Crescent City Ghost Tours #3

Love and Curses: A Haunting Paranormal Mystery Romance

Rate this book
Ghosts she can handle. Curses…not so much. Trish Bennet's bestie is a medium. In fact, most of her friends have psychic abilities, so she isn't the slightest bit afraid of ghosts. When she gets the chance to run a bed and breakfast in a historic New Orleans mansion, she expects to meet a spirit or two. What she doesn't expect is to be hit with a nasty curse or for the remedy to be marrying the flirtatious younger man who's been asking her out for years. He'll only break her heart if she says yes, but now she doesn't have a choice. Eric Landry has had it bad for Trish from the moment they met. At twenty-four, he's six years younger, and though the sizzle between them is hotter than hellfire, she's made it clear his age is a problem. He'll do anything to prove his feelings for her are real, including pretending to be the best husband she could ever have. Trish may think it's just a game, but when her life is on the line and he's the only one who can save her, how can she say no? If you like haunting mystery and men who would move heaven and earth for the women they love, you'll adore this steamy, friends-to-lovers, fake marriage romance.

USA Today Bestselling Author Carrie Pulkinen has always been fascinated with things that go bump in the night. Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with her passion for writing and her love of a good happily-ever-after, and becoming a paranormal romance author seems like the only logical career choice.

Before she decided to turn her love of the written word into a career, Carrie spent the first part of her professional life as a high school journalism and yearbook teacher. She loves red wine and chocolate, and in her free time, she likes to read, take pictures, and spend time with her family.

The Crescent City Ghost Tours group is back, and this time we (finally!) get a book for Trish! I’ve been waiting for this since Book 1 and I was so excited.

As always, these books make me want to visit New Orleans, and put forth a pretty high standard to live up to if I ever get the chance! You can tell just how much Carrie loves the city and it’s contagious. I want to go to Dat Dog and walk by the houses of the Garden District. Heck, I want to go on one of the tours and see Blake’s museum, too!

Eric was a somewhat minor character previously, but I’m now SO smitten with him. He’s just the sweetest, nicest, most thoughtful guy I’ve read in a long time. And his relationship with his grandmother just makes me love him even more. Trish’s apprehension over their age difference is understandable, most guys aren’t really looking to settle down at 24, but it did grate on me a little bit. Maybe that’s just because I’ve done it, though. He was so good to her, and she appreciated him from the get-go, she just had to get over thinking of him as a “kid.”

We also get to see some of the characters from earlier books that I loved, which made me really happy! How could you not be happy to see those women?

This might honestly be one of the most feel-good books I’ve read in a long time, which is saying something considering the curse. As I saw the percentage number going up and up, I found myself wanting it to keep going. For once I didn’t cry, and I just loved watching Trish and Eric’s story unfolding, despite constantly worrying about what might get uncovered next.

Definitely give this book a read!
While it could be read by itself, you really should read the first two first. I always suggest reading this whole series, and I still absolutely do! AND Love and Ghosts is currently free (no guarantee for how long, though!)!

LOVE AND CURSES is the third book in the Crescent City Ghost Tours series. Though it will stand on its own, I highly recommend reading the full series for better understanding and enjoyment.

I loved Trish and Eric’s story. Trish is letting a little number get in the way of believing Eric is serious about his flirtations with her. Luckily fate has a hand in bringing them together (in the guise of his grandmother). With a few more paranormal twists that lead to their destined happily ever after, I was cheering for Trish and Eric from beginning to end. BTW there is a big number between my hubbie and me – he’s 14 years older than me and some think that’s too much; it’s not!

This is a wonderful friends-to-lovers paranormal romance and I’m looking forward to another trip to New Orleans with my favorite PNR author.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Trish Bennett has no psychic ability to speak of but she hangs out with a group of ghost hunters who have skills. Eric Landry can usually read people's thoughts but Trish is an exception. He is interested in dating her but Trish is reluctant because he's younger and she perceives him as too immature, and because he's good at dumping women (he can sense when they're thinking about dumping him and get there first). They end up renovating a haunted house together, and Trish finds out that she can hear spirits if she's cursed.

Despite the cutesy cover, Love and Curses is darker than the author's New Orleans supes series, less of the fun banter and more of the paranormal terror and the human evil factor. Investigating the curse, Trish and Eric uncover evidence of quite horrific cruelty that one of the spirits in the house was subjected to. The story is engrossing. Steam level: Younger men have stamina.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "LOVE & CURSES"
Another great story by Carrie Pulkinen she never disappoints this was a great interesting, intriguing, read with mystery, steam, humor, psychics, ghosts, a few unexpected twists a look page turner for sure.
Trish Bennett's BF is a medium most of her friends have psychic abilities so she's not afraid of ghosts she runs a B&B in Historic New Orleans so she expects a spirit or two.
Eric Landry has it bad for Trish has since the day he met her she's worried he younger than her but when a nasty Curse happens & the only for it to be gone is for Eric & Trish to marry will he break her heart if she agrees to this.
I definitely recommend to get this excellent story so well worth the read you won't be disappointed Eric will do anything to make Trish realize his feelings are real its not a game to him will they get their HEA you must get this book to see how it all turns out.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review. This is a fantastic series and this book is no exception. I love paranormal aspects in the books I read and Carrie Pulkinen does that up well. This was a fun romance with curses, ghosts, and psychics which made it an excellent read. You'll go through a few emotions while reading and will often be kept on the edge of your seat. The relationship between Trish and Eric showed that there's more to people than meets the eye. I was hooked on this story from the beginning and didn't want to put it down. I sincerely hope that there's more to come from the Ghost Crew team. I highly recommend both book and series which I believe is best read in order.

I received an ARC copy for an honest review. I love all of Carrie's books, but this is my new favorite.

Trish thinks all her dreams are finally going to come true, when the rug is pulled from under her feet. Fate seems to have other plans for her. Those plans include Eric...the younger guy she flirts with when their group of mutual friends gets together. He flirts back, but she refuses to let anything else happen between them. Many unexpected twists and turns throw them together, and things turn out better than they ever even imagined.

I travel a lot for work and usually I'm in an airport laughing my head off while reading one of Carrie's books...this was no exception. People around me think I'm crazy, but at least I'm having a good time.

I found myself reading this book well into the night unable to put it down. Eric loves Trish but despite her own feelings for him she won't consider a relationship because he is six years younger than him. She gets the opportunity to buy an old house to turn it into a B&B. But just as she gets organized to move in, it is bought out from under her feet. However the buyer, none other than Eric's Grandmother decides she is happy for Trish to still run a B&B. But nobody realized the house came with a curse. A curse that will drive Trish mad. The only way out - she has to marry Eric. But what happens when it doesn't work - read the book to find out. As with all the Crescent City Tours books it is well written with a storyline that has you wanting more.

I enjoyed this series for the most part. I liked the paranormal storyline, the teamwork and sense of ‘family’ between the characters. What I didn’t care for was the heroines, and I liked Trish least of the three. She came off as too thirsty, always looking for Mr. Right, like she couldn’t be comfortable in her own skin without the presence of a man in her life. I was onboard with her concern over the FM age-gap, but her fear of being alone with Eric, as though she had no command of her sexual impulses, was absurd. Also, the sex scenes in this trilogy were disappointing. Each couple went through the physical motions, and the words described the acts on the pages, yet it all still came off as clinical, cold and sterile. There really was no steam in their lovemaking, at all.

An excellent book, I loved it! The story was intriguing, with mystery, humor, twists, and of course a developing romance. Trish and Eric are so sweet together. They are very well developed, they have you rooting for them and believing they can be more than friends. I truly enjoyed how the whole story unfolded, and loved the moment they both finally accepted their feelings. It is definitely worth reading just to get to the ending, it was so sweet. I highly recommend you read this book, especially if you like paranormal romances.

I love Trish and Eric's story. Trish has been resisting Erics advances for a few years, by avioding being alone with him. now fate has interviened and she is running the B & B his Grand mother owns. Guess who her closest neighbour is. The paranormal aspects and mistery elements of this story only make it better. Great characters with plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested.. Haunting and harrowing- are they cursed? destined to be together? both?

Eric has fascinated her since she met him. Should she keep pushing him away to try to hold onto her sanity and herself, or should she finally really embrace him and them?

She is the one woman who feels like she fits with him

Can they conquer past, present, love, hate, pain and self?

dramatic and intense paranormal themed adventures and romance

I love this series and this new book did not disappoint.

This story involves Trish and Eric. They are flirtation and clearly attracted to each other but Trish has other plans, but fate (or Eric's grandmother) gives her a deal she can't refuse that throws the two of them together on a daily basis. What will happen now?

With intrigue, suspense, romance, humor, and some history thrown in, this book (and series) have it all.

Love And Curses is part of Carrie Pulkinen's Crescent City Ghost Tours and yes, set in New Orleans.
Trish and Eric's story is just as adorable as the other 2 and we have a little reverse age gap here.
A curse, a marriage, ghosts, great friends and couples, fantastic characters, a brilliant plot.
Well, you've got it all in this book!
A paranormal love story at its finest.
The added scenery is just the icing on a beignet or cake...

Flirty banter to friends in business

Trish has her heart set on a new business venture. She dreamed of running a B & B in an historic old home. Unfortunately things take a u-turn and that's when things get interesting. Eric has wanted Trish for years but she's always kept him in the flirty friend zone. It was great to see the familiar characters once more as the hunt for answers and help get Eric and Trish together.

The conclusion of a series which began with another publisher/series name. Nice conclusion to the series. I've enjoyed them all. Very easy read, perfect if you just need to switch your brain off and relax. Not really for tweens due to the sexual scenes but adults or mature older teens would enjoy it. The entire series touches off and on with mental and emotional health issues and normalizes them which was nice to see. I recommend this book and the series.

The previous book was my favourite in the entire Haunted ever after collection, but this book wasn't bad either. It was fun, it just could've used a bit better pacing. I felt like we spent the first half of the book with Trish in constant denial, and as I've said previously with other books in this series, willful ignorance gets old fast. Thankfully the second half of the book was much better than the first. Can't wait to read more by this author.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, I loved the creepy curse, and the ghost busting and voodoo references just added to the whole atmosphere of the story. The plot was almost a horror story, but not too horrible, and the romance is sweet. The ending was excellent, I totally recommend this for anyone who enjoys a romance mixed with mild horror

Cursed

What happens when your dream house is bought right out from under you? Of course, you have to find out who stole your dream! Add in a curse on the property, and all hell breaks loose. Especially since, until now, Trish is not a sensitive. The curse changes that in a hurry. Can she and Eric beat the curse and live happily ever after?

good

This was a good book. I feel really bad for Eric though, he seems like such a good guy and Trish is such a coward and kind of judgey. But thankfully they get their happy ever after, although I agree with Natasha that they were stupid thinking they could fool a curse.

This paranormal romance was more on the darker not so rom-com vibe as it dealt with the curse and the human's evil side whilst Trish and Eric fall in love.

Trish irked me from the beginnin! there's a saying where i'm from: there isn't a worse blind that the one who just doesn't want to see! it's incredible how obtuse she is right until the end, no wonder she's frien with Emily! also, that curse is way too awfull and cruel!

The best one of the series! So spooky, so sad, so cute! The atmosphere was great, the opening was great, the mystery and history was great!

I enjoyed Eric as a love interest the most of all the guys in the series. Trish had her moments where she frustrated me but overall she wasn’t too bad!
