What can I say about me? I have two boys who keep me on my toes and a cat who adopted us. She walked in one day and hasn’t left. We might be getting a dog too. Who knows?

I love to read about men in love. Flawed, but strong men, who need some TLC and find their happy ending. I love to write about those same type of men too, sometimes with added kink! I also love to read horrors, thrillers and crime novels.

When I’m not trying to keep my boys in line, or writing about hot sexy men, I like to work on my allotment. I also like to read, to take walks in the countryside, and visit historical places. Recently, we went to Stonehenge and Avebury. It was an amazing experience.

I would have liked a little more to this one. It's a cute book with a lot happening in a short time. Zach is so good with the kids but struggling at work and trying to keep everything together. John is an ass of a boss. Always wanting more from the employees! I really didn't like him at first but he did redeem himself . I would have liked to have seen a little more of John and what made him tick.
Nice story!

I was planning to give 4 stars to this book and then ALL WAS RUINED at 88% !!!!! Really, I can't believe it!! Is a perfect enemies to lovers in a nice slow burn pace… but then… when it supposed to start the nice ending part ‘Plot twist’ : The two characters act like total assholes and the story lost the sense. I totally thought that I was reading another book! I'm so mad :((((

This was a 3.5 stars for me.

So hear me out on this one. This is the first book I've read by this author. An the story has so much going for it but it just need so much more. I mean it's a good story for one character but kind of fell flat for me for the other character.

Zach has just graduated and is looking for a job. With the debt he has he will take anything he can get right now. He has a degree in business but nothing seems to be working for him. His only family is his sister and brother in law an their kids. He loves them with everything he has. And they love him just as much. Then he gets the best news he had in a while, Zach finally gets a job. It's not the one he wants but he will take what he can. Try it and see what happens. First few weeks on the job and he isn't sure it's worth it. Callers are rude and sometimes just mean as can be, but then there's his boss John. He treats Zach like crap. Always telling him that he's messing up and needs to do better. Zach doesn't understand what he's doing wrong but he isn't going to give up. Then one night at work he gets the most unthinkable news. His sister and brotherinlaw have been in a terrible accident. They didn't make it. Zach is so lost on what to do. His heart is broken but he has to be there for the kids. He steps up and does the best he can but he feels like nothing can go right.

Now we know all of this about Zach.
But all we really get to find out about John is that he's Zachs boss. An he wants Zach like no other man he has ever met. I mean John has been so rude and mean so why would he want to help Zach or be with him? I mean it just comes out of the blue.

This is where the story fell for me. I mean the story and writing was good but I just needed more from John. I'm hoping we can get a book from Johns pov.

I have no idea what this book is supposed to be. The first 20% of the novel was sweet, then it's like the author decided to write a whole other story with altered characters. No one is fleshed out except maybe Zach - what is John besides Zach's boss and eventual love interest (and THAT seemed so forced I skipped over all the strangely-aggressive-for-such-a-short-aquaintenceship sex)? The inevitable misunderstanding leading to angst was just stupid, and the subsequent MC behaviour just killed the book for me: you don't do that stuff if you're supposedly in love, even if you just broke up with them.
This book was all surface with no depth. BTW, I have kids, and even in a book you don't let the kids get away with Oliver's behaviour, dead parents or no.

This is a very emotional story at first, at 25 percent I was in tears,Zach's grief as he looked at his sister's dead body was overwhelming, even though I knew it was coming. His struggles afterwards, trying to care for his two little nephews, was so hard to read. The ups and downs of having a relationship with your boss takes a heavy toll on Zach and when the shit hits the fan he feels like he's done, but will John fight for him? Great writing, heartbreaking, then, intense, and then heartbreaking again, perfection!

Apparently it's my week for just OK stories. This one is about a guy who goes through great personal loss and then has to deal with a boss who is kind of an asshat - but of course he just falls into his arms. Once again, I struggled with the instant "love" with these two guys. Lust? Yes, that I buy. Love? Not so much.

2.5 stars. I feel that, by the end of the book, I knew nothing more about John than I did in the beginning. There was no emotional connection for the main characters which is a shame because everyone else of importance had great personality, including the characters that died in the first couple of chapters.

Title: Terrible Twos
Author: Megs Pritchard

4 unexpected stars

I don’t often indulge in M/M genre novels, mostly because it’s not my go to genre, however, when I read Megs Pritchard’s blurb to Terrible Twos, I was intrigued. And i’m glad that I did read it; it was adorable and heartfelt in ways that I didn’t expect. Zach is a 22 year old gay man who just graduated from university and is struggling to find a job in the field he studied, but when the opportunity for a position in a call centre opens, he applies for it and gets it. *sounds pretty standard, right?* however, a few weeks into his new job, he gets a call informing him of the death of his last remaining relative, his sister, who he was very close to, and her husband. Needing to take care of the situation on his own, and now a newly single father to his two nephews under the age of two, Zach also has the unbearable pressure of his boss John to perform better and faster, knowing he hates him. It’s when John calls Zach on the worst possible night that things change between the both of them, feelings they didn’t want to admit coming out in the light of day.

4 breath taking dreams

I teared up more than once while I read Terrible Twos: it was heart wrenching and had me thinking how death can impact so many lives and not just one. I enjoyed watching the love and relationship between Josh and Zach unfold, to see how hate turns into something more heartfelt but not without its difficulties. While it wasn’t the most sexually explicit novel i’ve read, Megs Pritchard has a way of weaving a tale that makes you feel it. I would absolutely read more from her in the future and see how she will wrench your heart.

Love the cover! Hot guy and cute babies? Is there anything better?

Ok, so, in this one, we have Zach, the story is told from his POV. We first meet him when he’s twenty-two and fresh out of college. He’s been looking for a job for the last couple months when he gets a job at a call center, helping people with their phone’s, he’s balancing work, his tiny one-bedroom apartment and spending time with his sister, nephews and brother in law. The job is going well and everyone seems really nice, except for one of the bosses, John.

John’s is the definition of a jerk in the beginning. He’s constantly harping at Zach, getting onto him for everything and telling him off for different things, Zach doesn’t understand what he’s done wrong but he keeps quiet for longer than I would’ve, that’s for sure!

Then, the unthinkable happens, Zach loses his sister, the only bit of family he had left, she and her husband Stu, who we’d really gotten to know and love, neither one made it. That left his two young nephews, Oliver and Joe…. Zach took them on and tried to get over losing his sister while trying to figure out this single parent business on top of keeping John off his back for everything under then sun…. Then, one day, a phone call from John, berating him yet again for something or another, he finally snaps…

John completely flips the script on him, maybe he’s not a bad guy after all. He really helps Zach out with the boys, which was nice. I didn’t really feel a connection between them, it was just kind of like hooking up until one of them said, let’s get together. I just wasn’t feeling it. I mean, don’t get me wrong, they were hot together when they were “together”, but…. I dunno, maybe it was just me?

Then, someone at work steps in and tries to create problems, which was ridiculous and unbelievable how it was handled…I couldn’t believe who it ended up being and the reasoning was just….blah. It got worked out in the end, so I guess, all’s well that ends well…

I would have liked to have seen things progress more for Zach though, like them getting out of their small apartment or John and Zach’s relationship to develop a bit more, it left room for another book possibly, but, I’m not sure it’ll happen and if that’s where it ended, it’s wasn’t a very satisfying ending…

Maybe I’m being too critical, because it was a nice little story with quite a bit of conflict and we did get a lot of cuteness from the babies, (especially potty training, Oliver, so accurate!) which if you read any of my reviews, ever, you’ll know I’m a sucker for hot guys and cute babies… but for some reason, I was just on the fence with it. Overall, not a bad story though.

3 stars for me.

Terrible Two's is both a quick novella, as well as a bit emotional. I love the single dad trope. It's always fun to explore, it's also a bit heartbreaking. I don't like seeing the hero of the story torn a part between what they think is right and what is actually right for them.

Zach is sweet, almost innocent in his was. All he wants is to visit his sister and nephews and get a job. What he doesn't plan on is his boss being a jerk and his sister leaving him with his young nephews to care for.

I felt so much for Zach because he didn't deserve the hand he was dealt. And to top it off it seemed John hated him more and more each day. Of course there is a fine line between love and hate. So what is John's problem?

What you get is a typical love story between two people who want to be together but outside forces help keep them apart.

I was able to read this novella within the span of an afternoon. Which is good because I needed a quick read that would help get my mind off of things.

Megs Pritchard wrote an easy hot read that I suggest if you are looking for something to keep you entertained for a few hours.

This is my first book by this author.

This is the story of Zach. He's newly out of university and struggling to find a job. His only source of support is his sister. There's just him and her and Zach adores her. She's just had a new baby and already has a toddler that Zach dotes on. Unfortunate events lead to Zach having to look after his Nephews. He's just found his first job and is struggling to juggle everything. His new boss isn't helping either finding any chance he can to pick at Zach's work. Zach is close to breaking point. When he does finally break an unexpected friend is there to help.

I found the start of this book a little slow going maybe going into too much detail about his job but i still found i wanted to find out what happens to Zach. I really liked Zach and i also really liked John but i felt i didn't really know too much about them. I have to be honest and say I'd have rather read about their pasts rather than Zach's job training and telecommunications info. I think because there isn't much info i didn't fully connect with them. You virtually have no background on John whatsoever and i get this was told from Zach's POV but i would have liked to know more about John's family and past.

I liked the storyline and where it was supposed to go. Zach's relationships with his nephews made me chuckle in parts as most parents will relate to their adventures. I also liked his relationship with John and the sex scenes were pretty hot too.

There's lots to like in this book but i just felt it missed the mark. I'm a little frustrated with it because it's all there it just needs more connecting. I felt as though bits were missing. It's a reasonably short book so i think more could have been added in. As I've said more background and also more about the things that go on towards the end at work. That stuff felt a little out of nowhere. It ended abruptly too, i was trying to flip the page but there wasn't any more to it.

It was just ok for me.

This is my first book by this author and overall, I will give it 3.5 stars.

This story is about Zach, who is a newly graduated guy looking for a job. He is single, and his only family is his sister, brother in law and two nephews. He and his sister are very close since their mother died and they depend on each other for support. Zach finds a job for a tele-communications center of sorts, where he encounter's a jerk of a man named John. Zach starts his job and is in training, and in the midst of his new job his life is turned upside down and he is left to raise his nephews. John is a jerk who seem's to have it out for Zach, nit picking every little thing he does or doesn't do. At times it is all Zach can do to keep his sanity, especially with John on him ALL the time

This book is totally from Zach's POV. It was slow going in the beginning, and a ton of detail was given about his job, which, honestly, I found to be a bit tedious. John's personality, even when he was trying not to be a jerk, was almost a little unbearable for me. And some of his actions towards Zach I found to be......kinda shitty, if I am being honest. John was not my favorite character and I think Zach deserved better. Since this was entirely Zach's POV you get nothing really, on who John is and I think it would have went a long way for me to get to know him better, from his POV.

When you got away from the ins and outs of the job, and these two were together, the book was enjoyable. Despite the stuff that goes down at work (which, I think could have been weaved in a little better, had we had more from John's POV), these two are able to get what one could call, a HFN. The ending was rather...sudden, with no real conclusion. So, while I mostly liked this book, there were several things I wish had been different with the story. It was a rather short read, but was just ok for me.

This was the first Megs Pritchard book I have read and I really enjoyed it. The story was a rollercoaster of emotions, one moment my heart was breaking, then I was in fits of laughter through to heartfelt happiness. This book was very well written and the plot was very believable.

Zach has just finished university and has been job hunting for awhile. He finally secures a job as an operator in a call centre, not really what he want but it's a job and he can stay close to his sister and her family. Zach completes his training and his job is going well except from constant criticism from the call centre manager, John.

Tragically Zach's life is changed forever when his sister and her husband are fatally injured in a car accident and he is the only family member his young nephews have. Suddenly he is juggling life as a single parent, working full time and caring for 2 children under 3.

An ill timed phone call from with further criticism is the final straw for Zach, following a long rant regarding his situation, Zach tells John he quits and hangs up. In response, John arrived on Zach's door step and rescues him, helping with an ill child and a disobedient one. After several similar rescues, Zach starts to think differently about John, developing feelings. They have an immediate chemistry but Zach is hesitant due to the children and his employment.

These gorgeous men have issues they need to work through before they can finally commit to one another.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

This was a cute story. I have read a couple of this author’s books before and I was hoping I would enjoy this one just as much and I defiantly did. Zach is working so hard to be an adult, but no matter what he has been hit with problems or something going bad in his life.

Zach is just getting into the swing of things at his new job when he is hit with the news that his sister and brother in law have died in a car crash. Suddenly he is a father to two young boys that are missing their parents. To top it off his boss keeps giving him more and more crap at work and Oliver, his oldest nephew, is going through the terrible twos.

This story is told from Zach’s point of view and you can’t help but feel for him and his situation. I can’t imagine having to raise two little boys with no support system what so ever. Not knowing what John is thinking really makes him seem like a jerk from the beginning, but even he admits to it when Zach confronts him. At some points I really wished John had a bit more of a backbone than just running scared when something goes wrong, I mean Zach has enough going on than to deal with more crap. I absolutely loved Zach’s nephews, this author didn’t paint the kids as perfect like most do, I could just picture everything that they did because it was exactly the kind of thing most kids really do.

Cover art by AM Snead is adorable and gives sweet visuals of Zach and his nephews.

This was such a cute story. The only thing I wish is there was more Oliver and Joe. Joe grew up too fast and we missed it. Quick and easy read.

I liked the story overall I just wish it was bit longer to explore more the relationship between Zach and John. John is a jerk throughout most of the book before he starts to be helpful in Zach by helping out with the children. However, John is work driven so when someone accuses Zach while on the job. John makes a decision that is best for work appearance. Zach is proven innocent the 1st time and must deal with someone trying to get him fired and arrested. I felt bad for Zach losing his only family and then having to have the responsibility for 2 children. I will say Zach was strong throughout the book even when life seems to crash all around him.

Limited Omniscient POV makes characters flat.

The plot was interesting in the second half, but the POV didn't do John any favors. He just comes across as one dimensional and that dimension is jackass. There is no backstory or mitigating factors that allow the reader to forgive him being such a jerk. It's basically just Zach saying yeah he's a jerk, but I like him anyway. The actual "villian(s)" show no motivation until the last couple pages, and them boom...story complete. I think the book was generally proofread with only a smattering of grammar errors. That's a plus. I could also clearly feel Zack's pain at the death of his sister and his frustration with raising a toddler. Their wasn't much depth to his connection with the baby, unfortunately. Overall, it was a solid 3 star book...maybe slightly less if you have to purchase it rather than getting it through KU.

I Loved reading about little O's antics .
It was very confusing because I kept waiting on Geoff to show up (In the summary Zach's "love" interest is Geoff)
but i've figured John is Geoff .
I didn't like John he was very unprofessional towards Zach in the beginning it was border on harrasement if you ask me,
even the reason why was seriously a WTF? moment for me .
I didn't get Why Zach liked him ...
I understand why he was attracted to him but liking him *um nope didn't get it at all.
the story it self begins slow but later on it felt a little rushed with the break up and the drama at work and than boom they love each other and are in an relationship (Zach has never been on a date or has been to John's house/appartement I know with the kids it's hard but still...

Zach adores his older sister and kids. When he gets a call at his new job that his sister was in accident is world has change. Zach life has now taken a huge hit. He is now responsible for his 2 little nephews and with his boss giving him hell at work. Zach is to the point that he doesn’t know up from down. John is fighting the attraction he has to Zach and with that is making him the target for some very cruel actions against him. Can Zach get through to John that maybe he and his nephews are worth the effect to get to know? The characters have their own trust issue but when you add in the two careful boys you will get a laugh out of it. Recommend this book

A quick read that will melt your heart. Zach, inheriting his nephews after her death finds himself under attack by his new boss, John. But the attack is due to the inner battle John has with himself, his attraction to Zach. What follows in this story is Zach learning how to be a parent and how to deal with a romance in the work place and all the it entails. We have jealousy and passion all bundle into one sexy but predictable read. I liked it but it lacked the suspense I need in a romance.

This was a quick read filled with a lot of emotions. After losing his sister and brother in law, Zach was raising their two children. He was struggling with the loss and his new job. His boss John has not been real nice to him, something changes between them. Can they find love? I did enjoy this book and I look forward to reading more from this author.

This could've been an interesting contemporary romance but the climax was meh. I'm also so sick of authors characterizing women as bitches and matricide as a route to gay fatherhood in mm-fiction.
