What does a lifestyle guru do when her life starts to fall apart?
Alia Dubey is being stalked. The problem is no one believes her. Not the cops, not her family…and well, she doesn’t really have any friends.
Until the day her sister calls in a favour and asks her friend from the Intelligence Bureau to check on Alia and the gifts she’s been receiving.
Officer Avinash Rathore has better things to do than babysit a spoilt socialite with delusions of danger. Until he walks in to find her home broken into and an innocuous bouquet of red roses placed there. While everything points to an obsessed lover, Avinash’s instincts are screaming that there is more at play.
The gifts keep arriving, escalating from roses to far more sinister things…each with an intimate note hinting at a personal agenda. But whose?
The police have a primary suspect – Alia herself. They’re convinced she’s mentally ill and the one planting the evidence that points to a stalker.
But Avinash knows there is more. Far from mentally ill, the ditzy socialite he’d expected to meet is incisively intelligent, staggeringly attractive and devastatingly dangerous to his otherwise sensible mind.
They find themselves in a race against an unknown opponent who has only one thing in their mind – to destroy Alia’s life and leave her standing in the ruins.
And then Alia goes missing. And Avinash realizes that he stands to lose not just the race but, everything. For the ditzy socialite, the one who is All Kinds of Wrong for him is suddenly the only one who can make his world Right again.
Shilpa Suraj wears many hats - corporate drone, homemaker, mother to a fabulous toddler and author.
An avid reader with an overactive imagination, Shilpa has weaved stories in her head since she was a child. Her previous stints at Google, in an ad agency and as an entrepreneur provide colour to her present day stories, both fiction and non-fiction.
Alia is been stalked by someone. The police do not believe her and feel she is making up stories. Her sister asks her friend Avinash to help her. Avinash is on a vacation. But he accepts to help Alia as a favour to her sister. Avinash thinks this is something other than just a love-stuck stalker. He also hires round-the-clock security for Alia. In between all this Avinash and Alia are attracted to each other but don't want to confess their feelings. And one day Alia goes missing.
Who is the stalker? Will Alia be back home? Is Alia mentally sick? Will Avinash ever be able to confess his feelings?
This was a complete package of suspense, thrill, love and laughter. The suspense kept me hooked till the end. Oh, I kept guessing who the stalker was, All my guesses were wrong. I loved the banter between Avinash and Alia. The supporting characters add depth to the story. I enjoyed reading the concept of chakras and happiness. Overall a fun n engaging read. Highly recommended
I did not have the patience when my Kindle kept shouting for a charger. I didn’t put it in charge. I was on edge all through the book. And, the battery of my kindle went away with Alia.
That was the only spoiler you can afford if you want to enjoy the book😉😉
The book made me laugh, made me feel what love is and it also scared me out of my wits. None of the characters in this book are flawless, and that is what makes them real. They are like people living around us. It felt like I was really living in the world of Alia and Avinash.
Alia, a powerful character. She had the guts to accept her failures and flaws. She achieved everything on her own despite the inner battle she fought daily. A facade for the people which she couldn’t keep in front of Avinash. He waded through the walls she had built around herself. Would she let herself be herself once more, for him, for them?
Avinash, a mature and tough guy, who knew how to stand on his ground. It took him a lot of patience to bring Alia out of her shell. And, it took him more than anything to accept his feelings for the type of girl he had never imagined to meet. Alia was a non comfort zone for him. Would he leave all his apprehensions behind and be with the girl Alia was?
And top of it all we have a stalker, an opponent who exists at one moment and turns out to be non-existent at another. The suspense, the romance, the humour, all three elements will keep you hooked till the end. No cliche scene between the main characters, just pure romance, a bliss which is love.
Shilpa Ma’am, in all her books, has written those characters, which are not perfect yet perfect in their own way, like all of us are. Her humour has done wonders yet again. There were some scenes which couldn’t have been more hilarious. Her “show not tell” talent is to die for. I loved every bit of the book. I didn’t feel it get stretched at any point. Everything seemed related. The story, the plot and the characters, were all relatable.
I am thrilled to have read this book. I am waiting for more such books from you Ma’am. Please keep entertaining us with your humour.
oh my god, this book by Shilpa Suraj is such a masterpiece that it will not let you relax till you have finished reading it. Usually, when you are reading mystery, thriller, or romance books, at some point during the book you get bored, or skip a few pages coz the its may be describing something and skipping that wouldn't matter, or, the main plot is overshadowed by the romance or chemistry between the protagonists. However, shilpa made sure that you don't even get a thought like that when you are reading this book because she wants you to enjoy it from beginning to end. She methodically and skilfully painted the plot in such a manner that you find yourself immersed in the story, down to every second and letter.
constructing a persona. (I want to know Shilpa's thoughts when she created Alia.)
When a lady's beauty is appreciated, some people would comment that God "must have taken his time making her." This also applies to Alia, the main character. When Shilpa made Alia, what was she thinking? She's really amazing. Despite her many odd traits, such as her anxiety, difficulties trusting others, skepticism toward romantic relationships, OCD, and desire for seclusion, this girl stands out from the rest.
Do you see AIR? We can't see air but we can feel it, and romance in this book is like that: you can sense it but you can't actually see it. In contrast to the current tendency in romance novels—in which chemistry, hotness, closeness, and all the rest are the ones that rule—Shilpa wrote a book in which none of these factors mattered so long as the protagonists' hearts beat for one other.
lastly, I'd like to say ... shilpa has excellent writing skills.. I love them...
Shilpa: can you please message me your answer , What did you research .... for this book.... I very much want to know because.. you are all over the globe... german, italian, japanese, norweigen, and what not...... ur just something....
I got attracted towards this book because of the captivating cover and the intriguing blurb that had me preordering this book to read. And as soon as it landed in my kindle I jumpes to read it. Then once I started, I was hooked and finished it in one sitting!
Chills ran down my skin as I followed clues to solve the mystery of the devious stalker who didn't leave any trail behind but was determined enough to take dangerous risks as he frightened Alia. So much so that even the Police was not believing her.
So, the suspense portion of the book is done admirably. The twists and turns were unexpected. And I could not guess the identity of the stalker. The thrill element also kept me on edge frightened yet intrigued to know what happened next!
I adored Alia and Avinash. Plus was also thrilled to meet Aria and Karan again. The romance is heartfelt and clean. There are no explicit intimate scenes and despite that the author managed to get my heart involved in the love story of the protagonists. And I enjoyed every second spent cheering and then sighing ovet their romance.
This book is a complete package that not only kept on edge through its nail biting suspense but also made me laugh and then cry as I followed the protagonists.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this splendid romantic thriller that is definitely one of my best reads of this year.
Book: All Kinds of Wrong: An opposites attract romantic thriller Author: Shilpa Suraj Formate: Kindle version Pages: 252 Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thriller and mystery are not easy genres to script as keeping a reader hooked to them throughout is difficult but in this book Shilpa achieved it quite efficiently. From the first page itself, you will experience the plot building which is strong and interesting. And as the story flows you will involve yourself in it and then there is no return. Finish the book or go crazy to learn the end.
Alia Dubey is not a simple character to pen down, she is a boring, colorless life, diet conscious, into herself, no friends, no boyfriend, no relationships, and traumatic childhood, and with all these flaws she is a lifestyle guru. Yes, you read it right, a lifestyle guru.
Now imagine when the life of a lifestyle guru is messed up, she is in utter tension, and there is a threat 24*7, how exactly her story will be??? Quite intrigued, isn't it??
She is receiving strange parcels which are full of horror, terror, and fear. People won't believe her as she didn't have proof of her alibi and in all this chaos she met Avinash Rathor who entered her broken house to welcome himself with a flying 👠. I know sounds very mad and strange but that's how they met.
The story has a beautiful romance quotient but it's invisible, you can feel it throughout but can't see it with open eyes, also the different relations and bonding scripted are very apt and adorable.
The mystery and horror are fantastic, the end is mind-blowing, and the best part is you will not be able to guess the suspense till the last page of the case. You will be hooked to it until the finish and then you will be blown by the reveal of the truth.
Alia is being stalked by someone and it's getting difficult for her. Her sister is worried and sends her friend Avinash to help her. Alia, who had a terrible childhood doesn't believe in relationships. With no past relationships, no enemies, and not many acquaintances, who can be the stalker?
All kinds of Wrong by Shilpa Suraj is a thrilling story of love, loss, hope, trauma and tragedies. Loved the plot of the story, filled with twists and drama that readers are going to enjoy. The story gets more engrossing with every event, making the readers curious about who can be the stalker. Shilpa keeps the element of curiosity throughout with some unexpected twists.
With a crisp descriptive narrative and gripping writing style, it's a pleasant read filled with lots of drama. I loved the bond Alia and Avinash shared.
Shilpa shares about Alia’s childhood, her relationship with her mother and sister and how her childhood has been. Avinash, who initially didn't like Alia, now tries to not fall in love with her, and falls for her every time he meets her. Does she love her? Is her life really in danger? What will happen next?
Loved the way the plot is developed and how the mysteries of both characters are revealed, layer by layer, Shilpa adds spice to the story making it intense and pleasing at the same time.
You'll feel proud of Alia’s journey, Avinash’s way of solving the case, the sister's bond, how friends become family and how money makes a person do wrong things. Each character is brilliantly developed by the author.
It's a fast-paced story with a smooth flow of words. The candidness in her writing style makes one connect to the characters and their journeys easily.
Romantic thriller is a genre that always excites me because of the fact that it combines two of my favorites. This story is told in a wonderful manner and I liked how Shilpa keeps you hooked through the pages with the gifts and the notes as they come along, and as a reader you are intrigued to find out what happens next. The plot has been crafted nicely and the thrill in the story continues till the very last page, and if you like to play detective, there are quite some moments where you can make your mark. The letters and the symbols are very nicely planned and I liked the way they appear in the plot to push it forward. The Harry Potter references are very interesting and as a Potterhead, that made the story a tad bit fun to read. The romance, unlike Shilpa’s other works, is subtle and does not overpower the primary plot of the story. The devil for this story truly lies in the details, and right from the word go, the details in the story are very fine and in retrospect, the events do start making sense. The climax is very well done and the way it jumps out and the person is revealed is interesting.
The people part of this story are equally interesting and I loved the way Shilpa develops the quirks in the characters, especially Alia. The all-white description and the way she behaves is very well described and the visuals are easy to imagine. I also liked the way she developed Avinash’s character and his conflict with himself till the end. The other characters are good, and I specially would like to mention the way she created Uncle Richard, and how she highlights the fact that the past never truly leaves us, whatever we might think.
Alia Dubey is being stalked, but the police refuse to accept her claim seriously owing to lack of evidence. Alia’s elder sister Aria requested her friend Avinash Rathore to help crack this mystery and catch the stalker; Avinash worked in the Indian Intelligence Agency and is on a month’s leave from work.
Alia is as weird as a person can get, always dressed in white from head to toe, with a home looking like snow; owned a lifestyle consulting firm that helped celebs align their chakras. Alia does not have friends, never have been in a relationship, not even acquaintances in her apartment; there are no known or unknown foes.
The stalker seemed harmless until an eye is sent to Alia in a parcel; will Avinash be able to find and restrain the stalker before he/she gets to Alia? Will two completely opposite personalities like Avinash and Alia fall in love, in the middle of a tense life situation, forms the rest of the story.
Alia Dubey is Aria Dubey’s younger sister, whose story was covered in the earlier book in the series — The Right Kind of Wrong. I earlier read and loved the story of Aria and Karan and while I expected both to have supporting characters in this story, I am glad Karan has an important part in the second half of this book.
The characters of Alia and Avinash are the strength of the story as Alia carries a certain aura of intrigue that will keep the reader hooked to the narration. The story buildup in the first half also keeps the reader guessing about the identity of the stalker. As with every book, author Shilpa weaves a back story of childhood abuse of Alia and how her mother’s nonchalance and her own mental agony affected her adult life.
However, I would have liked more logic in few sequences involving the stalker as the narrative depends too much on Avinash and Karan’s ability to keep Alia safe and catch the stalker instead of using technology, like install CC cameras at her home and office. If these can be ignored, the story entertains thoroughly with strong protagonists and a racy narration.
Shilpa Suraj is another fav author, who's books I enjoy reading... her sense of humour is amazing and inspite of this book being a thriller, there are a few instances here and there that made me smile.
Alia, is being stalked, but the police are not taking it seriously, to the extent that they feel there's no stalker and she needs medical help
In comes officer Avinash Rathore, a friend of her sis and bil, who's on a holiday .... who figures there is someone troubling her, who trusts his instincts about Alia, who's surprised and amazed to know about her profession but slowly falls for her while solving the mystery
Once I started reading, I cudnt put the book down, it just got interesting as it moved forward and I had to read it till the end.... My most favorite part of the book was the use of those lovely words/ phrases in different languages, with their meanings so beautifully explained...I need to make a list and use them wherever I can 😃
Another interesting read from the author, which I suggest you shudnt miss ❤️❤️
All Kinds of Wrong is Shilpa Suraj’s latest book. The second book of the series, this book is unputdownable. The characters are realistic, relatable, be it beautiful Alia or Avinash. Alia is different from the main leads that we read, she is a complex character. The characters from the previous book in the series keep the continuity going. The plot starts like a movie, a stalker and roses, and believe me the suspense does not get over till the end. You are hooked and even after the book is over, you keep thinking about it. The language is simple and the story just flows. The story has so many elements, sibling love, romance, friendship, loyalty, obsession and mystery. I was travelling while I was reading the book, and was anxious for the layover to be over so that I could complete the book. The sibling bond between Aria and Alia has been beautifully handled as also the friendship between Avinash and Karan. A must, must read.
This was SUCH A GOOD BOOK!!!! Shilpa absolutely nailed this book! 😭 She had me guessing about the mystery throughout the book, the romance was so cute, the characters were so amazing!!! I loved loved loved it!
To be veryyyyyy honest, I definitely liked this one better than the previous book in the series. I am not saying this to bash the other book, especially I really liked the plot there too, but out of the four books I've read from Shilpa Suraj, the last three, aka the first two books in Shades of Midnight trilogy, and All Kinds of Wrong, I definitely saw a very much better pacing and story on a whole. Love that about Shilpa! ❤
The best part of the book is the way suspense is build into the narrative. It is chill inducing, nail biting and so well-written. So is the romance. The emotional intimacy between the leads despite the tension around them is poignant and beautiful. I totally bought into it. Truly one of the best book pairs, for me. The individual characterisation is also simply good. Alia is a character that is going to stay with me for long.
"All Kinds of Wrong" by Shilpa Suraj is an exciting story. It's about love, loss, hope, trauma, and sad events. The main character is Alia. She's dealing with a scary problem: someone is following her, making her very scared and weak. Alia's sister is very worried about her, so she asks her friend Avinash to help. But Alia doesn't trust people easily because she had a tough childhood.
The tricky part is, Alia doesn't know who is stalking her because she doesn't have enemies or many friends. So, it's a big mystery.
Shilpa Suraj writes this story with lots of surprises and suspense. You'll keep wondering who the stalker could be. Suraj keeps you interested from start to finish, throwing in unexpected twists.
The book is easy to read, and Suraj describes things really well. The friendship between Alia and Avinash is heartwarming and adds a nice touch to the story.
"All Kinds of Wrong" isn't just a love story; it's also an exciting journey about how people stay strong in tough times and keep hoping for better days.
This one is a perfect Romance thriller. The whole plot carries an air of suspense. All the twists and turns kept me intrigued and just when I thought they have it all figured out a new twist rolled out. The banter between protagonists is as usual witty and fun infact this time it's multi lingual. The understanding between protagonists is kind of sweet and adorable...I loved reading quiet conversations that Avinash and Alia had.
