New Orleans. A place where it's hard to separate fact from superstition - or at least that's what Jolene Huxley finds when the unassuming small-town girl inherits a mansion in The Big Easy. Eager to leave her pained past behind, she's all too ready to start a new adventure on her own.
What Jolene finds is that she's landed herself in the middle of a war between Vampires and Werewolves that's been brewing for centuries, and the moment she meets Azreal - she knows she was fated to be right here, right now. But who were the players on both sides? Can she figure out what part she plays before it's too late?
Jolene moves to New Orleans, because she Uncle died and left her everything. There she meets Azrael who she feels a pull towards She is just trying to adjust to her new life when she thinks start to get real strange. Jo will have to make choices and fight. Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing book Love Jo she’s a strong female and her development is awesome. Amazing supporting characters. This is my first book by this author definitely not my last. Does end on a cliffhanger.
It gives The Original vibes but in a more sassy, loveable way. I'm from New Orleans, which is why it piqued my interest, and I will say this has exceeded my expectations extremely.
Witty banter. Handsome vampire. Rugged werewolf. Hell, I don't know how Jolene could choose.
The ending will have you clutching your pearls! I thought I had more chapters and ended up shaking my Ipad because it ended.
I really enjoyed the new ideas surrounding the supernatural world in this book. The character development was great. I’m really looking forward to starting the next book to continue seeing how this story develops.
This author is quickly becoming a favorite for me! This book keeps you invested until the very last word (it ends on the most heartbreaking cliffhanger) and leaves you with your mouth wide open. Jo is 23 living such a hard life but instead of letting it destroy her, she pushes and shows up for herself. The way she's so strong but so young and vulnerable was such a moving thing to read because you really feel like you're going through this journey with her. Prophecies, fated mates, and men who go from being your enemy to men who adore you? Sign me up. This book has your alpha of the wolf pack and your king of the vampires thirsting after their girl (one pun literally intended) and I couldn't get enough!! 🌶️🌶️🌶️ For spice ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for being an entertaining and enjoyable read 🫨🫨🫨🫨🫨🫨🫨 for that f****** cliffhanger 🤣🤣🤣
Vampires and werewolves collide once again in New Orleans. If you enjoy either topic with a bit of spice then this book is for you! Jo finds herself in New Orleans after a relatives death leaves her with a size able inheritance. From there she is quickly swept into a paranormal world with vamps, wolves, and witches. She find herself in the middle of a prophecy she knew nothing about and a tough choice that she must make while being pulled in every direction. Overall, I loved this book. The story telling was set at a good pace, there was a touch of spice, and the ending has me eager to read the next book.
Wow! I wasn’t sure what I expected when I signed on, but I absolutely loved every minute of that! Omg.
Jolene (great name) was perfect. Abd the love choice between Vehric and Azreal was crazy. Throughout it, I was so torn. I love vampires, they are my kin, but part of me wanted Vehric to win. Then I’m kinda like why choose and have both? But this God can't. And the way it ended....can we please talk about the fact that it made me go....Wtf!....and quite loud.
If you love wolves, vampires, and some Norse mythology all mixed in, and oh great love scenes...make sure to check this out.
First off....watch out because this book will play with your emotions in the best way! This world reminds me of a more defined and explainable twilight mixed with The Vampire Diaries. The supernatural community has so much intrigue, secrets, subtle shifts, power control, rules, loopholes, romance, fated mates....skip to say, it holds everything! You will get so caught up in the world the book flies by like it's only a novella! It holds you captive while torturing your emotions all while you beg for more!
This is the first book I’ve read from the author Taye Steele. But let me tell you, it definitely won’t be the last. The writing just draws you in from the moment you start the book until the very last line of the very last chapter. Then you sit there wondering what just happened! I was drawn into this novel based on the blurb but then it was the atmosphere and finally the aesthetic got me hook, lined and sinker.
Want to know why I love the atmosphere and aesthetic so much? Because it takes place in New freaking Orleans. Which lets be honest is a perfect place to have a supernatural/ paranormal book be centered it. Taye Steele effortlessly weaves the lore of New Orleans with the lore of her own. It was really impressive! A place that is so full of superstitions.
Jolene finally thinks her luck has changed when suddenly a mansion drops into her lap. She things it’s a chance to escape. But nothing ever goes as it should; sometimes luck can be a “witch.” (You all know what I wanted to say there) No let’s also get thrown in with vampires and werewolves. What else could possibly go wrong? Then Azreal walks in and her world is definitely thrown for a loop. Is it a force of nature that wants her here? Does she have a purpose bigger than she thinks? Or is she just losing her mind?
All I can tell you is I absolutely need book 2, right now! I really enjoyed reading this book, it was a great read. I would 100% recommend reading this book you just might find yourself in my position. Book 2!!!!!!!! ❤️📖🖤📖I now must go track down an autographed copy for my “trophy” book shelf. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
All I can say is, wow! This book was so good!! Jolene is so fiesty but you can also tell she's just a good hearted person. I loved watching Jolene come into her own as well as watching her relationships develop. I love that the book has a little bit of everything.... vampires, werewolves, witches and so much more. That ending though! Ugh so glad I can start book 2 immediately!
Thank you Taye Steele for sending me a copy to review. All opinions are my own 🥰
Let’s say this was incredible mind blowing read! Jolene and the rest of the character’s are just amazing! If you love vampires, werewolves, and witches this is a must read! Jolene has to choose between Azrael that is a vampire and Vehric that is a werewolf! Who will she choose? The whole time I wanted her to say no… I won’t, because I’m keeping both of you! That’s how much I love them both! Then we get to the end and now my my head is spinning! I’m on edge and screaming, because this cliffhanger is brutal and I need to know what happens now!
Nothing Stays dead in the south is like a fantastic blend of dark dry humor and romance with a heart pounding and thrilling undertone. The writing and characters were so well thought out I slipped into the eyes of the fmc on page one. Even the city itself New Orleans is a side character but how could it not be, if you know you know. This book captures the eerie & exciting energy of NOLA. I can't praise this book enough!
This book has me in its grasp. I was not prepared to fall head first for this series like a mate bond. It is filled with every dream I have had since falling in love with a vampire/Werewolves as a young girl. I am devouring this series. I love the intelligence and strength of the FMC while the characters developed and change as she does. I cannot reccomend this book enough.
Nothing Stays Dead in the South, is an intriguing, paranormal romance, page turner. It may take a few chapters but when you get hooked, you're hooked and going for a ride.
Jolene moves to New Orleans after her uncle passes and leaves her with his estate. While settling in she starts to learn more about the people who live there, and who she is inviting into her home and her inner circle of friends. She also learns about secrets that she was never told. We watch Jolene go through self-discovery and then left at the end making the ultimate decision, protect her new family she built, or crumble along with them.
Never Stays Dead in the South is an excellent read, it was quick page turner that you could not put down, since it always left you wanting more, or finding out what happens next. You are left with a cliffhanger that will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for book 2.
This is my first book by this author and not my last! Vampires, wolves, witches, and ALL the action and romance set in New Orleans!! It's up to Jolene to save them all and ends on one heck of a cliffhanger!!! I read this book in 3 hours it held my attention so well!
She traveled into town because a family member died! Who would have known a girl from a small town moving to a town filled with supernaturals that her life would turn upside down!!!! Loved this storyline…loved the story can’t wait to see what’s in stores for her
This book had me literally yelling at the author at 3am. I woke up my husband absolutely FURIOUS. How dare Taye write a book THIS good with THAT ending and not have the next one waiting at my fingertips? How. Rude.
But really. This book is AMAZING. Read it and love it!
