors and positive endings, and of course, bad guys, crooked law enforcement and good guys ‘on the right side of the law’ who ‘make things right’. Looking forward to Book #3.

Love it when the good ones continue one after the other, you already know the characters and don't begin cold turkey.. Know Calvin will wind up with Rose already, gonna turn into a great guy thanks to Levi, he was always #1 to me thanks R . O. Lane for such wonderful stories. Looking forward to the Vaqueros C & C #3

Excellent story of growing up hard but true to right and wrong.
The little man is 11 pro 12, handles a gun like an older man, and has to maturity of a man. Nothing like kids today. He lives with his uncle and has saved his life a time or two. Justice served by the lawyer and the kid is interested in law now. Highly recommended for all readers.

A terrific story
I stayed up all night reading this book. It is a touching story and refreshingly clean of profanity and vulgarity as are all the books I have read by R.O. Lane. Looking forward to the next book I read written by him.

Great book!! Can’t wait for number 3!! Keep going with these characters and others I’m sure you will find. Great the way you bring in new ones. Love it!! With all the western books I read, it’s refreshing to read a new story line. Very creative!!

A fun reading series
Truly love the way the author spins thse tales so you can't stop turning the pages. The action and adventure jump off the pages and you feel you are right there. I can't wait for book three.

Can't wait for book 3 Mr Lane needs to write faster. I think anyone reading this series will enjoy them as much as I did

another fine western tale.
Always enjoy RO LAnes westerns. This one is book two of Coltraine’s and Calvin’s adventures. The historical accuracy is spot on for the stories settings. And Lanes stories are always excellent.

Great sequel!
I enjoyed the first installment of Coltrane and Calvin and was not disappointed with this in the second in the series. Good adventure, action,and what appears to be a budding romance. I am going to next start on the third story in this series.

Wonderful
A great story with everything included to make a fantastic western. Lots if action, romance and even a little courtroom finesse all undermine cover. I look forward to reading the next book in the storyline.

Justice prevails
Lots of action that keeps me eagerly waiting for the next one. I keep hoping Calvin will age faster so he can be a bigger contributor to the story but maybe it's better to let him age slowly and enjoy his antics as a young man.

This was a very exciting story about not only Calvin & Coltrane,but also about their family,and the adventures they have.

Excellent story
It is refreshing to see a close relationship developed between Coltrane and Calvin, the boy he rescued from Indians. With Coltrane as a fine example, Calvin has grown into a young man following a exemplary example toward manhood.

This author never disappoints and this story is no exception. Believable characters, descriptive settings and a well scripted story line that includes a touch of romance. I will be looking for more reading by this talented aurhor.

I read book 3 and then had to find the first 2! I loved Calvin and Levi characters , they're not afraid to do what is necessary to protect family and ranch. I've read your other books too and its hard to put down book after I start!

This book is even better than Book One. The story develops very well and progresses believably right through the book. The characters fit together well and the plot is well written.

Very interesting book. Over the way Mr lane builds his characters. The story just tells its self. The way he ensures the country, the weapons ,the weather are like the reader was present. Recommended.

Solid storytelling

This is another enjoyable read. It moves a little slower than book 1, but I recommend both. Apparently, there is going to be a book 3 and I will want to read the new book when it becomes available..
