The summer after her fourteenth birthday, Cat Aston is jarred out of her sheltered life by tragedy as death visits the small town of Mason Forge. Faced with an uncertain future, Cat must face the hard truth of her friend Peter's debilitating illness, the purpose of her magical abilities, the looming threat of mortality, and the encroachment of the wider world on the safe haven she calls home.
Join Cat in her struggle before the adventure to save the world in Threadcaster as she explores what she believes in and what she wants to fight for.
It's so good to be back in Stolzer's world, and to meet Cat and Peter again. The writing makes me wish the series had been around when I was a kid so someone could read it to me before I went to sleep. Especially this installment.
The stakes are not as great as in Threadcaster, and that would make for a more relaxing read, except that the author makes it her mission to keep you on the edge of your seat.
