A horrific beginning. Ends with the most unexpected twist...
Marie was young, beautiful, and vibrant. Her life was cruelly taken from her. Her murderer still roams this world, potentially looking for a new prey. With Sam devoting himself to finally bringing an end to Marie's case, Emma dives further into the twisted worlds of corruption and brutality, to finally bring an end to the mystery behind Miley's disappearance… As the pieces seem to fall into place to bring an end to the cases FBI Agent Emma Griffin has been chasing, unexpected people come into her life.
The question is… what are their true motives ? Who or what do you believe?
All questions are ready to be answered. All the mysteries lead to one twisted and shocking conclusion. There's a storm brewing around Emma Griffin. Will she get through the eye of the storm or get swept up into utter destruction?
I just love Emma and the rest of the characters in this series. I especially liked seeing them more as real people in this book, specifically her husband and jealousy over her newly found cousin Dean. Xavier is such a wonderful character too. It's a complicated, ongoing story, with other stories being entwined and going on simultaneously. There just isn't a dull moment. Learning more about the Emperor was good. This book had kind of a different tone since Emma is not working a case at the same time but it's still lively with lots of action. I'm always coming to the end of the book looking for more. Great series!
I’ve really enjoyed the Emma Griffin series. I literally flew through this series. The Girl and the Twisted End answered a host of questions and opened the door for a whole new series of books which I intend to read. I hope the new series brings us more of Xavier. I love his quirky intellect, and vulnerable yet highly intelligent character. He’s definitely an unsung hero.
I love reading the Emma Griffin FBI Series. It's like visiting old friends. Of course this is the 21st book in the series and I have read them all, I guess that's why I feel like I am visiting an old group of friends.
A. J. Rivers gave us a more personal look at Emma's, Sam's and Dean's relationship this time. He showed us jealousy from Sam. Emma standing up for herself, which really isn't anything new. Dean being a little caddy with Sam. There's ongoing mysteries from previous books. Xavier still has his baby sourdoughs processing.
Rivers is still showing great character development with all the characters even though she's on the 21st book in this series. She comes up with new mysteries. There are still ongoing mysteries from previous books, but a couple come to an end. Rivers ended this one on a cliff hanger. I need to get the next book, so I know who the woman is!!!
If you haven't read her Emma Griffin FBI Series, I don't know what you are waiting for. I do suggest you start at the beginning. That way you know what is going on and who all the characters are and how they relate to Emma.
Book Review: The Girl and the Twisted End by A.J. Rivers
Rating: 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 Genre: Thriller Published: 7/24/22
Review: what a great ending to the series. I will admit that I will miss hearing about Emma, but glad to hear that Dean will be getting his own series, so I am sure she will be making an appearance in those books. This was just what we needed to wrap up everything that Emma has been working on. Overall, I really enjoyed reading the entire series and definitely recommend!!

Look. I thought this was the last book of the series. Why? I don’t remember where I got that info, but I know I did and it was WRONG. However, I did not know it was wrong into the LAST FRICKING PAGE. Which, I guess explains why ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happens for the first 38% (according to my app) of the book. There is so much blah, blah, blah, taking showers, blah, theorizing, narrative. Jeesh! I swear I skimmed most of it because it was going NO WHERE. This series was sooo good at the beginning and I resent the fact that I got sucked into the characters and their lives. Will I read the next one? Yes, grudgingly and with the hope that it gets back to the old days of great storytelling and STUFF HAPPENING. Plus, of course it ends on a cliffhanger. If only I hadn’t read the last two pages.
This was a wonderful and exciting ending to season 3 of “The Girl Who” series. Two of Emma’s cases come to an exciting and very satisfying end. A major character is badly injured but survives! ( I will not tell you who because that would spoil your reading enjoyment) I will say that A. J., as usual, leaves you with a teaser ending that will surely be the focus of next season. She also tells us that there will be a third series starting which focuses on Dean! I can’t wait to read that one. You should read the series or at least all of season 3 in order to truly enjoy this book. I received an ARC copy of this book, This is an honest review.
Book 21 is breathless, fast-paced, and a bit confusing (it's often necessary to read at least the previous Emma book before diving into the current one; for this one, going back at least to 16 would likely help...) but it's one that drags you in and in the end it delivers.
All I want from AJ Rivers is more about Emma's friend and Dean's housemate, Xavier. I always slow down and parse his viewpoints. I'm not sure how she created such a unique character but as long as he's involved, I'll keep reading!
I have read and enjoyed all of A.J. Rivers' books, and was feeling a little letdown by the first half of "The Girl and the Twisted End." There were a lot of backstories and inner monologues that were tying up multiple storylines, but at what seemed to be a snail's pace.
Then came the second half! The action, the tension, the revelations and the surprises come hurtling off the pages like hailstones. By all means, read this book. Just not right before trying to sleep. It'll take a bit for your pulse to settle.
Read in 2022 - my favorite thing about this series is being introduced to Xavier. He is one of the best characters I have read about, I loved reading the character development for him.
But for this book, it was a good read. I didn’t care for how everything was revealed at the end. The first 85-90% seemed kind of slow and boring. A lot of parts and chapters almost seemed pointless but at least at the end, you finally get the answers to the cases Emma has been working on for so long.

The Girl and the Twisted End(Emma Griffin FBI Mystery Book 21)
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!I so wanted to finish this book but at the same time, I didn't want it to end. It was exciting, sad, scary, and happy. Jonah has been caught, Emma has wrapped up all of her cases and Sam gave Marie back her good name. Sam almost died, but he survived and also helped a police department weed out bad cops and take down a bad company. Wow amazing.
This book was absolutely wonderful and so well written - I couldn't put it down. So many loose ends were tied up. I am keeping my fingers crossed to more Emma Griffin stories and also looking forward to the "Dean" series. I highly recommend all 21 books in this series as well as the 3 book stand alone Emma Griffin series. A.J Rivers is such a great author & her stories are riveting.
Mixed vibes on this one, ending up really good, though
There is a lot of over-discussion, preachy conversation and unnecessary repetition in the first half of this book. I almost gave up, but something kept me flipping pages wanting to find out if anything worthwhile happened. Yes, it did. In the end the answers to many of the running entanglements were laid completely open and I was happy. And, as usual, the last paragraph leaves us holding on for the next 7-volume serial.
Again Agent Emma Griffin is busy as heck. She is still investigating the Emperor and all that is involved with him when she is also helping her husband out with his own investigation of his cousin's death. She is also always thinking about Jonah in the back of her mind. She is Super Woman! I highly recommend this book, but start with the first of the series!😀
So much happens in this book that you have to stop and think about the other books in the series. Yes, all my questions were answered, but in order to understand everything, I really think you have to read the books in order. I really like mysteries and AJ Rivers doesn’t disappoint.
Emma Griffin has a lot to unravel. Did "the Emperor" Sal Marini die of natural causes or murder? What happened to Miley? And, of course, tracking down her uncle Jonah. Then Sam taking time off to uncover what really happened to his cousin, Marie. So much packed into this story and a perfect read. I recommend.
I’ve read the whole series and enjoy the characters. I do find myself wishing that some of the editing were tighter. More then once I found myself muttering, “you already told me that”. I appreciate that the author writes and releases these books frequently so I think it’s a trade off. For my friends that lean towards literature this series may not be for you. For those that can read past some of the extraneous background, you will love the characters and the story.
After reading all of the previous books, I was disappointed with this one. The author took to long rehashing information and it was hard to read and stayed focused. However on page 150, the speed of the book picked up and the remainder of the book was very interesting. So if you start the book and are getting bored, skip forward to page 150.
I've truly enjoyed the Emma Griffin ,FBI series so far. I was really impressed with the way she managed to get three mysteries solved in this book. It's nice to have some closure, especially regarding her uncle, hopefully this is the end of him. I'm looking forward to more mysteries with Emma and her family.
I can't even with this series. How it goes on and on and on and on and did I say on! I LOVE the characters, Emma, Sam, Dean, Xavier, Bellamy and Eric, but maybe stick to one crime a book and stop dragging everything out. Won't be reading another book in this series and as much as I was looking forward to the Ava series, I don't think I will waste my time with that either!
A very good series. Love the eclectic characters, and interesting plot twists. I devoured the books so fast I decided to reread them & am savoring the slightly slower pace this time round. I hope more come out soon. I’m also looking forward to the new series’s for Dean, and for Ava.
Another cliff-hanger ending to, again, a twisted tale.
I wonder what happened to Marini’s sister, tho, and whether his assets were ever “repatriated” to the biological sister; who were Marini’s audience and where are they now; and what lies ahead for Emma and Sam?
Emma finally gets what she has been thinking about for over a year. She also solves the horrible investigation she took on because of her uncle. Some of the dealings were very difficult to think about. The story was interesting and I had to keep reading to find out what happened.
This is why I keep reading this series. I'm blown away at the hoe many twists and turns this took and it all just blended so well. This could possibly be my favorite so far. Definitely worth reading them. Start at the beginning, because it brings you so close to the characters that it is as though you are walking through it all with them.
This is a story of a world most are not familiar with. A world of danger and the degree of mental instability throughout. The extent of evil and narcissism is truly overwhelming that it exists to this degree. This is a story that will stay with you and hopefully not give you nightmares
The web around Marini is thicker than Emma anticipated. She's been looking for more about his life so she can put it all in a box and weld it shut. But there's so much more than she thought.
Sam goes back to Michigan to find out what happened to his cousin, Marie, and her story is fascinating.
I will need to reread a few chapters, from the time Emma got the call on Sam, to when Dean calls. I cried through those parts. After reading all the books, you become so wrapped up In thinking the characters are family. So noe must read the next books. Great series.
This novel was the end of season three in the Emma Griffin series. All threads were tied off. Tomorrow morning I’m baking cinnamon rolls. Reading about them in so many books in the series has made me crave them. I enjoyed the Dean Steele series as well as this one and I’m looking forward to reading more Emma Griffin books.
Emma finally gets free from Jonah, but what she had to go through was amazing. First with his note “End it” She has to investigate Marini a dead man. She has to prove all the murders he did. And then finds out people she knows were part of it. Great story. Thank you for your writing.
I love this series and I can't wait for the next "season" to begin with all new mysteries. This book gave a satisfying end to at least three long story lines. They were worth the wait.
