Hey, I’m Amy,
I write books for folks who crave laugh-out-loud paranormal mysteries. I help bring humor into readers’ lives. I’ve got a Pharm D in pharmacy, a BA in Creative Writing and a Masters in Life.
And when I’m not writing or chasing around two small children (one of which is four going on thirteen), I can be found antique shopping for a great deal, getting my roots touched up (because that’s an every four week job) and figuring out when I can get back to Disney World.
If you’re dying to know more about my wacky life, here are three things you don’t know about me.
—In college I spent a semester at Marvel Comics working in the X-Men office.
—I worked at Carnegie Hall.
—I grew up in a barbecue restaurant—literally. My parents owned one.

entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series

This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. If I can cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Our main character is a middle-aged paranormal mystery author. Who recently divorced her good for nothing husband who she caught playing peeping Tom on the neighbors wife. Unfortunately a lot of different things happened That change her career. Her fans thought she could actually see and speak to ghosts and when they found out she could not they turned on her. Then her ex-husband finagled spousal support and basically drained her bank accounts. With no book sales and no income prospects coming. She decided to pack up and move to A small Tristy Laketown where she used to vacation. She rented a small cabin for the summer to write a new book and restart her career. Something happened in a mystical book fell off a shelf and hit her in the head. Suddenly she is actually able to see and speak to ghost. She is also able to do magic. Not much at first but as time goes she is learning how to control the magic more and more. Readon as she ends up helping The local monster hunter in the police solve a major mystery going on in their small town. Sometimes it’s a murder sometimes it’s just some other kind of mystical crime. Yet she’s becoming an integral part of solving the mysteries in the little town. This town is a mixture of humans and supernaturals. The supernaturals can actually see everything that’s going on including that some of the names of the stores have a more paranormal twist to the name as well as paranormal people working there. The humans only see everyone as humans and mundane every day store names. It is an entertaining and fun read. Check it out.

good read

Entertaining, light fantasy mystery about Paige, a writer of romantic fantasy books, her troublesome sister, Cammie, who has shown up to stay for an indefinite length of time, Paige’s boyfriend, Grim, who is a monster hunter, and a mysterious plague that is causing people to fall into comas. Along with trying to figure out which monster is causing the comas, Paige is trying to figure out who killed Snow, the ghost who lives in her rental cabin. Paige can see ghosts and all sorts of magical folk, a new talent she’s acquired. Paige is a likable character, the lakeside magical town she lives in is charming, and the dilemmas are intriguing, though there is no doubt that they will be unraveled, making for a pleasant, stress-free read.

"Poisoned Prose" is book two in "The Accidental Medium" series by Amy Boyles. Paige is still recovering from her recent decline in book sales and is picked to introduce an author at her local library. Her sister, Cammie, tags along and causes a ruckus everywhere that she goes. I really like the humor in this book and the characters. The bickering back and forth between Paige and Cammie had me cracking up. I like the mystery part of it, too. Where Paige and Grim were trying to figure out about the book.

As a follow-up to the first book, the story is easy to follow. Paige is still exploring and learning how to use her powers while also becoming intimately closer to Grim. But the problems in Willow Lake keep escalating. The magical book is missing, and one or more dark entities may have been released from their pages to wreak havoc in town. Paige's sister Cammie appears on her doorstep and adds more stress. Unfortunately, they are not very close, so Cammie is unaware of Paige's powers and seems clueless about the magical beings in the town. In the midst of everything, Paige is on the cusp of resurrecting her defunct career and helping Snow seems to have taken a back-burner.

Acclimated to Willow Lake and its residents, Paige is asked to introduce an author. It turns out that persons who read his work become comatose and it may be possible that he possesses the "lost" book to create this problem.

I liked both Paige and Grim from the first book. I am not sure if it is her sister or the storyline, but
I expected more. There was an initial fascination because Willow Lake took a different meaning when Paige received her powers in the first book. Now, it's reminiscent of a soap opera with a few magical elements, and her older sister Cammie is too busy flirting, freeloading and causing feuds. By the time there seems to be a breakthrough in Cammie and Paige's relationship, another bombshell snakes its way in, and readers are left wondering...how did it get to this point?

A bit of romance, mystery, intrigue, and a town with magical beings, check out Willow Lake.

The plot continues after Paige ex-husbands murderer is caught. Paige is asked to introduce a local author at a book signing at the local library and not to long after people that attended the signing are ending up in a coma. Now Paige and Grim are trying to find out what happened. On top of that the strange book that fell on Paige’s head is still not found and Paige is still trying to figure out what her powers are.

I read this after finishing the first book and read it in a day. I liked this one a lot better than the first. Paige’s character wasn’t as naive and she acted a little more adult. Her older sister shows up in this book and she is a mess all in her own self. Grim and Paige’s relationship goes a little more forward in this and I really like their dynamic together.
On to the next book.

I liked this book better than the first in the series, Witch's Block. Better character development and fun story. There are a few editing errors in the Kindle version, otherwise I would have unofficially given it a 4.5.
As Paige continues to hunt for the missing purple book that seemingly holds magical creatures in captivity, her relationship with Grim, the monster hunter, continues to develop and her sister, Cammie, shows up looking over her shoulder. Paige & Grim are tasked with solving another mystery in the town, all the while Paige is supposed to be writing her next novel and helping her ghost friend, Snow, figure out who murdered her and placed her in the missing purple book.

Had to Continue!

Considering I read the first book in a couple hours, I absolutely HAD to continue the story! Same with this, couldn't put it down because I just had to know what was gonna happen! Cute continuation of the budding romance between Paige & Grim...

On a side note/question.... is "cain't" some sort of southern slang word? It appeared several instances throughout the book (like at least 4), and when highlighted in kindle it brings you to Cain in the dictionary 😅

Magically chaotic.
Paige has just realized her magic, and now her crazy sister has appeared on her doorstep. Cammie is a whirlwind of a character and brings that energy into Paige’s life. This did an amazing job of introducing new characters and plot while finding out more about the existing characters. A wonderful cozy mystery with such a wildly unique weapon. And this leaves you on a cliffhanger ready to jump into the next book.

Accidental witch

New to these, but I'm hooked. Can't put the canned things down. Love that Amy throws different characters into the mix, but keeps the original story line in with the mix.
Long may this author keep me enthralled. Now I gotta go read the next I can hear it calling my name.

monsters come in human form whenever

There are things unknown and there is therefore the normal human issues. Both can create problems in a community. Add a crazy free willed older sister who is part hipster and trouble just seems to roll in like a storm front. See who survived the storm and read this book.

Cute and fun. I like the fact that she is interested in somebody younger than her and he is equally interested in her. I like that she allowed her sister to come and stay and it’s normal that the sister takes a little bit of advantage but she does step up and defend herself. It was really an interesting premise, too.

The introduction of sister Kami was fun in this one, even though her HATRED for magical people and threats to “shoot them” was wild… but the overall mystery with the local author and the people slipping into comas was interesting and I enjoyed this book even if I couldn’t imagine tolerating a sister like Paige’s.

Great book

So many diasters going on at the same time that I had to really focus to keep them all straight. I love this new series and what's going on between Paige and Grim. I'm anxious to see what happens next in this little paranormal town.

Really good read. Paige's sister Cammie comes to visit. Why is she here and how long is she staying? Something's fishy about her. And what's going on in town; people are falling into comas for seemingly no reason. Read this book to find these answers and more.

Poisoned Prose

Good book with great characters and a lot of action. Lo ed the mystery and suspense. Page did not scream so that was an improvement. And since her sister arrived more is happening. Good story.

Cammie

Don't we all have that one relative who can never stay out of trouble. Really enjoyed this one, the mysterious comas, the bratty sister, a little more details about Snow, and lastly things heating up with Grim. So YAY! On to book three.

I liked this book better than the first one! The interplay between Paige and her sister Cammie was fantastic and really brought Paige's character to life, and the book ends on a great hook that sets up the third book in the series.

meh

Book two is not as good as the first book in my opinion. The main character is making some odd choices in trusting the professor. Things also just happen too perfectly aligned. A little more suspension of reality is needed. Still it’s a quick and enjoyable read.

The first book in this series was by far the best so far but I did enjoy this.

I like a good, quick, funny RomCom about witches. The plot in this book was a little corny and very obvious but still entertaining.

I will read the third book soon.

This book made me glad I continued with this story. The introduction of a new character added a layer of depth that was missing in the first. It also seems the FMC has matured, some. The ending has me excited to start with the next book.

Can't Get Enough!

I really hope she will continue this series. So far it is my favorite. All the characters are so much fun and I really like having a lead character in her 40's.
