Bethany’s husband made a big mistake and tonight he’s going to pay.
If her husband doesn’t value their married relationship she will show him her true worth and make him regret taking her for granted.
Tonight she’s going on a date for the first time in twenty years. She’s been on these new dating apps. There are so many amazing men to choose from.
She’s wearing silk. She’s wearing garters. She’s wearing high heels.
It feels good to be wanted. To be desired. The large, masculine alpha man she’s meeting tonight has proven what he’s got for her—and it’s exactly the thing she was looking for.
A challenging tale for me to read - rated on my short story scale.
On the one hand it’s a wife of 20 yrs exploring her sexuality - that’s erotically described. On the other, it’s a wounded woman humiliating her wayward husband - the humiliation is relentless. All of this is very well written. 5 Stars.
But: there’s no introspection. As Bethany begins to open up, try new things and explore beyond her minimally vanilla experience, she never wonders how her husband would have responded if she’d opened up to her husband and explored earlier. If she was that closed down in the bedroom for 20 yrs, my guess is she was as closed down in other aspects of her married relationship. Does she really bear no responsibility for her husband’s both emotional and sexual infidelity?
We never hear of any attempts by husband Robert to draw Bethany out, but neither do we hear of any attempts by Bethany to develop a deeper relationship with Robert. I’m knocking off a star for this missed opportunity; I’m annoyed enough that maybe it should be 2.
So 4 Stars, but be prepared to be aggravated by this simple, well written story that could have been so much more.
Quick read story of a recently separated woman, Bethany, finding herself in other men and a journey of discovery. Her husband Robert is having to endure his wife’s experimentation because of his unfaithfulness. Great story!
Not my type of erotic story but it was well written.
What i didn't enjoy was Bethany's anger and instability which lead to cruelty and torturous behaviour. All understandable in the context of the story, just not what turns me on.
That said, KT wrote Bethany with a lot of honesty, she was reluctant with her date and showed some inexperience due to a long and faithful marriage. She just came off a bit unhinged and broken at times, which is possible considering what happened to her.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
As the big 40 approaches, Bethany is not only suffering from empty nest syndrome but she is also a woman scorned by her own husband’s very public and hurtful infidelity.
Husband Robert seems a little too keen for her to take retribution, but gradually the idea starts to appeal to this, thus far one-man woman.
With a growing lust for revenge and the desire to experience a bigger and rougher man, she turns to a dating app.
There is still time for a few twists in this short story.
3 or 4 stars? Think I'll give it a 4 'cos it's Kt and as they say ( sorry you US people, you won't know what I'm talking about) "she makes exceedingly good reads". In this one, hubby has an affair with his daughter's 20yr old friend, wife finds out & cucks him with bigger lovers. Bit short but worth a gander..
Interesting story, certainly a different take on the genre. However even if I was excited, if she was unwilling to go to counseling to resolve the problem, regardless of what I’d lose, I’d leave.
He was terrible, but willing to make amends. She is sadistically punishing him and it’s not likely to end after a year. He may like his wife as a hotwife, but it should eventually be a mutual process for both to enjoy.
Unfortunately Ms. Morrison chose to take a good storyline, one she developed in a really interesting manner at first; chose to kill it for me. I enjoy a woman's empowerment, of her exploring and becoming fulfilled in a way she didn't know she was missing. Bethany was doing that but then we find it was all planned and she and her husband were trying to get back together. How she punished him for his infidelity, the depths of degradation she put him through, that turned me off. I didn't finish the story. Sorry Ms Morrison, I, and a lot of men, don't find that erotic at all.
The story is at first presented as a kind of revenge affair by a wife whose husband who cheated on her, but then we learn that the husband asked to be cuckolded as his "punishment" for his infidelity. It's as though he used his own wrongdoing to get what he really wanted, which is to be put in chastity and teased by his wife, who now enjoys the attention of other men even though she was deeply hurt by her husband's affair. I felt a little manipulated by the reveal of the backstory. Morrison is a good writer, probably too good to be using these tricks to build a cuckolding story. Despite the claim of the subtitle, there's nothing harsh about giving a submissive guy exactly what he wants.
