Adam Harrison is the undercover boss of a billion-dollar tech company. Handsome. Charming. Heart of pure gold. He trusts me—his ruthless executive assistant—to run Vision Tech.
But after years of working together, the lines between us are impossibly blurred. Our hands brush when they don't need to. Our touches linger. Our eyes find each other in crowded rooms. Even worse? He treats me like a queen rather than an employee.
It takes a horrible date gone wrong to realize I need to take my life back. Now. But on the day I announce my resignation, Adam gets another harsh surprise… In the form of an eleven-year-old on his doorstep.
I’m sure I can help Adam with this latest crisis and then quietly disappear. Only my sexy boss has no intentions of letting me go. At least not without a fight. Extravagant gifts. Trips overseas. Foot massages. He even lets me sleep in his bed. But is all this fuss because he wants me or because he wants a competent CEO stand-in?
I wish I could answer that question. I wish my heart wasn’t so tangled with his. And I really wish we never found out the real reason Adam’s son showed up on his doorstep.

Each book in this whole series is basically 3.5 stars for me but this one is more like 2.75/3. It's cute but there were two not picky things that don't add to the plot that took me out of the story so completely they were a running annoyance in my head.
In one part of the story, the author makes reference to a number of songs and credits 'Another One Bites The Dust' to Michael Jackson.
In another part, the timeline of their first date is unrealistic. They spend an hour in the morning shopping then go and take a private jet to Paris for lunch (seriously?), shop some more, take the jet back, head to Adam's house to make out and talk a lot, spend two hours discovering a secret and still have enough time in the day to pick up Adam's 11yo son (who is still awake) that night. Just...no. That's too much for one day.
Also the conflict they had to get over was stupid. There's no reason Nova had to go through all that and I think she should have grovelled more.
Overall the book was along the lines of the others and a fluff read.
The female main character is both the CEO of the company and the owner's executive assistant. Supposedly, it's a secret that he's the real owner. But this setup is BIZARRE. She is deferred to in some scenes as the person in charge (but she strangely has no executive assistant to back her up) and in other scenes is taking care of the owner as HIS executive assistant. This author did not think this through. Even if she's only "acting" like the CEO (tho she is definitely taking charge), she would need a LOT of administrative support. Cause this MANCHILD isn't helping out.
The hero is a clueless manchild who is both controlling and dismissive. He cannot be bothered to step up and be an adult. He kidnaps the heroine to "take care of her", completely ignoring her desire to be at home.
There is so much weird drama, from an unexpected 11-year old being dropped off at the hero's house to the heroine's manic and spiteful sister to her mysteriously quitting without notice, etc.
The character development was mostly decent, but the inciting conflict fell flat. Nova truly needed some type of therapy to correct her behavior around her sister. Nova was also kind of boring and we don't know why. She has no hobbies besides work and collecting stationary/office supplies. For someone as intelligent and resourceful as she was, the misunderstanding/conflict between her and Adam at the end was ridiculously simple. I literally said 'What a dweeb.' And using classic quotes from Scandal in this book? Sacrilege lol. I really enjoyed Rowan and Adam's relationship and the other characters from previous stories.
Unless this story is set in Europe, no one can fly to Paris in the morning for lunch then fly home for dinner.
The reason for the FMC gave for wanting to quit was dumb. There was nothing redeeming about the sacrifices she was made throughout the story. It was all self serving and not all endearing.
The characters outside of the mains were filler. Not even the kid was special; just a plot device.
This is probably my least favorite out of the 6 I've read. I absolutely adored Adam! And Rowan was downright adorable. I just hated Nova for more than 80% of the book. She was beyond stubborn, too controlling, and absolutely treated Adam and everyone like crap. I get she didn't trust anyone and wanted everyone at arms length, but fuck? She could have been a little nicer. She could have opened up, especially after EVERYTHING Adam did and admitted to her. How she could stand there as he's begging her throwing caution to the wind and be so freaking cold and heartless. I'm glad she grew, but I honestly felt Adam deserved better, but you love who you love. I can't wait to see the disaster that Island and Clay are going to be!!
Adam and Nova's introduction in Prickly Romance: Single Dad AMBW was so intriguing to me that I to stop at the middle of that book to seek their own story. Its a workplace romance with a beautiful and sophisticated CEO, Nova, who appears to even dominate the company's undercover boss, Adam. Their love and respect for each other is beautiful to read most of the time, but Adam loves Nova to a point to where she felt smothered and it did feel that way as I read on. This issue kept coming up in the book, but it felt like the author abandoned it altogether in the end. I also felt that it fell short with explaining exactly why Nova wanted to quit the company and what exactly what she planned to do once she leaves. The book goes on to show how deep Adam's love and need for Nova can get as his secret 10 year old son suddenly shows up 80's sitcom style at his house at the same time she gives him her resignation. Finally, you have Nova's wayward sister, Layla trying to make amends with her and some bull#$@ ensues. Nia Arthurs is known for her slow burn romances with mild heat. I often find myself either becoming bored and abandoning them or enjoying them all the way to the end. There's plenty of near-kisses and near-intimate teases to where it got ridiculous. Otherwise, the warm and fuzzy moments and some comically questionable ones entertained me enough to give this a solid 3.5 stars. Plus, Nova was a very likable character. I'm not sure if I'll ever finish Prickly Romance: Single Dad AMBW, but I might check out Island and Clay's upcoming "Beautician and The Beast" story.
Ok the story was boring! Nova was boring...I mean boooriinng!!! The only character in this long winded boring mess was...no one. I cannot wait until I can find a story from this author that is NOT filled with dull female leads. Nova was smart, intelligent, professional and the rest of her personality was troupe typical. Which makes for a boring story. She wasn't cold, she was dull.
What I have come to know about Ms. Arthurs' main male characters are that they are going to be devoted, committed, intelligent, and kind alphas. Love it. Her female lead is a go-getter, beautiful, intelligent, and walk away too easily when it comes to fighting for love. The whole wedding scene was ridiculous and over the top. I understand that she does not want to write intimate scenes and the situations are fillers, but it needs to make sense. Make the book shorter, it's okay to write a short story. I will say, I felt every bit of the situation with her sister. Yes, do what you need to do. If you are looking for a well layed out story, this is it. If you are looking for one that doesn't make you roll your eyes, this is not it.
I’ll give it a solid 4.7. I loved Adam and nova they were amazing. I love how well they fit together. They were really in sync and also like contrasted each other so well that it like really worked out. I guess you could say like balanced. Rowan was so cute and funny. He was adorable. I enjoyed seeing my favorite couple. I love that Rowan has a crush on Niko🤣 I’m really excited about the next book. The way they set it up was really good and bolton looks like he’s gonna be interesting. There was a little spice which was nice. popping up with the other couples and that kind of makes me sad. I really wish they would’ve been some sort of development but I guess not.
This book feels like multiple authors penned the book without talking to each other. One moment Nova is an EA, the next she is running the company, and then she is teaching Adam how to run the company....come on! Then we have Adam who is supposed to be this brilliant inventor and owner of the company but then we are told he is only the brains who has no clue what is going on in HIS company.
Nova and Adam might be the best matched of the couples in this series. I was reminded of Terms and Conditions with how intricately their lives were connected. I liked that we see a lot of Nova’s skill instead of just being told she’s great at her job. I love how obviously devoted Adam was to her and how he constantly looked out for. (Obviously, their “I wait for you” speech was inspired by that scene where Fitz declares his devotion to Olivia in Scandal)
I liked Rowan, though I still wish he hadn’t been sent alone to find Adam. I assumed he knew what was going on with his mother so I was surprised the reveal about her illness was a surprise to him. I think the attachment Nova builds with him was more natural than the attachment between Kenya and Belle in the first book.
I found Nova’s hesitance to let personal feelings and her personal life interact with her professional life very relatable. I liked that she was the most emotionally reserved of the MC’s I’ve read in this series. It made her more relatable to be and it made Adam breaking down her walls even more impactful.
I have mixed feelings on the Lyra story. I don’t entirely understand the purpose of that storyline. I get that it was partially to show Adam seeing the part of her personal life Nova was ashamed of others knowing about. I can’t help but wish it hadn’t been a lesson that those without money and poor pasts might never change. I wished it was going to show that Lyra turned her life around and that Nova didn’t have to shame people like that to maintain respect. Instead, it was just a story that gave me secondhand embarrassment because that whole ordeal had to have reflected poorly on Nova. So, the only MC with a good relationship with a sister is… DeJonae?
The entire wedding thing was strange to me. Alexa’s dream was to fake marry a man that never loved her? That confused me. Even if it was just a dream of a wedding, no one else could’ve played that part for her? Seemed unnecessarily confusing for all parties involved.
Anyway, onto the next one!

The 6th book in the series further introduces us to our main couple Adam Harrison and Nova Delaney. The first thing on the agenda is addressing the status of their working relationship after the ending cliffhanger in Prickly Romance. Before I get ahead of myself, let’s talk more about the couple themselves. Adam Harrison is the Tech Inventor and Undercover Boss of Vision Tech. He is more friendly and full of Southern Charm compared to the other guys in this series. On the opposite end, you have Nova Delaney. Nova is Adam’s no-nonsense Executive Assistant and “CEO” of Vision Tech. Although, they are opposites they still manage to balance each other out.
While the pair are navigating the working relationships & romantic feelings a surprise lands in their respective laps in the form of Adam’s recently discovered 11-year-old son Rowan. Even though I don’t want to give away the whole story, I will say the pair have their hands full. Adam learns from Nova not to have such tunnel vision and recognizes how to be a dad to Rowan. While Nova learns from Adam that is okay to delegate and that acknowledging her feelings is just as important. Of course, there are appearances from characters from the series as well as introductions to new ones. There were a few characters that I understood as the story progresses and some who finally received a much-needed reality check (i.e. Nova’s younger sister Lyra). I also like how Rowan was so embraced by the series couples’ children. Overall, I enjoyed the story. I already can tell that Colt and Island’s story is sure to be an intense one based on their cliffhanger.
Book 6 of the Billionaire Dads series brings us a story where Adam Harrison (Billionaire, Genius inventor) and Nova Delaney (ruthless, ambitious and stubborn-as-hell executive assistant) have been working together for over 7 years. They love each other but swear up and down they can't be together, especially Nova - who's convinced herself to always put sky-high walls up and draw steep boundaries whenever she's around him. Things are made worse when an 11-year-old boy shows up out of nowhere with claims that Adam is his father.
We started the story off slow and I was frustrated by a lot of things at first. But as I kept going and we were introduced to Rowan and saw how Adam adapts to being a father - I started enjoying it a bit. Adam is also such a patient man because the level of stubbornness Nova has really had me wanting to throw my phone across the room countless times as I was reading along. She's way too uptight and geared to make things run smoothly at Vision Tech that she doesn't realise when she's burnt out and when she does come to that realisation, her way to deal with that is to resign. Even though she doesn't want to. Even though she knows he doesn't want her to.
I absolutely hated the third act break up but loved how other characters in the series made their appearances and interacted with our couple and the little boy.
I would honestly rate this book a 3 due to multiple reasons. This book has a lot of potential but the author writing isn’t that good. My biggest complaint with this book is the fact that the characters have absolutely no chemistry or development. The author was basically trying to convince the audience that they did which I found extremely weird. every 5 pages of the book consist of the characters saying how much chemistry they had. This is practically similar to someone incorporating a smart character into their book but not knowing how to write one, so all they do is mention how smart the character is without actually showing it. The author basically had no idea how to write romance and had to save it by constantly mentioning it . I found the father and son relationship cute especially since most single dad romance consist of a little girl and it was nice to see a little change or dynamic. I also hate how the fmc sister was portrayed as the stereotypical ghetto black woman , all the way down to the way she talk to how she dressed. This isn’t really a problem either since it’s a preference but why do all of the authors book consist of pale skinned love interest. It may be a fetish or whatever but it’s kinda weird. But other then that I like how the male lead wasn’t toxic or weird in any way and I like the overall idea of the book.
Adam and Nova work great together. She's the CEO of his company, and everyone thinks she is the owner, but in truth, Adam owns Vision Tech. 7 years is a long time to tell the person you love how you feel finally. But they feared crossing that line because they worked together and respected each other. I love Adams's devotion to Nova, though she feels he is smothering her. Their dynamic changes when Rowan shows up and tells Adam he is his dad. Their connection grows and is a beautiful thing to read. I applaud Nova's strength and smarts, plus her hard work. I understand she has trust issues primarily due to her sister, but I did get irritated with her acting as if she couldn't trust Adam. Though this is just a book, I felt Rowan's pain when he lost his mom (I still think of my mom every day), but I'm glad he has his dad, Nova, and all the other couples and kids from our other books. These 3 are a family, and I'm happy they have each other. So, I loved it when he finally called Adam "Dad."
His Nova, His Everything Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2022 Nova & Adam has a boss/employee relationship… mhmm! Except secretly she is Adam’s heartbeat, too afraid to cross the line, he is just content to have her as a best friend, just been in his life; however the line is already blurry and Nova’s feelings are no different from Adam’s … Fast forward love cannot be denied because the heart wants what the heart wants… 7 years later, with a little boy showing up at his doorstep things got complicated and Nova couldn’t just leave Adam to deal with things on his own, not to mention Rowan , the 11 yrs old captured Nova’s heart. When they decided to act on their feelings things got complicated. Ugh… I absolutely love the way Adam loved Nova unapologetically, unconditionally, without her he is lost . And the way he handled the “wishlist “ was brilliant. Kanya and Alistair was my favorite in the series, but Adam is my guy! Great read!
I have read 5 books from this series and did not care for any of the books. This book was my least favorite. The writing is subpar. The ideas has potential but ultimately the storylines do not deliver. I have not found and character in any of the books that I remotely like. For instance despite working together for 7 years the hero and heroine has such a tough time being honest with one another. For a book that is over 400 pages, too little of the story is spent with the development of their love story. Rather it is wasted on an unnecessary storyline about the heroine’s wayward sister. As well as a bogus wedding, which I feel was a terrible direction to take the story. Too much effort is spent on the ridiculous thought process of the characters and their continued off base assumptions on what each other is thinking or feeling. The whole book was just frustrating and unrealistic

5/5 WHY DOES THE READING ORDER NEVER FUCKING POP UP amazon and goodreads always makes books seem like their standalone and only after i read the middle fucking book i find out it’s apart of a series
now i’m invested in this series and will be starting from the top
anyways this was SO SO SO good loved everything about it well…
the marriage thing was kinda annoying why did nova act like adam was in love with alexa knowing damn well she was just a college fling from 11 years ago, that’s what posted me off because she made it seem like they couldn’t have gotten married just to check that off the lists and give her the medical benefits while still being with nova
but i loved everything about adam, rowan, and alexa their relationship with one another is my favorite it was just so cute the progression of it and how they treated rowan

Honest Review. I liked the first half of the book. Nova in control , being independent , girl boss etc. Adam being himself , focusing on his inventions. While the first part was enjoyable , the second half of the story was so hard to read. Nova's decision to break up with Adam ? Like Who gave her the right to take a decision for him ? I felt like she should have grovelled more . And Adam should have made her grovel more . How is it fair that she sees a problem and tries to fix it by being an absolutely stupid person and then expect Adam to be all forgiving and still kept saying his wife when referring to Alexa . I couldn't even go past the page where she feels sorry for Alexa and tries to sacrifice Adam like Girl where your mind at . But overall it was an okay read. Not my favourite in the series .

I am loving me some Adam. I think I like Adam and Nova's story the best so far. They were so good together as friends and colleagues, but better as lovers and a couple. Seven years together and they were both hiding behind their feelings for each other. I'm so glad Nova decided a change was needed because they both woke up and faced their feelings even with Rowan in the picture. Rowan was such a likeable little boy and your heart broke for him having to deal with losing his mother. I'm glad that Adam took control of the situation and helped make Alexa's wishes come true without losing the woman he loved and giving her his hand in marriage. This is definitely a story I'll be reading again.

I laughed and I cried…quite often. I cried for Rowan and his mom, Alexa, as she lost her battle with cancer. For Nova, her strength is her greatest weakness. She is loyal to a fault and because of her growing up life, with her sister Lyra, she is rigid, disciplined but extremely loyal, kind and even loving. Then there’s Adam. He’s a Geek, a nerd but he’s also a man who’s been in love with a woman, Nova, for 7 years. The dynamics of these characters and their stories bring you laughter and tears! Way to go Nia Arthurs! You’ve done it again!!!
Rating: 3.9 I’m giving this book a four but I’ve read a few reviews and I feel very conflicted. Some reviews were lower. I completely understand the complaints and their reasonings. But I really like the book. I have to give it this rating because it made my heart giddy. The romance aspect of it, despite any plot faults, was just perfect for me. Seeing as how this was an interracial romance, and the female protagonist being a black woman, the gentle type of love that she experienced when she never really believed that she deserved it was so great to read, especially when I read so many books and it feels as though black women are never the people someone wants to fall in love with.
This is honestly like a 3.5 for me. I really liked it, but just liked. I felt like I just was trying to finish it. And I really wanted to love it. I’ve enjoyed this series but the last couple haven’t pulled me in like the earlier books.
Regardless Nova and Adam made for great characters and I enjoyed the boss-employee trope. The seven year angst got me, but aside from that I didn’t truly understand why Nova kept her feelings hidden. She was relatable in feeling the need to be felt and seen as a strong black woman. I also loved that Adam let her come into her feelings on her own. I’ll definitely finish the series and Island and Clay seem promising.
Woo I thought I was going to die of frustration waiting on a kiss! But it was worth it. These two circle each other for 7 years under the guise of employee and boss but never crossed the line. Nova was a powerhouse CEO that took her job, responsibilities, and professionalism very seriously. Adam is the incognito and low key company owner who is a genius at inventing cutting edge technology. Theirs was a partnership that worked and then unexpected surprises, family, blurred lines and circumventing catastrophes made the relationship come into question. Great read!
'Bossy Romance' was awesome. Its page-turning plot was filled with family dynamics, adversity, coping with death, and love. I really liked the author's writing style: engaging and believable characters, an interesting setting in and around a tech lab, vivid details and figurative language, such as, "My scalp is screaming like a teenager at a BTS concert," and, "The bags under my eyes are enough to hold an entire toolbox," and a sweet yet entertaining storyline that held my interest. Overall, I liked the captivating narrative.
I give this book five stars. Nova and Adam! Nova low-key got on my nerves 😬 but she finally figured it out in time. Adam and his country ways 🫠 Him and his use of the word darlin’… had me melting every time! I really tried to hold out hope for Lyra but you can only do so much for people. Rowan was a really cute kid! He’s high up on my list of the kids lol. That ending with Island and Clay 😳, girllllllll, what she do??? I know she didn’t call CPS and now he owns all her businesses??? I gotta start the last book 🥺
